They don't exactly discuss their top-secret plans via Twitter, even internally. The only thing social media/online presence does for them is propaganda, allowing contact and advertisement to people outside their internal structure for recruitment purposes. So squashing their efforts to do so can only benefit us.

The article starts out giving the impression that they struck gold but then downplays that claim as the story unfolds. It could be that they exaggerated a little bit to make the story stand out. Either way, it's creepy.

I believe the line of thinking for a lot of these guys is that as straight men they can enjoy a picture of a vagina by itself without any other context. Same with breasts. So they assume that penises are inherently erotic to women, and that showing off their dicks will be enough to send complete strangers into lust-induced, cock-craving frenzy.

So a combination of assuming women think just like them, and big egos to boot.

I once witnessed a guy making a lengthy rant at his mobile phone operator (their customer service) for their gross mishandling of something they had "happened to" do to him through their negligence, something that had embarrassed him in front of his friends. Embarrassed him a lot. Man, did he sound haughty in that convo...And he had really chosen his location: he was sitting in front of a pc at the uni library and speaking so everyone within a range of a dozen meters could hear him (including a few of the staff!). I just kept thinking, why isn't he doing this business from home, and over his land phone if he's got one? (this was back in the day when mobile calls were nowhere near as cheap as they are now).  :P

Two or three weeks later, there was a story in the local paper about a man in his twenties who had wanted to send a picture of his erect member to his girlfriend, but due to a mistake (a mistyping or mis-click) he had tossed it around to everyone on his contacts list. He had now filed a lawsuit at his phone operator! There was no picture of the guy, but it just sounded like it might be the same one I had spotted at the library.  ^_ ^

That's probably a common enough mindset (at least among single straight males - married ones and gay males might not be so thrilled.  ;)  )  I'm sure there are even sites where exhibitionists and voyeurs can make contact.  (And by Rule 34, if there wasn't one already, it's probably just popped into existence.)

The problem is in making the assumption that a random stranger wants to see your nude shots.

Men may be aroused by the image of genitalia, but women usually are not.  Things like eyes, abs, butt, and hair are more powerful attractors.  But emotional maturity, the ability to empathize, a good sense of humor, loyalty, intelligence, and financial stability (by that, I don't mean the man provides the woman $$$, rather that the man isn't going to leech $$$ off the woman) are equally if not more effective.

By sending a picture of your nether regions as your first move, you've flat out taken yourself out of the running.

There is that (hands are nice, too) - but I got to thinking about the various combinations of sender, recipient, and relative sexualities.  Getting a sense of whether the recipient is going to be appreciative or if they are going to point and laugh (or post your pics on the Internet) is definitely the best course no matter what nether pics you want to send.

Jo Cox was a rising star on the Labour back benches, even though she was only elected as an MP last year she looked destined to be on front bench before too long.
She was due to appear at local EU Referendum event when she was murdered. There were two other women Mrs Cox at the time of the attack, the assailant threatened them with the knife he was carrying but he walked away leaving them physically unharmed. It seems impossible to apply reason to these kind of events, but it looks like the attacker did what he came to do and then left because he wasn't interested in anyone else.

According to The Hill, 50 State Department officials just signed a memo to Obama saying that the US absolutely must declare war on the Syrian government.

This is something I cannot for the life of me understand, and the only logical explanations are deeply unsettling. The US military is HELL BENT on overthrowing Assad; probably the only thing standing between ISIS and actually conquering Syria. Only this summer, more to the point, have Assad's forces started to push ISIS back at an extremely promising rate. Suddenly, Assad needs to be removed?

This is insane. Whatever crime Assad has committed, his people have never carried out attacks on America and Europe - the people his people are trying to destroy, by contrast, have. Surely, by every iota of logic, Assad is someone we want to keep around at least until we've dealt with ISIS? Jesus Christ.

To be honest, I'm kind of confused about this myself. My understanding is that both Assad and ISIS are the bad guys. Russia as I understand, wants to stabilize the region by putting Assad back in power, but Assad is the reason why we have ISIS in the first place. As I understand, ISIS formed fromed from al-Queda and turned on Assad after he turned his military against his citizens. Take out Assad and ISIS wins. Take out ISIS and Assad wins. Either way is a loss. Take out both Assad and ISIS and you create a gigantic sucking sound that draws in some other unstable lunatic. The only advantage to taking out Assad might be to fight Russia in some sort of proxy war. I don't know.  I get the impression that this is more of an emotional knee jerk reaction from congress.

And somehow this is the USA's responsibility to fix? You can argue that the USA accidentally destabilized the region when stupid-head ( read: Obama ) pulled out of Iraq prematurely (Pun intended), but... it's not our job to run other countries. They collapsed, failed to rebuild and used the US as a scapegoat.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

It's not even Congress, it's the State Department (read, diplomats).  And I'd say that invading the region under a phony pretense was even more destabilizing.
