Marvel: 2099

"Welcome to Elysium City, Citizen. The tomorrow you deserve, today. Do you remember famine? Dying of starvation out in a desert, or the wilderness. Of course you don't. Do you remember plague? Vile diseases and genetic conditions that crippled humanity. Of course you don't. Do you remember war? Man turned against man in displays of brutal violence. Of course you don't. And remember, you will never have to know any of them, thanks to Alchemax. We bring you the opportunity to live in a safe env... enviirooo.... zzz... Critical Damage, Shutting down."

The Premise

Marvel: 2099 is an alternate universe marvel game, based on the comic continuity of the same name known as Earth-928. Do bear in mind there are many alterations of my own. The Age of Heroes is over. Nobody alive remembers what happened to them, and records tell a confusing tale with the catastrophic event being known as Incident Alpha . But now North America in the year 2099 has become a futuristic nation. It is a corporate state, however it is relatively functional with primarily happy and fortunate citizens. While there is a wealthy class of social elite the every day people and citizens are free from worries like food, power, water and sickness. Almost all of those issues have been cured by the technology centered state. War has become obsolete as struggles and worries such as famine have been eradicated.

Crime has been very sparse for decades, until Incident Omega. The Vault of Villains, containing relics of the past superhumans and even some frozen using cryogenics, has been re-opened. Villains have flooded out into the world once again. The city of bright lights and wonder is doused with chaos. After several national arms amnesties America is woefully under-equipped to deal with a wave of crime like this. The villains ran free for six months and eventually it was deemed there was no choice but to awake the Heroes, too, letting them patrol the streets and defend the people from the machinations of villains. Crime is on the rise, inspired by the success of the villains, and the Government is almost entirely helpless. Now you are either an old hero or villain, or a new person picking up their mantle, or perhaps even someone inspired by this new world of heroics and villainy trying to spread crime or justice.

History

The Golden Age of heroes, beginning in the mid 20th century, was a time of great highs and lows for humanity. Times were unpredictable, as heroes and villains each won out great victories over the other side. This trend continued for decades, with each side striking out at the other. Until one day the age met its twilight. Nobody alive can truly remember what happened on December 12t, 2022. All anyone knows is that almost every hero and villain was either killed or laid low within a single day by a crippling virus. Those who survived were frozen, awaiting theday that a cure could be found. Even the villains were spared, as society was unable to condemn them to death in cold blood despite their atrocities. And so they were retired to the twin Vaults, one of heroes and one of villains. The day went down in history books as Incident Alpha.

And society would move on. Utilising the time of great peace as many criminals feared they would fall victim to the same plague. Uninhibited by the antics of villains, and aided by what technology could be salvaged, humanity was propelled into a time of prosperity. Cities spread out for miles, people grew wealthy and happy. Problems like disease, famine and even war were eradicated in a few decades. Society was considered something of a utopia. Alchemax, a megacorporation, replaced the Government of the united states. They governed fairly, having no need for the worries of the past an economic focus only made sense. And, despite the fears of many, they were responsible and measured in their actions. Overseen by a publicly elected board of impartial Directors the company propelled education to a new level, furthering mankind even more.

Soon the impossible was become a regularity. Humanity colonised the moon, and began developing highly efficient solar travel. Missions to mars became swift and easy, and talks were in place to colonise that, too, and even consider heading out into the galaxy as a whole. Science created flawless genetic crops, grown underground in ideal conditions and designed to be easily flavoured, with perfect nutritional value. Vast swathes of the world became wildlife reserves, as almost all populations were drawn into the new gigantic cities, each housing hundreds of millions of people and stretching for hundreds of square miles. Despite the dense population issues of the past like pollution were entirely overcome, all factories and vehicles running on a form of Hydrogen fuel cell and only producing water vapor. Disease was conquered entirely, and the human life expectancy rose to over a century. Even the cures to the most crippling illnesses and genetic conditions were readily available to the common man.

Centuries passed in this new world, and most people were content. But what people began to forget was to ask why. Why had someone laid low the heroes and villains of the past.

That person waited for many decades before their plan could come full circle. Eventually, after crime rates dropped to negligible levels and war was non existent, they saw their opportunity. America and the world as a whole was defenseless. A nation of unarmed and ill prepared pacifists faced with the last supervillain. When they went about their plan none could stand in their way. Men and women were tossed aside like ragdolls as they marched through the new capital of North America, Elysium. Their goal became clear immediately, as they headed directly for the Vault of villains. The pitiful police attempted to slow their progress, but nothing could be done. Soon enough they had sealed themselves within the vault and set about the culmination of a centuries work.

