  Excelent.  :)  I'm very excited.

I think Tenebra's special power is going to be that she can manipulate her matrix pressence to cloak her in shadows.  This would be a visual invisiblity effect, with the fringe, and only works in dim light.  is that acceptable?  :)

Yeah, you could do it that way. Though feel free to pull some shenanigans with Darkness if you prefer. Darkness is probably my favorite power. xD

Muse

Oh.  :)  I like that.  I thought that something like that would be be beyond the scope of our abilites.  But if it's okay, I'll give her night vision and darkness (with personal imunity to her darkness.)

When Tenebra was younger, she was quite a dreamer.  Sometimes she'd spend so long staring into shadows that her family and friends wondered if she had bouts of catatonia.

  She was just thinking.

Tenebra started writing when she was fourteen--both blogs and fiction.  "I used to be afraid fo shadows," she wrote.  "I feared what could be hiding in them.  Over time, I've come too see so much more there.  Shadows are the place where reality meets imagination.  I want to learn to cross that line, step through that door."

Yeah, feel free to use Darkness instead, if you want. Though you might wanna give it [No Range] - being able to summon darkness anywhere nearby seems beyond the scope of what you described.

Should our alternate forms also pay for the Matrix Connection Port?

Hmmm. That's a good question. Exiting is just as much extra-dimensional movement as entering... So yeah, that'd probably be the one power that both forms share. Though the RSI version wouldn't have [OIF].

Muse

As I recall, they still needed to reach a specific point in the matrix to be extracted, though?  A specific phone desingnated by the operator, I believe?

That's what [Only to hardline locations] is for. And it isn't so much a specific phone as it is any landline telephone. The operators just always default to the nearest one.

*nods* Plus, the mention of "I've got an old patch on an exit..." (from memory, so probably not word perfect) towards the end of the movie implies that while any hardline could be used, the Operator has to hack a specific node in order to set up the connection - hence previously used nodes that the machines haven't reset security on can be used most easily.

I imagine that part of the maintenance process when back at Zion would have included updating a master list of hardline access hacks among the different ships. Or maybe that is what Operators keep themselves busy doing when not monitoring an intrusion into the Matrix. Or when they aren't doing something specific for the team, they are busy setting up possible extraction points and data drops, etc.

Or yeah, probably the nearest poorly defended one.

Bios must be at least 250 words (approx 1 double-spaced page in Word or similar software).

If your character has already been unplugged at the game's outset, please include a description of a past 'adventure'. It can be anything from when they found out the truth of the Matrix; an exciting chase through Mega City with police, Agents, and Exiles; to a steamy, smutty retelling of the first time they had sex outside the Matrix.

Freeborn should do something similar, but real-world... A sermon by a Captain or other leader of Noctis who moved them to action, an EMP firefight with Sentinels, a spooky excursion into one of the long-abandoned tunnels/pipes that run beneath the Earth's crust, or a thrilling hovercraft chase scene.

Make them as short or as long as you want, but use them as a means to establish your character's personality and motivations in an entertaining way. Remember - some of the crew has already been working together at the outset of the game, so the typical 'everyone meeting each other and feeling each other out' awkwardness won't be necessary.

..well, that's rather discouraging.

Did everyone lose interest, or is everyone just busy?

Muse

Just busy, sorry.

Holidays and all.  :)

Not like I'm going to actually be checking to make sure they're long enough; I just want people to actually think about their character instead of throwing three sentences together in 30 seconds.

Besides, more detail = easier to turn it into a working Hero character.

Also, since you're playing a newly-unplugged character, they won't have any past adventures (which also explains why they have less beginning xp).

Incomplete first draft.  More to come.  :)

Name: Tenebra
Bluepill Name (if applicable): Michelle Keen
Age: 27
Years since unplugged: 10
Likes: Practicing gymnastics and martial arts, including with shuriken and katana.     Reading and writing stories.  (Best way to share the things I see.)  Tenebra has a special fondness for all manner of stories about kunoichi.
   Staring dreamily into the shadows.
Trancing out on the dance floor.
Dislikes: "You talk to much.  How do you hear yourself think?"
"Why are you playing music?  We're not dancing.  We're not listening to it.  We're not watching videos.  How about we turn it off 'til it's time to actualy listen to it?"
Special Talents: When within the Matrix, Tenebra can see perfectly in darkness.  She can also encompass herself in a globe of supernatural blackness only her eyes can penetrate.  She carries a katana and a number of concealed shuriken.
Personality:
Bio:    When Tenebra was younger, she was quite a dreamer.  Sometimes she'd spend so long staring into shadows that her family and friends wondered if she had bouts of catatonia.
   She was just thinking.

You flipped the 'name' and 'bluepill name' sections. The bluepill name is whatever they were called before they were unplugged (so freeborn wouldn't have them).

That reminds me.  After the 40 points for RSI and the connection port, plus the "view" power we talked about, about how many points would I be looking at having left?

Well, the power we talked about would be in-Matrix, so that would come from however many total points their RSI would be built on (probably less than the example, as your character wouldn't've been through any training programs or learned how to break the rules of the Matrix yet). Multiform's a little quirky... Like a character within a character. The true form (in our case, the one with plugs that's on a ship somewhere) has to pay the cost of the other form, and the multiform is basically an upgraded version of themselves with higher stats and more abilities. PM me if you need help with Multiform - it's one of the more complicated powers.

If it's easier, you could just start with the same amount of Character Points as everyone else (and a RSI that's equal in strength to everyone else), and I could require a roll any time your character tries to do something superhuman. Then, instead of giving you an increased XP rate so you can catch up to everyone else, I could gradually make the rolls easier and easier and eventually remove them all together.
