I'm new and really don't know much about how to use the place, and find it hard to get involved, can you help?

  Another way is to just advertise under players wanted that you'd like to play a one-on-one game with someone. Describe what kind of character you'd like to play and maybe what kind of situation you'd like that character to getinvolved in and someone here, I'm sure, will be glad to play with you and can do the intitial setup stuff to get you on your way.
