Machine translations are useful for getting a general idea about what text written in a foreign language means. However, "general idea" isn't exactly accurate; the translator literally translates (word for word) the text which often results in grammatically incorrect, if not completely incoherent, text. We've developed Bad Translator! to show just how funny things can get. Enter any text in English then click "Translate!" to start. The program translates the text back and forth using Google Translate, then displays the final English translation.

The funniest thing I've tried in the last 10 minutes!

"This forum is where much of Elliquiy's silliness is allocated. Thread games, the Salonbox, and other goodies are posted here."

...10 translations later we get:

"This forum is really stupid, because Elliquiy. Date and cable Salonbox games and other things here."

Haha, I shit you not.

"This forum is where much of Elliquiy's silliness is allocated. Thread games, the Salonbox, and other goodies are posted here."

...54 translations later we get:

"Ellikoyi data salonbok wrong forum and demand video."

Green Lantern Oath:

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!

After a 54 transalates:

"Key days in the dark at night and in poor condition and reasonable ... I will try to offer an opportunity!"

Doomsday

Heh, it's like an Engrish creator.

Ex68471

The classic taunt from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!

after 54 translations becomes

Hamster mouth!
Experiments 68469, 68470, and 68472 were perfect successes.
I am Experiment 68471, the catastrophic failure!

My Ons and Offs. Still a work in progress!

Attention: Everybody
I have horribly unreliable Internet. If I am on and suddenly am not, that is the most likely reason. Sorry! :D

I translated the Jedi Code, and I think it's trying to tell me something.

The code, for those not familiar with it:

"There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no death, there is the Force."

And the translated version? Ten times:

"This is passion, there is no peace. It is ignorance, not knowledge. No emotion, not the world. Nyamaa death hath no power."

There is no peace? It's ignorance, not knowledge? THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE CODE.

... and 54 times?

"And good news, love, death, love nyamaa world."

I don't understand anything anymore.

Oh my goodness, I've found something to fill my time!!!

"Spring has finally sprung with a rainy and sunny day." becomes "Rain last spring."

"Green pepper and pepperoni pizza is on the menu for dinner tonight." becomes "Drink menu today"

"What was the eight track, then tape, then disk, is now digital!" becomes "History 2008 - torakkudejitarudoraibu?"

"To explore strange, new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before!" becomes "New life and new life under a new culture and oil rate."

Doomsday

"I'm not so good at farewells, so uhh, that'll do, pig."

...10 translations later we get:

"I am not very clear goodbye boo, what to do, pig."

"I'm not so good at farewells, so uhh, that'll do, pig."

...54 translations later we get:

"Pigs can be seen."

"Spice must flow" from Dune becomes after "Sex" after 54 translates.

"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a starter home. Choose dental insurance, leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose your future. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that?" from Trainspotting becomes "Choose the option of family life. Options for the bag mouth Competitive in the future, but why?" after 54 translates

Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven, first stanza

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Becomes after 54 translates.

"Unfortunately, the port phone bank at midnight and start hammer weak and tired, big enough for ploysing. "Geuneungetna question:" I say - not less. ""

From Call of Cthulhu

There hath he lain for ages and will lie,
Battening on huge seaworms in his sleep;
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

Becomes after 54 translates

"There hath he lain for ages and will lie, Battening on huge seaworms in his sleep; Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die."
