Chaeronea

Okay, everyone, pay attention please. When I expressed my interest in this roleplay to our Goddess and GM I put up a list of characters I would be willing to play. What I didn't explect was that she approved all of them, so now I have to pick and choose which one I want to play. What I'm thinking about, rather than powers, is mental makeup and skills to bring to the team - I think it's pretty much a given that we're going to wind up forming into a hero group like the Avengers or Justice League. I've taken a look over the characters currently posted on the Bio thread to see what noteworthy backgrounds and skills they possess, and we have -

Witchblade: NYPD detective (law enforcement and investigative skills)
X-23: cloned combat specialist (stealth, close combat skills)
Wiccan: teenage mage (some arcane knowledge, although not sure - what I've seen of Billy's power use seems more like powers than spells)
Nightwing: professional vigilante (investigate skills, acrobatics, stealth, combat skills all out the wazoo)
Spider-Man: photographer (photography skills, stealth, chemistry and science skills)
Ms Marvel: former USAF officer and SHIELD agent (investigative and espionage skills, weapons skills, security procedures, military protocol)

The characters I suggested to Goddess for me to play are Cyclops, Havok, Spartan (combat leader of the WildCATs), and Gambit.

Using Cyclops as my character would give the team a pretty good leader, tactician and pilot as well as a formidable combatant. On the other hand firepower isn't something our group is likely to be short of.

In the comics Havok comes across as the relatively ordinary guy personality-wise, even if his powers are impressive (he's been described at least once as 'a man with nuclear bombs for hands'). His main skills are some leadership and diplomatic capabilities, which could be supplied by my character's base personality. So I'm seriously tempted to scratch that possibility.

Spartan is a biosynthetic android (also known as a 'bisey' - short for BSE or Bio-Synthetic Entity) who was literally built to lead the WildCATs in battle, so if my character 'became' Spartan he'd have a lot of tactical knowledge and leadership, combat skills, piloting skills and (if the GM permits) a tactical database of most known supervillians in his head. One of his powers is to link with most electronic devices or vehicles to operate them more effectively. Plus ElvenGoddess seemed to like the idea of me playing a robot / android character.

The finl option for me to pay is Gambit. While we already have investigative and streetwise skills covered by other members of the group (notably Witchblade and Nightwing, although Spidey and Ms Marvel might be able to help) Remy offers a way of looking at things from the criminal's side of things - 'set a thief to catch a thief' is a perfectly valid approach. He's described as one of the best thieves in the Marvel universe, so his thieving and stealth skills would be through the roof. He's a top-notch acrobat and one hell off a charmer.

So that's wat each choice can bring to the group. I'd be happy playing any of them, although I think Spartan or Gambit woulf be more useful for the group, but I'd like to hear other viewpoints.

Feedback is sought! Let me have it!
