The Crusade against darkness was fought for many years, crushing mercilessly any that they deemed evil. Monster after another was destroyed, or driven away to the wastelands, or the great darkness. They sought to eradicate all evil, and bring peace upon this land. Long time has passed since then, and the people have grown proud and lazy. They think they have defeated the evil in these lands, and that evil has been forever broken, banished away.

Within the stone and dirt of the great darkness, a heart began to slowly beat. Crimson eyes opened, and a young man slowly pulled himself to his feet. The chamber's floor was hard stone inlaid with mystical sigils around a pool with crimson glowing water. Within the water, a heart the size of a bed was beating slowly, but strongly. The walls were pushing back slowly, dirt pushed back and shattering, stone cracking and giving way leaving a smooth stone surface behind, a coating of stone replacing the last dirt walls, seeming to strengthen, as the walls of that chamber turned stronger, and stronger. Mana was infusing the chamber, and the heart's crimson glow illuminated the room even through the water within the round pool.

One of the walls cracked open large enough for a passage, and as it did, shadowy figures appeared there, given shape by the heart. He could feel the connection to the heart, and these shadows. They obeyed him. They were little more than 'dolls' that obeyed his will, digging their way through both dirt and weak stone quickly, starting to make way for passages, rooms, and to reach out to the distance, seeking riches. Seeking gold. Seeking...  the weak spots in the stronger stone, a pathway to the world above where the monsters had been banished from, and the passage to the deeper lairs of banished monsters.

He knew instinctively... that in order for the world to exist, it needed evil as much as it needed good. Corruption awaited if either side got too strong.

The game would take after 'Dungeon Keeper' series in a sense, partially being about an extending 'dungeon' the characters would both inhabit and defend, and the world above and below. The great darkness where monsters have been finding shelter from, and the above where they once dwelled as well before the great crusade.

It would also give room for the 'Master' to walk among the ones that would join him though, taking physical form, though preferring to still build his strength and protect the secret 'Dungeon Heart'. The heart a powerful magical place that both serves to 'bring back to life' at least the Master, but likely any fallen character as well.. trying to defend their home, and playing it from the side that 'monsters are not all sadistic bastards'. Perhaps partially being that at times, but also having their own reasons.

Would probably be a free-form game for those wanting to play monsters.

Would have NPC heroes try and breach into the tunnels at times, the monsters roaming the passages finding new passages as the dark 'minions' sought more wealth, and strengthened that 'stronghold' underground.

Could be there were also other 'Dungeon Masters' rising up in the darkness too, but some of them might be more sadistic, too sadistic even.. some might prefer one race over all others... (like a 'DM that only wants girls' for example) and so... there would be conflict... but there would be a theme as well.

Evil will always find a way...

curious, can the player be any type of demon or monster?

Do we also get to be an Overlord too? I mean, that's that game series tagline, up there: "Evil Always finds a Way...."

Wintercat

The thought was originally that the Master has began to establish a lair as a place for monsters to gather and stand up to challenges from the 'world above'. As well as possibly serving as a place for attacks to be launched from into the surface world at times.

I see it being a place where all kinds of monsters or demons could be played, and there might be some infighting, but the species admitting the dungeon's master is the one that controls its heart, because without the heart, its magic would soon fade. That magic in turn making it very hard for any 'mages at the topside' to affect them with things like earthquakes or scrying or teleportation magic. In a sense, keeping the place 'more like a fortress' indeed. That not being the only reason, but a rather good reason in itself already.

As for the Overlord bit, the quote felt fairly appropriate, and I personally view Overlord series as a 'inheritor' to the Dungeon Keeper's path on playing at the side of a villainous foe, but with a clear reason beyond just 'lets do evil for the sake of evil'.

I'd say that there could be bosses to various monsters that the monsters of those species respond to, but I'd doubt they'd all flock to the same boss. Say, an orc king of the Blackhand Tribe, and an Orc Warmaster of Redskulls Tribes could both be orc 'Overlords' in a sense, but they would command their own band of folks settled into the dungeons.

I'd rather the game didn't jump from the start to others playing 'rivalling dungeons'.

And if the Overlord question was to ask if someone else would assume the role of controlling everything? I'd rather not, as the thought originally was of wanting to try and play a game as the Dungeon Master in that sense, within a dungeon, though one mostly focused on walking among those said monsters as well. If there's another player trying to play the supreme ruler, it'd only degenerate to a civil war without end and bickering.

This would be a mostly free-form game though I imagine, don't see how it could take any rule-set to use.

Eh well, starting to feel a bit uncertain if this idea will lift off the ground but will wait and see.

So it's sort of a slice of life game that happens to be set in the lair of a dungeon keeper?

I'm intrigued. I think I could polish up a character concept for it easily.

If you wanted to go that direction, you could probably recruit people to play the adventurers as well.

I didn't consider that term, but I have to admit it does sound quite appealing. Fantasy world and set in the lives of the monsters, but rather than fearing every day that their homes will be invaded and their lives ended they would know they got a strong ally on their side that expects them to protect his Heart.. but also understanding that in doing so they also have a powerful ally at their side.

Could also be the Dungeon Heart's 'minions' gather wealth that is used to pay rewards to monsters, but wonder if there is in turn something the heart can do that the monsters are willing to part with gold for. Old 'Dungeon Keeper 2' example would be of course an underground monstrous 'casino', or perhaps 'tavern' would be more fitting. What with magic and 'minions' used to perhaps grow something or raise some creatures for meat in there, it could be a 'working economy'.

More to the point though, the players would take on the roles of dangerous, powerful monsters, likely the rare individuals among their races showing such real promise that they have made a name for themselves. A powerful minotaur known for decimating a whole band of junior adventurers alone, getting a tale that earns him free drinks for years to come, and a new dwarf-skull mug to drink from!

Or alternatively a sneaky drow elf noticing an elvish woman, a mage, among the heroes, and waiting for the perfect moment slipping in to strike a dagger with paralytic poison into the elfess and drag her away while the rest of the party is unaware. Perhaps even assisted by the Dungeon Heart to the extent that he's trying to flee with his 'booty' a trap or two might be unveiled in the way of the chasing heroes.

What better way to send the ghastly happy do-gooders to an early retirement afterall?

Of course, as the slice-of-life thought comes across, it could well have interesting time having the minotaur and drow chat or compete in something as well, and who knows what. Still, its a small idea at this phase, up for consideration.

Hmm, that would be an option I admit, players taking on the heroes could be interesting, but I'd hope they'd understand that the aim of the game is that the place is truely a villainous dungeon where their bravery and skill might very well still fail the test in the very end, given the powers at work.

