Sent again...let me know when you have it.  I'll get into the game probably tomorrow.  I've got to get to bed early tonight.

Caela

Christa, I am going to let a few more people get their intro's posted before Lily responds to Arysa. Just don't want you to think I didn't notice. :)

No problem. :) And it doesn't have to be a scene between the two of them. Someone can interrupt or Lily can say she's busy. I just figured it was better than wandering and hoping someone would talk to her...lol. :)

Dirigible

I've had my eye on this game for a while, and the high quality of many of the posts I've seen so far has drawn me in. Character sheet incoming!

Dirigible

Played by: Dirigible

Name: Jonah Haze
Race: Human (genetically enhanced).
Age: 44.
Consortium Occupation: Fleet escort, captain of the Osprey.
Consortium Rank: As the captain of the ship that flies outrider to the Vengeance, Haze holds a high rank and position near Seradin's inner circle, as they liaise frequently on tactical operations.

Skill Set:
Ship To Ship Combat: Haze excels at close range 'knife fighting' in corvettes and frigates, though he's more or less lost with larger hull classes. He's not much good at artillery duels or flag-level strategy, but when it comes to high speed manoeuvres and high-impact strikes right up under the target's gun ports he's one of the best in the sector.
Gutter Fighting: In personal combat he's much the same way – he's no believer in a fair fight. His motto is to make the first blow painful and messy enough that there's no need for a second.
Intelligence Training: As a CONIS deep-cover agent, Haze has been extensively trained in SIG and SAPINT gathering and analyisis, deception, infiltration and cryptography. It's kept him alive, but he's constantly amazed at how little ivory tower espionage training counts for in the cess-pit of the galaxy that is the Scarus Sector.

Character History:
Born and raised in a teeming arcocology world in the heart of Confederate space, Jonah Haze joined the navy to get some elbow room. He eventually graduated from crewman to officer training, where he received top marks for tenacity and innovation, but lost out on discipline and protocol. This was just the kind of psych profile CONIS (Confederate Office of Naval Intervention and Strategy) was looking for in an agent they needed for a long term, high risk mission: infiltrate the Red Corsair Consortium. Rumour was circulating of a major pirate incursion in the making, and CONIS wanted someone in the middle of it to gather intelligence... and take direct action if need be. The newly-minted Lieutenant Haze was pulled out of the officer pool and giving special briefings and training in preparation for his role, then assigned as the first mate on the shakedown cruise of an experimental warship, the Osprey.

As planned, Haze lead a mutiny aboard the Osprey and ran up the black IFF beacon – turning pirate. He and his co-conspirators dumped the captain and loyal crew in lifepods and set course for the Scarus Sector. For several years Haze ran his ship around the ass-end of space, working as a mercenary, a convoy guard for Thracian corporations, privateering against alien powers from outside the Confederation's sphere and doing a little freelance raiding.

How did the Red Corsair hear about and recruit you?:
Eventually word reached Seradin of a notorious independent pirate making a name in the Sector, and he resolved to hunt him down. The Vengeance and Osprey played cat and mouse (or rather sabre-toothed tiger and mouse) in an comet belt called the Graves of Tanis for several days, and apparently the Red Corsair was satisfied enough with Haze's skills to want him watching his back and flying escort for the dreadnought.

Personality:
Haze's navy file notes him as stubborn, insubordinate, intuitive and prone to decisive viciousness, if not outright cruelty. The rough life of a pirate suits him far more than military dress uniforms and by the book battleplans – indeed, sometimes he worries about how much he likes the freedom and brutal honesty of the corsair's code. Still, the constant barrage of theft, murder and slavery grates on his basic moral core, and he's glad that the Osprey's role is picketting and escort, not raiding and boarding so he doesn't have to see too much of it first hand. He regards Seradin and most of his henchmen as absolute monsters, and looks forward to the day they break against the Confederacy's fleet – laid low by intel he provided, hopefully.

Species Information - Enhanced Human:
Haze has the standard Confederacy military 'genetic bootcamp' – a whole-genome tune up to make him a better soldier. This includes higher muscle strength and efficiency; boosted stamina and the ability to defer sleep for up to four times as long as a normal person; augmented hand-eye coordination and visual acuity; an inner ear adapted to weightlessness; stem cell reservoirs in the bone marrow to promote slightly faster and more complete healing; and resistance to genetic damage from the radiation endemic to space.

Additional Information:
Haze's preferred personal weapon is a large-caliber gyrojet pistol. He likes the added firepower for dealing with hard targets like assault armour and krogan, and the size of the gun and its hull-penetrating potential usually scares the crap out of mooks before they pick a fight. He wears a knee length greatcoat with a carbon-fibre weave for protection, and has a belt with a personal shield generator.

Ship:
The XCH-0F1 Osprey

Hull: Experimental corvette.
Crew Compliment: 15.
Armament: Electromagnetic flux annulus, kinetic harpoons.
Fighter Compliment: Decoy buoys only.
Known Operational Capacity: Close-in harassment, flagship screening, distraction and shield attenuation.
Area of Operation: Alongside the Vengeance or scouting.

