The Bastet Project

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

— William Blake, The Tyger

Overview

The Bastet Project will be a guided group game, where players will create characters that take part in a government sponsored adventure (read: out with the unwanteds). The setting takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, specifically set in the year 2034, where humans have discovered the existence of the supernatural: Werecats. Where we start our story, humans and werecats have long since come to an agreement that it is more beneficial for them to work together within their new circumstances than war continuously against each other.

After all, there are more threats out there in the world than each other. At the start of the story, selected members, from various races within the Werecats and across different territories, have been selected to gather for an important mission. Despite being fairly comfortable, humans are ready to reclaim the West and they want the Werecats to spearhead the project. We are currently on Day 2 of the project. Tension is abound within the selected members.

Will they survive or die in the harsh wilderness of the West?

Important Details

  • Flower will be your Game Master while Kokaine will be your Co-Game Master. Despite this fact, we encourage you as participants of the story to submit ideas, suggestions, and concerns to us. Most of the group games we have participated in encouraged contributions from its writers and ended up being successfully as a result. However, please understand not all of your ideas will be accepted. They will be evaluated to determine if it is fitting for the setting and overall plot.
  • If categorized, the game could possibly fit nicely into a few categories such as fantasy, post-apocalyptic, and then finally drama. The Bastet Project will be played in the Extreme Section of Elliquiy. With that said, no writer will try to coerce you into writing elements that you are not comfortable with. If such happens, please inform the Game Masters, and the situation will be taken care of accordingly.
  • Ladies, Lieges, and Lords are all welcome to participate in this roleplay. Additionally, cross-gender writing is acceptable. It will be ideal if all participating writers did not find this distasteful. All sexualities are welcome as well. However, I do advise writers to pay attention to the sexual orientation of other characters. We do not want someone to feel left out if there is no corresponding sexuality for romantic pairings for their character.
  • Sometimes a nice, steamy sex scene is necessary within a roleplay. We understand this. However, too much smut will quickly become boring. There is only so many ways to write riding a cock before it becomes boring. That said, we are seeking to have a balance of both smut and plot.
  • Writers will be permitted to create one character at the start of the roleplay. If the roles are not filled before the start of the game, writers will be given the option to create a second character.

The Feline Races

Leopard (Bagheera)

Lion (Simba)

Jaguar (Balam)

Tiger (Khan)

Cheetah (Swara)

Puma (Pumonca)

Werecats possess inhuman physical strength, speed, reflexes, and etcetera. Some core abilities remain in place between Werecats such as it would be difficult to beat a Cheetah (Swara) in a foot race. Other skills include the ability to turn humans into werecats via bite. However, such is looked on disdainfully by both humans and some werecats who do not believe in the intermixing of blood. If a werecat forces the bite on a human, it is punishable by death or life imprisonment. They can turn at will but cannot resist the presence of the full moon. Their transformations are usually quick and relatively painless. However, a less experience werecat might experience some discomfort. Another trait which helps the species is their overall resilience and regenerative abilities. They cannot regrow limbs but they can more quickly recover from diseases or injuries. Their abilities can become hampered though if silver is present in their bodies.