Afterall, its hard to move on when a mystical presence can observe you as long as you travel on ground claimed by its magic, and even if you fought hard and cleared a particular passage of monsters that were still alive, they might find themselves flanked when monsters would arrive from both ends of the passage (I do love the idea of the "Dungeon Keeper" -esque 'grasped in the hand of evil' effect could occur, though perhaps in this case, 'teleported by the magic of the dungeon heart'. Allowing the monsters to defend their homes better.

Could well lead to some interesting roleplay between captives taken alive and the monsters that did the capturing, though.

And if it went that far, could also lead to a slave-market among the monsters >_> *Cough*

But that's getting way ahead and thinking way too big for a minor idea that is still at its starting point.

well if you wanted to let people play as adventures, I'd do it.

I could be a demon or something to though

either way I'm in.

Belisuavious

This sounds really interesting, and if you had room I'd like to be some kind of sneaky basterd. Perhaps like that Drow you mentioned earlier.

Kirinis

This sounds quite intriguing, I'll cast my cap into the ring for consideration.  Need some time to think of a concept though.

This is an interesting idea! For refinement, Wintercat, what you might want to do is have each player pick a single race.

While you, as the Dungeon Keeper, are in control of the dungeon, each of the players will be in control of the monsters/ evil demihumans they chose, and will directly play a sort of archetype of that creature as their character while freeforming the ongoings of their particular subsection of the dungeon.

Just a thought.

Wintercat

I wasn't sure if the idea would get off the ground, if there were fans of the series present that felt willing to try something like this out. Alright, if someone has a better suggestion I'd gladly hear it, but on aiming for the Nc-Exotic board, or Extreme, and freeform either way, I'd figure the below one should at least help.

I am starting to wonder if this should start out as a NC-Exotic Small-Group game and aim to see if we can make it into a Big-Group game at some point if the idea seems interesting enough

On that note, also delete the information within the brackets () freely, its just meant as examples to clarify what I mean. Also, only got thoughts for the monster one at the moment right now, but I imagine with small changing it could be used for a hero just as well.

Hellion, that sounds like an interesting idea, but I'd hate to find players arrive and find the 'early arrivers' already claimed all the 'good races'. Though I think that the idea of playing some of the same race as NPCs wouldn't be bad at all, especially for a free-form game it would help me a lot as a 'storyteller' or Dungeon Keeper with this.

Hellion000

Man, there's easily dozens of 'evil' races to choose from. Even beyond standard D20 tropes of Goblins, Orcs, and whatnot, I'm sure that people could find something to do.

Also, if someone comes in and wants to play an already chosen race you could set them up as either a Lt. to the first player or, possibly better, a rival. *shrugs* Just something to ponder.

Wintercat

You do have a good point. Maybe it would be an interesting to try it out like that, if the people felt they were upto it.

I don't have anything against the traditional Monsters from the Dungeon Keeper games either, but figured that some folks here would be unfamiliar with the "Bile Demons", "Mistresses" and "Horned Reapers" as well. At least the last would make for a rather frightening figure to have around though, given their sheer tendency to get very pissed off very easily.

normal everyday form
form when she is angered or going in for the kill.
Name:  Isis
Race:  Demon/ Succubus
Class:  Man Killer/ Soul Stealer
Best Ability:  Sucks the life out of her victim during sex, feeds off their souls as they die
Least Ability:  Physical combat

Gender:  Female
Preference:  Preferred gender of partner, male, but will kill a female during sex as well. Dominant with her victims, but if the right demon comes along , she could be persuaded to be submissive to him.
Ons:  She's a succubus, there are very little things she won't do
Offs:  bathroom play

Appearance:  Isis is a deadly beauty. She has two forms, one when she is calm and relaxed. One when she is angered or ready to kill her victim. She is tall around five foot nine with dark blonde hair. Here eyes are ever changing depending on her mood. she can go from, blue to green, to silver to red. She is slender and so sexy, very hard to resist when she charms you. Her legs are long, and she just oozes of sexiness. Her wings go from brown to flame depending on what she is doing. She had no tail, but she does have a set of small horns that rest a top her luscious locks.
Background:  Isis was born out of hell, a dark child of the devil himself. She was sent to seduce and destroy man as a child of the darkness. She is quite good at what she does, taking down armies at a time. She carries a rose with her from time to time, one of her weapons of seduction. The scent of the pose entices her victim, lulls him (or her) into a calm serene state. Then her charms take over. She has been known to take a man down in less than a minute, feed off their soul, then destroy their body. If she's feeling playful, she tortures them for hours if she wants.
She is respectful of other demons and creatures of the darkness, she never crosses the line or steps on toes, in turn garnering respect for her as well. Some have been known to bring her their victims to watch in glee as Isis kills them slowly.

Belisuavious

Name:  Rildia Devirr
Race:  Drow
Class:  Rogue/ Sneaky git
Best Ability:  Shadow Walking. This is where I steal from Wetboys, but this ability is where he cloaks himself in a shadow, so he appears to be nothing more than a blurred shape. Of course if he's in strong enough light (Torch thrust into his face, broad daylight, massive bonfire, etc;) then it doesn't work, since he has nothing to blend with.
Least Ability:  Trap setting. He makes up his plans on the go, and the idea of pre-planning a route enough to set a trap seems like a waste of time to him.

Gender:  Male
Preference:  Female. Prefers to dominate when the need arises.
Ons:  Well, I'll just play by ear, I'm open to try whatever isn't on my off list
Offs:  Toiletplay, scat, "taking" anything, gory stuff.

Appearance:  Rildia stands around 5'11, his body a compact wiry model. Though he's not the strongest monster in the dungeon, he has manged to surprise both some of the wandering heroes and a couple of his fellow monsters who thought him to be easy prey. He wears his white hair at about shoulder length and ties it back in a low ponytail before fights when he gets a chance. His facial features are typical of any elf; high, well defined cheekbones, strong jawline and almond shaped purple eyes. His clothing is made up of a couple of layers, the first being his everyday, general purpose outfit of a black shirt and pants, along with dark leather boots that reach almost to the knee. When out fighting he puts on a hardened leather breastplate, steel greaves and bracers that he covers with pitch. His belt and weapons are simpe affairs, lacking the gaudy jewelry that some love to affix their weapons with and are simply functional murder tools. A sabre is his main weapon, about 30" altogether, with the blade making up 25 of those inches. A bowie knife on his right hip and a slim stilleto complete his arsenal, though he has been known to use spears and hand axes on occaison.
Background:  Rildia was born to one of the minor houses in the Underdark. Growing up he was hardly remarkable, neither excelling or failing in any of the tests he faced. He did enjoy patrolling outside the great city though, keeping the monsters at bay. It was during this time that he was patrolling when a rival house moved in and completely wiped out his family. He found out when one of his fellow soldiers tried to knife him during a rest stop. Fighting his way clear, understanding what was happening back in the city, Rildia ran further into the underdark, and eventually found himself in The Dungeon. Figuring that this was a good a place as any to set up, especially since he found out that whatever happened before The Dungeon didn't matter, only what happened inside.

