So... watching the Star Wars short 'The Apprentice'.. it really got me thinking. It's been a very long time since I've been in a good Star Wars RP.. and one NOT based on the Old Republic, as many have jumped onto that particular bandwagon. And with the new movies on the distant horizon.. I thought maybe now would be a good time for a good Star Wars RP.

So it would be set about 50 years after Return of the Jedi. The Republic is rebuilt (for the most part), as is the Jedi Order. The new Jedi Academy is just getting under way. The Jed Luke trained would be the ones who have begun the Academy. I would like this RP to be a new story, and not strictly follow the established canon that we have already seen. I don't want anyone to say "Well that's now how it happened in the stories..". This is our story, we're building anew. For example, I want to play the daughter of Leia and Han, who will be a Jedi in training. Her name might be Jaina, might not. If you want to take an established character and change the story of that character a little, bring it up. Let's discuss it. If you want an original character, even better.

I'd like most of the factions to be represented in some manner. Jedi, Republic citizens, bounty hunters, and perhaps a faction trying to rebuild the Empire. You can play whichever you like. But I do forsee the Academy getting the most play. In fact, it could hire out to Republic citizens that live somewhere in the Academy, maybe. They would be utilized as running transports and doing tasks for the council running the Academy maybe. Again, all of this can be discussed as we put together our galaxy.

As for the Academy itself.. well we'll need students and teachers. I think at the most.. for every 5 students there should be 1 Master, or teacher. It would be more of a classroom kind of atmosphere. And eventually students would be allowed to go on missions with the Masters, or accompany the people hired by the Academy for certain tasks. So at least one Master would be needed at first. And maybe each Master could specialize in a certain field.. like theories of the Force or a certain aspect of it, or dueling or something. But they would all teach general things about being a Jedi. And speaking of being Jedi, that wouldn't be a common thing anymore. Keeping in mind most of them were wiped out and all. It's possible the only Jedi in the galaxy are part of the Academy. So when one is seen outside of the Academy, it's quite a thing.
I am going to need someone to help me run this thing. Or.. someone to actually run it. As my pal will attest to, I am an awful GM. I'm more of an idea gal.

Some general (and negotiable)rules:
1. Please be able to post at least a paragraph. I want this to be about storytelling.
2. We don't need sex in the middle of one of the Academy classrooms. At least be respectful in that regard.
3. One character per player to start.
4. Combat system... do we really need one? If we're all good RP'ers and respectful of one another, there shouldn't be any conflict. But there will not be any killing or critically injuring of another character without the consent of the player. But if there is some kind of conflict about how a fight should end, then perhaps we can all talk about it. Or do a simple dice roll. No need to get overbearing about it.
5. Your character doesn't have to be jedi. You can be a smuggler transport captain that is being utilized by the Republic or the Academy. You can be a bounty hunter, whatever kind of character you would have fun with.

So let me know what you think. Thank you for reading.
The definition of a hero, at least in my mind, is someone who can protect what is right. To change and stop the wrong. To fight against the forces that seek to destroy you. And, at the very least ... live life well, and enjoy it with those you love.

Barbarian

I'm interested.

One thing to note: I'm no amatuer here and been to many one on one rps but this will be my first group experience and I may need some guidance (or may not, we shall see). So if that is not an issue, I would like to participate.

I can go in as a Jedi Padawan, a councelor apprentice probably. I also can take the role of a Master if the need arises though.

Pumpkin Seeds

Not sure what I would play, sort of liking the idea of a "ship captain" but unsure.  I am interested though.

 I would be interested in playing a student... something odd though, perhaps like a Rattataki Jedi who was brought to the academy at infancy and has had to deal with some very aggressive tendencies.

Since a few have shown interest, I went ahead and made an initial Wiki page for us. Just to put all our thoughts in one place. Tell me what you think, and what we can add to the story as we start. All of this is up for discussion.. so let's discuss!
https://elliquiy.com/wiki/JediAcademy  Our initial Wiki page
http://ayeneejedi.webs.com/ You can go here for some detailed information about the Jedi. It's an old page a friend of mine made years ago for RP'ing Jedi.

The story is set about 100 years after the destruction of the second Death Star. This is the second Jedi Academy, the first formed just a year or so after the second Death Star's destruction. But it didn't work, there were to many forces opposing it's creation at the time. And at the time, the stigma of being a Jedi was still strong within the Galaxy. But now, those who are Force sensative feel it is safer to be exposed to the public. And thus the second Jedi Academy was begun by Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker.