A Glimpse at Each Species
  • Bagheera: The Bagheera have always been sleek and graceful. While the majority of them have entirely ebony black fur in their feline forms, some members have been known to possess spots and yellow-brown fur instead. A werepanther’s eyes are said to be the wisest among cat folk-even the youngest of them appears to be in deep contemplation of their surroundings and people. Of all the werecats, the Bagheera are perhaps the most attractive so they are notoriously choosy when it comes to their mates. Many have been known to favor the arts, spreading art into an unappreciative world, or being behind some of the innovations which has made life after the virus less difficult.
  • Balam: Balam has always placed a high importance on honor and family. They were one of the first werecats to push for the joined elders of each species to negotiate for peace rather than continue with the pointless bloodshed of their loved ones. While the jaguar did not get along much with each other in the past, they have tried to dilute those territorial instincts due to the lack of territory remaining for them to roam. Balam is also one of the werecats most likely to mate with humans and cross bred within the werecats as well. Despite their ferocious temperament, they can be extremely affectionate to their loved ones. All considered precious to them is treated with respect and love, whether if it is a mate, human, or animal.
  • Khan: The Simba may declare themselves nobility but their cousins, the weretigers, are more fitting of the title. They have always been regal hunters and warriors, evoking the respect of whomever may cross their path. They are solid and dependable, smart and strong. Some of their main weaknesses include being too trusting of another or too certain of themselves. Khan are notorious for being straightforward and action oriented but not the most clever of schemers. Whatever one of these Bastet do, they do it with full-tilt vigor. Whether it be fighting, romancing, hunting, studying, even contemplating. They throw themselves into all tasks with a mighty passion, and their bodies, in any form, bristle with vitality.
Most Khan love company but the tigers’ territorial nature comes out if another Khan is around for long. These instincts are still present even within their limited territory. The regal warriors of their kind, Khan tend to be large, broad-shouldered, brawny individuals in all forms. Although males of all breeds are noticeably larger than female counterparts, both genders can be pretty impressive. While many Khan tend to be bad-tempered and aggressive, others love company of all kinds (and are powerful enough to demand respect).
  • Pumonca: The Pumonca, also called Stormwalkers, are the werecougars of the Bastet tribe. They are the restless wanderers and guardians of the Bastet. Pumonca have traditionally been most populous in North America, despite the fact that their feline Kin extend all the way into South America. Specifically, they tend to prefer wooded, mountainous areas, particularly the Rocky Mountains of the United States and Canada. But they have also found the Andes to be very much to their liking, and the Balam don't seem to mind sharing their territory with their northern cousins, particularly since the Pumonca rarely stay put for long and always respect the territories of those they encounter. Pumonca rarely establish territories, preferring instead to wander the continent and take in all it has to offer.
  • Simba: The Simba, also known as Lords of Sunlights or Dark Kings, are modeled after the lions of Africa. they are regal, proud, and powerful beyond compare. However, they are also arrogant, domineering, and malicious, even under the best of circumstances. The Simba firmly believe that they were created to rule their brethren. Consequently, this pride made them the last to agree to the treaty with humans and their numbers suffered the most due to their brashness.
  • Swara: The Swara, also called the Silver Folk, are the werecheetahs of the Bastet. Like their kin, they are extremely fast and serve as the messengers within the Fallen States. The Swara are very paranoid and distrust others, even of their own kind. Whatever its form or breed, a Swara is lean, slender and wiry. They dress for speed and comfort, not style, and tend to take daredevil chances for kicks.

Beastial Forms

Homid: This is their regular human form.
Sokto: Roughly resembles a human, but has too many bestial features on it to be one.
Crinos: Human-Cat hybrid
Chatro: The shape of prehistoric feline form.
Feline: Is indistinguishable from a normal felines in appearances.

Historical Timeline
  • In the year 2018, an unknown virus was first spotted in rural Germany. Individuals suffering from its symptoms and sent home with the belief that it was nothing to be overly concerned about it.
  • By early 2019, the virus was deemed responsible for the deaths of 1,000 citizens in Berlin. Werecats also fell prey to the virus but seemed to have a higher survivability rate. Werecats’ presence is still unknown by humans.
  • Late 2019, the virus was believed to be spread through saliva. It had since been deemed the cause of thousands of deaths within various countries; most of the victims were heavily concentrated in more urban areas. Werecats’ presence is still unknown by humans.
  • By 2020, western European nations were declared unsafe and placed as a no-fly zone. Due to fear of further contamination, most refugees were denied entrance to uninfected nations. Fear and desperation lead to chaos and looting as unlawfulness became the norm. To escape, many people left their homes and illegally immigrated into their neighboring countries. Most people were killed indiscriminately but some managed to filter in. Internal war erupts within several countries as citizens become fed up with their government’s secrecy about the virus. During this year, werecats are forced into the spotlight as they use their abilities more freely in order to defend their families and businesses against looters. Humans and werecats are openly fighting against each other.
  • In 2022, the first case of the virus was reported in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Attempts to contain the virus failed. The virus had also reached the continent of Africa. By late 2022, North American countries were also fighting against the epidemic. Whereas the virus did not affect any creatures other than humans and werecats, reports have now been reporting the mysterious death of livestock by the hundreds and that some creatures have simply gone mad.
  • In 2024, more than half of the world’s human population has been lost to the virus. Others are being killed by other ailments and injuries from fighting with one another. Mutated creatures have been preying upon the weak, forcing people away from whatever hobble they’ve made their own.
  • In 2025, werecats and humans form a treaty after werecats are pushed to near extinction. Their abilities unfortunately cannot combat the sheer number of humans. Werecats are given rights as citizens but those rights are less than what humans possess. Humans and werecats work together to retake and maintain territories.