He gives off the impression of being extremely distant whenever he talks with other denziens of The Dungeon, though a small smile seems to play around his lips at times as though he is the only one who has heard the joke. He enjoys his position, as well as the benifits that it brings, like the scantily clad mages or other adventurers that come wandering along the corridors.

Syene

Name:  Leith
Race:  Water Spirit
Class:  Temptress
Best Ability:  Enchanting Voice (Leith has a voice compelling enough to entice most typical creatures into certain death. Even creatures powerful enough not to be utterly entranced still feel a powerful draw to her.)
Least Ability: Seduction (Despite her innately sensual beauty, Leith isn't actually much of a seductress, relying instead of the power of her voice.)

Gender:  Female
Preference: Leith is aggressive with anyone she can entrance, but submissive around anyone powerful enough to dominate her. She prefers male partners, but may occasionally become involved with females.
Ons:  see Ons and Offs
Offs:  bathroom play, permanent mutilation

Appearance:  If Leith's voice was meant to enchant, so too was her body. She is a petite, fey-looking creature with a lusciously feminine body, nicely-proportioned breasts, a slim waist, and a shapely behind. Her facial features are sharp and delicate. She has green-streaked, blonde hair, which is somehow always wet. The color of her eyes varies depending on her mood through various shades of blue and green. Her soft, delicate lips always glisten with moisture. She generally wears a soaking wet, white shift that clings to her every curve like a second skin.
Background: Once, Leith was a human maiden -- a young, naive girl with the voice and soul of an angel. Seduced and betrayed by her lover, she was cast into a sinkhole to drown as punishment for her sins. Although her body quickly decayed, her angry spirit clung to existence for many years until it drifted close to the Dungeon Heart. Transformed by the powerful flows of wild magic there, her spirit was reshaped into something far more powerful than any disquiet ghost. Now she is a temptress, mad and lonely, luring men to their deaths with the power of her enchanting voice. Having no need to breathe when immersed in water and a supernaturally strong swimmer, Leith dwells in an underground lake within the caves surrounding the Dungeon Heart. Along with most of the adventurers who come her way, more than a few goblins and orcs have disappeared into her lake.

I'm extremely tempted to join, but I can't commit until I understand/know what the game play is going to be like. >_>

From what I gather you wanted something lax in a sense you'd let the PCs play out the lives of demons living in the shadows under the understanding that they now have this new and powerful ally to protect them from crusades and other forces of light, but you are considering having players play more than one character per race as NPCs, assuming the character has a clan or another player bumps into that race.
Did I get that right? >___>

If I were to create a character I'd make a Mananaggal, which is one of the many variations of an asian vampiric creature.  A beautiful woman by day, at night when she needs to feed she grows wings and separates herself from her lower half.  A Mananagal's diet consists of unborn children and blood.
Would she count as a type of vampire or would she be a race of her own?

Hmm? The goal at first at least is to establish the setting proper, seeing the characters interactions as well, and having the play take shape on that, a 'slice of life' felt a fairly good term for this phase. Later on seeing about more plot to it as well, but it ought to be clear that the whole 'crusade' that has been going on in the world above is rather brutal towards monsters, and anyone else the crusade's leaders find 'evil'.

So perhaps they'll arrive to try and cause trouble as well, or the folks from the darkness might head on up from time to time. Also the chance of heroes becoming aware of a new path to the darkness has opened, and heroes coming to challenge it, hoping to get wealthy and earn fame.

I think what you describe is unique enough they could be counted as their own 'race' alright, very likely 'cousin' to more 'traditional' vampires. Oh and I'll ask nobody to make a Twilight vampire, I'd rather the game was indeed for 'monsters' as opposed to the more humanized vampires.

Then again, humans and other 'good races' might be welcome as well, if they came with evil in their heart.

Remembering the 'Dungeon Keeper' series, there were a few humans afterall. Dark Knights (frightening foes and anti-paladins), Warlocks (bastardly mages of dark secrets!), Mistresses (scary sadists & fearless fighting force) and Rogues (sneaky scouts and backstabbers!) to start with.

This is quite the interesting idea you got going on Wintercat, and Lovely!  You had to go and steal my thunder lol.  Oh well, there's more than one way to skin a cat.  If I had known this was here sooner I might have gotten to that part first, but it's all cool.  I'm sure I can think of something equally fun.   ;D

This is an attempt at working out some things for my book I'm writing with another here on E, who goes by the name of Elf.  A militaristic, sexy vampire you might say.   >:)  I hope this works out as well as I plan but time will tell.

Name:  Cecilia Shard
Race:  Vampire
Class:  Warrior, military leader.
Best Ability:  Sword and shield
Least Ability:  Stealth

Gender:  Female
Preference:  Doesn't matter to me really.  (IC however she'll mostly be dominate.)
Ons:  O/O
Offs:  O/O.  (Bathroom play, death, permanent mutilation.)

Appearance:  Lithe, pale skinned, red eyed former twin Cecilia Shard is the epitome of human beauty with a dark twist given her curse of forever being a child of the night and darkness.  Cecilia has raven, long flowing black hair that is always perfectly maintained despite her bloody reputation as being an unstoppable force on any battlefield, so long as the light of day does not find her.
Background:  Cecilia Shard is hell bent on revenge, her twin sister, a formerly powerful undead mage, having been slain by adventurers only a century ago.  Finding the ones responsible has changed her considerably from her usual soft spoken but ultimately dangerous self to a much more aggressive stance on things, but finding the Dungeon Heart and the creatures that protect it has given her a new direction in life, while she still seeks to find the ones responsible for her sister's death.

(In the story she still has her twin, but for this she will not.)

I'll remark this now then, the idea for this has been with me for a long time, but I doubted it'd get any real attention, being too much of a fan-thought. Of course, in hindsight it seems that I should have just slapped it on the table for Elliquiy's people earlier already, but I had my doubts. I spoke of it with a friend and decided to post it and see if it got any attention or not.

For a few days it seemed it would be left as a game without any real posts to it, but it seems a few people have taken an interest, so I can only say, I'm surprised and pleasantly so.

I didn't intend to 'steal the thunder' and I'd appreciate if you leave my fur where it is, or this cant wont pur anymore.

I'll be putting up a thread somewhere along this weekend. I think this game has such characters it'll likely be able to flourish with the folks interacting with one another, and the 'DM' role for this is mainly to help out with some materials and more likely I'll play the avatar of the Dungeon Heart in the dungeons, or the black shadowy figures moving to dig and excavate more.