Hours passed and no efforts to breach the vault succeeded. And then, at long last, a handful of police officers managed to enter the building. What they found was shocking, and confusing. The vaults had not been destroyed or robbed. Instead they had simply been opened. Everything was gone, and reports rapidly rained in of the super villains of the past appearing across Elysium city. And note only that, but the masked villain responsible had vanished along with everything else. This day was known as Incident Omega.

Unfortunately this new world quickly proved to be something of a playground the villains. They were nearly unstoppable, and the world was not at all ready for them. For the first few months villainous plots were hatched and executed easily, despite a few bold people taking up arms and trying to fight back. Regular crime began to rise as the potential to do anything was seen so clearly. Underground trades of biological and cybernetic enhancements have soared, giving superhuman abilities to various criminals and vigilantes. It was only a month ago that the Government finally gave in, choosing to re-open the Vault of Heroes and ask for their assistance. The re-awakened heroes swiftly saw that no matter their moral qualms with the state of North America the real enemy were the villains on the loose. The vast population centers all make for ideal and easy targets, while the concrete jungles and neon lights make it nearly impossible to hunt down the villains responsible.

Location

Elysium city is a modern marvel. A vast, sprawling megacity with a population of one hundred million people and occupying more than four thousand square kilometers of land on the East coast of North America. It was constructed in order to consolidate a variety of other large populations into a more modern city, befitting the modern world. Constructed from the ground up with the future in mind it is an organised and well-run creation. Pollution is non-existent, citizens are wealthier here than anywhere else in the world, health care is free and readily available, food is cheap and varied and crime rates were near zero, until incident Omega.

Now fear has returned to the population, as they are surrounded by both God-like beings and even simply those who are willing to fight for the first time in their lives. The vast population and density makes for a sea of ideal targets. Now Alchemax, the megacorporation who have run America for decades, are attempting to make contact with the superheroes and organise them into a force backed up by the law. Of course actual police backup is limited to non existent, but at least they can assist in getting the public on the right side.

Despite the corporate run future Elysium was far from a dystopian place. The populace were genuinely happy, and genuinely free. Civil liberties were at an all time high and crime was not defeated by a brutal militant regime but rather a society so fortunate that they no longer have a need for criminal acts. Having said that now that villains have risen again there is a unique underbelly to the city. Where traditional crime has fallen the trade for prohibited goods has rose. Weaponry, advanced gadgets and equipment, biological and cybernetic enhancements. All are possible, most are illegal, but anything can be bought.

Rules

Drama: Simple enough rule, and one that goes in every group game. Don't start or participate in drama, try to resolve things politely and if that fails bring them to me.

PvP: PvP will be freeform, and I understand that disagreements and possibly drama can come from that. The most vital thing to remember is that all characters need to understand they can and will both win and lose.

Godmodding: Please don't Godmode other player's characters without permission, particularly in PvP. With permission in organised situations it's acceptable.

Smut: Smut will be allowed but is not the focus of the game. Due to my personal preferences the game wont be placed in non-con.

Communication: Just try to talk to each other and remain polite and friendly with fellow players. Should be simple enough to follow. Any problems just let me know.

F.A.Q

Why the addition of Bionics and Cybernetics? To add potential character progression and power increase coupled with moral choices. To offer potential variety to old school heroes with minimal powers. And finally to add a potential balancing factor to PvP. Someone like Black Widow might never have stood a chance against a villain like Venom. But, with enough bionic or cybernetic enhancements, she could. The big question is just how much the hero, or villain, is willing to go through.

These characters are reasonably 'Open' for newcomers to take. They may either be any incarnation of the original character cryogenically frozen for several decades, or a new person taking on the equipment/powers/mantle of the past hero. Some of the more powerful examples here will require a good measure of responsibility.

