The Order of Mercenaries Elune(Pathfinder Seeker Thread.)

Let's see if I have it in me to run THREE pathfinder games at once. I think I can, since the other two have gotten bogged down by missing players. Games run so slow on elliquiy anyway, so posting on a regular basis should be a pinch easy. Now for the starting rules!

- Level 6 starting.
- 4d6 standard.
- 4 players with a equal sex ratio. 2 boys 2 girls.
- 20k starting gold.
- Traits are enabled.
- If you want to play a special race or something custom made, just yell at me. Pathfinder has squat when it comes to a choice of races, and there should always be a healthy mix of catfolk or something weird thrown in there. A party of 4 humans/elves is just boring. Also things like cursed into being a different race, or cursed clothes/armor is always acceptable. Since naughty curses are always fun for everyone involved.
- This is going to be a Urban Game, so prepare for it.

The general plot layout, is that you are a merc group in a big ass city. With the city being so massive the government cannot control all of it by itself. Hence the need for groups such as yours to beat down the peasants and do some raids on various thief guilds and various illegal cults. That or you could join the seedy underbelly and do some anarchy yourselves, either way is just fine with me.

This is going to be a game where the DM doesn't have a central plot mechanic. It is going to be primarily up to the players to figure out what they want to do and how to do it. Want to raid a warehouse controlled by a minor thieves guild? Go right ahead! Want to join up with that self same thieves guild and do some ransacking of rich merchant homes? Go right ahead! Want to set up your own brothel/casino? Go right ahead!

You'll get your own headquarters free of charge, since you've been in operation for a year or so already. You'll just need to come to a consensus over what type of lair you want. A house, a underground lair, a tower, etc etc.

I'd be interested in joining an open-ended Pathfinder RP.  I will start plotting out the details of the character, but off the top of my head I'm thinking of going Wizard -> Ranger -> Arcane Archer.  The prospect of branching out from the standard races is quite intriguing to me; something I shall also be putting thought into.  ;D

I don't think there's anything gamebreaking in Ultimate Magic.  From what I've heard it's rather lackluster for most of the other classes, but Alchemists got some interesting flavory abilities, feats, and archetypes.  Things like alchemically-grown wings, tentacles, and simulacrums!

I always try to make my games have a healthy dose of naughty in them, so building your character to only fulfill half of the games content would be a massive dis-service.

I'm not saying that I want to be a lackluster participant.  This being a band of mercenaries, I'm certain I could find other ways for my character to spend his time while the others are enjoying carnal pleasures.

I have yet to even see the stats for this race. It just rubs me the wrong way to have a player in a naughty D&D game not participate in the naughty.

Here's what I've narrowed it down to thus far.  I'm having a bit of trouble finding non-feline nekos that aren't full anthros while still falling under the list of core Wizard familiars.

Technically a kitsune Neko, which is not a core familiar option, but I felt it couldn't hurt to try. ;)

4d6 standard is where you 4d6 6 times and keep the three highest. In addition to re rolling ones. Just feel free tp pm me with your rolls, and I donot care if you real dice or not. I like to then edit my players stats slightly for party balance reasons. That and shit like how a wizard should have at least 18 int.

Born a full-blooded Elf, Rayne spent much of his comparatively long life studying the Arcane.  It was a commonality that he shared with his parents and he was eager to learn the ropes.  Both were skilled crafters, their magical talents mainly focusing upon the ability to enchant the various commissions that kept their business prosperous.  Though they had the potential for it, they never honed their skills in combative magic.  As a result, Rayne's foundation of magical knowhow is based upon the practical implementation of the art in daily life.

As his talents grew, he became more involved with the family business.  Of course his creations were rudimentary by comparison of his parents, but it was an experience he thoroughly enjoyed.  Decades passed and Rayne's desire to create magical items was gradually surpassed by the desire to implement the potential power held within them.  It wasn't long after this before he began testing the various gear that passed through the family shop.  His curiosity was encouraged, but his parents restricted him to the things he created or the ones that his parents set aside for him.  Given the limitations this put upon him and the typical rebellious tendencies of most adolescents, he defied their wishes, seeing it as a challenge to his intelligence and maturity.

