Muse

Know, oh Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreampt of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars.

In those days, Amergin, son of Conan, ruled in Aquelonia, a king, a man, a lover, a husband, a father.

But not yet a conqueror.

In due course, the Grand Duke of Cordava, ruler of Zingara, which control the ports that dictate Aquelonia’s trade with the sea.  As is inevitable, the a hot contest for the throne will begin.

This time, Aquelonia will not pass up the chance.

And you are her agents, her heralds, her forerunners, contacted by the Amergin’s bastard son to go in ahead of Aquelonia’s army and do what must be done to ensure that the army has the information they need and the people are ready for their liberators.

I have all manner of missions planned for this game and many of them will have multiple solutions.  There will be at least one 'dungoen crawl' and at least one war, but most of the situations are 'infiltrate this social group to gather information, send a report back, then carry out a sabotage order such as:
   Assassinate the leadership.
Seduce the leadership to attain further influence.
   Kidnap _____.
Utterly destroy (or arrange utter destruction of) the infilrated group.
Smear the good name of the group's leadership by aranging for ravished women to blame their assaults upon said leadership.

System Stuff:  I'll be using the Conan Role playing Game from Mongoose Publishing, 2nd edition,  This is a game based on the 3.5 open game liscence.  I can curently help people make charecters, but don't curently know how to help people get books.  The classes are quite a bit difrent, and the system slightly tweaked to fit the realities of the Hyborian Age better.

Starting level is 4.

Atributes should total 88 before racial modification.  We're somewhat extraodinary people, but there are other extraodinary people, and they only improve with level.

Charecters need not be Aquelonian, not at all, just willing to serve the Aquelonians in this cause, if only for gold and a get out of jail free card, though it would be nice if there was something indictative of trustowrthiness or at least mutual profit in your backgrounds.

Charecter classes of the Hyborean Age:

Barbarian
Borderer
Noble
Nomad
Pirate
Scholar
Soldier
Temptress
Thief

I love the sound of this.  I tend to be wary of system-heavy games, though, because all too often there are prolonged discussions of mechanics and balance-- all of which is fair, of course, but it can be toxic to the storyline.

I will try to locate the text and work up a concept.  Please count me as 'interested' and, hopefully in the next day or two, "in".  :)

I am interested play pirate, who works because he gets 'free card from death sentence' deal. Swearing oath in name of sea goddess and if he breaks it he gets drowned next time he is on touch anyway to the water.

So, what sort class pirates are?

Muse

Zaer, pirates are a half way point between the thief and the fighter. They are heavily skilled and can assassinate well, but neither of those points quite equal the theif.  They're not the soldier's or barbarians match in combat.  On the other hand they may have the highest dodge defense in the entire game and can usualy drop one mid-level lackey at the begining of combat just by hitting him before his initiative comes up.

Zaer Darkwail

Hmmm, sounds good. I read once Conan d20 and noticed instead 'races' there are 'nations and tribes' to give color to human race and additional benefits. As you got the book any recommendations for race for a pirate? I would want to play a black skinned pirate who comes from race which makes natural born pirates (skills wise or culture, even both). Where piracy could be even considered 'honorable' trade.

Also good feats to able fight in style of pirate and head-to-toe. Anycase I am interested :).

WyzardWhately

Ha!  I want to play one of those quasi-asian mesmerist dudes.  A scholar, with the sorcery stuff.  Useful as a spy for several reasons.  What level are we starting at?
Look!  I have an ons and offs list now!  https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=13580.0
It's still really sketchy, though.

I think he said level 4th. And I'm considering a noble from Shem, too, but I need Muse to answer a few questions for me to see if I would fit.

First, how fast is this game expected to be moving?

Wait, you mean point-buy or a the six attributes totalling 88?

Ravished women are easy enough to obtain, but who in Zingara would pay any attention to it?
Yeah, it probably happens all the time, but it's not likely to be an important fact of city life ;D!

Alas, probably all too true, but the 'beauties' of historical chivalry provide an answer!  All one needs to do to tarnish a reputation of a noble or arrange utter destruction of a commoner is slander him for the deflowering and ravishing of a noble woman!

And now for something completely different.

Once I get the game up and running I'll work for 2-3 GM posts a week.

I know there's a race such as you describe, Zaer, such oens are Belit's Black Corsair's, but I'm to exhausted to look them up right now.  If I'm not back with you in 24 hours, please smack me here and in PM to rememeber!

Wiz, you mean Khitai?  Fun guys!

Muse

The game is in Insane Musigns, the Lamb.

Does anyone not need charecter sheet help?

Does anyone else have 2nd edition rules?  If so, can they help?

I'm not sure it would matter much more, actually, especially in Zingara where nobles have somewhat "loose" ethics... ;D But, it never hurts to slander them - and for added insult, I'd just pick one who has a lover she wishes to remain secret.
Anyway, in case I actually decide to join, would the Athlantean edition be enough?

^_^

If you joined with nothing, you'd be better equiped then the minimum requirement.  Best thing to do if you were going to do that would be tel me the the class and feats you want before you take them and I'll tell you if they've changed.  ^_^