Freedoms:

-Characters may be completely re-imagined. Gender, ethnicity and sexuality can be changed. So long as an aspect of what makes that character themselves remains, and they share the same power set or almost identical powers.
-The hero now may not be the same as the one from the past. Many heroes and villains died during Incident Alpha. Methods of reconstructing those characters, or at least mementos of who they were, were locked away within the vaults. Items such as a radiation chamber designed to replicate the hulk, Captain America's Vibranium shield and outfit or the Venom sybmiote.
-Characters may have been upgraded. This is to give an opportunity to up the power level of certain lower tier characters if they feel too outmatched. This world includes readily available, albeit black market, biological and cybernetic enhancements. These can grant superhuman abilities of various descriptions. For an idea of what can be achieved don't hesitate to ask me. In general the biological enhancements can reach roughly the level an alpha mutant would be.
-Characters do not have to hold their original alignment. This has some limitations. Arguing for a heroic and kind Red Skull will be difficult. Playing Venom as an anti-hero is entirely believable. Anything from the past them having been on a different path to the canon character to them having a drastic change of heart on re-awakening. Even the new person taking up the mantle choosing to use their powers for good. For example a kind hearted young woman finding the titanic Iron Monger armour and choosing to use it to fight crime.

Tiers

So, the first thing to say is that class is not the be-all and end all of a characters power. But it is important to give some clear limitations on the capabilities characters can and cannot have. I have already mentioned powers that are explicitly banned, this will more cover what they can actually handle with their abilities. All tier descriptions will relate to real-world police forces and military as opposed to the ones of 2099.

Novice: These characters have only just begun their heroism or villainy. While they may be experienced in things such as the military, giving them an edge, they are not experienced in the field of superhumans. While they may possess some mild powers these characters are often ordinary humans who train to fight crime. Some stronger characters may very briefly be a novice. These characters may potentially be laid low by a fortunate strike from a single human, and are not well equipped to handle law enforcement head on.

Street: These characters have some experience cleaning up, or dirtying, the streets. They've been in a fair few fights and have honed their skills a little or got more used to their superhuman abilities. However they are far from masters of the craft and still wind up severely injured every now and then while working. They can be badly hurt by an organised enough group of foes, although they will usually overwhelm anything less than at least three opponents. They would not hold up well to law enforcement head on.

Street: These characters have become truly legendary on the backstreets. Not in the public eye much those who spend a lot of time about at night, particularly underground criminals in their neighborhood, will always know their name. They are typically beyond the reach of normal unarmed humans and require expert martial artists, firearms or melee weapons to contend with. Even then they will often require a group of more than a dozen men to even begin feeling confident.

Borough: Elevating a little from the back streets these characters are a little more known. A few people around the city outside their neighborhood will know their name. Sometimes their heroism or villainy will earn them a place in the local papers. They will easily dispatch street thugs or mild law enforcement and primarily focus their attention higher up on things like other heroes or villains. Local law enforcement is unlikely to be able to stop them without calling for backup.

District: Districts in the city of Elysium contain more than ten million citizens. Therefore being a hero on the district scale is somewhat akin to being a hero for the entire of New York city in the present day. These people will be quickly known to millions and have to cover dozens of miles of territory, defending or attacking across a wide area. Ordinary humans are no opposition to them and they can generally dispatch a few dozen armed opponents. They rarely deal with minor crime and focus heavily on combating other superhumans. It is around this level that those without superhuman powers will begin to severely struggle.

City: The city of Elysium has over one hundred million citizens. Being known as a hero or villain to that many people requires more than an ordinary human. They must be more of a living legend than a human being. Their selfless acts or villainous plots must be wide reaching and frequent, purely heroic or utterly diabolical. They must have a great deal of strength and threat, and almost live no life but that of the Superhuman. Almost everybody in this tier will possess superhuman abilities. At this level of power law enforcement would generally require military support to halt the character. They tend to only focus on large scale plots, either hunting down truly evil villains or committing mass atrocities.

Cybernetics & Bionics

This game is set in the distant future. The ability to enhance and upgrade humanity is far in excess of modern reality. These are illegal, and can only be provided by underground traders, dealers and operators. Many of the newer villains and heroes have utilised them to catch up to the newly awakened counterparts from the past. Even some of the older heroes have decided to use them to level the playing field between them and weaker heroes. Certain beings are biologically incapable of receiving enhancements. For example no surgeon is going to be capable of removing the Hulk's arm and replacing it with a cybernetic one. Common sense and logic can usually dictate who can and can't receive upgrades. Another restriction is that a character may take a large quantity of either cybernetic or bionic enhancements, but cannot take both. Due to the severely different surgeries implanting both forms of surgery in the brain requires too many alterations in neural pathing to let the body control the assortment of improvements. Or, in short, it will cause insanity or mania. Even characters sticking to one may begin to question their own humanity or the morality of replacing their physical form with robotics or lab-grown body parts. It can become a question as to how long they remain the same person as neural pathways must be altered to let them utilise the new enhancements.