It was only a matter of time before his actions tempted fate enough to experience the backlash from his actions.  Early one day, a customer brought in a Ring of Greater Polymorph that was far too tempting for Rayne to resist.  He had not been aware that it was brought to the shop in hopes to remove the curse that had been placed upon it.  Rayne couldn't recall the moments between slipping the ring upon his finger and waking up on the floor with his mother crying out in panic.  He would later discover that the curse had twisted the ring's magic so that instead of changing into a different form, it combined his feline familiar and himself into a combined form.

The experience was traumatic and it took Rayne a while to even begin dabbling with magical energies once again.  Overnight, he lost his self identity; he no longer had the sense of belonging in his Elven family and felt as though he was an outcast.  Granted, that was largely in his head, but that mentality gradually weaned once learned of the race he now resembled.  He couldn't help but be enticed by the freedom in which they seemed to live, especially when it came to fulfilling the more carnal of desires.  After a (much too) short vacation to their native lands, he returned embracing his new form and with it restored his drive to practice the arcane arts.

Eventually, Rayne reached the point of his young adulthood where he was no longer contented with living at his childhood home and he ventured forth to experience what life had to offer.  For a while, he lived without a fixed residence.  He would travel town to town, looking for a place to set roots getting by from the money earned by enchanting items during his short stay at each location.  Then came the night that still baffles him to this day.  What started as another inhibition-free night of drinking, fraternizing, and getting laid ended up with him having partial ownership of a casino house with a group that quickly became close friends.

Homebrew story. Clerics are decent melee fights, they just don't get the feats that fighters get. Which is countered by spells like bull's strength and divine power. You could easily make a catgirl cleric that uses a two-handed weapon, since you don't need to take any feats for two-handed. A catgirl with heavy armor and swinging around a big ass axe would be hilarious.

As for being a catgirl, I already got that covered. As with Loki's character and there being a accident with his research. Well you were there and you caused the accident, transforming the both of you. Speaking of which, I told Loki to use elf stats for the catfolk race.

Some minor changes to that. No elven immunities to sleep or charms, and in return you get darkvision instead of low-light.

Also something else I forgot to mention. The only 3.5 book I'll allow into pathfinder is the Magic Item Compendium, since it is AWESOME. Since called armor is super fantastic awesome with heavy armor, and really helps a lot.

Sounds good, although I'd prefer a more "natural" origin story, not as a magical mishap.  Up to you though.  Mechanics-wise, I like the idea, though.

I would like some pointers for feats, equipment, or spells I should look at however.  I'm thinking about building towards the Holy Vindicator prestige class, although I need to wait til level 8 to start putting levels in it (I don't get enough BAB until level 7 as a cleric).

I'll try and get a character sheet up by tomorrow sometime.

Hrm, well I suppose you could be a natural born kittygirl. That always nice.

Selective channeling is a must for clerics, since with that you can burst heal and not catch your enemies in the healing wave as well. Besides that, defensive feats like shield specialization and whatnot is nice. You could be extra tanky tank catgirl with a board and sword.

A mounted class character would be a big problem in a urban setting, where most of the combat would be indoors and underground.

You don't get to make your own magic items at the start. You pay base price for what ever items you start off with, and then start crafting afterwards. That way the DM doesn't have to beat you with a bat nailed to a bat. As for your research, you may want to look up what did you did wrong that changed you into a catboy in the first place. You'll never know if there is a market for that sort of thing...

You guys still need to come to a consensus over a lair type.

It'd help provide some funding to the group, though I'd imagine much of the income would go to operation costs. Taxes are a bitch after all. The ground floor could be the gambling area while the second could be living spaces for our characters while also providing a place we can conduct business of the mercenary vaiety. Naturally the two floors will have controlled access, preventing a wayward patron from wandering where they're not welcome.

