Sherona

There are things in this world that many do not believe in. Things in this world that many would rather pretend that they are fairy tales, camp fire stories. There are things in this world that most of the beings that have inhabited this place called Earth, have seen and felt, but refuse to believe they have.

Here in this little corner of the world, these things congregate, waiting, writhing, calling out to whoever dares enter. A fog that permanently shrouds the area, a general sense of forboding keeps most Humans out, but occasionally, when the Beings have enough luck, one stumbles in. That is when all of the fun, for the Beings, begin.

Trees rose up around the girl, giving her the appearance of being small and highly insignicant compared to all their natural beauty. Stretching to the heavens were their limbs, stretching higher and higher, with every right their glory bestowed upon them.
The thick smell of decaying leaves, moist dirt and pure life saturated the woods, seeping into Jode and lightening her spirit as well as her step. She wore grass stained jeans, torn in places and obviously old, as were her hiking boots, in dire need of reapair, and her light green tee. A navy blue jaked was tied around her waist, and a small satchel slung over her shoulder.
The woods music flitted about her ears, as well as the birds that fluttered about and the small creatures that scurried past. A bubbly giggle escaped the young woman as a squirrel scurried after a much smaller one, who had most likely been digging up the firsts nuts.

Suddenly, Jode startled, spinning round and straining her ears. A sound very much unlike what she was used to had echoed throughout  her area of the woods; but when it didn't sound again, Jode shook her head and continued on.
She had been walking along an old wood-cutters path that she had found a few years back, and which had become her favourate of all the tracks, and she lowered her head when she reached the more trechorous part, to ensure she didn't trip. Lifting her head once she passed it, hoping to find herself standing before a small clearing she often stopped to rest in, Jode was greeted by a light fog. Frowning, she flicked her misbehaving, chocolate brown fringe from her eyes, muttering.
"What the hell?"

The Fog swirls along low to the ground, hiding anything from view ankle high and lower. The bright sunny skies were darkening quickly, too quickly. Through the fog came a being, short, so short that it could easily have been mistaken for a dwarf or perhaps a young child. Yet its flesh was as wrinkled as any wizened woman, as rough as the bark of an old tree.

Its eyes, assuming it had eyes, were nothing but deep black holes where eyes would presumably be....yet it moved with a shuffling gait, and its motions were calm and not agitated. It reaches a branch-like arm upwards and beckons her "Jodeeeeeeee.....Heeeelppp usssss..." An echoing of the voice as soft as down filled the air.

Trickster

As the tendrils of fog stretched its distorted fingers towards her, Jode found her lower legs encased in the swirling mass. She stumbled forward warily, her stare darting about fervently, like that of a startled deer. The young woman's heart double in speed, beating wildly against her rib cage as she continued to stumble forward, as if drawn, before coming to a sudden halt when her gaze landed upon the wizened woman... child... thing... - whatever it was, it caused Jode to stop and stare.

As the echoing voices flitted to her ears, some movement filled Jode, and she stumbled forward further into the mist, approaching the child-like, yet wizened, woman.
