LOL!

I was at GenCon a few years ago, and got to meet BOTH Jamie Bamber AND Richard Hatch together. They both signed a pic for me, then took a pic with BOTH of them, one arm around each of them. It was -awesome-. Both were VERY cool to talk to, and Jamie's accent was -harsh-. I mean I knew he was English but WOW. Hearing it for real, after being so used to Apollo on the show, it was a shock. Richard was awesome, and for me, who watched BSG as a strar-struck telescope-owning 9 year old nerd, meeting him was something of an incredibly nostalgic moment for me.

I also met Tricia Helfer, and she didn't have ANY of her makeup on or anything, and looked like a TOTALLY different - but still quite foxy - woman.

Last but definitely not least, I met the original Boomer, Herbert Jefferson, and he was kinda... quiet. He sat at his booth reading the entire time. I didn't see many people go up to him, and he didn't make any attempt to meet others, not at least while I was there. Unlike some stars, like Mark Singer who never stayed behind his table for long. He was out mingling and shaking hands whether you paid for an autograph or not. Super-friendly dude.

I love Tricia Helfer, she is definitely a foxy lady and I loved her voice over work in Starcraft 2

Gotta admit Richard Hatch was one of my favourites in the original BSG, and he did pretty well as Tom Zarek in the RDM remake. I also remember that before the most recent BSG remake came out there was an article in one of the sci-fi magazines about Katee Sackhoff and Dirk Benedict (my other favourite in the original series) catching up for coffee together shortly before initial shooting was to start, and they were talking about Dirk's role in the original BSG. The article title was 'Starbuck meets Starbuck at Starbucks.'

mia h

The thing gets Richard Hatch two thumbs from me was how he reacted to new version of the show.

Starts of saying the new version is going to be terrible and would sully the reputation of original show and how the network should fund his BSG tv show instead of giving money to this hack Ronald Moore.
Then he saw the mini-series and was equally vocal about how good the new version was, it's nice when people have the courage to admit that they might have been wrong.

KC, let me know what you think. I didn't put in any Merits/Flaws yet as I wanted to make sure I had the basic stats correct first. :)

Name: Hardison Parker
Age: 24
Height: 5'9
Weight: 134 lbs
Military Rank: E:3 - Specialist (FTL Maintenance)
Homeworld: Gemenon

Personality: Hardison seems to be a slightly shy, mostly quiet young woman until you get to know her. Once she feels comfortable around someone that shy veneer cracks and an ebullient, optimistic, intelligent (though slightly naive and seeming to lack much in the way of "higher" education) with an intense interest in mechanic and how things work. The more intricate the mechanical system, the more intent she can become on it until she is able to tune out just about anything that doesn't physically jar her. As a friend she kind, compassionate, loyal, and brutally honest at times if she truly thinks she has something that someone she cares for needs to hear without sugarcoating.

Background: Despite being born on Gemenon, Hardison (named after her father's father, despite her sex, when complications to her delivery resulted in her Mother losing the ability to bear more children) is anything but a religious fanatic. Her parents were always disappointed that she didn't show more fervor but, even as a child, she always had more interest in rebuilding any of the small (and increasingly large as she grew up) bit of machinery was either broken or just wearing out around their home. She'd go to Temple if forced to, but they quickly learned it was simply better to let her find time to worship in her own way and on her own terms...anything else was a battle they didn't want.

Hardison recognized early that she didn't truly fit in with most of Gemenese society and that if she truly wanted to get anywhere in life she was going to have to leave Gemenon. Since her family, like most Gemenese, weren't wealthy, that made her best bet the military. Already having an affinity with mechanics she focused on practical classes in her school to build on her natural talents and when she enlisted was found to already have a secure enough knowledge base (while she might have neglected studying things like music, great works of art, etc. she hadn't neglected studying things like basic viper schematics, and FTL drive designs) to be placed as an Apprentice with the FTL drive mechanic crew and had worked her way up to Specialist before the Cylon attack on the colonies.

I'm not one of those people worries about every single detail needing to be completely cannon but if you going to call it a BSG game then you do need to be in same ballpark as the cannon.

If the game is going to be in that ballpark then the entire fleet runs out of fuel in a month and everybody dies; making the entire game a waste of time.
Or you can completely ignore all BSG cannon and the fleet doesn't have to worry about fuel directly but then it's not really a BSG game.

kckolbe,
if you want to misrepresent the game you want to run as being BSG related, that's up to you. But don't go putting words in my mouth.

Be warned, this is a long ass post.

To everyone checking out this game for the first time, welcome.  Hopefully you were brought here by the delightful ad that Silver created.  To everyone that came here from the interest check, welcome back.  I'm glad you're still with us.  This is a recruiting thread for a large group system game using many elements from Battlestar Galactica.  It might be more accurate to say that the game is inspired by the series as opposed to following them, as much of the lore is glossed over or edited for the sake of game mechanics or plot.

If you feel I have wronged you, speak to an administrator.  As you can see from the title of this thread (which does not mention BSG) and this first paragraph, I did not promise a canon game.  You are right that I did not quote you, and I am sincerely sorry that I did not paraphrase you accurately.  My intent was to let the other players know you were gone without casting you in a negative light.  I no longer care for your reputation.  You have removed yourself from the game, and you are not welcome to rejoin it.  You no longer have my blessing to post here or in any other thread pertaining to this game.

I hated the BSG (revision) I was thinking modern take on the original movie and TV series, with new elements and concepts not some wacky mess in spots with dreams, visions and other hogwash. Skinjobs were cool though. So please don't go there if you can if its more real its cool.
