There have always been laws to govern the galaxy. Statutes and principals put in place by those in power for the purpose of governing the population and protecting the average citizen. In the time of The Old Republic these laws, for the most part, were sensible. Restricting things like murder, thievery, and the sale of harmful goods. However, ever since Chancellor Palpatine installed himself as Emperor and replaced the Old Republic with his Galactic Empire things have changed drastically. Palpatine rose to power out of the chaos of The Clone Wars, playing on the fear of the galaxy's peoples in order to trick them into giving up their freedom. Through masterful manipulation he managed to convince the peoples of the galaxy that the Jedi Order, who had long been the protectors against the rise of a dictator, were in fact their enemy and that the Jedi needed to be destroyed. After that was done there was no one to stand in the way as Palpatine ascended to power on the promise of ending the dangers of The Clone Wars and bringing about a new era of peace, order, and prosperity.

However, what the galaxy received was more than what it had bargained for. From day one Emperor Palpatine's primary goal has been to further tighten his control over the galaxy. He has done this through the persecution and elimination of anyone who could become one of his enemies, as well as through the emplacement of extreme restrictions on the peoples of the galaxy. The Emperor has outlawed many things, from certain technological advancements, to many forms of art, to free speech. These excessive restrictions have given rise to a massive black market, and made outlaws of those who in other times would be law abiding citizens.

Now, with the rise of the rebellion the Empire's military is stretched further than ever before. There are not enough forces to properly crack down on the underworld or the illegal operations that take place within it. In short it is a time of great opportunity for those who are willing to take the risk of breaking the law. Vast fortunes can be made and adventures can be had. All it takes is the will and the skill to survive within the Galactic Underworld.






O.O.C.
The Basics
Ok, so this is my attempt to get a game going within the setting of the Star Wars universe. The idea came from a posting by  Florence in the GMs wanted area. As you may have gathered from the short intro above the game will focus on the people who populate the galaxy's underworld such as smugglers, bounty hunters, criminals, fugitives, etc. Specifically the story will follow the adventures of the crew of  a single ship as they attempt to get rich or die trying. Along the way they will make unexpected friends, enemies, and possibly even effect the course of galactic history. If this sounds like something you're interested in then please feel free to read a bit further.

The Tone
A lot of the areas our characters will come into contact with will be hives of scum and villainy and a lot of the characters they come into contact with will be less than morally upright individuals. With that in mind the tone I'm going for with this game is something a bit darker than the movies but not so dark as to be unrecognizable as Star Wars. In short there will be real danger, there will be death, there will outright slavery and Hutt style 'indentured servitude', there will be the possibility of non-consent assuming there are players interested in such a situation, and there will be slave girls in bikinis.

The Rules
The rules are pretty simple and really should go without saying, but I'm still gonna say them.

Be Polite To Other Players: This is really self explanatory, don't be mean to anyone.

Don't Create Drama OOC: This follows along with the be polite rule. IC drama is great for a game OOC drama is not.

Don't God Mod/Move Other Players' Characters Without Permission: No one likes having someone else move their characters around without their permission, so don't do it to anyone.

Conflicts Between Player Characters Will Be Decided By The GM If The Two Players Cannot Agree On A Result: In situations where two or more players' characters come into conflict with one another and the players involved can't agree on who should win the GM will step in and decide the victor.

To System or Not to System?
The short answer is no. The slightly longer answer is no with the catch that there will be encounters and battles where the success or failure of the player characters is determined by the GM for the sake of progressing the story and avoiding a situation where the player characters are over powered/never really at risk of losing.

The Characters
Right now I'm looking for between 3 and 7 other players to play the roles of the members of the ship's crew. These crew members can be pretty much anyone or anything you want them to be. Though I am going to have to insist that all characters be original rather than cannon characters. So no, you can't be Lando before he took control of Cloud City or something like that. I'd like to ask that everyone keep their characters reasonably powered/skilled I'm not looking for someone who is awesome at everything/has no weaknesses. How dark and evil can the PCs be? I'd be interested in playing someone with the morals of a Bobba Fett or an Armitage Hux more than a Han Solo pre Episode IV.

