GAME HISTORY

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has taken students since the 9th/10th century when the four founders Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Godric Gryffindor decided to join together to teach magic. They each had their own believes in who should be taught, from the purest to the most intelligent, to the most loyal and honest, to those brave enough to learn it. Many many years have passed since then; Wizarding Wars have been fought … even on Hogwarts grounds.

The school took a while to rebuild and when it did reopen its doors again, the Ministry in all their wisdom chose to listen closely to concerned parents. What if another war occurred, how many more children would suffer? What if another Tom Riddle was in our midst, teaching him and giving him power from the onset. Something had to be done.

The Ministry of Magic under the control of Vincent Proudmane as Minister, changed the education system of students in Britain, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the year 2000. All students at the age of eleven would no longer attend school at Hogwarts but would attend a junior academy within the Ministry, known simply as the Junior Wizarding Academy. They would study the intricacies of magic, the consequences and laws pertaining to it; it's vast history both fantastical and horrendous. The intention was to instill a respect for magic within students at any early age and only when deemed older, wiser and well prepared, would they then sit their OWLs in their sixth and final year.

Unlike at Hogwarts, no familiars were necessary, no cauldrons or other expensive equipment. A uniform, quills, parchments and books were all the students were expected to bring. At the school itself, under the watchful eye of possibly the greatest duelist alive, Filius Flitwick, students were issued with a standard #2 training wand. This wand issued by the Ministry had extreme limited function, were school owned which meant charms were in place so that no student could steal them from the classroom; they could only cast basic spells in a safe and controlled environment.

At the JWA, there are no house distinctions. Students Do Not Board as they do at Hogwarts, it is a day school. They arrive in the morning at 8:30am to begin school at 9:00am. School finishes at 3:30pm. Each year has a class prefect that meets weekly as the student council. The JWA is situated on the first floor of the Ministry of Magic. Students arrive by floo network to the Atrium and then take a lift to the first floor. They return home the same way.

Students did not simply graduate from Hogwarts any more after sitting their final NEWT exams, they stayed on until the age of twenty two years to study further. Only then graduating as if they had attended a muggle University. Students wishing to become professors, aurors, lawyers, ministry workers, alchemists etc all needed to graduate from Hogwarts College of Excelled Learning.

Uniforms were still very much a part of the mode of dress at Hogwarts and the University students were no different, they were allowed to dress in ordinary clothing but had to wear their wizarding robes always with the Hogwarts crest emblazoned. University students stay in the four houses like the younger students but have different curfew hours.

Inspections by the education minister Alicia Flynt were regular but it was still a new system to instill and everyone knew that Hogwarts was not built in a day. It would take time and patience to make the system work and everyones co.operation.

Staff at the school have come and gone, many upset by the changes taken place while others embraced them hoping for a bright new future. The headmistress McGonagall leaves to take care of the younger students at the ministry and with her, a few others from Hogwarts while others retire. Neville Longbottom and Fallon Boru are the professors of Herbology, while Hagrid remains to teach Care of Magical Creatures under careful scrutiny by the ministry. Professor Binns no longer needed at Hogwarts to teach History of Magic, takes to simply monitoring the halls and feeling very put out. With the inclusion of Dragonlore thanks mainly in part to Charles Weasley to the school curriculum, he is replaced by the young and ambitious Varius Tseric who in a brief time elevates to Slytherin Head of House.

Hufflepuff Head of House is now the cantankerous but fun loving ex professional quidditch player Arcturus Silver, also being the Charms professor and as of after spring break in 2013 takes over as quidditch match referee. Ravenclaw Head of House is Professor Daniel Pruddtap, who is also the Divination professor. The Gryffindor Head of House and Deputy Headmistress is Talyn Tseric, who teaches potions to the University students and flying. Transfiguration is taught by the talented Professor Elodie Salt, Ancient Runes by Professor Bradley Hudson and Astronomy by Professor Farting Clank.

Another year and the younger students have graduated from the Junior Wizarding Academy, hoping to receive their letters from Hogwarts. The summer looms ahead of them and they will need to get their school supplies, go to Ollivanders for their wand, dream about making the quidditch team and most of all … which House they will be sorted into.

Those students who have been in attendance at Hogwarts move up a year and prepare for more grueling work ahead of them but also are eager to return for more quidditch, for more dueling tournaments; for the Halloween and Yule feasts, for the Valentines Ball and for their houses glory. Who will be prefect, who will be Head boy or girl?

