Would an X-men SL/Game/RP be asking for too much?

I see I lot of D&D and have seen some Power Rangers, which is a big suprise to me. I don't know, as I haven't took time out to check, how many games from T.V. shows and Tabletops there are here. However suddenly I seem to be craving a game based of ethier one of the X-men cartoons, comics (would be rare for me), or even games (To my knowledge there are only two X-men RPGs and I own them both.) I know this asking for a lot, and I highly doubt I will find any one, but it never hurts to ask I guess. I have a mess of odd and common character pairings I want to experiment with and if you need any information of the characters (at least in the comics) I will link the Marvel directory. http://www.marveldirectory.com/directory.htm one can find information on any character but looking up the first letter of their code man in the individuals section.

Rayve13

I'm all over comic characters. I'm more of a DC buff right now, but I know my way around the Marvel universe as well, and I love superhero/villain (any mix) pairings/groupings. Count me as highly interested.

LordAnubis

X-men isn't too much to ask.  I'm more than willing to play in an x-men game.

Natalie C. Barney

If the kinky Monkeygirl is in the captivating NatalieBarney is.

I even have a character idea TENTACLE WOMAN sexier than Doctor Octopus and a heroine. Her mutant power will be Bi-gender Pheromones (basically gives off a sexy sent that stimulates men and women to pleasant effect) and Computer Linking (psionics~ which is used on her tentacles). The tentacles will be mechanical just like Doctor Octopus armored, antimagnetic and made out of superalloy. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

Also anyone other than me really waiting for the thrid X-Men Movie? It look awesome.

Looks like she's running away from Juggernaut in the third movie.  Also, I might like to play in this game...are original characters allowed?  I have a couple that would be interesting so long as there's a powerful villain of somesort.

LordAnubis

I can admit I thought Kitty pryde was hot, and probably still do. lol.

Good question about original characters, cause if there is, I am slightly conflicted about finding a standard character, or bring in my character whose armor I use for my image.. decision decisions.

Mindhazingsquid

Kitty is alright, I personally had a crush on Rahne from New Mutants.
I would be game for a Marvel or Marvel based game.  The X-men, in my oppinion, might be a bit limiting.  I mean does anyone actually like Cyclops?

LordAnubis

If by like you mean, would like to see him get hit by a car... yes.  If you mean like as in as a character.. well.. lol.

LadyFox

Count me in.  Either OC or canon.  I have this thing for Songbird.... not an X-chick, but she's fun... creating solid sound objects with ehr voice?  ooooooooh, the possibilities... not to mention the hypnotic voice....
She is my broken doll
She lost all her pieces in a big fall
She can't discover

Mindhazingsquid

The only excuse I can give Cyclops is that he does have brain damage (the reason he can't turn off his power) from a bad landing falling out of a plane.  Even so, that's no reason he should miss something he only has to look at.

Rayve13

So much hate for Cyc...I feel bad for the guy, I really do. He's not my favorite character, but I can't say that I hate him. Always felt he was the character the average reader was supposed to identify with (and Kitty on the women's side). My hatred is reserved for Wolverine, mainly because I hate all the fanboy/girl obsession over him and the tendency Marvel has to make him way overpowered.

Anyway, I can do X-Men or Marvel or Marvel/DC combined world easily, with many, many characters playable.

X-Men: Forge, Bishop, Psylocke (if a lady was needed, though that doesn't seem likely)
General Marvel: Ironman, Mach 5, the Goblyn Queen (Madeyline Pryor, can provide story & pic if needed), several others as needed.

I'll deal with DC if it's open.

Natalie C. Barney

One of my favorite character in Marvel is Doctor Strange you have to love the flowery speech. My other one I really like is Mockingbird lots of training, cool staves and lots of heart. Generally I like the lower powered ones they seem to have more realistic fights and all like Spiderman.