The Osprey is an odd bird. Fast but lightly shielded, she relies on speed, ECM and decoys to stay alive while darting in an out of knife-fighting range, nipping at her target's heals. She mounts an experimental weapon, the EFA: an enormous ring-shaped electromagnetic array that dominates the toroidal midsection of the ship and generates a staggeringly powerful flux bubble. This flux absolutely shreds the shields of any ship in very close proximity – even the most hardened military shields get torn down in three or four passes, and civilian deflectors rarely survive one pass. Once the target is naked the Osprey is meant to unleash its kinetic harpoons to smash them to pieces, but since joining the Consortium Haze has barely had to fire them... with their shields down, most targets take one look at the Vengeance's main batteries and surrender at once.

Ons & Offs: As per Here.

Aah! Dirigible!

*hugs tightly*

Just so everyone knows, I've gotten a lot of help for this game from him, and I've been asking him to join since the beginning, but he doesn't usually join group games. So...yay! And unless Vos or Kdyami object, I say you're approved. :)

Vostroya

Looks good to me. Just know that the Corsair is a very smart man...

Dirigible

Awesome. And sure, I picked the background for the intrigue potential... just so long as he doesn't get godmodded/Sherlock Holmes'd by Seradin deducing he's a spy based on a speck of dirt on his boot or something :)

Vostroya

Nah, the big plans are way off into the future, there will be plenty of intrigue to come!

seeing this game has finally started, it sparked my interest once more. Going to make a character now, althugh it might be a complete non-humanoid one

Well couldn't find any artwork of a non-humanoid species I found interesting. Working on something else then.

Would a slave trader fall under the 'slaver' tag, as it sound more like a trainer then someone who captures them?

Still working on this, but warm weather keeps me distracted. Just need to fix his skills and finish the species description.

Work In Progress

Played by: Kimera

Name: Vre'ax
Race: Primordian
Age: Unknown (see race)
Occupation: Slave Trader
Rank: Captain

Skills:

  • Psionics:As a Primordian, Vre'ax possesses extremely powerful psionic powers.
  • Geneticist: Over the eons, Vre'ax began to show an interest in the genetics of other species, if only to determine how inferior they were. Experimenting and genetic manipulation are no taboo for this individual and he has comitted countless attrocities.
  • :

Character History: Spanning countless eons, most of Vre'ax history is unknown. Vre'ax is the last Primordian. While the others of his race found a way to transend to a higher form of life, Vre'ax was forced back, banished from the higher plane because the attrocities he comitted in the past. His punishment would be trapped in a physical form, unfased by time.

Vre'ax spends most of his life in hiding in the darkest reaches of the universe, only emerging from time to time when he feels the time is right.

After his last hibernation, Vre'ax found much has changed to the galaxy as he knew it. A new insignificant species had managed to become a dominant power, uniting a large portion of species under one federation.

For the moment he deals in the slavers trade, a business that yields some profit and an ideal way to collect genetic material.

Personality: Cold, merciless, evil are words that best describe the nature of this aliens twisted mind. Vre'ax has no regards to any life except his own, deeming any other species inferior and nothing more then tools and stock to be used, manipulated and sold for his own benefit.

He loves dominating others, using his psionics, tail and hands to torment them. He takes sadistic pleasure in breaking individuals while connecting to their minds, experiencing the pleasures his victims feel.

How did you come to the Scarus Sector?: Being one of the cesspits of the galaxy, the Scarus Sector is an ideal location to sell slaves.

What are your characters plans?: For the moment Vre'ax is keeping a low profile, preferring to stay in the shadows for now. His hand might not be great right now, but it does not matter. In a century or two, the mayor players will change and then he might be the one holding the most favorable cards.

Additional Information:

  • Bio-ship:Vre'ax choise of transportation is a massive leviathan, an organic vessel of his own design. Although it outclasses most ships in size and speed given its bulk, the fact it isn't designed solely for combat, it lacks in firepower.

Being a living entity, the ship requires no additional crew to opperate, relying solely on Vre'ax telepathic commands to tell it where to go. Instead of shields it relies on thick armored skin capable of regenerating over time.

Species Information:

Not much is known about Vre'ax species, as they have left the galaxy for eons upon eons.

Primordians are probably the oldest species in the universe, evolving to their peak when Earth was still struggling to spawn its first unicellular lifeform. They wield a powerful array of psionic abilities and communicate solely by telepathy.

Primordians possess any form of genetic material. With no cellular death, genetic degradation or programmed celldeath, the species reached a point of immortality. The downside of this was that the species no longer was capable of reproduction, making their numbers static. It is believed their bodies are maintained and repaired by the individuals own psionic abilities, restructuring its molecular structure back to its original configuration.

Spawned on an extremely hostile world, the species had to adapt to great extremes. Although only semi-organic in nature, a primordians skin texture closely matches those of amphibians. The skin is highly adaptive to its environment and its inorganic components make it quite durable like armor. They are able to survive in a wide variaty of envirmonments, even the vaccuum of space. How exactly this is possible, is unknown, but speculation suggests by the same method used to restore their bodies.