It is the last year for some of the University students, they must graduate in the hopes that all they have done is enough to secure for them that perfect job. Quidditch scouts attend the games, Ministry officials attend open days at Hogwarts to see how well the University students are doing to prepare for the outside world. Will they all leave or will one or two stay on to teach?

It looks like another promising year ahead … will you be part of Hogwarts – A Future?

Hogwarts; A Future has been running now for over a year and a half and is the biggest group game on Elliquiy.
As a result of this our recruitment for the new school year 2013 has changed to make it easier to transition into such a large and established, often times chaotic game.
Having read the History above, you will be aware of the different schooling factions within Ireland and the United Kingdom. They are ... The Junior Wizarding Academy, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Hogwarts College of Excelled Learning.

In order for our players to get the complete feel for the Hogwarts experience ... receiving their letters, buying their supplies - including wands and familiars in Diagon Alley, boarding the Hogwarts train at Platform 9 3/4 and sorting! We prefer all our NEW PLAYERS to begin as a senior JWA students. In game at the moment it is February and we thought it the perfect opportunity to prepare new upcoming students from the JWA for their graduation and subsequent attendance of Hogwarts. Many of our established players are very excited about this because they remember the fun and chaos when they first joined.

Only Senior students will ever get rp'd at the JWA and these will range in age group from 16 - 17

We have a very extensive Hogwarts; A Future wiki that is currently undergoing a revamp but on it is the Junior Wizarding Academy

The JWA will be hosted on the non-adult forum. At the moment we have our chatterbox there and our OCGC.
The first threads will get posted up when it is March in game and Hogwarts and the JWA will run parallel to one another. Any news in the Daily Prophet, The Quibbler etc will be known in both areas.

  • This is not our universe it is that created by JK Rowling and globally recognised as Potter Verse. We have altered it slightly for the benefit of our game but otherwise we will try to keep as much to canon as we possibly can.
  • This Game is not a sexual based game and any one entering into the game with this in mind is warned now. As
  • A tagging system will also be used when posting your character, we have found it effective in a large game and will continue to use it.
  • We would like any one interested in this game to familiarise themselves with The Oath of Drake if you already have read it, we recommend rereading it. For some it has been a while and we want every one to be on a similar wave length when entering into this game.
  • Our full list of game rules can be found --> HERE
  • We adhere to most, if not all, physical and legal laws of the Harry Potter universe. This means that electronic devices do not function in Hogwarts or in the JWA and that underage witches/wizards may not use magic outside of Hogwarts or the JWA. (underage in the HP universe is below 17)
  • Your character's knowledge of Magic and the Magical world should remain connected to their age and skill level, along with their history. Even adult characters should not know all and to make such a character is called "powermoding" or "passive godmoding". Unless you're perfect, your character shouldn't be.
  • All characters must come from England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland. There is a magic school in America (Salem), one in Eastern Europe (Durmstrang), one in Western Europe Mainland (Beauxbatons) and I’m fairly sure we can take it that there would be schools in Russia, Australia, Asia and South America too. We will take the odd transfer student but a thorough biography must be done to establish a reason for the transfer to Hogwarts. Pre-approval required from GMs.
  • Special Items: All special items (Invisibility cloaks, pensive, deluminators etc )are obviously not common and therefore the owning of such items must be approved by a GM.
  • No Familiars will be permitted at the JWA.
  • There are no Vampires, Trolls, or other dangerous magical creatures (unless RP'ed by the GM’s) at this school or on the Grounds. Please don't RP as if there were. If there is a demanding reason for a dangerous creature, please personal message a GM with the story concept and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • If your character is a pure-blood both of their parents are magical, and all of their grandparents and so on. It means a 'muggle' was never married and that all ancestors have been magical. That being said, it is very obvious that this must be quite impossible. J.K Rowling has stated that 'true' pure-bloods do not exist in the magical world, and that any family that claims to be entirely 'pure' has simply erased muggles and squibs from their family trees. With this knowledge in mind we have set our definition of a 'Pureblood' to be that all great-grandparents and any direct descendants them were all magical. This, of course, also means that your character can have two magical parents and still not be a 'pure-blood'.  If you wish your character to be a pureblood, please pm the GM's.
  • The following are the only special races in this game, that wizard folk can also be. Again a good character concept is required before approval will be given otherwise we’ll have ten werewolves and twenty part-veelas running around.