== Initial Classes ==
* Republic Trooper
* Jedi Padawan
* Jedi Knight
* Jedi Master
* Trasnporter
* Bounty Hunter
* Imperial Loyalist
* Sith (this will be a very limited class)
* Dark Jedi
* Force Adept

== Specialized Jedi Classes ==
Upon a Padawan's ascension to Knighthood, they faced the choice of continuing down one of three branches of Jedi training. Choosing based on preference and personal talents and skills, the opportunity to join the ranks of the Jedi Guardian, Jedi Consular, or Jedi Sentinel was open to all who passed the Jedi Trials.

=== Jedi Guardian ===
Knights preferring to take a physically active stance against the dark side of the Force and all other threats to the Republic were known to pursue the title of Guardian. Brandishing their lightsabers proudly, Guardians focused much of their training on perfecting their sparring and athletic skills, as well as the art of unarmed combat. The Force skills studied by the Guardians were typically those used for quickly disabling an opponent and aiding in agility and stamina. The most profound masters of this specialization were known as Warrior Master.
* '''Jedi Ace''' – Members of the Jedi Starfighter Corps were known as Aces and specialized and used a starfighter as an extension of their being, combining piloting skills with mastery of the Force.
* '''Lightsaber instructors''' – Stationed at the Jedi academy, these individuals were battle-scarred Masters who were determined to pass down their experience to the young students of the Order. The highest ranking instructor within the academy was given the title of battlemaster by the High Council and was responsible for selecting and referring future instructors.
* '''Jedi Peacekeeper''' – Those Jedi wishing to pursue a peacekeeping role were stationed within planetary or sectoral government's security agencies where they worked as the area's special police. Helping to quell riots and capture terrorists, the Temple Security Force was made up of Peacekeepers. Within its ranks, Jedi could be trained as Gate Master, Sniper, or Brute.
* '''Jedi Weapon Master''' – A Jedi Master who mastered the technique of wielding an exotic weapon was dubbed a Weapons Specialist, or Weapon Master. The Weapon Master was among the greatest physical fighters of the Order.

=== Jedi Consular ===
Focusing not on physical force but on mastery of the Force and the sharpening of mental skills, the Jedi Knights who became Consulars worked closely with the Republic Diplomatic Corps and medical facilities. Overseen by the Council of Reconciliation, Consulars worked as healers, prophets, and researchers, wielding a lightsaber only for self defense. The most studied masters of this specialization were known as Sage Master.
* '''Jedi Ambassador''' – The face of the Republic to each newly discovered world, Ambassadors worked closely with bureaucrats to assist in greeting unaligned governments and helping them join the Republic. Some Ambassadors were designated as advisers to certain Senators or even the Supreme Chancellor upon request.
* '''Jedi Diplomat''' – Always right in the middle of a dispute, Jedi Diplomats were given the authority to hammer out a compromise or treaty during tense negotiations, backed by the full support of the Senate and Jedi Order. Jedi were often called upon to act as impartial diplomats. This was possibly due to the Order's traditions of detachment from secular society and the phenomenon of Force-guided intuition. They would serve as moderators and negotiators during disputes, and their judgments were recognized as just and binding. When acting as diplomats, Jedi took the utmost care to be impartial and fair-minded. The legacy of this impartiality was such that, decades after the Jedi Purge and Palpatine's false accusations of the corruption of the Jedi Order, the legend of Jedi impartiality lived on in the memories of some sections of galactic society. Some species who respected the Jedi – for example, the Barabel – retained a tradition of calling upon a Jedi's impartial judgment even for minor interpersonal disputes
* '''Jedi healer''' – Some Jedi would focus on the more humanitarian aspects of the Force, manipulating the Living Force to perform the art of healing. Led by the Circle of Jedi Healers and headquartered out of the Coruscant Temple's Halls of Healing, healers were also deployed to serve aboard MedStar frigates and, occasionally, in Republic's mobile surgical units, or Rimsoos.
* Jedi Lore Keeper – Jedi wishing to contribute to the growth of the Jedi Archives would become Lore Keepers, a group directed by the Librarian's Assembly. Divided into historians, archivists, and librarians, each group worked for the proliferation of knowledge and preservation of the past.
* '''Jedi Researcher''' – Solving theory and updating the Archives of the Order, researchers chose specializations such as that in archaeology, geology, biology, mathematics, and astronomy.
* '''Jedi Seer''' – Those Jedi specifically predisposed to receive visions through the Force were known as Seers, maintaining and updating the Order's holocrons. The most perceptive of these Jedi were known as Prophets and foretold the future of the galaxy.