Present Day (Year 2035)
  • Society has stabilized. Contact with other countries pretty much does not exist.
  • Technological advances has pretty much ceased. Anything which needed electricity does not work anymore.
  • Werecats are known to humans. Some are more accepting of them than others. Although second-class citizens, they can marry humans and get jobs. They do face discrimination. Also, weres are more likely to be forced into more dangerous and physically taxing jobs.

Character Profile

Example 1 of Completed Character sheet

Hello, I'm...

Character's Name: Riley Kennedy
Gender: Female
Born At: Indiana
Sexuality: Bisexual
Occupation: Border Patrol / Herbalist
Age: 28
Species: Bengal Tiger
Bitten or Born: Born

I look like...

Hair: Brown
Eyes: Pale Green
Height: 5'7"
Physical Description: Riley is all curves and muscle with a lean upper body and thicker legs, hips, and ass, and there is no shame in her game. She tends toward practical wear, athletic wear, or simple styles these days but to be honest she's one of those who feels that less clothes is better and she'll shed them whenever she deems it appropriate.

I'm usually...

Observant (Pos): Riley always pays attention to her surroundings. In fact it is harder for her to simply stop and just relax than it is for her to remain vigilant. She's seen too many good people taken down because they missed a clue or a sign of some sort. Including herself. She often can't help but think that maybe if she'd paid more attention before she would have seen her former mate for the lion he really was and maybe she wouldn't have lost her son. Along with this trait comes a fair amount of patience when necessary, though it is by no means endless.

Versatile (Pos): The ability to adapt, change, or just go with the flow is what has allowed Riley to come this far. Having done so since she was but a child, she is just as capable of standing amongst her fellow cats in the wild as she is blending into the flow of daily human life and her transition from one stage to the next often seems seamless. She knows that rigidity works in some cases, since not all change is good, and stability is always the aim but with the world as it is, being flexible definitely allows her the advantage. To that end she does not bother to bitch and gripe too often but rather simply does what is necessary to keep moving.

Compassionate (Pos): Despite having the occasional thought that things might be easier, might be better, if she didn't care, Riley cares a great deal for the people around her regardless of race or species. She is often giving of herself even when perhaps she should be more selfish, and can't seem to turn her back when she knows she can help.

Aggressive (Neu): Riley is a tigress and once that fact is known, its not likely to be forgotten. She's caring and generous but if you step out of line, manage to piss her off, or challenge her in some way Riley will rise to the occasion. She does not like to back down and often this trait can make her seem slightly reckless at times, as well as arrogant, and even bitchy, but it also means she doesn't sit around twiddling her thumbs. She is a go-getter always on the move, tireless in her determination and dauntless to boot.

Demanding (Neg): If there is time, Riley will gladly teach you what she knows, help you figure something out, or just let you try and fail to your heart's content but when it is time to get things done... yeah, no. She has little tolerance for outright incompetence--her own included--nor does she appreciate ignorance or laziness and she will not hesitate to let you know about it. She expects for people to pull their own weight and contribute to the group or go somewhere else. Yes, she's bossy as hell at times.

Lost (Neg): The loss of her child and mate, such as he was, in one fell swoop cut Riley adrift. She functions because there is no other choice but at the core of it all she has no idea what she is doing anymore or why. She feels without purpose, faith, or belief, and in their absence it at times becomes clear she is only moving to stay alive.

I come from...

Riley was born before the world went to shit but oddly enough she'd tell you that humans haven't really changed despite the drastic culling and shifts in society. She can remember what it was like to live freely, restricted only by the council mandate for secrecy but largely without fear. However, that all changed pretty rapidly once lawlessness hit and the cats were outed and as Riley had just come of age around the time the war broke out, she was swept up in the tide of violence and decay along with so many others.

Born as the oldest of two children to Dr. Marcus Kennedy, a human general practitioner with his own practice, and Dr. Lina Ochoa, a local weretiger and botanist working in pharmaceuticals, Riley was raised learning the best of both worlds. She was always a quite spirited individual with a hankering to explore the world around her but this urge was always tempered by caution and respect, even at a young age. That wasn't to say she couldn't be obstinate or cause trouble, but generally it was in the usual manner of teens and their occasionally rebellious ways rather than any truly deviant leanings. In fact, as a somewhat vibrant personality Riley was quite popular in school and maintained top marks in her studies. It was generally believed by all that knew her that once she graduated she would go on to do great things despite the rising unrest in other sectors of the world, however, whatever goals and aspirations she had declared then were ultimately given a backseat with the start of the fighting.