    • Part-giants (Hagrid)
    • Part-Veelas (Fleur Delacour)
    • Part-goblin (Professor Flitwick)
    • Werewolves (Remus Lupin)

for our game however we do not allow for Half-veela's or half goblins or half giants but rather 1/8th. This ensures that no one's character is powerplayed or godmoded in any way due to the true abilities as set out by JK Rowling for these beings.

  • With regards veela's it means  - they are inherently beautiful but cannot enthrall anyone, turn heads because of how beautiful they are yes but that is about it.
  • with regards goblins it means -  they are not quite as short as their full counter parts and do not have the long spindly fingers. They are clever but do not hold any knowledge of full goblin magic. spells and potions can essentially effect them as the goblin blood is very diluted.
  • with regards giants it means -  they are not quite as tall as their full or half counter parts, nor do they have the massive girth. Spells and potions can essentially effect them because  their giant blood as been so diluted by human blood.

  • We use celebrities like models, singers, actors to represent our character visuals, we have a list of those already in use HERE -  when sending your CS to the GM's please use the following code to reserve a visual. Please use capitals where they are stressed. Thank you.

CELEBRITY NAME plays  NPC reserved for *insert your name

  • The following is a basic character sheet. Once you have pm'd your sheet to BOTH GM's, we will go through it and give any assistance we feel is necessary, whether it is expanding a bit more on your characters family or their personality or their history in general. This assistance is never to be seen as criticism but rather constructive advice on how to flesh your character out a little more. At the end of the JWA wiki are approved JWA characters - this is where all approved sheets will get posted to and you the player will be alerted when your character has been approved.

We will stress this ... DO NOT PESTER THE GM's WITH REGARD APPROVAL TIME. IT COULD  TAKE A FEW DAYS OR LONGER. The GM's are on different time zones and have lives outside of Elliquiy and run this extremely big game and must continue to do so while this recruitment is ongoing and the JWA is being established. We expect patience and respect on behalf of all prospective players.

Kendra

1.) Will there be classes posted like at Hogwarts?

No, at least not at first. We will gauge the interest and if it is not time consuming then we will consider them.

2.) Will there be points to win as at Hogwarts?

No, Hogwarts uses a points board to keep a semblance of competitive rivalry between the houses
in the hopes that this award system will encourage students to study harder.

3.) If my character has a younger brother or sister, younger than the sixth form
will I be able to rp them even as a posed npc at the JWA?

No, only 6th Form students will be played and possibly the professors. Under NO circumstances
will any younger students be rp'd.

4.) Will our JWA characters be allowed to post in the HAF area at all?

The JWA characters will be allowed to post in the Hogwarts; A Future forum when they have graduated
from school and during the school holidays. They can not POST at Hogwarts until their first year begins.

5.) Will we have a relationship thread / soliciting rp thread etc as we do in HAF?

We will try to do our best by creating threads we think will be necessary for the Sixth form students.
Character biographies will go directly to the wiki this time after approval and will be linked to the JWA threads.

6.) Is the JWA going to be a big forum area like HAF?

The JWA was supposed to be essentially a spring board to assist new players in settling into such a huge game.
However, we know that our current players are almost fanatical with this universe and we foresee that
the sixth formers at the JWA will become a busy place but even so, only time will tell if it becomes a big forum in
the non-adult area. We don't want it to be a massive as HAF, because that in itself will defeat the purpose of
creating it.

7.) Will the students have familiars like they do at Hogwarts?

No, students get their familiars during the summer before they attend Hogwarts. The JWA is situated on the
first floor of the ministry, therefore an influx of animals such as toads, rats, cats and owls would cause all
manner of chaos. The school is a day school, so pets can stay at home.

8.) Will there be areas at the JWA like Hogwarts that are forbidden?

Yes, every other floor of the ministry is OFF LIMITS! This is NOT negotiable. A floor plan will be done up
to assist the students. Lunch breaks can be taken either in the school cafeteria or in Daigon Alley.
Permission to eat outside of school grounds must be given to the headmistress from parents or guardians.

9.) Will the time frame be the same as at Hogwarts?

Yes, both schools will be running on the same clock. So that when we move forward into a new month in
one school, the other does the same. Both will be running in tandem with one another. It is merely a different
school not a different game.

10.) Will there be a need for the tagging system there?

Yes, we have found that the tagging system is a very effective method in keeping track of our characters.
Though the JWA will not be as big an area as HAF, there will still be quite a number of students posting.
This is why all the JWA students must make sure to have their avatars with school logo present.