Bionics

Bionics are organs, limbs, and other body parts either grown in tanks and grafted onto the host, or grown on the host. In general these enhance the already present capabilities of the body. They can be extraordinarily painful but are usually less outwardly obvious, and easier to conceal. They are also not susceptible to EMP's and other abilities that influence electronics. Examples would include additional hormonal glands, chameleonic skin or enhanced pheromone emitters.

Cybernetics

Cybernetics are mechanical parts grafted to the host, allowing them to incorporate machines into their body and interface smoothly with external machines. In general these can be used to achieve things that are entirely impossible by ordinary biology. Examples would include electronic hands with an array of tools akin to a pen knife, or even forearms that incorporate small firearms.

Okay, so this is definitely a very tentative interest check. The world building is mostly fairly solid but I'd love to hear constructive feedback from anyone interested while it's still only in the interest check stage.

Feel free to PM me or post in this thread if you're interested.

Please note I'm not making reservations in this game. If you are interested in a character let me know and get to work on a CS. If multiple people want the same person the CS I think is most fitting will be the one I let in the game.

Thanks

Lothoris

Hello, I am interested in playing venom or sandman. Ill work up a sheet in the near future and get it to you.

BlackStone

Tentative interest.  I have both a female version of Daredevil who is a descendant of the orphan rescued by Daredevil when Mystero tried to drive him crazy.  No powers but a combat armor which mimic Daredevil's abilities.   Also have a descendant of Tony Stark who used armor and cybernetics as well as combat armor who would fit in this setting.

All of this sounds good. Let me know if you've got any questions.

Remember it's just an interest check for now so just listing 'general interest' and mentioning a character you're interested in is good enough for now. Since this game will require a minimum amount of interest to work.

I was thinking maybe a new Spider-Woman or a female Iron Fist.

Though now that I look over that list, a female Venom could be really fun too...
O/O: I was going to make a barebones F-list as a rough summary, but then it logged me out and I lost my progress, so I made a VERY barebones F-list instead: Here.

A female Venom is entirely possible. The list is mostly a suggestion thing, not the be-all-end-all. So other Venom Sybmiotes are a possibility. I think I might take Anti-Venom because I love his aesthetic and I'd like to let a player take Venom.

Bear in mind if multiple people want Symbiotes we've got:

Venom
Carnage
Toxin
Scream
Anti-Venom
Hybrid
Mania
Mayhem
Scorn

I think of those Scorn and Scream definitely have female artwork.

Florence

I was also starting to consider a sort of MILFy X-23, who I imagine is probably still alive and in fighting shape thanks to her healing factor.

But I'm really starting to get cool ideas for a female Venom... So I think I'll go with that.

I'd personally prefer to stick away from X-Men. At the least there's no actual X-Men organisation left at all. And everyone regardless of power level/healing/resilience was put under so being alive and in fighting shape is fine for anyone since they just blacked out decades ago and then woke up 'now'.

Carnage is cool but bear in mind the symbiote itself has a pretty damn strong will power and tends to be very one track minded. Might end up a bit one dimensional to play for long unless the person wearing it really, really fights back. Or you want to play a full on psycho.

Florence

Well, if I'm going with Venom, I was thinking her personality would be sort of selfish, but not entirely evil. She'd probably alternate between anti-hero, being rather ruthless in her dealings with people she feels deserve it, and an anti-villain, having little qualms using the powers of the symbiote for selfish gains, but generally avoiding causing serious injury or death to innocent civilians. Sort of like Catwoman if she had super powers.

If I'm going with Carnage, then I was thinking she might be a little nuts, but not a bad person, really, and struggles with the symbiote as well as her own inner demons, sometimes winning out, at least temporarily, sometimes losing. In that case, she'd probably be more of a sympathetic villain with the occasional heroic moment.

Of course, I suppose I could go with Toxin, who seems to be more of a natural anti-hero type.

Those all sound like the right kind of directions. I put the alignment of hero/villain on the sheet more for would generally be considered/be aiming to be. So anti-heroes would still be listed as heroes just one with some darker intentions.

Awesome.