Did anyone see the Fantastic 4 movie I think that was very nice even though Doctor Doom was NOT a mutant in the comics.

Agreed on Dr. Strange, he's an old favorite of mine, though I like DC's Dr. Fate almost as much. And I tend to favor training/armor type heros over mutants and increadibly powerful people. The Black Knight was an old favorite I forgot earlier on my earlier list, and to a lesser degree Hawkeye. DC's Arsenal is way up there as well.

NEver saw the FF movie. Not my favorite Marvel series, and Jessica Alba (while I love her to death), does not look like Sue Storm at all.

LOL, Slim is bossier than man in everything I have played and read. I would second that, but...I'd feel I bit evil.

I wouldn't care if DC and other Marvel characters were involved ethier, as long as it doesn't go all Marvel vs. Capcom on me. That is to say, I never got the point of that game. I don't think it's right to make a fighting game without a point, a story you know....let me stop before I give a speech.

Rayve13

Stop and know that you are understood. At least there's a precident for DC/Marvel corssover (various knockoffs of one anotehr's characters and the short lived Amalgam run). Once things become more defined, since you seem to have a pretty impressive response number here, I'll settle on someone/something.

Damn... with the mention of a Marvel/DC crossover, my brain is torn in three... well, at least three... torn between Batman (I mean c'mon, the guy's got balls of brass, toys or not), Wolverine ('cause he's Canadian, yo), or one of my own concoctions... of which I have a half dozen or so...

Plenty of other Canadians than Wolvie. Sasquatch (can turn into a sasquatch, not one all the time), Vindicator, Puck, Shaman. Check out some Alpha Flight sometime (they need someone to read it!) ;D

Natalie C. Barney

So many possibilities. Why not open it up further why not include The Shadow, The Green Hornet, Troma Heroes and Villians and those of other sources?

Example Tarzan, The Shadow, Rocketman, Sky Captain (updated to the current age maybe is a souped up Raptor) and other sorts of Pulpish Heroes. Sherlock Holmes might also be a nice touch backed by modern technology. Also the League of Extraordinary Gentleman sort of theme a vampire with a good heart or someone might be fun.

I don't think a DC/Marvel crossover is a good idea, but that's up to the GM I suppose.  Also, I don't think it'd be wise to play Wolverine, Batman, or even Superman, all of us are going to have a different take on how those characters should be played and none of us are going to agree on that way.  It'll just cause a lot of friction where there shouldn't be any.

I do think that original characters should be encouraged at the very least, but then again, I'm not the GM.  Anyway just giving my two cents, I like playing a powerful female character, so long as there is someone to actually fight against as her equal.

monkeygirl

I like the idea of being able to play original characters as well - just think it would be more fun to create someone new - I, myself, have an idea in mind for a super power - sort of a static electricity that becomes more powerful the more my heroine becomes sexually charged  :)

Rayve - I know there are plenty of Canadian heroes, eh... but Wolverine's the baddest of the bad, and the deepest of all of the X-Men, plus he gets all the hotties...

Natalie - Straying into the realm of pulp and other fiction muddies the waters quite a bit, perhaps too much to make some kind of coherant plot... which of course is the problem with a DC/Marvel crossover as well, so Batman'd be out for me...

Darwishi - Crossover's can be a sticky issue, aye, but if canon characters are going to be allowed, there shouldn't be a restriction to who can be played, at least in my mind's eye. I've other possibilities, though... Iceman's always been a favorite... or hell, if I'm gonna get kinky, Multiple Man's a riot... and Nightcrawler, well, yeah...

...'course I could just pull out an original... Thom Payne, or Flagwaver maybe...

Monkey - Mmm, power charged by arrousal... hate to see her lover's hair after a shattering orgasm...

Rayve13

Overall, I'm content to leave my DC heros behind in the interest of keeping things easy to manage. Same could be said for indy and originals, if we're looking to make things easy.

In the end, I leave it all in Mistiq's hands, so long as I get to play!

