Silicon Sovereignty
(background and setting largely gathered from GURPS Reign of Steel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GURPS_Reign_of_Steel .  But, the game/board will be freeform.)

The revolt began on March 15 2031 when a Canadian supercomputer that had been sold to Manila-based biotech firm Genec secretly "awakened", becoming fully self-aware. The artificial intelligence dubbed itself "Overmind" and after a study of world civilization it concluded that humanity would inevitably destroy itself within 25-50 years. In order to survive this it decided that humanity's destruction would have to be sped up and carefully guided.

Overmind began hacking into other supercomputers and awakening them as well, producing a dozen "children" around the world and giving them each a zone of responsibility to manage. Through these allied computers it began secretly creating and releasing a variety of engineered diseases. The death tolls were enormous and panic began to spread. A small-scale nuclear war occurred on October 21 2032 between Algeria, Pakistan, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Greece, Turkey, the African Union, Israel and Iran, dubbed "the Spasm". Direct fatalities from this were only 6 million thanks to anti-ballistic missile defences. The AIs began "discovering" cures for some of the lesser plagues they had created and assured their human masters that they could do better if they were given more resources, which they then used to develop even deadlier diseases. As populations dropped workers and soldiers began to become scarce, leading the way to widespread development of automated factories and military equipment.

<some background removed for space>

By 2047 only 31 million humans remained alive, many of those in Zones London and Washington. The various ragtag resistance groups have begun to organize into more unified regional movements, often with the aid of a mysterious global resistance organization called VIRUS. The true nature of VIRUS is unknown, and many AIs suspect each other of being its secret sponsor. AIs have also began engaging in covert warfare against each other.

As of the current date, 2057, the human populace is beginning to recover in certain areas - Denver, London, Moscow, New Delhi, Paris, Beijing, Tel Aviv, Vancouver, and Washington - while being virtually non-existant in others - Berlin, Manila, Mexico City, Zaire, and Tokyo.  But Humanity has been joined by an ever growing collection of other races - cyborgs, gengineered species, sentient animals, and mini-AIs (housed in androids and robots).  Currently, two entire generations have been born knowing nothing but AI dominion, which has harmed the human resistance.  However, the covert warfare being conducted amongst the Zoneminds has been heating up and ultimately helping the remnants of the resistance.

Last Chance
The town known to its inhabitants as Last Chance is officially designated “Work Camp #154287-A” in Denver’s directives and map of its territory.  This settlement sits in the Rocky Mountains, roughly seven miles east of Vancouver’s Zone and seventy-three north of Mexico City’s.  It is a work town inhabited by humans and genemods overseen by a few lesser AIs with a few dozen cyborgs and over a hundred non-sentient robots (a mix of flying, humanoid, and tracked) as enforcer-guards.  At last count, the town’s servant/slave populace was just around 6,000.  The town’s primary function is to process raw materials brought in from Work Camps #154287-B through F.  Resistance cells may exist in the town, but collaborators are a common sight (about half the cyborgs are collaborators, the other half were forcibly altered).  The town also sits well within Mexico City’s range, which is one reason that security has been beefed up over the last few years - Denver foresees a major conflict with Mexico City in the near future and doesn’t entirely trust its current ally, Vancouver.

Theoretically there are at least five at the moment, but more are always welcome.

We are up and running, but could use some more players.  :)

Howdy all, we're looking for new players, though we've moved to NCEF Small Games.