Anyone who's tentative feel free to throw out anything that'd make you more interested. Since it's early days if several people want the same things then they can happen, I'm not above making adjustments.

Updated to make the rules a bit more relaxed after the first iteration. Also decided to allow X-men and mutants in general without any bias against them.

I'm not getting that. Presumably something to do with an image link but an image link can't possibly cause any issues. That and the only image links are either just media caches or artstation so I don't see how any of them can be an issue.

And it's up to you.

Is it possible to play a hero who has survived all this time, and comes out of retirement so to speak once the vault is reopened?

The original plan was to have everyone having been 'KO'd by the initial incident. But I think it's possible that someone was badly injured but managed to conceal themselves and then chose to retire when there were no villains left to fight. If that works?

That'd be fine, since he has like 4 hidden labs/homes he could hide out at and recuperate.

Canon.

Blue Marvel. I figured since he's basically an Anti-Matter generator/reactor, his physiology was unique enough to allow him to survive the virus. He went into solitude again(like he'd done the first time) since no one that he could find was left.

Blue Marvel's way, way over the power level I was planning for this game. I don't think there's any way he'd function without curbstomping basically everyone else. The only villains on his level aren't really ones who suit being PC's, so he'd wind up instantly unrivaled.

Well I could do Colossus then, as he doesn't age in his steel form. He could've just stayed armored up if he survived. Or I might have him be a reborn. Not sure, but I'll probably be doing Colossus regardless. Hahah.

Yeah that could work. I think Colossus armoured up is resilient enough to have stuck around. Reborn is good too though since I imagine the small town Russian woke up in a place like this would have a hell of an adjustment period.

It's not that I have an issue with Blue Marvel as a character or anything. It'd just be a disservice to 'nerf' him down to the equal of the other PC's available. And he's pretty crazy.

It's totally cool. I just really like him as a character. He would have to be brought down though, as there's no Thor, Hulk, etc... type guys on there so having Marvel would kinda be unfair.

My problem was that as it's a PvP setting it's either let in the big leagues (Thor, Hyperion, Ghost Rider, Blue Marvel, Sentry, Hulk and a few others) and then jam in villain counterparts or keep them all out.

Keeping them in would mean that the players using those 'big leagues' characters would basically just be fighting each other forever since, for example, Blue Marvel Vs. Venom is going to be incredibly one sided.

So I figured pushing it more towards the low-mid tier made more sense.

Daredevil

BASIC INFO
Name: Karen Cross
Codename/Nickname/Aliases: Daredevil, Agent 48
Alignment: Superhero
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Occupation: Special Agent of SHIELD
Tier: Street
Place of Birth: New Haven
Citizenship: American

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 130
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Blue
Faceclaim: Adrianne Palicki
General Appearance: Commanding posture making the most out of her 5'10" height as she can.  Her hair is a dirty blond which she normally wears up when in uniform to present a more professional appearance.  Professional work place attire is her normal wardrobe when she does not need to be in any form uniform.  There is a bit of a wild steak to Karen as she does have a tattoo of ancient Celtic knot work at the small of her back, as well as piercings in both navel and her nipples.  She does her best when out in public to wear clothing to hide the fact, which at times can make things...complicated for her.  In her Daredevil armor, Karen's posture is a bit more cocksure, almost flippant, yet with command confidence in every move.

SKILLS/ADVANTAGES/EQUIPMENT

SKILLS:

  • Engineering: Karen possesses a master's level education in Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering
  • Law Enforcement: Karen is skilled in modern law enforcement processes and protocol
  • Forensic Science: Karen is considered skilled with crime scene investigations
  • Martial Arts: Karen is skilled in hand to hand combat
  • Weapon Skill: Karen is skilled with the three configurations that the billy club can be configured into in melee combat
  • Marksman: Karen is a marksman with modern small firearms
  • Gymnastics: Karen is a skilled gymnast

ADVANTAGES:
Eidetic Memory: Either by mutation or rare skill, Karen has perfect recall of anything she had ever read or heard.  However, she does not have unlimited memory and found that unless she made an effort, anything longer ten years in the past is difficult to recall.

EQUIPMENT:
Daredevil Armor: Karen took a standard issue urban combat armor from SHIELD and modified it into enhanced combat armor that duplicated the abilities of Daredevil as best as she could that was documented.   The armor has the following abilities.