Species Human
Gender Female
Age Early twenties
Appearance Details Fairly tall for a woman (5'9) but with a light build.  Without the jacket it's more obvious that she's unusually thin.  Her blue hair is the result of a very high quality dye, which even keeps the roots that color for months.
Personality Likes to joke around and not take things seriously, although easily flustered if anyone turns the jokes back on her.  Something of an insomniac, with a tendency to be introspective and gloomy late at night.
Bio Most people in the Republic and Empire live on worlds close to one standard gravity.  Such was not the case for Alis's family, who worked as miners on a tiny hunk of a planetoid barely large enough to provide a tenth of standard gravity.  This childhood left her with little stamina or strength in normal gravity, and she is also extremely clumsy, prone to tripping over her own feet when she isn't paying attention.  Despite her clumsiness on the ground, she's a crack shot and an ace pilot, having flown small spaceships since she was old enough to use a booster seat.

The life of a miner on a tiny hunk of rock didn't appeal to Alis, so at the age of seventeen she stowed away aboard a freighter and never looked back.  Over the years she found exciting work, mostly as a pilot, but occasionally pulling 'jobs' for various criminal organizations.  It was all in fun, and she never agreed to anything that could get someone hurt.  Until one day her friend took a job for a gangster, and when her she tripped at just the wrong moment and blew the heist, she found herself in debt up to her eyebrows to a Hutt.

Alis is now willing to do whatever it takes to keep her head above water.  Crime used to be a hobby to spice up typically boring freighter jobs, but now she's willing to do anything to get enough money to keep paying her debts.  Anything.
Equipment A standard blaster pistol, but her baby is a modified sniper rifle named Rose.  She knows that getting into close combat is a bad idea for her, so she likes to provide cover fire for more robust people when possible.
Skills: An Ace pilot, and quite good with pistol or rifle... assuming she's standing still.  She was raised in low gravity, and while she is clumsy on the ground, she is a ballerina in zero G.  She's not an expert mechanic, but she knows enough to keep a ship flying in a pinch, and to keep her rifle Rose in better than factory condition.
Character's Ons The character is a strongly lesbian leaning bisexual, with a thing for twi'leks she's ashamed to admit the extent of.  She's a switch, but without any real BDSM experience to understand her own inclinations.  Given her enjoyment of freedom and veneer of confidence, she's ashamed that she enjoys being dominated or tied up and will be reluctant to admit it.
Character's Offs She absolutely can't stand being messy.  Slime, mud, body fluids... it doesn't matter, she has a strong ick factor that will cool her off faster than the shower she uses to clean up at the first opportunity.
Player's Ons I like the idea of playing with some elements of coercion here.  She's desperate and willing to do things, both herself and to others, that she normally wouldn't.  I also wouldn't mind exploring her learning about being a switch, and learning to accept her enjoyment of submission.
Player's Offs Pregnancy, hard torture, or violent rape aren't my thing.  Threats of those can be leveled, and I'm fine with things happening to others or briefly to my character if it fits the scene, but they don't interest me to play out in detail.

