AMERICAN ULTRA

Very good movie! I saw it up close, on red leather seats that recline. My first thoughts, from all of the commercials, was that it would be a slick comedy with a bit of action in it. There was a lot of action! And the comedy was dry at times, subtle, and black. It was very very effective! I loved the cinematography and the directing was superlative.

Not a huge fan of either of the two main characters, but they pulled it off quite perfectly. Connie Britton and Topher Grace were wonderful and the cameo from Bill Pullman was most welcoming.

Overall, a high recommendation!  It was better than The Man from UNCLE.

Any comments?
My song for Piper:

Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood."

Capone

Haven't seen it yet, but want to. Last film I saw was Straight Outta Compton, which I'm actually hoping to see again as I think there's a lot of unexpected themes they were working with in the film's narrative. Really good and enjoyable.

Might make a Labor Day trip out to the theaters for American Ultra.

I truly recommend it. You won't regret it.

Next film to go see is The Visit by M. Night Shyamalan, who has not had a good movie since Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense.
Anyone see his latest flick and wants to comment?