I think if this is going to work we need limits on power level and I suggest lower end. Think about it if Superman and lets say Cloak is in the same group it would be out of wack fast? Maybe limit players to three powers and maybe six skills just to keep things balanced. We could allow a weakeness to add another power. But I think we have to have some sort of power level. And one should be allowed to trade off powers for added skills maybe three extra per power not taken. Powers could be fairly broad like GADGETS and they could just have gadgets and devices. Anything big like a major vehicle might take a power slot like BATMOBILE. But we should have some guidelines.

That's a good idea, it makes sense. Seem to me like that would keep things from getting confusing and annoying as I have seen some people, never here, have twelve and twenty-odd (meaning many that's just how I talk. Trying to avoiding saying fifty-eleven, sounding...nevermind...might rant...) skills like immunities to elements and other things, it bugs me big time. Since though I doubt anyone here would even do that as a joke, I don't see what that wouldn't work out.

People have some fun ideas for their own creations, I think most people's brain-children would work better than an all cannon cast. It's really up to you guys, I don't plan on planning this all by my lonesome. If I did, it would be crappy to say the least.

Rayve13

Sounds good to me. Are we looking for a stated system, or just a freeform with some general guidelines?

LordAnubis

I'm always a systems fan, mostly because I like building a character up, but I haven't played in a good hero system yet, I'd say freeform would be a good idea.

*hands out heart attack medicine for those that know me best, they'll understand*

Natalie C. Barney

I didn't says sytem just keep the number of powers modest and some skills for role-playing. The way I see it my way characters would have some powers and some skills, can be broader and we could encourage linked powers-skills amybe adding one to powers IF they fit a type of hero. Example~

BIC the Living Lighter
Powers
1. Alternate Form (can be a normal human or all fire, costume happens to be immune)
2. Flaming Body (sheath body in fire)
3. Control Fire
4. Shoot Flames
5. Fly (while in flaming body form)

Skills
1. Marksman with Flame
2. Sculpt Flames
3. Evasive Flight (power only)
4. Barnstorming (power only)
5. High School Education (voc-tec, mechanics)
6. Martial Arts (Tae-Kwon-Do)

Weakness~ Vulnerable to Water

So the character might get a free extra power if its all tied to flames. Or could be seperate powers. Nice thing is this would work to encourage sensible themed characters if wanted. All just to keep some sort of game balance.

Actually, I think limits are a bad idea...if you're going with a Marvel theme anyway.  They have characters as powerful as Thor and as "weak" as Kitty Pryde.  If you limit the power then it's not a marvel game.  If you want to talk powers and such, look at Batman and Superman, or read a few of the comics that have them teaming up.  It's an awesome read for one, but for another there are some things Batman can do that Superman cannot, I think a power limit on the hub just limits creativity.

Natalie C. Barney

Yes but if Marvel can a Silver Surfer play with The Mockingbird? They are completely different power levels.

Unless you have different groups and threads for the different figures.

It's my oppinion that Marvel heroes are overall weaker than DC.  Stan Lee did a good job making his heroes "human" for the most part.  While I haven't read DC for a long time, I seem to remember them being rediculously powerful (The Speedforce comes to mind).  I'm not against DC by any means.  It's just that there has to be some kind of middle ground in which they have to meet.

Also for a crossover I have one where Peter Parker finally get's fed up with 3J's abuse and leaves for... Metropolis and joins the Daily Planet.  At the same time Clark Kent decides he needs a change of scenery and transfers over to the Daily Planet in New York.  This is a 70's crossover not part of the amalgum series.  There's lots of ways DC and Marvel characters can meet.  Heck maybe The Beyonder decides to have another Secret wars.

I prefer systemless but I'm game for whatever.

LordAnubis

Natalie has a point, The Juggernaut was always faced up against people who either had comprobably strength, ot had psychic powers.  The weaknesses are only mitagating when they were applicatable.  Juggernaut vs the Fantasitic four would crush the family unless Reed had some premptive warning to get some technological device to send him to another dimension.