Appearance Details Nhadala is fond of leather, the more exotic the better. One or two of her outfits may even be leather from a sentient creature...though the way she spins tales it's impossible to know for sure.
Personality Nhadala comes across as charming, cheerful, fun loving, and a daredevil. She’s fond of telling stories, most of which center around herself in some way. This belies a sadistic, amoral, greedy, and remorseless underbelly to her personality. While not reckless, she’ll gladly toss a grenade into a room on her way out, unnecessarily shoot a surrendered guard, or capture a pretty bystander for enslavement. There are few, if any, smuggling or sabotage jobs she won’t take but she’ll often use her looks and skills to negotiate a better payment for any job .
Bio Nhadala was born as the slave of a Zygerrian industrialist. Both beautiful and a prodigy when it came to many matters of trade, Nhadala’s owner made her into his prized pet, giving her education, training, and access unheard of for most slaves. Her owner was sure to use her in any way he saw fit and Nhadala was used to putting on a smile no matter the circumstance. While she loved the power she had as chief slave, she knew one day she would need to gain her freedom to satisfy all her own lusts and desires.
Nhadala got her chance when she seized control of her owner’s ship, the Malice after organizing a well planned slave revolt. While immediately jettisoning the Zygerrians into space, it would be several days of playing with her former owner before he joined them. Now the Malice’s captain, Nhadala became a notorious pirate, slaver, and smuggler getting perverse pleasure in enslaving or (slowly) killing any Falleen or Zyggerian she comes across.
Equipment An ornate custom enhanced blaster pistol. An expensive vibroknife with beautiful engraved alien writing. Advanced HUD goggles she pushes against her forehead outside of combat.
Skills: Seduction, charm, hand-to-hand combat, blaster pistols, smuggling, intimidation of slaves.
Character's Ons: Domination, sexual sadism, public use, public humiliation, whipping, electric shocking.

Zalara Faan
Species Echani
Gender Female
Age 28
Appearance Details Zalara has the same white skin that all Echani have with the exception that much of her body is covered in tattoos.  Zalara keeps her greyish white hair tied in a tight tail on the back of her head.  The sides of her head are shaved up to her ears.  She generally wears a hood to hide the majority of her face from view.

Personality Passionate, fiery, sultry, aggressive, cold and street smart.  Zalara doesn't look like much in polite company outside of her dark brooding appearance.  She's relatively average height and weight, seeming almost stoic most times but that is where most fail to understand Zalara's personality.  She is ferocious and unstoppable when her mind is set on something and she is a disciplined professional.  She has learned over the years to use her looks and her discipline to get what she wants and does not hesitate to do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals.  Despite her fiery personality, Zalara is cold and calculating and rarely hesitates in acting when she sees the advantage in it.

Bio Zalara Faan was the daughter of a medium level merchant in Eshani's business district.  She grew up a relatively regular kid until her father and a number of other local businessmen were rounded up by the Empire for suspected sedition and supporting the rebels through financial support.  While there had never been any truth to the charges, Raeara Faan and his co-conspirators were found guilty and executed.  Zalara was too young at the time to be considered a conspirator, and was taken in by friend of the family who had once been a well known Echani warrior.  Zalara learned discipline and fighting techniques while she grew up in the care of her mentor.

Zarlara's mentor died before she had fully matured to adulthood, leaving Zalara on her own again.  Zalara spent the next couple of years selling her skills for passage out of Empire controlled space.  The skills she collected in those years since she left Eshan have turned her into a formidable bounty hunter and smuggler.  Zalara's main focus had always been to stay one step ahead of Hunters for the Empire who would stop at nothing to find her and force her into an Empire training camp.  Echani women are renowned warriors and the Empire relishes a chance to capture an Echani outside their homeworld which is heavily defended by Echani Hand Maidens.  Working for a veritable who's who of the galactic black market and smuggling bosses along the outer systems and into Empire controlled space, Zalara quickly earned a reputation as a capable smuggler and hunter.  Generally signing onto smaller crews for periods of time to freshen up her skills or make new contacts, Zalara rarely stays in one place for very long.  While he has a number of locations and planets that she regularly visits, very few ever know when or where she'll pop up next.  She has no love for the rebellion, but hates the Empire for what they did to her father.  While Zalara does have a very cloudy code of ethics that guides her sense of honor and duty, she still works for credits.  She has never compromised a commission regardless of the sum being offered and has never failed to complete a commission lending greatly to her reputation.       

Equipment Zalara carries two single handed swords forged from the Mandalorian iron known as Beskar.  She also carries a Heavy blaster pistol. 
Skills: Zalara was trained by an Echani hand maiden in combat and trained by other bounty hunters and smugglers in the trade.  She is highly skill in acrobatics using a two handed sword fighting skill in unison with her acrobatics to keep targets off guard up close.  She has keen perception helping both in combat and in tracking her prey.  With her perceptions, Zalara is also skilled in stealth and survival, both skills that lend themselves to being a high caliber Bounty Hunter and retrieval specialist.  Zalara is a skilled pilot in both smaller fighters and medium level transports. 