Sounds good to me, though it does mean I'll have to put my lawful good idea on hold.  Ah well, next time perhaps.  As for the headquarters, I like it, although I'd also prefer a secret basement as well.  The restricted access upstairs is nice and all, but if/when the guards come to raid the place, it would be nice to have a portion of the building they don't know about where we can hide all the illicit stuff.  The passage to the basement could be either somewhere in the "normal" basement, just a fake wall that leads to a staircase further down, or perhaps in the upstairs somewhere, with stairs going through the main floor behind one of the walls (after all, who would be crazy enough to look for the secret entrance to the basement on the top floor?)

Anyway, character background.  I like the LG idea, so her father was a lord in a nearby kingdom.  Most of the time, he was fair and just with his subjects, but he always followed the letter of the law, and when one of his best friends was convicted of a crime, despite him doing it for all the right reasons, the law called for his death, and her father was not the type to ignore the law.  Ever since then she's been at odds with him, putting her alignment somewhere around CG or CN.  Not sure yet why she's come to this city (does the city have a name yet?) or joined the mercenary group.  I gave her War and Glory domains for her deity, so she's going to worship Valkyrie, Goddess of Warriors.

I'd like to avoid being an evil character, since (if I'm understanding the rules properly) I can turn any of my spells into Cure spells if I'm good- or neutral-aligned, but if I go evil, I get Inflict spells instead.  Unless Nicci's willing to let me fudge that bit - after all, not evil clerics deal with undead, and evil people need healing too.

And Nicci, do you mind if I reroll the 7 I got for an ability score or the 1 I got for one of my hit dice?

Yeah just re-roll those stats. Also that background is quite nice, since it mens traveling out of your homeland and into human lands. That way, being a kittygirl in this city is something quite exotic.

Well actually nothing stops you from still being lawful good. After all the gambling could very well be legal and done in a method that does not break the alignment. Hell I played a lawful good PALADIN that was fine with slavery because it was an established norm of the world and handled it in a decent matter. Its not totally impossible.

CG would be best, and your backstory is plenty naughty. Since you are in a foreign land, you being LG in there would be weird. Since it is a different culture and different customs. Like how in your homeland things like nudity and public orgies and what not would just be fantastic. You are a kittygirl, they have no decency!

- I wouldn't worry about critical damage, since that rarely occurs. If you are going two handed, then might as well get a weapon that has a high base damage, and not worry about critical damage. That and take monkey grip feat, which allows you to two hand a weapon a size category larger then what you are capable of. A catgirl in armor wielding a axe larger then she is, oh my!

- Armband of Maximized Healing(MIC) 7200gp ....3/day Maximize Healing Spell(6th lvl and under)
- Amulet of Endure Elements.
- At least +2 magic armor.

That would be a sundering attempt, to do some de-clothing. Speaking of which, you guys will be needed to get some naughty bunnygirl employees to run the 2-3 so gambling tables. That and getting the decorations and other equipment.

Like all good origin stories. It involved a lot of booze, sex, and more booze. After the haze and dozens of whores, you guys ended up owning the house. So why not just start a merc group?

So mean and rushy Nicci! Well working on my character a bit more. Oh... and she calls one of the big bedrooms... do you really want to fight with a barbarian girl for such a thing?  ;D

Heh, I did reroll... got a 9 instead of a 7.  Rerolled again, 15, so I shuffled stats around.

Final ability scores before any mods were 18, 16, 15, 13, 12, 11.  Which I'm pretty happy with, it means I can shuffle things around and end up with a +1 Con mod for a little extra HPs.

Anyway, I'm finished with the character mechanics-wise.  I still need to flesh out her background a little and do some bookkeeping on the character sheet (writing down all the different bonuses and abilities I have, mainly), but other than that I'm good to go.

Also, what are the rules for adding enchantments to an item/transferring enchantments from one item to another?  I took the Heirloom Weapon trait, which means I pick a weapon I start with, and as long as I'm using that weapon specifically, I'm proficient with it and get a +1 trait bonus to attack rolls.  So obviously, I'd rather not just toss it away for another magic weapon (that and it's probably hard to find a large greataxe...)

If nothing else, my character has the Craft Magic Weapons and Armor feat, so if you'd like I could have him enchant it for you if there is enough IC time and you front the money.  :D