Vergil, your character looks good, I think she will have a chance to explore her scenario too. Whether or not she intends to head on the surface at some point to hunt for her sisters' killers or investigate any that come down to the underground for clues, it ought to be interesting still.

On that note, other players who consider taking up a 'hero' role, there's the option of having something to know about this vampiress' now dead sister, or ultimately, someone might -be- the killer.

On such a thought however, I'd request agreeing with the player (Vergil) about it beforehand.

Name:  Kulimlim
Race:  Mananangal
Class:  Assassin
Best Ability:  Path finding and stealth. It is said that the closer a mananangal is, the less sounds she makes.
Least Ability:  Charisma.

Gender:  Female
Preference:  Heterosexual, can be either dominant or submissive
Ons:  Non-consensual, mild to mid level blood-play and almost anything else.
Offs:  Scat, impaling, gore and extreme mutilation.

Appearance:  Untransformed, Kulimlim is a beautiful woman with a youthful face, and a curvy, but smooth and slender build.  While not in battle, she tends to look like a lost human girl even to her fellow creatures of the underground, mischievous yet maybe even a little innocent. While her height may not be intimidating, when provoked, her eyes show a tint of her true nature: chaotic neutral. She cannot be killed while she is untransformed, but in this form Kulimlim's power is more than halved.

When in her demon form, her appearance changes almost completely. For starters, she detaches herself from her bottom half. Her face becomes more humanoid than anything, growing long and jagged teeth with wings with a long, straw-like tongue for feeding.  In this form she is at her most powerful, and her most vulnerable.  When a mananagal cannot reconnect with her lower half before she is hit by sunlight, she will die.  To try to counteract this, Kulimlim wears a special trinket.  It is a device that allows her to cast a concealing spells on her lower half when she transforms.  This trinket is her most prized possession and she guards it fiercely.
Because of her weakness and her nomadic nature, she transforms only when truly necessary.
Background:  Kulimlim is searching for a way to remedy her one major weakness.  She does not enjoy having to transform in total fear.  Living in the underbelly as a powerless demon is hard, and the beings in the underground cannot be trusted.  Her kind make for great slaves, powerful yet easily overpowered once their lower half is taken away or, worse, enchanted.  She has seen many of her kin in cages and she does not want to follow in their footsteps.
Kulimlim has heard of a new, dark power and with this power, she hopes to find a way to rid herself of her weaknesses.  She is tired of living in constant fear.

Thanks! :) I'm quite proud of her myself!

A mananagal is a witch-demon from my corner of Asia :d They're demons that take the shape of young women by day and by night they feed on unborn children or blood. They're pretty mean creatures.
I like the potential for your character.  She's going to be great for the build up of any future plot :D

Name: Demvarien the Warped
Race: Tainted Human
Class: Blackguard
Best Ability: Melee Combat (Particularly Swordsmanship)
Least Ability: Dark Magic

Gender: Male
Preference: Hetero, Dominant
Ons: Reference my O/O's.
Offs: Reference my O/O's. (Some are negotiable for the sake of story. Feel free to ask.)

Appearance: Demvarien is of average height and relatively slender build, but covered in muscle from wearing his armor almost constantly. He has long, straight, black hair, fair skin with the faintest tinge of gray, and his eyes glow with an unholy blue light. He has handsome, strong features, in some places almost sharp. Many of his less-than-human features, such as the glow in his eyes, the gray in his skin, and the nails that have almost turned to claws, are physical signs of his corruption by darkness. Pictured is his armor and weapon of choice, a massive, sentient blade known as Anarazel.
Background: Demvarien was once a paladin, a holy warrior and a beacon of righteousness. Historians, today, debate what happened to him; whether he went insane, was seduced by the power of darkness, or maybe -- just maybe -- he really was hearing the voice of his god, and this was where his god chose to lead him.

Demvarien was a leader of a relatively large chapter of the Knights of the Holy Sword, an order dedicated to eradicating evil wherever it slept. One day, as he was praying in their chapterhouse's chapel, the paladin heard a voice deep inside his head; a voice that he believed was his god speaking to him for the first time. The voice told him of a den of evil beasts nearby, in the hidden lair of a long-dead Lich. Demvarien led his knights in the assault, and the Lich's remaining minions were eradicated. Just as they were about to destroy the complex utterly, however, the voice told him to stay his hand, and Demvarien ordered his men to stand down.

Thus began his fall, as the voice urged him on. It started slow; as zealotry and mercilessness against the enemies of good. But his methods soon became more and more questionable. The efforts to utterly eradicate evil began in no small part due to his efforts. But then, he destroyed everything his order could reach. Months, and even years passed. The voice stopped speaking to him.

Then, out of the blue, it came back, and told Demvarien what he had to do. He was to take his knights, go to the Lich's lair, and take it as their base of operations. Then, they would submit to darkness. For good cannot exist without evil.

Demvarien did as he was told, taking those members of his chapter that were as fanatically devoted as he was, and killing the rest. Once they arrived, he found two powerful artifacts in the Lich's vault. The sword Anarazel, and a great, black gem that pulsed with an evil light; at one time, the Lich's phylactery, no longer able to resurrect him but still infused with power. That voice told him what to do as soon as he laid eyes upon the two. Demvarien took Anarazel and slammed it into the crystal, the gem shattering as all of its horrid power changed him. He gained the strength and speed of ten men, a significant part of the Lich's former magical power, and the ability to control the lair. He bestowed the gift of darkness on many of his knights, who he renamed the Knights of the Blackened Sword, but none gained his magical power as well.

Eventually, Demvarien was slain along with the vast majority of his knights. But his armor, crafted for him by the lair itself soon after he destroyed the phylactery, became something of a phylactery itself. Given enough time, deep in the bowels of the earth, the armor could bring their leader back. So they traveled, made their way to a new home, and fell dormant, to be awoken many years later, when a single heart began beating once again.

Its an interesting concept as it is, and while reading it I got a bit suspicious momentarily if it was establishing a new lair entirely. it seems though that it is not the case.

If you take up playing that knight I'll assume he's been brought back to life within the dungeon dug deep within the heart alongside the other monsters. The knight might have a rule among the still living other knights (as players are allowed to control some NPCs around them of the same race, something that was not originally part of the idea but which was suggested and considered reasonable after someone suggested the thought), but as for the rest of the dungeon there will  be other personable monsters (and champions / leaders of their race) present there.

I doubt even the Heart has any 'complete control' on people, merely the heart is able to shield the lair from magic such as teleportation and magic cast from outside the place from reaching into the place, giving the dungeons a measure of more security than dungeons beyond its reach would have.

Anyhow, been tired and unable to post for a while, now making the starting post though.