=== Jedi Sentinel ===
Knights that sought a balance between the intensive combat training of the Jedi Guardians and the wider philosophical views and teaching responsibilities of the Jedi Consulars. These Jedi ferreted out deceit and injustice, bringing it to light. They were generally employed in scouting missions and were skilled in security, computers, or stealth techniques, and also had diplomatic skills.
* '''Jedi investigator''' – Jedi specially appointed by the High Council to uncover hidden and obscure threats to the galaxy such as powerful criminal syndicates, corruption and conspiracy against the Republic and other shady menaces. The Jedi investigator would often work alone and undercover to infiltrate suspicious organizations or would be busy investigating some act of crime.
* '''Jedi Shadow''' – The secret police of the Order, Shadows worked under the supervision of the First Knowledge Council and were dispatched to destroy all agents of the dark side. Heavily employed after the New Sith Wars, the Shadows were responsible for erasing the word "Sith" from the minds of the majority of galactic citizens.
* '''Jedi Watchman''' – Jedi Watchmen were charged with overseeing a particular system or sector, thus serving as a type of liaison officer between the system or sector and the High Council as well as the Republic in general. Jedi Watchmen were often highly skilled in diplomacy and possessed knowledge of the culture of the system or sector they oversaw; typically having spent many years living amongst the people of said world.

== The Code of the Jedi ==
The code as revised by Luke Skywalker.
    Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
    Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
    Jedi respect all life, in any form.
    Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
    Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

ShadowFox89

 Hmm... are we assuming all books/comics in the EU to be non-canon then? It would make things simpler I suppose, and allow us to make things up whole cloth.

That's really what we want to go for. I think if we followed canon, there would be so many who say 'well thats not how it happened' or 'you cant fo that cause this happened'. It's our story, I want us to have free rein. within reason. luke skywalker is not a lapdancer.. for example.

Never thought I'd be able to say that in a sentence.

ShadowFox89

 Well no, not Luke. Now, Mara.... :D

Hm... so would a Rattataki Jedi Sentinel (leaning to Shadow) with Grey Knight tendencies work out? Not wholly dark, but she does love to fight (and has an odd fondness for flowers).

What no none Jedi Force users like Force Adepts and Darkside Adepts for other options, I could see a wise light sided adept being welcome to teach if not train Jedi proper bring a different perspective. And their Darkside versions. Technically they as a group likely would outnumber the Jedi since there are many varied traditions in the Canon.

Baalborn87

I'd like to add my interest to this. Maby as a Jedi Consular who leans towards healing and "herbology". Maby found later in life (early- mid teens) living in the wilds with some animal friends.

I added 'Force Adept', to represent those who are Force sensitive but not aligned with anyone in particular yet.

I'll do my best to work on a CS tomorrow after work, and hopefully have it up tomorrow. Also, anyone willing to co-GM this with me? I'm really bad at being a GM.

I found a picture that offered me a lot of inspiration.

So I am a little torn between an investigator and simply playing a padawan due to my inexperience playing Jedi.

MaiMizzu

I think it should be noted, in case it's not clear.
If you're playing a student, you wouldn't be very advanced at all in regards to being a Jedi. You're a student, and the academy just started. Now if you wanna be a master, or a teacher or something.. that's different, pick whatever you like. But a student shouldn't expect to be anything near advanced when starting. Like my character will know some things through her family, but she won't be that advanced at all.

 Hmm... Another idea is a Sith/Dark Jedi who is cloaking his/her darkside energies and is intent on corrupting the padawan.

Would such a character really be powerful enough at this point in time to be on the inside of an academy full of Jedi, most of them highly trained, and still exert his/her powers enough to corrupt other students while remaining hidden? Is that feasible, or am I looking to much into it?

Why not play a padawan that is struggling with that and draws others into the struggle as well?  That might make for a more dynamic roleplay as the character draws the other students into his own struggle with emotion and such.  Maybe he falls to the dark side..maybe, with the help of the teachers and students, he remains with the Jedi or mayhap he brings the others with him.

Muse

  What sort of age range are you looking for here, Mai?  i was thinking about perhaps a 17 year old Zabrack.  16 is within sight rules, but some people have hang ups with writing characters bellow eighteen who might wind up in erotic situations.

Could work too. The jedi idea was going to be a Rattataki, and they have tendencies towards violence to begin with.

For students, they would have to be younger in the start. Like 16-21 perhaps. My character, she'll be 18 actually. As for the hangups about lower age range sex... well some of our characters are like giant lizards are covered completely in fur or has giant tentacles protruding from their heads. I don't think actual age number would matter much.

Just keep in mind.. this is an Academy. And people would be let go if they got to out of hand. I mean it's a friggin school, for all intents and purposes. If a student is constantly strangling students but then says 'well its how my race is', then they would most likely be asked to leave.

I'm leaning toward my own character being very much an inquisitive person, but also head strong.  She would enjoy being with the others, but is probably someone that would lead them into trouble which might play well with Shadow's character wanting to fight.  As she's trying to do good and find the truth, she's inadvertently walking another student down a bad path or at least not helping him much.

Nah, nothing like that. But being very aggressive in a fight and jumping more towards the aggressive negotiations side of things.