Character's Ons Zalara has developed into a sexual sadist after years as a young adult being forced or persuaded to attend sexual favors for her survival.  She enjoys abusing female slaves after retrieval, forcing them to pleasure her while giving them the beatings.  She is open to essentially anything short of death, blood and excrement.  Male slaves and futa's will be used for sex, but generally will be forced into painful forms of forced penetration.

Age 24 (Twi'lek adulthood spans the ages 16-44)
Appearance Details A very hands-on attitude towards her job has Jinx doing work that is usually done by astromec or maintenance droids. As a consequence, she is almost always covered in engine grease, carbon scorring, or just plain, old fashioned dirt and dust. That is not to say that she's a pigpen: on off hours she takes care to keep herself quite clean. But there's a limit to how clean you can keep yourself in the engine room.
Personality Jinx is determined not to be typecast as the typical Twi'lek pleasure slave. She peppers her conversation with technical terms, affects an almost puritanical attitude towards taboo subjects, and is always eager to tell you about her latest theory on hyperspace mechanics. This is an act, however, and once she warms to a person she can be just as laid back and chummy as they come.
Bio Born in a Twi'lek colony on Naboo, Jinx was spared the harshness of life on the home planet, and the strong Republic presence on the Chancellor's home planet kept her people safe from the usual predations of slavers and raiders. The safety of Jinx's people could do nothing to protect her from the terminal boredom of growing up on an agricultural commune, however. She ran away for the first time when she was five years old, making it all the way to the garrison outpost before she was returned home. The next time, she made it as far as Naboo City, Snd the third time, when she was 11, she stowed away aboard a cargo transport, and they were well on their way to hyperspace by the time she was discovered.

Recognizing the same kind of wanderlust that sent him packing from Corellia at a disgracefully early age, the captain of the transport, Urr Mandel, decided that his aging ship and even more aging-er engineer could use some help. A child's small hands were better for working with delicate machinery, after all. Jinx had always had an aptitude for farm equipment, and what was a hyperdrive but a slightly more complicated moisture injector?

By the time she finally got the credits and the nerve to call home and let her parents know that she was alive, Jinx had become a born-again spacer, ready to take on the galaxy with a good ship and a trusted blaster at her side.
Equipment Blaster pistol, tool belt, droid interface tool and readout. Pinup pictures of luxury starships.
Skills: Ace mechanic, backup pilot, droid relations expert. In the bottom of her trunk, she has a slave girl outfit if the team ever needs an infiltration job to send her for. But she gets a combat bonus every time she puts it on. Nonnegotiable.
Character's Ons Jinx has a girl or a boy in every port. She enjoys seduction and flying casual. She's happy enough with vanilla affairs, but at a partner's request, she IS frightfully good with machines, after all.
Character's Offs Rape, coercion, emotional attachment, getting it on with co-workers. Although that last point is more a theory than something she's been very good at practicing.

Age 206, upper end of middle age

Appearance Details Several discolored patches of fur along his back from his time under Imperial task masters.

Personality Warm and protective to those he feels close towards while extremely aggressive towards anyone who threatens them. Has a tendency to swing or shoot first without thinking to stop and ask questions, especially at the gloss white of Imperial armor. Known to throw a tantrum when losing at Dejarik. Has a speech impediment that allows most people to better understand his growls without having to know the intricacies of his language.

