*giggles*

Just because I'm so tired of Spanish football.... :)

*covers eyes* Oh no....lol

I hate the French and the Argentinians. Will always cheer against them.

Group F: Argentina vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina

The Better Team Was... Argentina, but Bosnia was certainly no slouch.  Except for Messi, Argentina looked clumsy and lackluster.  Things got better in the second half, but still, if I was an Argentine fan, I'd be worried.

Man of the Match: Need I say it? Lionel Messi.  It says something that he's amazing even on a bad day.

Deamonbane

Messi hair! God... that was some goal...

Well, I sure hope that Germany will make it today.

Schade Deutschland alles ist vorbei? :D

Nah seriously... I hope they do well against Portugal and especially Ronaldo :)

Pepe really has bad problems with his discipline, every time I see him play he's getting in trouble.  XD

Very true, that.

Phobetor

I just hope they can keep it going. Normally the second half, the losing team begins to have a bit of luck.

And I want Ronaldo to bite it. Not even one point towards Portugal. :P

I think this is why most of Europe is supporting Germany tonight... and because they play very well of course but mostly because everybody wants Ronaldo to lose :)

Group G: Germany vs. Portugal

The Better Team Was... I don't think anyone who watched the game can dispute this one: Germany.  They were disciplined, methodical, and patient, everything that Portugal wasn't.

Man of the Match: Thomas Müller (GER).  Yes, he deserves an Academy Award for his groaning, head-grabbing dive which drew the Pepe foul, but I don't think you can score a hat trick and not be man of the match.

American fans have to be encouraged by Portugal's performance.  Especially since  they will be playing without Pepe (red card) and possibly a couple other key players (injuries) when they play the US on Sunday.

Group F: Nigeria vs. Iran

The Better Team Was... Nigeria.  They had the speed, they dominated possession, they just couldn't make anything happen.

Man of the Match: I'm going to give this one to Mehrdad Poolani and the rest of the Iranian defenders, for shutting down and frustrating the Super Eagles' attack again and again.

And with that...

GO USA!

Aleph

*listens for the roar of this particular crowd* first minute and everything....

Phobetor

Why did we bring Altidore if he's had an injury?

And can someone have a talk with Bradley?

*is nervous about the second half*

I honestly have to give that game to Dempsey, Howard and Brooks.

Because Ghana owned the field, they did fantastic.

But God bless Howard.

Oh my God.  I think that game took five years off my life.  First the exultation of Dempsey scoring in the first minute, then eighty minutes of watching Ghana take shot after shot after shot, of Michael Bradley giving away the ball every time he received it, and then Ghana scoring with eight minutes to go.  And then...the corner, and the header by (correction) Brooks .   I repeat: Oh. My. God.

The Better Team Was... Like it or not, Ghana.  Asamoah Gyan, in particular, was amazing.  They kept the ball better than the US did, and took far more shots on goal.  We just happened to catch them sleeping.

Man of the Match: If Ghana had won or tied, I would have said Gyan, but since the US pulled it out, I'll hand the honors to Tim Howard (USA).

I was impressed with Alejandro Bedoya, Jermaine Jones, Howard (of course), and Kyle Beckerman.    DeMarcus Beasley may be experienced, but he's getting a little long in the tooth.  And for the love of God, will Klinsmann please get Bradley off the field?  To think that we could have had Donovan at that position...it breaks the heart.

Dashenka

Just realized something rather idiotic....

Brazil and Mexico play their 2nd match BEFORE Russia and South Korea played their first. Also at the time Brazil and Mexico play, Russia can still see the match. The time we are playing now is in the middle of the night and hardly anybody will be able to watch.

Found that a bit odd.

You should have seen how the games were in the 2002 cup... we were up to watch the... Brazil x Costa Rica and Brazil x England games at 2 AM

Dashenka

Ye but football's really big in Brazil so many people will watch it. In Russia it isn't and I doubt it is in South Korea so not many people will be watching I guess.
