No playable character in lieu of being just a GM? How sacrificial of you! I see you really want to get this going....

Is there a list of how many characters you're looking for?
Don't know if you want to roleplay with me? The answer is yes, you do. But fine, I guess I'll give you one of these: Ons and Offs, as well as a Wishlist.

I think I'm capping the RP at 12 characters. and yes, doing the GM thing to have the perfect driving RP, maybe one day, I'll be able to have a PC inside.

join! haha

Just a question, Photo. You talked about there being two rival groups now, which is awesome and guarantee's more fun, but are you going to randomly organize the groups or are you going to do split players yourself on a gender/job importance ratio? Hope this comes across as how I'm trying to say it, haha. (:

I will not be using a random system. As characters appear, I'll be classifying them silently from the rest of the players and future players so that no one limits their own creativity.

I'll say this much now, the four characters that are on the board now will NOT all be in the same group. If we actually end up having seven or less characters, I'll fuse every one back into one large group. Gender and job ratio's are all my concern, sort of, we do need a balanced amount of mena nd women, but getting them onto the right team will be my job. Players, please allow yourself to create exactly who you want. They WILL belong somewhere, I guarantee it.

Awesome! Thanks for answering my question, Photo! Just thought I'd ask.

Ergo, we need more men in this RP story! Come on menfolk, it's cars, races and all that good stuff. What's keeping you all from signing up?

a little something that you all might find interesting. I own Forza4 for the x-box, and I'm buying the cars that everyone is pairing their characters with. So far, the Ford Shelby is the most expensive, I haven't taken any of them out on the road yet, but it looks like the Toyota Supra has the best performance over all. Nice car Lithium.

on that note, if anyone wants any kinds of upgrades or conversions to their car let me know. This is SOOO unrequired. It's just that; I'll likely be playing with all of your cars more than you do. So I have the time. :)

I find that super cute for some reason. :P

In terms mods, do we want our cars to be more or less maxed out from the start, or should we start with something more basic or moderate?

It would offer more opportunities if we start out as fairly basic to moderate. Characters can acquire new stuff over time and the GM can direct the characters toward such goals. Hell, perhaps the characters can even expand on their fleet of vehicles.

That is cute, Photo xD

I would definatly say something more basic. MC has just recently finished fixing up her fathers car and only just got it road worthy, so it's nothing too flash just yet.

Also, just to let you know, Photo, I've edited Jamie's last name to fit her more.

Cars are a strange science. There's a lot to it, and the specifics of a moving car has limitless possibilities. Granted not every style of driving is fast, but it's possible. And- Here's the thing about modifications and upgrades, some of them aren't even that expensive. Especially if you know some one who can install them for you. In order to be competitive at all, there are simple things that any experienced mechanic would suggest, depending on the car, and the style of the driver. These 'upgrades' and 'engine tweaks' can, and usually do end up deciding the end of a race. Especially if it's a particularly long or grueling run.

*clears throat*

In truth, this is all very new to me.

I'll likely pm every character about the specifics of their ride, so as not to clog up the interest/recruiting thread. I might wait, depending on each person, I feel like there should be a little bit more competition first.

I'm tempted by this game, would probably go either the way of the Audi R8 or preferably old school with a 1978 Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird (I'd love the YearOne Ban III version of this classic). Alternatively, I'd happily play a non-driving member of the game...

With that in mind. Sometimes a driver wants to get down with some one that has no idea how fast they can drive their car. It's comforting to be treated like a normal person, when everyone treats you like an adrenaline junkie with a death wish.

Drivers & Passengers.

You'd be welcome to join in any fashion you may.

Well, I'm a pretty versatile role player/writer, so I don't mind playing some bit/background parts.

it may be a more important role than you think, but i can see why you would say that, not driving in this game, at this point, does feel like a bit part, but I intend to remedy that by including everyone all of the time, like a 3rd grade teacher, only with adults, and hopefully in a helpful, and not an irritating way. :)

Aiden

Character Name: Clint R. "Cowboy" Forge

Age: March 23rd  //  27

Character build: 6'0 175lbs, Atheltic build, defined shoulders, arms and back from working from a young age and football since he could crawl.