Bio Mawrrhohn spent a fair amount of his life among the trees of Kashyyyk, living a rather peaceful life until the galaxy began to burn. He remembers fighting the droids, battering and blasting them. Then it had been those traitorous clones. Though he might not consider it that way, he had been lucky enough to be captured. The next two decades of his life were spent working in the various construction projects of the fledging empire and being constantly moved around so that his location was hard to track.
During that time his hatred for the Empire kindled and grew, his mind working along multiple paths of revenge that he would eagerly chase were he ever given the chance. He vented his aggression in the meaningless fights his tormentors often held on the more backwater installations. Through not plotting of his own, as it was never his strong point, he got caught up in a riot that allowed him to escape, hopping onto an unattended freighter and making a quick jump.
Mawrrhohn has spent the last year or so, on the run, picking up odd jobs that require a little extra muscle. He has considered returning home but has been feeling unworthy, at least in the eyes of his clan. Not to mention that doing these jobs generally allowed him to crack a few bucket heads between his great paws. (Open to plotting him knowing a member of the crew already)

Equipment A heavy bowcaster from which he hangs various trinkets and trophies that hold significance to him. An Imperial prison baton from his escape, so that he can return the favor of a good shock when the occasion arises.

Skills: Intimidation, Strength, Hand to hand combat.

Character's Ons Tenderness with his lover, cuddling.

Character's Offs Over aggression, loud noises, violence towards someone he cares about.

Appearance Details

Personality Flippant to an extreme, he seems to take a delight in seeing just how far he can get with his attitude towards people in "authority". Despite very loose and carefree demeanor he is very precise and efficient in how he moves and works.

Bio A former Imperial Agent, his employment came to an end while working undercover to eliminate a crime boss who was speaking a little to loudly against the empire. The plan was for him to infiltrate the group, disrupt its workings from the inside, and leave the Boss open for arrest by Imperial Forces. What happened was his superiors instead bombed the location knowing full well he was on location, having gotten quite tired of his flippant attitude and the way he would ignore mission parameters for his own goals and enjoyment. Somewhat thankfully this wasn't completely unplanned knowing full well his superiors would write him off, though not expecting it quite in that style. He was able to survive the initial blast and hide himself away from the following searches and patrols. Declared dead he gathered the hidden and stashed away resources he had and went on to continue his life free of Imperial interference. A bit of reconstructive surgery, further cybernetic augmentations, and credits to the write papers people, and Telko started his life a new with an interest in the glamorous world of Smuggling..

Equipment Carries a wide assortment of Heavy Blaster Pistols, Vibro-blades, Detonators (frag, knockout gas, Thermal) , and if the situation calls for it a heavy disruptor.
Skills:  Disguise, Infiltration, Interrogation, Torture, Bartering, Negotiations, Stealth, Small Arms, Short blades, Ship Gunnery, Can pilot well enough to get to a landing pad, so long as someoen else sets it down, and just enough mechanical repair to be useful so long as someone else knows whats wrong.

Character's Ons Very open to most things, though tends to steer away from unwanted pain, but happy to torment in other ways (orgasm denial, excessive edging)
Character's Offs Rape, Snuff (unless its blasting someone he dislikes, that can get his motor started..), Gross things (scat, vomit, ect) and overly weird sexual things (What the hell do you mean you want to put it in my ear..?)

Appearance Details Well he's got short brown hair... no wait he has blue skin.... er.... and now he has four arms.... you know what forget it!
Personality Grant is, generally, a private person. He doesn't speak much about his past or seriously discuss his opinions on most subjects. In fact it takes quite a bit of trust for Grant to actually open up to anyone. At first glance Grant seems to be very self motivated and even uncaring towards others, as if his only motivation is his own profit. Though the truth of the matter is somewhat different, thanks to his past, and the fact that he has no idea how long he can expect to live, Grant tends to focus on enjoying his life. On making each day count and not passing up any opportunities, if that brings him into conflict with others then so be it. That having been said he can also be a very loyal person to the few people he does consider as meriting his loyalty.

Bio Grant never knew his mother, nor his father, in fact his earliest memories are of being inside a science laboratory. These recollections aren't full fledged memories but rather flashes, similar to still images held in front of one's face for only the shortest of moments. Flashes of pain, fear, and loneliness all tinged with the thought of imminent death. When Grant was fifteen years old the laboratory he was being held within was visited by a smuggler named Varo Nillis who was delivering supplies to the scientists there. Varo learned just what sort of illegal research was being conducted in the lab and for whatever reason took pity on Grant. Several nights later Varo secretly made his way into the lab broke Grant free. Together Varo and Grant escaped the lab and the scientists within it.