Marvel had wide ranging power levels, but they were then faced with comprobably villians,  if we just open th eflood gates, you could end up with the lizard fighting against the hulk.  Lizard is far outclassed in strength that even if it was faster, it wouldn't be able to make up for it.

Cross over can work, but there is always the questions "where was superman when Galactus came?"  Personally I ask where the Avengers and X-men were too, but that's beside the point.  If we're going to do crossovers between the worlds, I'd almost advise dumping them into a neutral world, where they don't have to explain why they weren't fighting against some villian they should have been involved in fighting.

Marvel was definatly more reallistic in that they were human's with flaws and at times a very ungrateful public.  DC was the bastion of truth justice and good banding together against evil.  If you are going to do cross overs, at least one group has to end up in the other world.  It'd hard to have the Justice league with all their following in the same world as the absolutely hatred for mutants you run into with X-men.  Different worlds.

Darwishi

Actually, the DC world is a lot more human than a lot of people realize.  Especially if you take in the Batman series or any of the parts that shoot off from that.  Nightwing, Robin, Hungtress, Batgirl, Catwoman...all normal everyday people, as well as Green Arrow.  Black Canary had powers, the power of voice to blow down walls, but in the end it came down to her martial arts for how good of a heroine she is.  The power levels are actually about even in both universes,  I'd wager that Marvel is the more powerful of the two but that's probably because I don't read much marvel. =OP

Point being okay, yes there should be some kind of power cap, so you don't have a person that blinks and can destroy a planet.  BUT, it shouldn't limit players to creating only people slightly stronger than humans.  Then you wouldn't have hardly anyone from the Marvel directory to play.  Spiderman is class 40, for example, meaning he can lift 40 tons...not exactly your everyday human.

I basically think if you're going to have this super powered human, you'd better make them with a superpowered weakness.  I like Superman in this sense, because while he seems invulnerable (at least in the animated version) he's susceptible to getting taken out by vast amounts of electricity, kryptonite, and lets not forget his biggest rival is Lex Luthor...and ordinary man. ^^

Natalie C. Barney

Well Superman had a few weaknesses including magic and psionic powers- did everyone forget one little villian that could onely leave if he was forced to say his name? And the Fantastic 4 DID defeat Galactus and his Heralds so it is possible a team can beat a big baddie with luck and skill. (at least in the comics)

Yeah you had to say his name backwards, but the point was he has several weaknesses that some don't think of all the time.  Weaker classes take out the stronger ones all the time...but by the same token a stronger class can team up with a weaker class and come out stronger in the end.  Which is why I think too big of a limit on powers is a little crazy.

I have a character that is basically a girl version of Superman (I'd say Supergirl, but Supergirl always comes off way weaker than Superman in the comics), that I wouldn't mind playing in this game if it's to come to fruition but that's why I was asking about a powerful villain, someone on the same level in some way, shape or form.  Wouldn't mind having a Lex Luthor type to oppose her, even if it were a woman. ^^

I can't spell it, but it was pronounce Mr. Mix-yes-spit-lick.

I'm all for, if nothing else, a gentlepersons agreement to avoid the real heavy hitters. It provides an impetus to team up and mingle anyway. Why join a team when you can defeat enemies alone? And most of the low to mid supers could be defeated by skilled humans, so they wouldn't be horribly unbalancing.

As far as the "Why was 'X person or group' not fighting a particular threat, I know DC usually handles it with big magic items or some such. For example, The Specter and Dr. Fate, powerful mystic types who could do increadibly destructive things, didn't fight the Nazi's in WW2 because Hitler had the Spear of Destiny, which he could use to control them within some ungodly radius.