Affiliation: Collusion Repair Specialist (Not formerly trained), Painter, "Gambling Cowboy", Free Lance Driver

Automotive Preference (The car):
Nissan Skyline - GTR34 (Not Street Legal)
Ford F-150 4x4 (Daily Driver)

Brief History: Clint always imaged a life outside of Bonney Texas. His father ran the local car shop/gas station, his mother taught at the local elementary school and he was the town football hero. It was the type of town where everyone knew everyone else's business and the only child could not wait to get away. Clint was born carrying a football (or so his father claimed) and played most his life. His teenage life consisted of girls, football and working under his father at their shop. Unfortunately Clint was never much for mechanic work, like math (another failed subject) he understood the basics but excelled in another aspect of car work, body repair and paint. His family encouraged him to pursue both football and auto body repair, unfortunately after an injury in his senior year his hopes of a life in the NFL came to an end.

With his one escape out of Bonney cut short he turned to collusion repair and packed up his truck and left to make his own way after Highschool. Clint ended up in the west coast working at a small repair shop as the collusion repair and painter. His work was quickly noticed and he accepted higher paying offers from bigger shops and even took jobs on the side. A few years of living on the west introduced him to many things the small town "cowboy" knew little about, the most influential being street racing. Many people gave him shit about driving his truck to late night car shows and races but those who hired him to paint and install their (body) kits always spread the word on his expertise.

It took Clint a few years of scrimping, saving (and a few good nights at the local poker room),  he finally managed to get a car to take on as a project and even went in person to pick up and tow from the Los Angeles docks. The car is mostly stock but he had a few friends he can call up on since who doesn't like a good paint job on their ride?

Appearance: Clint is not the "trendiest" of dressers and is rather "simple" in his taste. Jeans, boots (cowboy) and cowboy shirts or a T-shirt. He has not worn a suit since his parents forced him to go to church when he was a teenager. People have poked fun at his over sized belt buckle but he takes it in stride, more so when he reveals the back has a bottle opener which makes it easier to pop open some beers and start the good times. He talks with a Texan draw and shows proper manners (attributed to his mother). It rare to see him without a cowboy hat, some traditions don't die.

Personality: Clint works hard and likes to relax hard. When it is time to work he is an efficient machine with a work ethic and discipline not seen in men his age. When work is over he loves a good beer, meal and a football game. He does not like the club scene but does enjoy hitting up a local dive bar for a round of pool (Where he can hustle his fair share of good players) or a local gambling hall or casino. Clint is a "goes with the flow" type guy and is not quick to anger and get crazy but can deliver a mean punch if pushed to far. If there is a rodeo in town you better believe you will find Clint there.

Other: Straight and enjoying the hell out of life.

Bit wasn't the right word - I meant non-racing/racer-support characters. Still important and fun to play, just not necessarily spotlight-worthy. ;-)

Aiden

Finally got my rough draft up, Once I talk with Photo about placing him in the story I can plot with other current players.

Who wants their car painted? Clint is great at that!

I see... I would like to see more!

Now it might just be the lack of sleep, but that looks mightily like a hint to me... As for possible non-racing characters off the top of my head:

Former cop, kicked off the force for misuse and sale of police property, who now specialises in the non-legal acquisition and sale of various items
A car nerd, trying to become cool by hanging with the racing crowd
A retired racer, something of a cult legend, now occasionally helps newbies to the scene
Boyfriend/partner/relative of a particular racer (could be overprotective, submissive or dominant depending on player preference)
Former racer, crashed out and left with a limp. Can't race any more, so organises wagers and betting
Total newbie to the scene, there because of a friend - gets the bug when watching first race and is hooked
Loan shark, there with his enforcers to keep an eye on certain racers who have borrowed from him
An enforcer of the aforementioned loan shark or other criminal element
A blogger or column editor, looking for a scoop/story amongst the scene

Anything there look useful?

Anything there look useful?

absolutely, there are more that I will add off of the top of my head. If you don't mind, I'd like to add both lists to the second post of this thread as a brainstorm box for new players.

race enthusiast, key grip for the team, doesn't drive, just supports the team and helps them with whatever they need
family member, maybe some one they are related to can't stop racing, and it's freaking h/er out
straight up love interest, like... a fucking accountant or something that just happens to fall in love with the wrong girl/boy

This RP could use two of everyone of those characters, and three of each one of mine, but I want to stress the idea that you get what you want, and then i find a why to give it to you. This is like a resturuant service, except it's a Roleplay. :)

It was definitely a hint.

Okay, assuming you only want me to make one character, I will sort out which is my favourite (now you've mentioned it, team gopher/dogsbody sounds like it could be fun) and whip up a profile later (I need to eat and nap at some point soon - my brain is barely ticking over at the moment). I'll give anything a go though - so if anybody sees something I have mentioned and really wants me to do that, send me a PM. ;)

Aurora finally has a ride! Just need some more male competitors now.
