After a little bit of playing around with the beginning of the first book of Jade Regent, a lot of talking with various people and thinking, I'd like to re-search for a GM to run Jade Regent for me. Instead of a solo rp though, I'm looking for a small group game. I'm thinking three PC's at most, considering the system is a little GMPC-interaction-heavy, leading to plenty of opportunities to swap in NPC's to help things out. Anyone who knows a bit about Jade Regent knows that it's supposed to be a lot of traveling, NPC interaction, and dungeon delving . .  and that's just awesome to me. So yeah, this is me looking for a flexible GM who doesn't have problems with tweaking or changing things up in the adventure path to keep things rolling or interesting, and two other possible PC's to have funsies. Definately wouldn't be a first-come first-serve thing for the possible PC's, of course.

With the disappearance of a few DMs recently, I'd be open to a new game to invest my time and energy into if we can find someone to run it :-)

Omai :-O

If this is going to take off, could someone fill me in on the background? What kind of characters, where do we start, and so on? Is there a player's guide I should give a read-through?

EDIT: Found it.

Muse

This looks like a fun adventure path.

Got room for another?

Hmm, I like what I've seen of the Jade Regent AP, so pending a bit more information from the DM, I'm tentatively intrigued!

Boop! Blinkin, keep in mind that we don't start out with caravan-ing. We start out with hanging out around Sandpoint and hunting goblins, so there's no real rumors of heading off on a trip or anything. Also, normally yes it requires four characters, but we have access to plenty of DMPC's like Ameiko and stuff. Also Autocad might want to use a DMPC of her own designs! Thus my requested player limit. Anyways, we'll see who gets picked in the end and go with that yeah?

But yeah, standard character creation Autocad? Dicey dice, unless the dice super suck, then point buy? Level 1?

So, here're the application and character creation rules:

1) The group consists of me as DM (possibly running an NPC or DMPC, who might be swapped out for another NPC as necessary, to accompany the other three party members), Latooni, and two other players, for a 4-person party. The two players will be chosen by Latooni, so all death threats bribes go her way, not mine.  O:)

2) Paizo-published sources only. If it isn't on d20pfsrd (maybe like some of the latest books), I might not have easy access to it. It doesn't mean it's not allowed, but you shouldn't assume I have it memorized.

3) The Jade Regent Player's Guide is recommended reading, and it's a free download, so no excuses.

4) I'm assuming that you aren't here for the awesome caravan rules, so the caravan portion will be handwaved over. Let me know if you feel otherwise...

5) Your level 1 character should hail from Sandpoint or nearby, and have ambitions larger than a small sleepy town like Sandpoint can fulfill, so you'll jump on board when the chance to hit the road presents itself.

6) Like what Latooni said, Sandru Vhiski owns a caravan, but usually sticks to relatively safe routes and nearby destinations, so there're no real rumours of any trip to new and exotic lands (yet!).

7) Race: follow rule #2 above. Besides the usual inhabitants of Avistan, there is also an eastern-themed option for flavour. Some of the citizens of Sandpoint come from Minkai (fantasy Japan) originally, having immigrated from the other continent several generations ago. The real-world analogue would be Japanese-Americans. Anyways, the point is that these guys will be third- or fouth-generation Minkans, and have integrated into Varisian culture, but they can also retain enough of their native heritage to provide background for playing an eastern-themed class like samurai or ninja, and they can also have Japanese Minkan names. For example, Ameiko Kaijitsu.

8) Class: follow rule #2 above. As mentioned above, this is the chance to play an eastern-themed class while being entirely consistent with the setting. It's not necessarily, but it's an option.

9) Ability scores: choose one of the methods below (before racial modifiers):
Method A: Roll 4d6 drop lowest six times and distribute the stats as you wish.
Method B: Get one free 18, then for the others roll 3d6 five times and distribute the stats as you wish.

10) Languages: Tien is available as a bonus language (through high intelligence modifier or taking a rank in Linguistics) to everyone. Although it is mostly for flavour and usefulness in the campaign proper is not guaranteed. No, characters of Minkan descent don't get it for free (see Japanese-American above).

11) Traits: 2 traits, one and only one of which must be a campaign trait from the Jade Regent Player's Guide. Try not to have the same campaign trait as other players.

12) Drawbacks / fancy ways to get additional traits or feats / etc.: not allowed.

13) HP: maximum at first level.

13) Starting wealth: average for class.

Wow, the dice rolled up exactly 20 point buy worth of stats. That's pretty annoying :x

edit: Btw, I'm making the world's worst rogue, just to let you guys know. :3

Have the Players Guide download link?

As for my rolls I have a bit of a typical spread almost but can work with them: 7, 11, 11, 12, 13, 16.

Ehr mah gerd, it's a Wargtass!

I knooo, rite? It looks like the planets have aligned once more and the Great One appears again... UwU

On a more serious note, I have seriously never tried a Bard OR Fighter for Pathfinder, so that could be very interesting.

Have them fight to the death for you amusement? Also, the Fighter only has two pages dedicated to it in the book! How have I not tried out this no-fuzz class before?   ;D

Omg, 11, 14, 9, 11, 15, 15! Worst Fighter ever, ignore this idiot, 0/10, send back to school! :V

Just want to make sure that I understand things. You, the GM, are going to be playing a PCish character as well as 4 intrical NPCs?

Don't worry, there're more than just those 4 big NPCs in this game. One-off NPCs, new traveling companions to recruit, villains, and so on!  ;)

Muse

Well, if Blinkin doesn't want to p lay his Magus, let me see if I can get one together.

Prboably a staff magus or dancer of blades if i can get the roll I want.

But if we're short a less generalized roll, let me know.

The four default NPCs are bard, ranger, rogue and cleric, so they can be slotted in as necessary to round out the party for the appropriate environment. (Ranger in wilds, rogue in urban, etc.) Not to mention custom DMPC NPCs to fill in any specific niches that are lacking.

And if there's a concept you really want that needs a very specific ability score distribution, we can always talk and come to an... arrangement.

Wargtass

Sooo, taking tha Human Race would actually equalize the suckitude of my piss-poor rolls to 9, 11, 11, 14, 15, 17. Also the idea of a mediocre warrior being drawn into an adventure bigger than his own capacity. I for one embrace my shitty dice! :V

17, 15, and 14 in physical stats ain't bad for a Fighter you know?

I dunno about you guys, but the Halberd looks awesome now. I am not sure if it has always been this good or what,  but damn son, that's one fine polearm. If I could find a way to combine it with a tower shield it would be a really nice defensive setup. Brace and trip in a P or S with 1d10 damage and x3 critical though? I'd totally sacrifice a shield for that...

But yeah, human fighter, two-handed focused with standard setup of Power Attack and Cleave to begin with. Haven't looked through the campaign traits yet, but I'll get something appropriate to go with it.

As for the character itself? Uhm, awkward former watchman turned adventurer perhaps. What alignments are we aiming for?
O/O

Latooni Subota

Well, definately on the Good end of the scale, I'd say. Not that a clever as fuck Lawful Evil couldn't work . . . but there's a higher chance of things going poorly, you know?