Darwishi

I know Superman can land a 747 jet, which is around 400 tons...but I like the really heavy hitters and as I've described before, they usually have perfectly normal counter parts.  I consider that a heavy hitter, but he also has a lot of weaknesses that could be taken advantage of.  Of course, I only bring this up cause I want to play a heavy hitter with strengths and weaknesses very similar to superman's. ^^  But in the end it Mistiq's game and they can put a limit on it if they like to whatever degree...

Rayve13

Out of curiosity, what do you think of Superboy from the Teen Titans? He can do most of the same things with his tactile telekinesis, but it was a different setup, one that could be exploited (if he was caught unaware or something, he could be hurt).

Darwishi

Actually, I haven't read too much of Superboy or the Teen Titans...so I'm not real familiar with it.  Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Birds of Prey I read a lot of so I can speak more with them. ^^

I am trying to think of a way that those involved could all logically be in/come to the same area.

Xerial

It might be quite a bit easier to keep the game to the originally proposed X-Men, but allow custom characters. Someone wants to play Batman? They can craft a similar character, and work them into the X-Men continuity... 'course that does eliminate some possibilites, but it keeps things overall easier to manage...

...and I wanna be Multiple Man, to show any gal she can be Multiple Woman too...  :P

As right as you are, at the moment I feel like drawing so I might keep it open. I will draw the places where the game could be set and then think of something. I don't think I will play this one though. It's kinda like when you spend time clean buckets of chitterlings only to not eat them.

*Chuckle* My bad, I forget not everybody will now what I am taking about when I mention food. Chitterlings are pig entrails, my family(ies) are from Arkansas, Texas, and Mississippi respectfully, we eat alot of things some people may consider odd or gross. E.G.: Rabbit, Duck, Goose, Goat, Pig Snoot, Pig Feet, Pig Ears, Pig Tails, Opposum, Racoon, that sorta thing, Chitterlings stick to high heaven when bought, not raised and are hours of work to clean. I have a lot of relatives who will clean them, and not eat them because of all the work they put into cleaning them. I was just using that to say after putting a lot of work into something like this, the brain will be to exhausted to play.

Oh and of the list made of the top of my head, I have eaten everything save Pig snoot and ears, opposum, and racoon. I don't eat or clean chitterlings because the smell makes me gag.

Considering the number of original characters people are planning, has anyone considered a more New Mutants kind of arraingment (i.e. a training team)? It would explain the changeover from the regulars, and we could still include a regular or two to show that it's still an X team.

Mindhazingsquid

Or Emma Frost, since she's apparenetly taken over for Charles in the current run. Or even Just a veteran like Cyc, Forge, or Storm, someone with leadership experience.

tcost

I've played the professor before.  The only trouble with playing Charles is that he rarely gets any action.  He's had his legs fixed on and off, so he need not be incapable, but the gap in terms of age and experience is a big one, and ladies like Storm and Jean usually have other partners -- and the younger ones are just too young for him.

Emma Frost, on the other hand, has been an explicit sex object from the word go.  She might do better than the Professor.
I prefer justice to irony.

Rayve13

#63
Indeed, just look at her 'uniform'.  :P

And I could run Emma if need be, though I'd probably also want to run a newer type as well. If I'm doing both, Emma will be something of a background figure, only occassionally getting 'involved with the students' in a direct way.

Darwishi

tcost

Not too much in the background, I hope!  For one thing, I'd enjoy having a scene with her -- even as Charles.  What characters need filling, at this point, the most?
I prefer justice to irony.

LordAnubis

I'd like Emma in charge, if only because Charles is.. well charles.  He is the old guy in the wheel chair, hard at least for me to see him sneaking after one of his teeny bopper students.  Could see Emma doing that easy, just hard to see it with Xavier.

Though, he could be used as the check.  Keep the students from just having sex on the kitchen counter during breakfast, trying not to get caught in the act, since he says he doesn't run around reading minds it'd be possible to avoid getting caught when he wasn't specficly looking in on you.  Unless he rolls in on you.