Yeah, I was thinking that he has four NPC knights remaining who follow his orders, and though he was once a Dungeon Master, now he's just a badass. The knights are as physically strong/fast as he is (though not as skilled), but they have zero talent for magic.

I had an idea for the rp in general though. What if we had people post sketches/outlines of heroes they'd like to fall into their character's clutches, along with information on how long the part is likely to last, and then allowed other players to claim that NPC role and act out the scene?

I have nothing against that idea at all. You could toss a suggestion in the game's OOC thread too, to make sure it would be noticeable to folks that might not check this thread again after hearing the game is on the move, well not sure if that happens but just in case.

I think it might work, it just needs the right players behind it and to be tested and tried out. Seems cool to me.

Krayz

Name: Kestriel the Heartless
Race: Part Human, Part Demon (He replaced his soul with demonic essence; not born, but made)
Class: Warlock
Best Ability: Demon Magic
Least Ability: Fighting (with his demon-augmented body)

Gender: Male
Preference: Dominating Females
Ons: Domination, humiliation, exhibitionism, extreme sadism
Offs: Toiletry

Appearance: For the most part, Kestriel appears to be human. Aside from his hands and the horns on his head, his form is perfectly human, with dark brown hair, a silver earring in his right ear, and a slightly-above-average phallus (around 7-8 inches, fully erect). His body does not have a single hair on it, aside from his head. His hands below the elbow, however, are coated in a thick, red scaly hide, with razor-sharp talons on the ends of his fingers. As well, he has a set of wings with the same texture that extend from his shoulderblades. Kestriel possesses one last feature that is out of the ordinary, however. His eyes have a crimson schlera, and his black pupils look like those of a cat.

Background: Kestriel was not born with that name, or the great power he now possesses. When he was born, his name was Niall. He was the third son of a well-off farmer, but many accused his mother of bearing another man's child, because he was nothing like the rest of his siblings, or his father. He did not grow up to be sturdy, but slender and weak. His wit was far sharper than any of his family, and he held them in nothing but contempt, and they responded in kind. Nor was he popular among the villagers, but was instead mocked for his frailness and his brooding demeanour.

When Niall turned six, he was given to the apprenticeship of the renowned wizard Al'alim Muamin, master conjurer from lands far to the south. The man saw in Niall the potential to be a powerful magician, even if he did not entirely approve of the boy's character. For the next several years, Niall learned the arts of binding spirits to do the bidding of the summoner, and he treated his master with the utmost respect. However, underneath, he hated Al'alim, because on the one hand he held Muamin's strong morals in contempt, but on the other hand, he could not deny the wizard's great power. And so he studied all the harder, working to prove himself greater than his master that he despised so much.

Niall's life was forever changed when he was 15. Al'alim had gone to sleep for the night, and Niall went among the people of the tavern. There, he found himself in desperate want of one of the tavern maidens. She rebuffed him with a laugh, however, mocking his weak body and lack of charm. Niall left the common room, followed by the laughter of the rest of the tavern. That night, he called for the spirit of a demon, demanding to know how to become powerful, surpass his master, and make all those who thought him weak pay. The demon, a trivial creature but well within the limits of Niall's abilities, suggested he speak to a more powerful creature, offering to show him the spell he needed. Niall was no fool, however, knowing he was not strong enough to handle such a creature, and so he dismissed it and bided his time.

Ten years later, Niall knew himself to be ready, and he called forth a more powerful creature. This one taught him a secret ritual, through which it could take a demon's soul and replace his own with it, granting him great power and the strength of a demon. Niall then performed the ritual upon the very demon he had summoned; the creature had expected this, and believed Niall too weak to defeat it, instead intending to rip Niall's soul out of him and drag it back with him to the abyss.

Niall succeeded, however, and part of him died that night, lost with his human soul. What remained were the darkest parts of that already-malevolent boy. He was not Niall Perrinsson anymore; he took upon himself the name Kestriel the Heartless. And Kestriel the Heartless was strong; even the skin that still appeared human was as strong as the toughest leather, and the demonic scales that covered his hands and formed his new wings were stronger than steel and completely fireproof. He had the strength of an ogre, capable of tossing normal men and shattering their bones with ease, and he was as quick as a cat. He could run for days and never tire. He had the eyes of a hawk, the ears of a fox, and the sense of smell of a bloodhound, and the ability to sense dark powers. And above all this, he still possessed great power over the darkest creatures from the deepest pits of the netherworld.

His first act with his new strength was to tear his former teacher's throat out.

Next, he made his way back to the town where, ten years ago, the bar maid had mocked him. She had a family by then, and Kestriel called form demons to tear her children to pieces in front of her as he raped her over the dead body of her husband. He did not tell her why he did it, only that he was Kestriel the Heartless, and to run and save her wretched hide. She did so, screaming until she had no voice, and then screaming some more, running through the streets naked, her body bloody and defiled. Smiling softly, he left, disappearing from that town forever. He felt something calling him, something buried deep, beating within the earth...

Hm, I might be interested in making a character.  Not sure what type, but I generally play females, and I only play with female subs (characters, that is, not players).

Vergil1989

We need heroes as well Sethala but I think that you can do both a villain as well as a hero but I'd check with Wintercat first on that one.  Still, nothing wrong with that and I'm sure I could NPC a female sub for you among my vampire cronies I have going for Cecilia since Cecilia herself is a dom, but she is capable of being sub if the right person manages to put her in her place lol.

Sethala

Hmm, interesting idea.  I do enjoy playing female subs, as well, so I'm definitely up for doing both, or just a victim.

And, I decided to salvage an idea from another defunct RP and go with a wolf-girl for my character.  (Not an actual werewolf, though she probably fights as good as one).  Looks like Fonfon from Raidy, but has Aisha Clanclan's personality/voice.

Wintercat

Lots of posts going on between a few people. Well, still looking forward to the characters. Also, a valid concern was recently brought up if this is sliding from the plots to a glorified opportunity for Dom/sub pairing.

While I believe that naughty roleplay should be given a chance, I also think its upto the players to decide whether they want to pursue that (and possibly make up side-threads at some point for it) or to play out a plot involving the characters.

Characters with conflict within them are already becoming a part of the world and offering hooks to tie in with. Vergil made a vampire with a vengeance in mind for a heroine, which could turn rather bloody too at that.

Using the above example, I could see at least a few way how the dangerous combat waltz between Vampire and Heroine could turn out when they clash.

I'm considering the option of having monsters 'resurrected' at Dungeon Heart if they actually fell, at least the 'bosses' of monsters, not the NPCs, and perhaps the heroes on the other hand, if brought out of the dungeon by their companions, could be resurrected back in the kingdom above.

