  Not quite. From the article:

"It is worth noting that this is an early study of just a few states, and of course, correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation. The HLDA also notes that there is very limited data on connections between marijuana use and actual car crashes. Some studies have contradicted each other as well. AAA performed a study that showed an increase in driving fatalities in Washington, while another study looked at multiple states and found a reduction in fatalities. So more research is needed to get a clearer picture."

More research is needed then :)

But I still stand by some of my previous statements.

Certainly people shouldn't be driving whilst high on marijuana, but as Iniquitous said, it is already a crime under the DUI law, unless I missed something. What does seem to be a questionable claim at this stage is that legalizing marijuana has led to an increase in car crashes.

Long story short, in North Carolina if you say yes to sex you cant revoke it even if the man turns violent. And there is actually some trouble having that fixed! oO I am stunned.

A university professor ha caused outrage by saying that Otto Warmbier (the US student who died due to the abuse he faced in north Korean prison) "Got what he deserved".

Bejeezus...

Dallas cop charged fwith "aggravated assault" for shooting into a car that had been reported stolen several weeks earlier, and killing a woman sleeping inside, who had unwittingly bought the car

The incident happened in January, but hasn't got near a courtroom until now. Since when do the police fire without any provocation at the mere sight of a car that's on the register of stolen vehicles? The 21-year old woman thought the car was being legitimately sold - hardly a crime that merits being gunned down without warning.

And wait, this is just as bad...

A black St.Louis cop joins fellow police officers at an incident with two violent guys in a stolen car getting pursued by the cops. It happened near his home, and unfortunately our man didn't take the time to get his uniform on before he set off. When he arrived on the scene, it seems the cops had already arrestd the two car pirates, but the black cop was briefly ordered down on the ground, after the other cops spotted his service gun. Very soon however, at least two of them recognized him and told him to get up and wak towards them. At that point, a white cop comes in and shoots at the man he can see walking (thinking this must be a dangerous gun-toting gangster?), killing him on the spot.

This is both ridiculous and tragic.  :-(

From a few days ago, Officer who shot Philando Castile said smell of marijuana made him fear for his life:

Which as the article notes is a little difficult to reconcile with what we know about the drug.

Having seen the video from the police dash cam, this is a case of lethal incompetence and lying. Officer Yanez was panicky and nervous and in this situation he freaked out on a misunderstanding and it claimed the life of a civilian. He should not be allowed back on the streets, he is not competent enough to do his job.

And im saying this as someone who is usually pro police :/  Police have to be right 100% of the time, because if not someone innocent gets killed or sent to prison. Its not fair, but that's how it is. And if they fail they have to be held accountable.

So.... it would seem that in California, a Democratic senator killed their own party's plan for single payer healthcare in that state: https://www.rawstory.com/2017/06/california-democratic-speaker-killed-his-own-partys-plan-for-single-payer-healthcare/

Actually, the Assembly Speaker (not a Congress-being) shut it down.  The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature. It consists of 80 members, with each member representing at least 465,000 people.  The Senators referred to (Lara and Atkins) are State Senators (the State Senate being the 'upper house' of the Legislature, which had passed the bill last month.)

They probably can't hear themselves over the sound of their bigotry and hate.

This is seriously terrifying. Its like all of those Y2K fears finally came into action, just delayed a few years.

Oniya

Except the Y2K fears were driven by sloppy programming (the '2-digit' standard for entering a year).  Ransomware is people deliberately being rat bastards.  (Apologies to all the children of unmarried rodents.)

Can't imagine how many HIPAA violations those hospitals are going to get nailed with. And how much could have been avoided by keeping equipment up to date and patched. I remember a couple years ago in a major market being amazed as a billing person in the ER wheeled in a computer with the Windows XP screensaver.

So Akansas's new Ten Commandments monument lasted less than 24 hours before meeting the same fate as the one in Oaklahoma and has been destroyed after someone crashed into it with their car.

Somewhat torn on this. On one hand destroying it was illegal and something that nobody should do. On the other hand with Utah having recently passed a law saying that these monuments need legislative approval before going to commission so they can pick and choose what monuments they allow. That way they can prevent the Satanic Temple's Baphomet statue makes me feel like the monument should never have been up in the first place if they're not going to treat all religions as equal.

I just see it as more taxpayer dollars down the drain. :( Could be fixing roads or helping hospitals or schoosl, but nope, its in a moneypit now.

Sara Nilsson

Considering the monument was privately funded it wont cost the state that much, sure there are some costs involved but on the whole worth it. The lawsuits that involve the statue will cost alot more then the darn thing to begin with.

The mosque where ISIS proclaimed their so-called Caliphate three years ago has been retaken - only there isn't much of it left standing. The dome and most of the walls were blown out by ISIS themselves a couple of days ago to avoid the humiliation of seeing the building slip out of the hands of the Jihadists (the mosque was many centuries old, of course).

Mosul is practtically all liberated by now - and more thrashed than Berlin in 1945.  :-( Literally, ISIS does not leave stone upon stone.
