Nova class is a good pick, alxnjsh.  I have read up on it and sitting at 80 crew compliment, it seems a perfect size for us.  I wonder if you can be tempted to use the Rhodes variant via some good explanation?

Yes, I think the Rhodes variant is quite appropriate. I also had considered being stationed in a particular sector, but sometimes that is a bit more difficult. I've already thought out many missions. I particularly enjoy going back and revisiting TNG episodes to see exactly what's happened since the Enterprise left. It makes me reminisce.

If anyone has ideas for missions I'll also create a mission suggestion thread (if we get enough people). I'm thinking we need at least a few more to really get off the ground.

I'm game, does the ship need anything?

I'm thinking a Risian Civilian heading up the bar area and relaxation services (get your mind out of the gutter) would be nice. A good cook (replicated food is nice but come on a real meal with a person making it can't be bad for morale), barkeep and do things like organize social groups - plus a skilled bartender.

I just want to roleplay in a nice role that doen't have to be in the military.

Oh, and is it just me, but why does a starship this size need a secondary deflector?  I would love to see that space filled out like and Intrepid class shape, kind of like the Rhodes did anyways, and contain a XX Forward and possibly some other recreational perks.  Just ideas of course  ^.^

There are simply too many missions to count, I wouldnt mind our own little take on any one of a number of them.  I cant even narrow down my list either, so I will just happily second my faves!

I agree with Barn's comment here. I also think that the Nova could be used intra-planetary and underwater.

Wasn't trying to quash creativity and ideas, I was just explaining why they likely have the systems in place they do on the ship.    It should be noted that the Rhodes variant is larger than the standard version because they have moved the deflector section forward thus removing the indent in the hull and adding space to the hull.

I'm interested in starting a new group game set in the Star Trek TNG time line. Specifically set around the time of ST: Nemesis (movie where the Enterprise goes to Romulus). Implications - Dominion War over, Voyager back, etc.

It would take place on a ship - I'm thinking Nova class, but could be convinced for Sovereign if we want a bigger ship. The ship will most likely NOT have a marine detachment. Marines are extremely popular in online ST RPGing, but not so in the series. I could be convinced if you really want to play a marine.

i'd actually argue more for galaxy or intrepid class, because the soverigns are rare as hell (depending how far after nemesis i believe at the time there were only 10 in service at the time of the movie) and while the nova does look cool and fits with starfleets intentions of things as a science and resarch thing, it does limit us on survivability in combat which was one of the things that made startrek interesting the fights.  which is why the main ships in tng and voyager wernt the best combat boats or the best sensor boats but they were average in both

Are we expecting many combat engagements?  Also, if we're going to be in or near Federation space, I don't think the danger of combat will be that great.  I'd also hope that before we are sent somewhere, we'd be given a briefing as far as what to expect.  If possible, a more apt combat vessel could escort us on more dangerous endeavors.

I was thinking that our Nova class would be slightly experimental with new weaponry and even newer propulsion systems including warp conduits and wormhole technology (time travel anyone?).

I guess what I'm saying is I'm amenable to changing the canon Nova specifications to add some interesting twists.

So far we have a Chief Security, but we can always use a Security Officer - especially when we go on away missions - one will have to stay on the ship and the other on the mission! Like Worf/Tasha.

So far we have a Chief Security, but we can always use a Security Officer - especially when we go on away missions - one will have to stay on the ship and the other on the mission! Like Worf/Tasha.

i didnt think worf was even a part of the security dept until tasha died kinda like how geordi wasnt really in the engineering department until season 2

This could sound like my cup of tea too.  Like Kaz, I started RPing in Star Trek based games (and yes, I still have the bios from those characters either in my head or actually in my hard drive!)  I have mostly played either Medical officers or Counselor... even tried my hand at Security for a short time but one thing is for certain.  She will be authentic and she will be someone that can not be missed, no matter what!

Please let me know what can be available and I will find the character that could best suit this RP!  Love to join, even as a bit player with my wicked time schedule.

Well, technically redshirts can be in command as well - flight control, etc. Also the term has been used to describe any un-named individual whose fate is to die. ;)

My brother's computer broke down a few days ago, and mine's been KO'd for months now. So, I'm using my dad's until my new labtop arrives. So prepare for sporadic posting for atleast 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully it will come sooner though.
