DC Execs had the showrunners of Harley Quinn Season 3 remove a scene of Batman eating out Catwoman because 'heroes don't do that.' I think we can all probably agree that if Batman/Bruce Wayne is ANYTHING it's not a selfish lover; and that Wonder Woman did not give up all the pleasures of Themyskira for a guy who doesn't reciprocate. Thoughts?

I'm balancing a couple of things here.  One is that the series is animated - what exactly is the audience?  (Yes, I know, not all animation is for kids.  This is why I ask.)  If the audience includes minors, then sex in general (selfish or otherwise) is going to be better off 'hinted' rather than depicted on-screen.  Harley looks a little on the teenage scale.

Another is the hero x villianess dynamic.  Did Catwoman have a redemption arc, or is she still a thief with some redeeming qualities?  Are Selena and Bruce doing that thing where he tries not to catch her?  'Cause that's a little awkward on the 'hero selling points' scale as well.  Would it be more acceptable if he was going down on Diana?  (They've had a thing going on before, as I recall.)

Harley Quinn really focuses on the eponymous character and is fairly raunchy. One of the main characters ends up in her own particular group of outcasts because he got caught being misogynistic to his wife and calling Wonder Woman a c*nt on national television. So yeah, it would've been entirely within HBO Max's target audience. I haven't seen the first two seasons in a minute, but Damian's around so I'm pretty sure they're past that point.

I for one am glad they removed it. That's just inappropriate. If they want to make DC porn then they should go to pornhub or somewhere and make DC porn it shouldn't be included in the Harley Quinn series. If they had left it I would have dumped the show the moment that scene started.

That was kind of the angle on my questions - was it the 'generous lover' bit that they had problems with, the 'lover of a villain' bit - or the gratuitous sex scene?  There are ways to show a character is a 'generous lover' without actually showing the act.  Like, Bruce bringing Selena breakfast in bed, with her still looking a little disheveled (implying that she had a really good time.)

Guess it's okay for villains like Harley and Ivy to have sex with each other like the filthy, immoral, femme-sluts they are, but good guy Batman? No, he only goes on dates and kisses, no sex before marriage. (Even though in the comics he's surely banged tons of women and even got one pregnant.)

The toy line is probably a cover up. Probably some crusty exec that is grossed out by going down on women.

I'm guessing you haven't heard about the infamouse sex scene between Batman and Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) in the movie adaptation of the Killing Joke?

I actually went and looked that up on YouTube.  There's a shot of Batgirl removing her top (not her bra) and then it pans away to a gargoyle.  Sex is implied, not shown.  For all the implication, there is nothing there that would qualify as NSFW.  The headlines I've seen about the Harley Quinn scene state that 'Zach Snyder shares NSFW picture...' - which suggests (I haven't found the actual shot yet) that there's considerably more shown than merely implied.

The Harley Quinn animated series is terrific and I would recommend it. I didn't expect to like it, Harley Quinn being my least favorite character, and it launched right after Swamp Thing was canceled and Doom Patrol was cut short, so bitter grapes- but it won me over such that I'm now looking forward to the comic book spinoff.

Maybe it's just me, but Bats actually looks very angry in that picture - in the manner of 'I wouldn't offer my soft underbelly to that face' levels of angry.  It wouldn't take much to alter that pic into a very different situation and I wouldn't have to touch either of the facial expressions.

That picture has such strange implications. For one, Batman is fully suited...at least from the waist up.
