Didn't go into maces.. I had some nice axes starting out.. shock, fire, soul trap and such.. finding a dwarven axe with enchants when most of your foes are using iron or forsaken gear.. :D

That swing speed has had killed me more often than not.  And Sword crits happen a lot more than I expected, even if I only have one slot spent on it.

So I make a A&A thread but do I put it here?  No.  Of course not.

Also, I now come with Kung-Fu Blog action.  Here:  Where I talk about comics and all sorts of gaming

I got to admit.. the 'beheading crit' is evil.. it seems to me if it has 'vampire' in it's name.. it's 'ofrf wit 'is 'ead'

I've lost my head a couple of times in Skyrim.  Literally.

My current favorite toon is a Two-Hand Sword specialist, an Orc in full Daedric Plate (thank you gloombound mine and Mehrunes Dagon shrine!), with a Daedric greatsword, and when it comes to vampires now, their heads pop off like dandelions.  Every nest I go into is a slurry of broken thralls and headless vamps.  Not sure why they proc so much more often with that perk, but they do!

Shame ranged combat doesn't have cool animations like that.  If there were, it'd prolly be like an arrow to the eye/throat, then the enemy just stops and collapses.   Or the arrow would remove limbs and pin them to nearby walls, trees, etc.

So true. Melee combat gets the nifty tricked out kills but is the most annoying to actually use in gameplay. Lame. :|

On the other hand, I am in no way nostalgic for the VATS-style slowdown of constant crits I was getting in Fallout 3, so I dunno, I guess I probably prefer too few ranged special kills over too many.

I'll agree with this, defiantely.  The first couple of times you see it, it's pretty damn cool, but eventually you get tired of the "Slooooow dooooown head lop/impale/leg sweep" and you just want to get on with the battles.

Not me, man.  I could go all day watching those.  I do, actually, every time I play Skyrim.

Hell, I agree with Tsenta, VAT style kills with a bow would be wicked cool.

I like the kill shots so much that I downloaded a more realistic ragdoll mod for it.  That way the bodies react more real when killed.

I don't really like the leg sweep too much, but I wouldn't mind getting more decaps and impalings.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Tsenta

Kinda hoping they release those special kills for ranged/magic in one of the big DLCs. Unlikely I know but hey a guy can dream.  I think magic special kills would be kind of cool, like if you kill someone with a fire based spell they catch fire, freak out, then collapse.  Ice? Freeze solid then you shatter the new ice sculpture.  Y'know, stuff like that. >D

Can you decap kill a dragon? I know that I've climbed on him and beat him silly with single and dual weilded weapons

Cold Heritage

I think they already have the freezing one - one of the shouts lets you freeze someone solid, and if you whack them enough that they would die they shatter into pieces.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Tsenta

I love that shout but actually they thaw out right after the first attack. Basically you shout, freeze them, then you can flee, attack them so they thaw out, or leave them to take continual damage and thaw out on their own.

Lightning and ice both get special kills if you perk them out: lightning disintegrates enemies, ice freezes them. Fire just makes things run around in a panic.

Note that the lightning ashes to ashes effect even works on dragons. Which means you then get the dragon soul absorb wind effect from...a pile of dust. That is full of dragon bones. >.>

I love that they just use retextured models for ghosts. You know what that means? Incorporeal decapitatioooooon! Then they disappear into goop.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

I really can't wait until I can make a new PC so I can get Skyrim for PC and mod stuff for it.  Have a wicked idea for Lava themed mages/spells. Lava rune trap, enemy steps on it, floor turns to molten lava, enemy sinks into it and catches fire.  YES PLEASE! >D

Game breaker much?

Only for an RPG, not an action game. I have difficulty telling which Skyrim is at times.

And no, you can't say it's action-rpg, because people get VERY upset.

But... but... but it is! It's combat takes place in real time, where the user puts in the attack or defend commands. That makes it an action RPG. There's action there's role-playing. D:

Nope, RPG's have to be detached, overly technical, and above all else, mechanical. The second you start pressing an attack button, or, God save us, smack a ragdoll, you've entered dumb dumby dumbs Gears of Dumbs for dummies.

I'd say there's more action than role-playing in Skyrim. You don't really get much of a role to play. >.>

I never understood that... I've played plenty of role playing games where there's no roleplaying element whatsoever, your a no-name whose only identified by his loot. The only constants have been stats and loot, so I always associate items and numbers with role playing games, rather then actual role playing.

I know, it's stupid, but it's what I see :/

Skyrim has just as much role playing as any other Elder Scrolls game. Most of it's in the head of the player.