11.) How will students get to the school?
Unlike Hogwarts, the JWA is a day school and students arrive in the morning at 8:30am to begin school at
9:00am. School finishes at 3:30pm. All students including the muggleborn will use the floo network. To get
muggleborns through the network initially, a 'transporter' would show up at the students house at a
certain time every morning (much like the bus drivers on the school routes) and collect the student to bring
to the ministry. All students will be trusted to get themselves to the school by the time they are 15 years
old. Students arrive in the Atrium which is on the 9th floor of the ministry and they must take the lift to the
1st floor.

12.) As the Ministry is in London, will the students be allowed to wander around on their break?
No. There are cafeteria area's marked out in the map but students can take the floo network in their
senior year and go to Diagon Alley for their lunch break, providing of course they have permission from
their parents to do so.

13.) Will there be a class time table, so we can establish where our characters have been or are
heading to?

Yes, there will be. This will get posted with the classroom thread.

An in depth potterverse game, sounds like a party to me.  Starting off with a new educational system that does its best to prevent another Moldevort, that is quite clever and original.  I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Hi! More characters you say
-rubs hands together and cackled with glee!-

For anyone thinking of joining, I would like to testify to how amazing HaF is and by relation I know JWA will also be fantastic!
I can't wait to start!

You can imagine how much I love it by the amount that I post for all of my characters in HaF. I am raring to go for this new branch of the amazing game our dedicated GMs have put together for us all.

Come out and see what it's all about. I know you will love it as much as I do
:)

Character for  Artorias Theophilius Mengsk will be rolling into your inbox today for approval.

I have another idea as well and I'd love to make two lads but I don't think I'll have the bandwidth for it.

Ty

Having been nudged this way, I am interested in this game. While I poke the wiki and ponder ideas for a male student, I thought I should Hi here and such, as well as ask if anyone had any hooks they cared to offer.

Zealously Jaded

This is an amazing game, I'm terrible at group games but I found this one incredibly welcoming and fun to write. Everyone in HaF are amazing writers and I can't wait to meet more people.

Untamed Skies

I remember it seemed like a lot of information being thrown at me when I first joined.

But everyone in HAF are quick to get you the answers to any questions you have, find a character to interact with, or even just chat. So once you've been assimilated into the fold what's left is a great RP with a couple great GMs and a army of players looking to create a fun experience and keep it that way.

Kokaine

Don't be shy! There's plenty of RP to go around!
And if you are a bit on the shy side like some of us, you'll still find it really easy slip right on in. Everyone is welcoming and brings a lot to the table to make things fun and interesting ^^

Some of us are a bit addicted *cough* >.>

What's the Boggart entry in the character sheet for? Apologies if it is a setting term. I read the books a while back now, so details slip.

Boggart means fear. So what is your character's ultimate fear. :)

Karma Sinclair

I haven't fully committed to this idea yet but I'm interested at the moment. It will depend on what kind of character I can come up with. If he's a believable character that I can enjoy playing then I'll join.

Good luck with the creation!  I hope you find something great and join

what kind of hooks are you referring to?
if you mean as in the way of game plottage for your character - then wait for approval when you're in the ooc area and plot away to your hearts content.
Trust me, you'll be inundated soon enough ;)

if you mean a character hook - there are tons to choose from ... if you want to go down the 'foster kid' route we have a npc family set up The Craven's.
If you need help just pm or shout away ;)

Tentative interest is as good as any ;)
Best of luck with a character concept.

Thanks Haffles and JWAs for the wonderful praise and excitement lol
to be honest I think the GM's are just as hyper about this as the rest of you ;)

Niferbelle

While you're working on your sheets there are lots of us around who are happy to answer questions or to have things bounced off us. Ideas, I mean, you know, not like thing things. That would be be bad.

Ty

A character hook, is what I meant. Relations, friends, rivals. Just something to connect him to the world, and make the creation process less of a cold start. We will all (barring exceptions for awesome ideas) have been at the school for the last few years, am I right?

Loves

All the students would have started JWA at age 11 I believe.

Yes, they would have been at the school for a few years. One thing you can do to make it less of a cold start is perhaps say if he likes sports or not. This paves the way for after approval to create relationships with those who also have characters who like sports. If he is a love of the arts then he would like or have been in drama club for some time, which means after approval he can find friends within that area.

The character sheet is in a sense bare bones then afterwards you will be able to add flesh...and other goodies to make it more whole. Not sure if that makes sense.