That does give the monsters a homefield advantage in the dungeon, but who is to say that it all takes place in the dungeon? Monsters could also become impatient and rise up to roam the countryside, only to face the heroes above at the surface, and on their terms, dangerously.

@Krayz, Kestriel looks good we have a few demon-types but someone who switched their soul for a more demonic one is new, I imagine that there wont be too many 'similar' folks (NPCs) around for him to command but imagine they make up for it by their capability (or if you prefer, Kestriel can be 'unique' unless someone else chooses to play a similar sort). I think that a Dark Knight played a similar choice, having -few- but -strong- companions, NPCs.

@PaleEnchantress, the game is set in 1 dungeon and its surroundings (to avoid having it split to too many places with the small amount of players we have) so far, and the Dungeon Keeper position is a dm or co-dm position. I have suggested only 1 such position, for a ruler of the land above, the co-dm helping out since the heroes idea is being fleshed out). I have no trouble with the concept of a homosexual male, maiden-type or otherwise, but its the dungeon keeper part that is a bit hard to help out with.

Maybe if the game thrives and gets enough players that its feasible to have other dungeons start up in the story, but with less than a dozen players having more than 1 dungeon seems like it could end up with a lot of people just 'waiting around' with nothing happening in game. Just bringing up my own concern there.

@Sethala, I hope this game brings out more than just dom/sub gaming, but if the D/s aspect is the one you crave for, feel free to set something up with other players andn play a character for that purpose. If it gets into a rapid back-and-forth play though, it could become a small side-thread to keep from flooding the main game thread later.

Hopefully that is understandable and agreeable.

#53
Name: Sephariel Fluorspar
Race: Half Human, Half Angel
Class: Apostle
Best Ability: Healing Magic and Light Magic
Least Ability: Melee Combat

Gender: Female
Preference: Bisexual (Prefers Females), Neither dominant nor submissive
Ons: Romance, Compassion, Kindness, Mercy, Certain species of monsters
Offs: Violence, Sadism, Torture

Appearance: With soft, pale skin and vivid, deep blue eyes Sephariel is possessed of an almost radiant beauty. Her hair is silky and long, cascading down her shoulders to the small of her back with a pair of braids elegantly draping down along the front of her shoulders. A trio of sacred gryphon feathers adorn her headdress and she wears robes of the purest white. Recently she has taken to wearing aspects of black beneath her robes, such as her gloves and leggings, as a symbol of duality and balance. Her staff of intertwining ebony and ivory emits a soft, warm light, that allows her to see without harming the monsters around her and a glowing pair of radiant white wings appears upon her back whenever she uses magic.
History: A blessed virgin from a small village far beyond the reaches of the Church, Sephariel was allegedly born through the will of God when an angel came down to impregnate her infertile mother. As a small child, she offered healing to the sick and wounded, adorned by a pair of glowing white wings whenever she performed her miracles, and it wasn’t long before the Church sent its knights to fetch her. Declared an Apostle by the Church, Sephariel travelled the land to bring ease to those who were suffering.

During her early teenage years the Church declared the Great Crusade, summoning heroes from all over the realm to slaughter the monsters that inhabited the land. Travelling with them under the constant protection of the Seraphim Guard, Sephariel never continued to heal those who were wounded and brought sacred light down upon the battlefield, bringing miraculous victories wherever she went. It was said that her holy blood, once spilt, would burn the wicked and heal the righteous. Disgusted by the bloodbath of the Crusade, Sephariel also healed innocent monsters where she was able and after the Crusade ended she disappeared completely, never to be seen again. She was soon honoured as a martyr by the Church.

No one, not even the monsters who she now lives amongst, knows what happened to her after this also rumours claim that she is the one who awakened and nurtured the Dungeon Heart. What is known is that she has grown disgusted by the so called heroes gathering on the surface and shows great compassion for those living within the catacombs, who she refuses to label as monsters. Although a human virgin, she is able to walk freely amongst the monsters, offering them healing and comfort, with the Heart decreeing that none shall touch her without consent.

Okay, I personally have a hard time picturing an angel walking around the undergroundwithout getting attacked from time to time, even if she is on the side of monsters.  Maybe you should give her some ward spells? Or a natural shield from evil that her holy blood gives her, haha

I was sort of picturing myself as being in a very precarious situation in which the Heart's orders that I not be harmed being the only thing that kept me alive. I imagine that a lot of them would want to tear me apart just on principle alone, and some might even have bad memories of me during my role in the Crusade.

Due to my non-combat emphasis I was thinking that I might be able to serve as the Avatar's Voice and messenger, bringing his orders to more isolated chambers or in instances where he needs to conserve his energy. That is, of course, if Winter thinks that's okay.

I like the concept and I think that if she was 'the first hero to stumble across the heart' but did not destroy it when it was still weak and growing, but helped it grow stronger, then the Heart's Avatar would likely have taken a stance that she is welcome in the tunnels, and indeed that she is not to be harmed without provocation.

Without provocation being the key word, the Avatar would not give anyone 'total immunity' in the dungeons, but marking her as someone that should not be attacked unless she attacks them first, I think that would be something the heart might agree to. Besides, as the moral ambiguity goes in this game, the good cannot exist without evil, and perhaps the Angel has come among monsters for the sole reason that the crusade has brought out the 'dark side' in the crusaders and other 'heroes'. Not all, but some.

All in all, it breaks stereotypes and she's in a precarious situation but it could turn to be very interesting. I think its definitely worth trying.

Also, the Dungeon Heart is not 'omnipotent' by any means, its just powerful in its own domain, and closer to heart, the stronger it is. Things like 'picking up creatures' in its 'astral hand' and 'setting them down' elsewhere expends some of the heart's stamina, so it wont happen often (not wanting to be game-breaking by any means that is) but its a possibility at least (giving the monsters a bit of 'home field advantage').

There's been a comment in the in-game thread by now that they dont yet have a huge temple ready for worship of the 'Dark Gods' that would grant the heart magic for truely frightening spells, but figure she would have some sanctuary near the heart, possibly a section of a small lair somewhere that she can head out from to heal the monsters and walk among them.

Anyway, I'm going to just nod my head to the idea and think it would be interesting.

Again, the Heart is not omnipotent, and the monsters are not 100% under complete mind-control or anything, so she might still want to be -careful- especially around parts the Heart doesn't watch that closely, and especially among the demons and other beings that have the most 'grudge'.

Hope that cleared the air any? Anyway, welcome aboard.

(( And I originally read it as her being a hero too, before reaching the end and realizing what she had done. Clever idea. ))

Hopefully that is understandable and agreeable.

