I'm just amazed that a Hijab is apparently empowering.

Being able to willingly affirm one's identity is always empowering

Where else would I find out what Ruby likes to wear when she's home alone? These are the questions that -need- answering, people!

Apparently Playboy won't have its nudes anymore anyways. So there's nothing left except articles.
QuoteIn October 2015, Playboy announced that starting with their March 2016 issue, the magazine would no longer feature full frontal nudity.[35] Playboy CEO Scott Flanders acknowledged the magazine's inability to compete with freely available Internet pornography and nudity; according to him, "You're now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture".[36] Hefner agreed with the decision.[37] The redesigned Playboy, however, would still feature a Playmate of the Month and pictures of women, but they would be rated as not appropriate for children under 13.[37] The move would not affect PlayboyPlus.com (which features nudity at a paid subscription), but it is currently unknown what will happen to the "special" issues.[38] Josh Horwitz of Quartz argues that the motivation for the decision to remove nudity from the magazine was to give Playboy Licensing a less deviant image in India and China, where the brand is a popular item on apparel and thus generates significant revenue.[39]

Among other changes to the magazine included ending the popular jokes section and the various cartoons that appeared throughout the magazine. The redesign eliminated the use of jump copy (articles continuing on non-consecutive pages), which in turn eliminated most of the space for cartoons.[40] Hefner, himself a former cartoonist, reportedly resisted dropping the cartoons more than the nudity, but ultimately obliged. Playboy plans to market itself as a competitor to Vanity Fair as opposed to more traditional competitors GQ and Maxim.[34]

You know what pisses me off about this? In other news articles they say the kid was killed in "Crossfire" which only occurs when two sides are shooting at one another.

Two asshole cops shooting at a man and his 6 year old is not crossfire!

I hope the only sunlight they see is through prison bars.

Jaw-dropping news from Poland: our pro-lifers not only want to ban abortion altogether... apparently, they also want to institute a total ban on the "day after" pills!

Yup. A project of this law might actually make it to the parliament debate :(

Filipino president Rodrigo Duterte - the man who famously called both Pope Francis and Barack Obama "son of a bitch" - explicitly likens himself to the Fuehrer and his own ruthless anti-drugs policies to the Final Solution...but tries to have it pass as a bawdy joke. (Years before Duterte became el señor Presidente, he was infamous for his espousal of police death squad tactics to fight drug-hustling gangs).

Trigger warning, sexual abuse. Long story short, governor signs new bill in wake of Brock Turner case.

Governor signs a bill stemming from the Brock Turner case, making prison mandatory in any rape involving unconscious or intoxicated victims. Honestly as a survivor I can say, its a start but sure isnt enough. The fact that we are STILL to this day asked things like, what we where wearing, how much we had been drinking, how much sex we have had is just wrong. And still so many attackers get off with very light sentencing while we have to suffer for the rest of our lives.

For me it has been a bit over 10 years, not a week goes by that I don't wake up screaming in terror. And as far as I know, the fucker is still out there.. somewhere. *sighs* sorry this turned into a bit of a rant as well it just makes me so angry to see women still treated this way and all to common i hear.. but what about men who are falsely accused. Yes, that is of course a problem but that isn't a defense as to why our system is so lenient.. well unless the man happens to be latino or black of course.. but that is another rant for another day.

I can actually understand the 'How much have you been drinking' question, as it can lead to a misidentification if the person was drunk before hand. Not that I am saying it is right but I can see some measure of logic in it.

But your very brave for sharing *pulls you in for a hug*

Missy

It seems kind of like a double standard.

You need to be properly sober to recognize a person to be absolutely sure true, so you're held responsible for drinking. No one wants to convict the wrong person and that's fair.

Then's there's your judgement was impaired so you get a lesser sentence even though you've been convicted.

Seems to me everyone should be equally responsible about how much you drink, you drink and drive, you drink and play with guns, you drink and rape. Getting intoxicated was your call, shame for you.

There is a rapist out there who is the mother of three school aged children and is the president of the Parent's Advisory Association of their school.  She should have gone to jail and she should be registered as a sex offender for the rest of her life.  Any time some one gets off easy for sexual assault it makes me sick to my stomach.

Everyone, man or woman, who rapes anyone needs to be locked away for a very long time.

I definitely agree, double standards go both ways.