In the summer of 2023, Riley's younger brother (14) was claimed by the virus rather swiftly. Her mother would follow some months later leaving Riley and her father behind to try and help maintain the quickly devolving peace. Even the local werecat community was affected by the loss of one of its guiding voices in Lina, who had served as a sounding board and source of advice to their alpha for years. Riley began to rise to the occasion to try and fill her mother's shoe's as a respected member of both the human and were communities, taking on efforts to try and keep their local pride stable when tensions were at their highest though it was far from easy to live up to such expectations and their were many times when her lack of experience simply fell short. Especially while their grief remained fresh. Yet, the tigress persisted and learned as she always had, by watching, listening, and doing. Any thoughts of higher education were lost but life itself had become her teacher. Plus, she did continue to study her mother's notes as well as learn from her father to continue to help supplement whatever she could, even if it was only to be an extra pair of hands or another strong body.

During the decade following the war, Riley would grow into her own, becoming a fierce individual that others could look to for strength. Friends and allies were made and lost and all the while she and her father maintained their front as law abiding humans while Riley lived a double life. In 2028, the young tigress fell head over heels for (and got knocked up by) a male lion in his prime who took her for his mate. Things were great for a while with them bolstering each other through the highs and the lows and they had a healthy baby boy but when it became clear that their son took after her as a tiger rather than a lion, her so called mate became disinterested and distant. It was a bigger blow to Riley than she'd ever thought possible from a single individual but she kept it to herself, throwing even more of herself into trying to keep the peace and help those of her kind maintain while shielding herself and her child from any potential fallout. Then her cover was blown.

Maddox was barely two years old when he shifted and escaped the house to terrorize the neighbors who up until then had been nearly as close as family to them all. Seeing a tiger cub rolling about in their yard did not seem to inspire coos and adoration like such a thing might have in the seemingly distant past, but rather inspired nothing but outright fear and horror. The neighbors recoiled from Riley as she came to retrieve Maddox and the damage was done, with herself and her child being outed to the community at large in only a few hours. Her father was vetted as human but given that he was clearly a sympathizer, his relationships and community standing did suffer a blow and things were never quite the same. Similarly, her mate avoided being outed just barely but was tagged as a sympathizer, ruining any chance he had of working himself into any real position of power amongst the humans as he had planned.

From that moment on vigilance against those who would do her and her cub harm became the utmost important thing. Hunters were a very real threat despite being so close to the border. It didn't help that being tagged as a shifter meant that in order to help provide for her family she had to take on the sorts of jobs no one wanted. This could have been disastrous, however, as Riley tended to do, she made a virtue of necessity and took a position with the Border Patrol, rising to a leadership role rather quickly as fellow werecats, criminals, and other undesirables or specialists guarded the territory against any attempt at encroachment. She did find find that being outed did not mean she had to be silent nor did it have to cause her to withdraw but actually simplified some things since it made it so she could cease having to hide so much of herself. She continued to act in an advisory role within her pride and became quite well known as an example of what a "good" werecat might be, if there were such a thing, though there were plenty who saw her as nothing but trouble as she along with other outed cats began to win over small pockets of the community from their violent fear.

Apparently something had to be done. One night less than two years ago, Riley was out on an overnight shift at the wall when her mate decided he was through with the pretending. The two of them had long since ceased to be anything more than strangers to one another with him deciding to screw anything that would take him, married women seeming to be his favorites. Not everyone was inclined to look the other way or simply suffer in silence however, though Riley did not learn of this until much later. The very night her mate left, leaving their son home with a young teen sitter who had done overnights for them before while her father was also away, their house and those of their neighbors were set on fire by an aggressive band of hunters. No one survived.

Since then Riley has continued on, seeming to bury everything away to the point that no one is even sure she properly grieved. She continues to be a nuisance to those who would see the werecat threat destroyed however. Attempts were made to goad her into unsavory reactions for the purpose of discrediting her but even when it has taken every last fiber of will-power she has, Riley has gutted it out and restrained herself. Though the hunters responsible for the fire that took her son have all since disappeared. Now, only a couple weeks before there was to be a vote for local officials--a vote in which it seemed a werecat sympathizer might actually win--the weretiger who had his ear was "volunteered" to join the dangerous expedition going west while other members of her splintering pride were sent to patrol the ever restless border.