Ah, i just misunderstood a bit on how much dungeon control we had or that it was one dungeon. No problem on me making him not a dungeon master. Im thinking of changing my concept a bit. I think androgynous nymph blood mage who's villiany is driven by an extreme need to be "Fairest of them all". His strongest power would be that he is already so beyond mortal beauty that looking at him is fatal, though very powerful creatures would just risk blindness.

In his vanity he despises those who are beautiful and pure. A radiant young maiden would draw his hatred and well built warrior of high morals would need to be broken. Shall I produce a profile?

I think that kind of a monstrous being would be a scary foe for intruders, and make for some interesting roleplay among fellow monsters as well. Go ahead and put together a profile, and feel free to comment into the OOC thread once you have the profile ready, see if you can bring other players in the game to pick up a conversation with your monster and we'll begin to see where his vanity and power lead him?

Medical Miracle

Name: Vespa
Race: Demonic Fey
Class: Rogue/Spirit Guide
Best Ability: Vespa has the uncanny ability to produce almost any mundane item seemingly from nowhere. It’s hard to tell if this is a combination of foresight and sleight of hand or if it's mystic in nature.
Least ability: Sneaking; Vespa is light of foot and silent by nature, her ability is more akin to not being noticed. Anybody actively trying to find her will probably succeed.

Gender: Female
Preference:Uncaring; due to her apathetic nature Vespa ends up in a submissive position rather than dominate. She will usually give in to another’s will depending on their persistence; she may even dominate someone if they force her to.
Ons:O/O
Offs:O/O

Appearance:  Vespa appears to be a woman in her mid twenties. In reality she could be any age, though she could not say; time seems to be a fleeting issue for her. Her void black eyes make it difficult to tell what her attention is fixated on, but her expression often implies that it’s nothing of consequence. She has a pointed figure with many sharp features, expressly her nails and petite horns atop her head. At first glance they look sinister, perhaps predatory, upon consideration they give the impression they’ve never been used for any kind of assertive action during her existence. All her features are fair, yet listless. Her skin tone is most certainly pale, but it appears as though it’s worn out it coloration even further; her hair is similar in that it looks as though it could have been considered blond or even red at one point, now it barely holds on to any semblance of hue. Gray is the theme of Vespa’s pallet, never will you find her seeking out exciting or exotic styles in her appearance, though it could be conceived that somebody may force her to do so, she would not object. Her clothes are faded black and gray with simple metal adornments, be it a bracelet or a pair of basic earrings. She may change her attire but it will never stray far from these outlines; she usually opts for loose hanging cloth. One may find her cloths to be torn or stained, but never filthy; the same goes for her hygiene. She seems to stay clean not by merit of diligent care for her being, but rather a rejection of change by her essence.

Background: Apathy can be defined as a sort of "obscure evil", one which makes the victim unable to live in solitary places, in silence, no longer in a state of deep calmness and peace. That person may experience feelings of spiritual emptiness and disgust, having a cynical attitude towards other people and life in general. They will long for liberation from this oppressive inner state of imprisonment. It is in fact a spiritual illness, when the soul gets disoriented and slips into denial of all accomplishments that person has made throughout their earthly existence.

Vespa is a daughter of Apathy. Born of Akedia, the “Demon of Boredom”. Vespa is not intimate with the details of her creation, nor will she ever desire to be. Her father has placed her in many locations during the span of her existence, never once with any inclination of a goal. He does not give nor does she seek to receive. She has been slain on a number of occasions, each time she finds herself placed back in to the mortal world, usually in a similar location. She is not immortal, nor is she under the delusion that such is the case, only that a higher power pulls certain strings attached to her being. One day she found herself placed within the confines of “The Dungeon”, she carried on as she always had, listlessly and without ambition.

Vespa has a habit of endlessly wandering the dungeon, periodically with extended rests seemingly without reason. She holds no hostility towards any of inhabitants, nor towards any wanderers that may have found their way into this dark recess of the world. Do not mistake her pacifistic nature for support in your endeavours; she has abandoned just as many as she has assisted, only ever is it a matter of when. Sometimes these timely desertions come with dire results. She responds to wilful commands and insistence, for she has no drive to oppose. She does have a will though, and will not perform an act if it does not conform to her sense of apathy. Individuals may find her uncanny due to her willingness to assist the likes of both evil and good, what they may not grasp is that this “assistance” is more akin to spectating then anything. Vespa is also not deprived of emotion; she possesses a unique psychology that includes apathy as an emotion rather than a vague felling. Needless to say that it is the most overpowering of her emotions. Her motivations are transparent and easily discarded if they even ever existed at all, but perhaps there is something slightly less mundane about her persona if the situation is particular enough…

Throughout her lifespan, Vespa has been considered many things: An omen, a vagrant, a demon and a lover. She could be considered to be all or none of these things. Do not ask her option on the matter, you will be left wanting. One of her more tragic tales may include a poor farmer that fell in love with Vespa in the distant past. She had been wandering in a forest of a name she’ll never know. A young man, of both a kind heart and unfortunate circumstances came across her; from then on he was cursed, cursed with the love he felt for her. He took her in, mistaking her for a forest spirit; he thought she looked malnourished and weak, and needed his protection. There was no resistance on the part of Vespa, when he held her hand and insisted she follow, she complied. For many years she lived with the man, performing minor menial tasks for him. He never questioned her appearance or her mannerisms, particularly her silence. He assumed her minimalist behaviour was natural for a fey such as her. Every day he would hold her as the sun set, gently kissing her upon the forehead. One day a wanted murder was seeking refuge from the law; what he found was a humble dwelling on the far reaches of the village. When he entered the house he encountered Vespa and the Man. He immediately threatened to harm her with his dagger if the Man alerted the authorities. The simple Man had already decided to act, his sense of justice and his love compelled him. He sprang forward and grasped the criminal’s hand, desperately prying for the dagger. As the struggle progressed the Man slowly became overwhelmed. All along he shouted for his loves assistance, all along she stood in silence, staring with her listless eyes. The criminal plunged into the Man, his grip weakened, the criminal plunged again, and the Man fell silent. Vespa, was splattered with the warmth of his blood. His last act was to reach out to his love in vain, as she looked onwards with uncaring coldness. The Murderer told her to sit down, and not move a muscle; she complied, silently sitting on a wooden chair as she crossed one leg over the other and set her palms atop her lap. She stared at the new individual the entire night. In the morning both had left, first the murderer, then Vespa. No longer was there a presence in that empty house. To this day, Vespa has almost no recollection of the event.