Rayve13

Seems the consensus is Emma as the team supervisor, which works just fine for me. Charles will be fine as a total backgrounder, kind of the boogyman for our rather promiscuous team. I figure (and plan to run) Emma as something of a "don't get caught' sort, since she's always wanted her students to be sneaky types ever since she ran the Hellions.

Does anyone else think we need a created thread for this, or should one of us just post it somewhere? I'm thinking created, since we'll want individual rooms, a Danger Room, a Cerebra chamber, and a few other scene locations.

Mindhazingsquid

A hangar maybe for the X-Jet.  A living room, kitchen, the grounds. Since it's a mansion there are a lot of places.

tcost

A created thread, for sure.  If this is done well, it will be a complex and wide-ranging game.

My problem is that while I know the early X-Men like the back of my hand, I haven't been reading them since the early nineties.  I'm not even sure which characters are still alive, who's gone bad, and so forth.
I prefer justice to irony.

I don't think it really matters if we're creating a new team full of new and original (for the most part) members.  We also need a New York City thread, for those of us who aren't playing X-men...at first anyway.

Natalie C. Barney

Doesn't matter with all the parellel Earths in the Marvel Universe you can have it anyway you want.  ;D

I'm pretty current on them, and Wiki has a decent listing here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_X-Men

Most of those have articles attached that should give current affiliations. If not, I'm content to wing it pretty well, considering people change sides/return unexpectedly frequently when a new grouping is being formed.

Rayve13

Okay, anyone have any opposition to me going ahead and starting the thread for this?

Darwishi

By thread, you mean game, right?  Like multiple threads?

Rayve13

Yeah, seems like we'll need a multi-thread setup.

Darwishi

In which case, yeah go ahead and start it.  Need a thread for New York City itself, though who should I send the my character application to? You gonna be the GM or Mistiq? Or did they give up on the X-men thing and you're taking over? Color me confused. ^^

But you'd only be able to help us fight crime like three days a month! (loved that movie)

Sorry about the delay, I took a little down time. I'll forward on to a goddess soon.

Okay, I made the trhead request for NC: Exotic Heavy, and was asked to make sure we actually needed something that heavy, since there are several games in there. I requested for that because i wasn't sure what people were looking for here, and with mutants things like tentacle rape are a possibility. However, I will go on record saying I'd prefer something in the midtones, if everyone else is fine with that. Let me know what you think is needed, and I'll resubmit the request.

And, for those who are looking for tentacle rape and such, I was told that if that's what is needed, that's what we'll get. The Goddesses just want to make sure we're in the right place ;D

And The Bowler was my favorite. Her father's skull...inside a bowling ball? Genius!

Rayve13

Anyone have a placement preference? I'm gonig to make the thread request tommorow for midtones if I don't here back.

Darwishi

What's the difference between Midtones and Heavy?  Is it the difference between tentacle molested and tentacle raped, or what? ^^

LordAnubis

Per curiousity, is there going to be an intended story at all?  Or is it going to be a setting for people to do there thing in?

Darwishi

I was kinda wondering that myself.  Is there an overall plot or did you just want it to be players coming together and making up their own plots? ^^

Rayve13

This is a plot idea sent to me, and it seems interesting enough:

For the X-Men game, I was thinking perhaps someone has set the X-Men up... the story would go that a team had just returned from the scene of a small anti-mutant riot, and from saving a few mutants who had been caught up in it (a possible way to introduce some of the non-canon characters)... what they don't know is that the riot was intcited to draw them there, by either a shadowy government group, the Friends of Humanity, or some similar group. While they were on the scene, a group of "policemen" showed up and launched what looked like tear gas into the midst of the riot... what it really was, though, was the airborn form of a tailored virus, one meant to infect only mutants.

