CassandraNova

The title is pretty self explanatory.  I'd be looking for four players or so to send through a mystery that reveals to an unsuspecting group of human and mostly human investigators the existence of the Terrible Truth about the world they thought they knew.

Game to take place in modern day, across the United States and Europe, but beginning in a generic, small, mid-Western college town.

Considering the Cthulu aspect, I'm assuming the game would be at least [NC-E] if not [Ex], yeah?

If so, I'm interested to learn more at least. I love the Cthulu stuff (even though I've only ever read a teeny bit of the original stories) and WoD is pretty fun too.

Mostly human meaning vampires or werewolves? What edition of the WoD rules, 3e VtM types?

By which I mean humans, but I would be willing to consider minor supernatural aspects to the characters, but not full-fledged mages, vampires, or werewolves.  I would be using the New World of Darkness.

As far as the content, I would start it at NC-E, but could go further, if necessary.

So things from Second Sight or Hunter the Vigil or the like?

Are the characters meant to be starting humans with little knowledge or experience of the supernatural?

CassandraNova

The extent of previous involvement, knowledge, or experience of the supernatural is up to the individual players.  I'm not as concerned with that, as I plan to make the primary antagonists of the campaign new entities, so it will be a new experience for all for the group.

Who needs powers, you see the ghoulies then open fire with the biggest gun you can find until ghoulie is gone to hell. lol

I suppose I'm more asking, what sort of concepts are you looking for generally? Are the group meant to know each other previously, to come together during, to start off in completely separate places?

Is this sort of the NWoD earth with your own Lovecraftian elements added, or an entirely different setting?

I am most definitely interested.  I have played C of C for years and HP Lovecraft is, although rather verbose, one of my favorite authors.  When would this start?  How would the posts be handled?  I really would like to play.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

And that has made all the difference.

Call of Cthulhu characters, in my opinion, are based more on the lines of researchers, investigators, and detectives than normal, run of the mill people.  I have to be able at some point to just let the plot hook of an intriguing mystery be sufficient to get them interested in the plot.

Naturally, a group that knows each other, or perhaps even has established roles and working experience, would make more sense logically to begin this sort of adventure with, but the game will sort of start just before the first major plot event, with the story of the group getting together, learning what task they have to accomplish, and traveling to the site of the first story having already taken place.

Don't think of it as a World of Darkness game with Cthulhuesque elements.  Think of it as a Call of Cthulhu game with conflict resolution occuring using the World of Darkness mechanic.

I'd be looking to start towards the end of the month, and posts would be handled with the prompt-response method common to Intertube message board games; I describe the situation, trying to give you as much information as I can so that you can make decisions regarding your actions, you post your character's actions, and once all that is in I inform you of the results, and we proceed from there.

I dont have the NWOD books but I would definatly be interested as I like both systems

When would this be set? Classic early 20th Century CoC, or modern? Which edition of the WoD rules?

I am intrigued, and that is kind of format I like to play with. Please tell us more. :)

To answer the second part first, the new world of darkness rules.  As to the first, to be honest I haven't decided 100%.  I could be persuaded to go either way.

Vella

When you make a firm decision on how character creation will be handled etc. please let me know.  I am looking forward to a little C of C.  I adore the paranoia.. yeah, I know.  Im odd.  *shrugs*  Oh,  and will this be NC or???

Modern Chtulu could be a fun twist...but I'm okay with either.

I'm just waiting to hear more character creation and background details. :)

I cant really do a character work up without knowing which time period.  That makes a difference to me in what and how I play.  I love the 20's stuff, but I can roll with any of it.