You have to understand, Wintercat; his best ability is "demon magic"; summoning mooks to command is bread-and-butter for him :P

When I have a little spare time, I'm going to be coming up with a list of kinds and an internal system of my own for limiting how many he can have out at a time :D

Snake

Name:  Kairon
Race:  Extremely Advanced Male Erinyes
Class:  Hexblade
Best Ability:  Archery, swordplay, some spellcasting, but has a special ability to drain powers from others temporarily
Least Ability:  Healing, Seals

Gender:  Male (Chose to be male permanently)
Preference:  Female partners, prefers to dominate most of the time.
Ons:  Large Breasts, shapely hips, spirited
Offs: Yaoi, gore, Vore, Scat, Watersports, char death (I guarantee he won't kill anyone's char in a sexual way)

Appearance:  His base form is just like you see above. He has long red hair, olive skintones and red eyes. STanding about 5'11"-6'; he cuts a cooly intimidating figure and radiates charisma...as well as a very dark potential for cruelty.  Kairon has a perfectly sculpted body; he should having been born literally for illicit sex at first but gained in power and skill over hundreds of years until he reached the pinnacle of his species of devil and learend to use his soul sucking abilities to instead drain powers from others
Background:  Kairon was born one of the original Erinyes, fallen angels and over time grew to more and more prefer the male physique than the female as he enjoye dbeing dominant.  First serving as a commander in another devil lord's military forces until he could kill that leader and usurp his powers through a cunning bit of legality he suckered the other into signing.  Overtime Kairon survived many battles of his own and grew more and more powerful as well as developed a silver tongue and ruthless attitude.  Currently he has another Demoness in his service as well (Less powerful NPC Cohort) as an alliance with the an advanced succubus.. (who's currently pregnant with his spawn... haha)

(good enough?()

On the matter of Snake's character,

We have a succubus in game already, so an Incubus is fairly similar but its not forbidden by any means. Just please be aware he has a counterpart in the dungeon as is, and on that note, I'd also like to point out that while the characters are the exceptional individuals, their power should mainly be among their own race.

I am very much against the idea of having "Queen of Succubi" at his side, somewhere else. That suggests he should also have -control- over the succubi in this dungeon then.

No.

If you take up a character you may have control on some individuals of your species, or like with a recent 'demon magic' user, control over a few -individual- demons/devils that have taken up serving his summons.

When someone else has already 'claimed' a race, you might claim to have a -Succubi- with whom your character has a child somewhere, but the 'Queen of Succubi' is way too powerful. I'd like you to consider that from that direction.

As for the character otherwise, I dislike the concept of being a true 'Devil Lord'. I can see him being powerful individual, but any ability/title that grants you power -over other players- like that is subject to serious scrutiny. It borders on game-breaking.

No ability or title should grant control over other player characters. Power it down. I like the concept, but this is like making a level 20 character for a game suggested for level 10 characters, to speak on D&D terms.

That's my thoughts, but since Vergil1989 is now a co-DM, I ask his opinion on this as well. If he thinks its alright, you have a better chance to get it through, but I would certainly appreciate it if you downplayed the character a little, for reasons visible above already.

I hope to keep god-modding out of this game afterall. Even the Dungeon Master / The Ruler of the Land above are mainly narrative roles, not intended as a power-trip.

He doesn't have a powerful succubi at his control and all. Just friends with her really.  But I can tone it down yes. He's good at many things because Erinyes have innate ability to fight with weapons and archery along with a few magic powers. Hexblades are more marital but they carry the abilty to curse others (more like to hamper martial performance and all. an essence of "unluck")

And of fact: An erinyes is different from a succubi, in fact they're supposed to hate each other (blood war and all. Erinyes ARE fallen angels and thus more lawful than chaotic succubi tend to be.)

Vergil1989

I took a closer look and I have to agree with Winter on this one.  Still, just a little editing and I think he'll be good to go from what you have just put up my friend.  At any rate, we need more heroes so I'm not sure if we'd need anymore monsters at this time but I won't say no to them at any rate lol.  Snake, having a succubi underling is fine or friend or whatever, but queen's pushing it.  Otherwise just tone it down as Winter has asked for since I too would like to avoid god modding as well and we'll be good to go.

I've always played heroes and they get a little boring. This char is REALLY ambitious and it's fun to play him. he really believes he's destined to rule the underworld and works steadily toward it *laugh*

But I can also generate a hero type if you want. I have a couople already prepared I think

Wintercat

You are welcome to play a monster, just saying we hope to get heroes as well so that it wont end up being merely storyteller-run-npcs that intrude to the dungeon, so that the game can keep going with the players alone, not -needing- a storyteller / dm constantly, actually setting a stage so that the monsters & heroes can have their own tales going on.

Of course, I hope to also see some interesting roleplay events take place, but a good game should be one where players are not just waiting for the DMs to post, in my view.

Guys and gals, might I present to you the new Hero domain?  It'll have a similar albeit lighter set up as the dungeon half does in that there's plenty of rooms for a gym, library, and anything else we might need, just like the Dungeon does.  The castle is part of a fortified city is what I'm thinking of, surrounded by a large stone outer guard wall along with the usual castle defenses one would expect.  Murder holes, archer towers, etc etc as well as magical ones to boot that we can set up as we need to.  Anyway, here's the link and I hope you enjoy.  Wintercat, I'd recommend posting all the links on the first page of EVERY thread we have already since I plan to do so myself in due time, that way we have them all either in one place or all of them spread out across the threads.  For example, you'd post every link we have save for this one's own obviously, the OOC would have all of them save for the OOC link itself, etc etc.  Anyway, take it or leave it bud.

Well you can't have an anti-villain without an anti-hero now, can you?  ;D

Awesome! I'll get to work on a write up and post it in the proper thread. :D

Why thank you, Lord Vergil. I was getting a bit nervous about my character  :-[
"She is all the great heroines of the world in one. She is more than an individual. I love her, and I must make her love me. I want to make Romeo jealous. I want the dead lovers of the world to hear our laughter, and grow sad. I want a breath of our passion to stir dust into consciousness, to wake their ashes in pain."

Vaulera

Wintercat

Looking good here,  Vaulera the character looks interesting, just wasn't sure first if she was to be a hero or a 'monster', but I think she will have interesting time in the dungeons either way.

Vergil, I'll think it over about adding the links to the first page of all threads, it should be possible but I'd rather have your links too when I do that, otherwise I'll be doing it all twice. (Not that its impossible to do that, just would like making it all in 1 go.)

Anyway, enjoying the build-up there has been, and right now we  need heroes more than monsters for this, so the monsters wont get 'bored' too easily. Once we have a nice share of both we should be able to take up more monsters again too.
I've taken the Oath of The Drake. Remind me of it if you think I act against it.
A&A

Vergil1989

The only thread I have so far is just the IC link I posted here since I don't think we need another character thread just yet for the heroes alone.  If we make Big Group though then we can think about expanding our reach considerably, but for now I think keeping things small in terms of threads and all is a better idea so we don't lose any of them by accident lol.