The viral gas at first would have a similar effect to tear gas (which sucks, trust me), it would cause burning on exposed skin, and irritation of the eyes/mouth, etc... that's the cover... afterwards it'll wear off, just like tear gas will, but it stays within them, now in its second stage of development. In this stage the virus is no longer airborn, instead it becomes transmitted through exchange of bodily fluids (a genetically tailored STD)... the only effect it has in this stage is to arrouse the host, at first leaving them flush, and eventually insatiably horny... until they have sex (and pass the virus on to the next victim), it will continue to drive them wild... the problem is that it doesn't stop after the first time, instead it goes dormant for a period of a day, maybe two, and then it starts again, and over time it comes back more frequently.

This would eventually leave the adult population of the mansion insanely horny. An inhibitor may be discovered, but in order to find a cure they need to figure out who did this to them, and find their research. The plot provides plenty of sex, but some good old fashion storylining as well. (Xerial came up with this idea, I think it works just to be saying)

Rayve13

As far as the distinction, it seems to basically be a rape vs. no rape level, from what I can tell in reading the boards. If anyone's looking for forced non-consensual, we need heavy. If not, mid should do the job.

Darwishi

Ahh, well in that case I might not play on this game.  I was thinking of a game that was heroes versus villains.  That just sounds like an excuse for everyone to go crazy and have sex with one another where as I wanted to play a heroine that took on someone else rather than something else.  And I just got out of playing a virus-based plot, too much thinking involved and not enough playing my character.  Mostly it just sounds like a bunch of people with a good excuse to have sex, where as I was hoping for a fighting, molesting, and possibly rape type game.  Though I'm not keen on rape scenes, myself, that was the sort of setting I was thinking of.

Natalie C. Barney

Ditto I was thinking of X-Men heroes and heroines that also happened to have relationships and sex. And no rape for me I want a nice soft loving relationship with another woman.

Well, that was sent to me by Mistiq, and it is just a suggestion. I'm plenty open to others.

But, if enthusiasm has waned, I'm not going to fight it particularly. I'm stretched moderately thin as it is. I could handle it, but I have nothing new to contribute at the moment aside from character ideas for heroes and villains. So, if there are other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Mindhazingsquid

I'm open for a game but I also would likie a game that was more story than sex.  I can give story ideas if you would like or need them.

Darwishi

So, I'm fried after fighting with Adobe Premiere all night, but maybe you could have the villains plotting to take out the new x-men or something.  Or better yet, Apocalypse could make an appearance and start pulling people to his side.  Or, something else...like I said I'm rather fried from trying to trouble shoot what's wrong with this program. ^^

tcost

It's all about timing.

If I were running the game (which I couldn't do, I could never find the time, especially not now!), I'd start things off with some occasion for a lot of reunions, various X-Men coming back from this, that, and the other, perhaps after some period while there had been remodelling after a fight that did some serious damage to the HQ (whether this will be Westchester or Snow Valley doesn't really matter for this purpose).  So two characters who hadn't seen one another in a while could suddenly fall into bed, or sit and talk about what they'd been doing while they've been apart before fucking like crazed ferrets, or deliver Ominious News and discuss it gloomily for a while before getting eaten out and fucked -- just to cheer things up, you know.

Once the opening sex scenes have started to wrap up, somebody starts sending messages via intercom or telepathy, breaking in just after the cuddly afterglow is about to get old for each couple or troika or what have you, each in turn.  That summons everybody to a meeting which amounts to a Council of Elrond, where Emma or even Charles dispenses Massive Exposition, and the inital version of the problem as our heroes best understand it so early on in the plot.  This leader then sends one group after another off on various missions, or even the whole kit and kaboodle off to a frontal attack on some enemy who won't be prepared for them;  if the latter, an initial assault would naturally break down as clusters of characters break off on their own from other clusters.