  • Damage Resistance: Made from a carbon composite and titanium try weave, the armor is the best mix of protection and flexibility.  The armor as such can give Karen protection from the penetrating power of even military grade weapons up to 50 caliber and plasma energy blasts.  While the armor does it best to spread out the kinetic energy of such impacts, it is still possible to generate a sufficient impact to bruise Karen under the armor.
  • Combat Computer: This feature duplicated fairly well Daredevil's "Radar Sense"  The combat computer functions as the 360 degree detection suit that is able to flag and identify locations and potential threats to Karen.  The range of this system is good out to three hundred yards, leaving Karen potentially vulnerable to ranged threats and weapons with a range greater than three hundred yards.
  • Forensic Suite: This feature of the Daredevil armor duplicated to the best of Karen's ability the heightened senses that Daredevil possessed.  When activated, the armor is able to gather other sensory input through sophisticated sensors and translated that into date that can be displayed to Karen.  With this feature activated, Karen can record the heartbeats, read the ink on old printed text, break down the chemical compounds to their base elements and molecules.  The range of this feature is limited to one hundred yards, and when activated, an attack targeted to overload the armor's sensors will trigger fail safes to kick in and shut down the senor package and the combat computer and force a reboot of both systems, a process that takes up to a minute.

Combat Club: A near duplicate of Daredevil's famous "Billy Club".  Like the original, the club is constructed of carbon composites and titanium, making it fairly durable.  It can be separated and contains in it a five hundred pound test weight cable.  One end of the cable can he launched up to the length of the cable, which is fifty feet.  When used as ranged weapon, the end of the club hits with enough force to knock a two hundred pound person off their feet.  Karen can very the length of the cable to configure the club into different weapons.

  • Escrima Staff
  • Nunchuks
  • Chain Whip (Jiujiebian)

HISTORY,PERSONALITY & FLAWS

HISTORY: Karen grew up listening to the stories from her grandmother, stories of heroes, of people willing to put themselves on the line and sacrifice.  The one hero that Karen's grandmother, who was also named Karen, spoke about the most was Daredevil.  Of all of the heroes of her time before the Sentinel War, Daredevil was the one she spoke about and respected the most.  It was in part of bias, for the elder Karen's adopted parents told her that Daredevil had saved Karen as a baby.   Karen's mother was killed by a villain named Mystero, and Karen herself used in an effort to drive Daredevil insane.  Like heroes do, Daredevil thwarted Mystero, and rescued Karen.  As such, the elder Karen avidly followed the hero's life and career.   The scrap books she made were one of the possessions that Karen's grandmother passed down to her.

It was those stories that inspired Karen.  She managed to get herself accepted to the Academy.  It was the proudest day of her life when she graduated and became an Agent of SHIELD.  For three years, it was everything that Karen could had dreamed and hoped for, she was there, stationed in Elysium City, the new headquarters of SHIELD.  It was after that time that things began to sour for Karen, and she began to grow disillusioned with SHIELD, and the government.

It began when there was a rise of street level crime over the years.  Karen was on patrol at the time and asked for permission to investigate.  She was denied, citing that her current operation was more important.  Karen was merely back up security to a Senator that was eating at his favorite restaurant in the city.  Karen tried as much as she could, but she was denied, and cited for insubordination.  Karen later found out that some new gang group calling themselves the Goblins had run rampant through the neighborhood, and that twenty people were killed.  Karen again raised the issue with her superiors and was told point blank that due to the limited manpower and resources, they could not spare the people she was asking for.

Karen almost resigned that day, but after she calmed down, she realized her position in SHIELD was the best resource the people had.  It was during this period of hot rage to cold rationalization that if SHIELD was unable and unwilling to anything, that Karen had too.  However, she needed to do so in such a way as to not jeopardize her position in SHIELD.  Her eyes went to the scrapbooks, and an idea formed.  For the next several months, Karen acquired the materials to create a powered set of armor that mimicked Daredevil's abilities as best as she could.  Now when she can, Daredevil prowls Elysium City, bringing the legend that was Daredevil back in the world once more.

PERSONALITY: Karen is a driven and passionate person who cares above all else in protecting people.  She also is young and full of frustration.  She had seen the law fall short, or fail to protect those that are truly in need.  She has been outspoken of the government's lack of support the general populace at the street level, and with the sudden increase of super villains, she is not one to sit back and do nothing.  At her core, Karen is a loyal person, and as a result, she is deeply conflicted that her views and her profession to not line up.  It is that reason why she created the Daredevil armor, to fill in the gaps where the law and government were unable, or unwilling to help those that she sees are in need.