For the next fifty-two years Grant lived as Varo's adoptive son. Varo taught Grant the ways of a smuggler's life, how to pilot, how to fight, how to live. Eventually Varo grew to old to continue such a life and retired, passing his ship, weapons, and other such possessions on to Grant. Since that day Grant has continued to live the life that his 'father' taught him. Constantly staying one step ahead of the authorities, making credits when and where he can, and living each day to the fullest.

Equipment:
Slicewire A length of extremely sharp wire held between two handles, useful for sneaking up on someone and silently eliminating them.
BR-16 Vibro-Knife: A simple vibro-knife Grant carries it as a weapon of last resort
DX-13 Blaster Pistol: One of Grant's two blaster pistols, the DX-13 is fire-able in either semi-automatic or fully automatic modes. The weapon sports two triggers, one in front of the other, making it difficult to use by those without suitably long fingers.
Renegade Heavy Blaster Pistol One of Grant's two blaster pistols, the Renegade is an almost overly powerful pistol capable of firing a shot that is more on par with blaster rifles.
Nacht-5 Smoke Grenades: Grenades which discharge thick grey smoke when detonated rather than exploding.
Skills:
Shapeshifter: Grant has the natural ability to change the shape, size, coloration, and texture of his body at will. He can adopt the form of almost any species he encounters allowing him to try on bodies and faces the way that other beings try on clothes. He cannot however mimic the natural abilities of those races he copies, for instance transforming into a Zeltron doesn't make him able to exude pheromones like a true Zeltron can.
Quick Reflexes:: Grant has very fast reflexes allowing him to dodge or parry blows that most other beings wouldn't even see coming.
Clever: Grant is both smart and very good at thinking on his toes and coming up with things 'on the fly.' It is rare that he is unable to adapt to a given situation.
Excellent Aim: One of the first things Varo taught Grant was how to fire a weapon, and actually put the shot where he wanted it to go. At Varo's insistence Grant practiced his shooting every day and continues to do so out of habit. 
Skilled Pilot: Grant is a highly skilled pilot having spent literally years worth of time behind the controls of various craft.
Character's Ons Sex with just about any one in any way possible. Grant tends to prefer rough, passionate, bondage laden sex in which he is the dominant, but is also open to soft and romantic encounters.
Character's Offs Non-Consent...and that's about it really. He'll try almost anything so long as everyone is willing.

Alright, so that brings us up to seven characters. 3 males, 4 females. I'll be putting up an OOC thread shortly, then an IC thread either tonight or tomorrow depending on how hard the writing bug bites me. There is still room for an 8th character if anyone is lurking/on the fence/etc. Though after we get things rolling I'll likely close of recruitment.

Why is it that I always:

A - miss the Star Wars threads until there are too many characters to add more?

B - want to join another game when there are already too many on my plate?

If the recruitment is still ongoing, I have three concepts and I'm willing to tweak any of them to make them a better fit.

Cinjin Race A Miralukan Zeison Sha  Born without eyes, all Miraluka 'see' using the Force.  Trained in a tradition that distrusted the Jedi and involved the student's family in the training, he had to watch an Imperial squad murder his family when somebody reported that they were sheltering Jedi.  Armed with the Zeison Sha throwing disk rather than a lightsaber, he's Hell bent on getting a little payback.

Shaa Raa A Kel Dor black marketeer.  Born to a rich family, he was a gambler and a wastrel.  Deeply in debt and unwilling to ask his family for money, he's spent a lot of time in the belly of the beast.  He's been clawing his way back to a comfortable life.  He'd sell a drunken party girl to a Hutt if he though he could make enough for the risk to be worth his while.

Randal Ray A Human nerf herder.  Literally, a former nerf herder.  He learned to shoot to protect the herds and he learned to pilot a speeder out of boredom.  He made the mistake of winning a race that some unpleasant people had spent a lot of money trying to fix and he wants to put as much space between himself and them as he can because they've made it quite clear what will happen to him if they catch him.
There are nights when the wolves are silent and it the moon that howls.