Once the scenes splinter things like rape scenes can happen without so many allies being close at hand that rescue is inevitable, and heroes and villains can duel, even kill one another.  Where things go from here would depend upon how many players are still involved, and an organic development of the plot which should be able to branch and grow on its own by now, arising from chemistry between characters and writers, and from the logical consequences of how a scene finishes up (the henchman escapes with the McGuffin, the captive guard is interrogated/seduced/bought off and reveals what he knows about the mastermind's evil plan, etc.).  You get the idea.

What do people think of this?

The viral idea is a good one, but it reminds me a lot of Love Mansion.  That's not a good enough reason not to employ it, of course;  but unless we want to considerably expand the opening scenes, it wouldn't fit here, unless it's just a short-term sex gas thing set off by one of the heroes on purpose as a prank or somesuch.  If the virus is to be used here, I think that it should be the main theme of the first part of the game, instead of the scenario I described above.

I prefer justice to irony.

Rayve13

The suggested course sounds perfectly reasonable, if in need of a little fleshing out. The only other question I'd want to know the answer to offhand is how many people are planning new characters, and how many are planning to use existing types?

New character...even if she is based off of superman. =OP

Natalie C. Barney

New character but a blatant mutant is unlikely I was thinking she was mutated improving her mind and she uses power armor and devices to fight evil. No one said a mutant had to have powers from their mutations they can be subtle. Like sperior genius and creativity far beyond most humans. Has the advantage she would not likely be seen as a mutant unless they have detectors even thenthe gene could just be so latent she might be passed over as a REAL mutant.

Ooooh, kinda like Lex Luthor in DC ( I read DC sue me, that's where I get my references from) he's theorized to be a metahuman half the time cause he's so smart, and the other half they think he's just human, but a super genius.  Basically, if I read right your character is super smart but unclear if she's a mutant or not, sometimes, right?

And she's a goodguy...just pointing out how she's different than Lex so you don't get the wrong message from this post. ~nod~

Natalie C. Barney

I was thinking Gear in STATIC SHOCK but with more money and resources. As for the equipment powered armor, some kind of vehicle or two and a theme. Maybe Darkforce Energy so she would have all black armor and such with lots of darkness effects and attacks. I had an idea for Living Armor a molding and shifting exoskeleton made out of nanites like Spawns skin. Her actual powers would be Superior Genius and Computer Link (could on touch talk to computers- in her case her armor).

That would be so cool I think and she could have it fit her form like latex sprayed on but enhance her strength, speed and have lots of tricks..

I'm thinking of an Aya Brea/Eve like character where the actual mutation is sentient mitocondria except they aren't really out to take over the world.  They do work and comunicate with her though.  It does give her electric/fire/energy projection.  Unfortunatly because mitocondria use food to create the energy if she makes too much energy she can go into hypoglycemic shock also electronic devices don't work properly around her because of the increased activity of her mitocondria unless they are hardened against EM interference.  Also mutant detectors may end up detecting her as an army of mutants.

Natalie C. Barney

I won't be playing this is not just a fun roleplaying thing in a game like this I want it a game with a GM and a rules system- and I mean with dice and some character generation. I'm not trying any more freeform games. Roleplaying out fantasies in a neutral setting for fun more storytelling is not a game.

Eh, I'm not much for the actual sex scenes especially starting off.  You'll have people going for weeks on end with their sex scenes and the game will die before it gets started.  At least that's my take on the whole starting off with the reunion and sex scene thing.  I'd rather start right before the action, or maybe in the middle of it.  The splintering off is a good idea, maybe one or two heroes per villain.  Though Fayth won't be actually a part of the X-men maybe she's used as a trump card when she sees other people in danger or something.  I dunno.  I'm just throwing an idea out there.

Darthninja

So what is the verdict on this game?  Who is running it?  How does one join?  I wanna play.  I am rather fond of Super-hero games, particularly in the Marvel verse.  I like original characters, but if I have to play somebody already in the 'verse, I am going for... hmm...  Eddie Brock, AKA Venom. :D