CHARACTER FLAWS:

  • Without the Daredevil armor and combat club, Karen is a normal human that engages in vigorous athletic exercise
  • Karen has a temper, and when her views or authority is challenged, she can and often looses her cool, much to her determent.  It can also cause her to act rashly in combat and not think through the possible outcomes, making her at times, predictable

I'm interested and wanted to ask about the state of magic in the game... had the thought of someone who 'finds'/is guided to the regalia of Earth's Sorcerer Supreme... would end up being a beginner Sorcerer... with a destiny.

If that's too powerful, I'll come up with something else. I just liked the notion of rediscovering magic in a sci-fi setting.

A beginning sorcerer could be possible. I think Dr. Strange has probably retaken the mantle of Sorceror Supreme post waking up. Characters like Dr. Strange/Thor/Hulk/Sentry/Hyperion etc. are all NPC's who do exist. Just a bit too high tier to be involved in the PvP style setup.

@Blackstone

I'll fully check through the sheet but initially: No villains have operated from 2022 - 2099. So I think the timeline's off on Mysterio killing her mother.

A thought just occurred to me, given that info Sun, could I play someone who 'inherits' Sister Grimm's Staff of the One. I'm thinking one of the cops who investigated the Hero Vault accidentally touched it and something about her (she could be a descendant of Nico Minoru's had it bond with her). This could start her on a hero's path and set her to investigating magic.

Could a character like this work?

I'll edit and have it be a great grandmother and the stories could had been handed down.

I like this idea. The concept I want to bring to the game is “The Punisher,” but it won’t be Jacob Gallows (I’ll more than likely make him the leader of the group). I am more of a fan of Frank Castle. So, this is my idea. There were many Punishers that rose up to try to combat the rise in villains and crime. The Punishers, however, were unstable and their once vigilant aspirations and goals became extremist and terroristic in nature. With the original Punisher’s War Journal, they created a twisted code of ethics and creed. They started to take justice into their own hands believing themselves to be the true judges; in fact, Judges is what they’d call themselves. All villains (deemed so in their eyes) would go through The Court of Punishment or The Punishment Court.

Jillian Wong, a former Judge turned SHIELD agent, informed the agency about The Punishment Court’s bread and butter, The Punisher’s War Journal. Although there were many copies warped, reproduced, and distributed to all Judges, Jillian Wong retained the original copy. The author, Francis Castiglione, The Original Punisher…the SHIELD agents wondered what happened to him. In their investigation, they consulted Alchemax, the ones responsible for releasing the heroes and they learned that Frank Castle’s capsule had been exiled to a research station in space by the name of the Alchemic Science and Research Station (ASARS/Ey-Sah-R-s). The Punisher had not been released like the other heroes. His violence in the past made his allegiance questionable. If they had released him, what would have stopped The Punisher from joining The Punishment Court as their leader? To SHIELD’s perspective, The Punisher could be turned against The Punishment Court.

ASARS was tasked with awakening Frank Castle, but not as The Punisher. He was to be awakened as Justice.

That’s the basic idea in a nut shell. I plan for The Punisher to be like Terminator, Major, Armitage, etc. He doesn’t remember who he is, but gradually he remembers as he pursues his enemies. He eventually breaks away as he would have any way in a lone wolf fashion, taking justice into his own hands yet still taking down The Punishment Court. Because Frank Castle has always done things “his” way.

Definitely workable. I think the only real deal with magic is to make sure it doesn't start to feel too limitless.

I really like the Frank Castle punisher too so I'm all on board with that plan.

This Punisher court would've only had a few weeks to form, so far. At least if they started with the original journal. Maybe if they started as something similar and then took on the journal after the vault of heroes was opened? But it's believable that their codes became corrupt very quickly so I think that's workable either way.

Overall I like the character.

Hey people

Sorry about this but I'm going to have to put this interest check on hold/ice indefinitely. I'm having some personal issues in real life despite having a very open schedule. Thought I'd be able to take on running more and I really wanted to see this idea come about. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to have the time to devote to making it run as I'd like it to.

Thank you for interest,

If anyone has any interest in GM'ing something like this and wants to borrow from any of this interest check just PM me.

Sorry again, but I think this is a necessary decision to avoid giving a game that doesn't live up to expectations/hopes.