My quirks are...

Fears: Riley is terrified of uncontrolled flames.
O/O's: This character loves affection--even though she may act like she doesn't want it. She is particularly attuned to touch regardless of form and likes varying types from a slow gentle stroke to a hard slap, all can be appreciated in the right context, which means hands are something of an on for her. Oral (giving and receiving) is a very big on as well; just lips, teeth, tongue, however and wherever you wanna use 'em--hnng. She likes wearing her lovers marks (bites, scratches, like bruises and the like) but also likes the same from her partner. This character is a full out switch. Sometimes she likes to be in control and sometimes she likes to give it up, it depends both on her partner and the situation. She is equally open to the idea of a submissive partner or dominant regardless of gender. Offs generally match my own.
My O/Os.
Face Claim: Nicole Mejia
Notes: Riley is unconsciously biased against werelions due to the actions of her mate as well as those of a few other lions she's known.

Example 2 of Completed Character Sheet
Hello, I'm...

Character's Name: Rhowen Deveraux
Gender: Female
Born At: Born at North Carolina
Sexuality: Bi-Sexual
Occupation? Doctor
Born or Bitten: Born
Age: 22 (Born 2013)
Species: African Lion

I look like...

Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Dark Brown
Height: 5'6
Physical Description:

I'm usually...

Adventurous: Rhowen has always possessed an adventurous spirit. As a child, it led to her receiving a number of cuts and bruises, to the continued dismay of her mother, or discovering something earlier than she was mentally prepared to handle at the time. Either way, now more mature and curious, her soul has been demanding without relent for her to see the world at large rather than what little has been permitted underneath her parents’ thumb.

Observant | Intelligent: Rhowen’s family has access to a lot of volumes, which were recovered after the peace treaty was signed. Also, she has some of the best education possible due to her family’s location, a place which has beckoned some of the most educated minds. Her curiosity has permitted her to determine new ways to approach old procedures while her brain rarely lets her forget details, important or not.

High Maintenance: Living in the most comfortable territory has slightly left her with high expectations of others and her surroundings. She prefers order, etiquette, and cleanliness rather than being reminded of a time she would rather forget.

Blunt: Raised in North Carolina, Rhowen has sheltered from some of the extremities (violence and discrimination) suffered by werecats in other territories. A lot of her views of the world as a consequence seems idealistic to others who have been struggling in a brutal reality.

Loyal: Rhowen loves her mother, her last remaining parent, more than life itself. She remembers all too clearly how her mother struggled to care for them during the crux of the war and how she continues to provide for her family even now once the dust has seemingly settled around them. For this reason, she has turned a blind eye to certain wrongdoings and adapted rulings she does not necessarily agree with herself.

I come from...

During most of Rhowen’s remembered childhood, peace was a foreign concept, a fantasy unreachable to her no matter how hard she wished or even reached for it. All she knew and understood to be her reality was non-stop chaos and fear. Her mother, an accomplished harpist and daughter of a successful businessman, loathed to smell the weak emotion clinging to her youngest child’s flesh. Throughout the devastation brought forward by the outbreak, Fancy Octavia Deveraux, always reminded her children of their place within the world, one which did not require them to bend the knee before no man or werecat. Their struggles were temporary and all would return to normal within a matter of time. No matter how ardently her mother spoke these words, Rhowen had a difficult time believing them, especially when the heavy odor of burning bodies and shrill screams of those left behind by the dead filled her dreams.

Death eventually knocked hard at her family’s doorstep. Rhowen, Tate (her older brother), and then William (her father) all began to display symptoms of the feared virus that had crumbled nations within a matter of months. Soon afterwards, they were bedbound and weakened to the point where even transformation became burdensome. Most of their time was spent asleep. If they awoke, it was only in brief spells and never fully conscious of their surroundings. Finally, her brother healed but never completely regained his prior strength. Rhowen made a full recovery but William unfortunately died despite putting up a valiant fight against the virus.

Her mother was devastated by the loss. However, though bent by her grief for her deceased soulmate, she did not crumble underneath the hefty weight of her despair. Although her mate was lost, she still had five children to care for. Tensions heightened all the more within their neighborhood with people becoming increasingly leery of their neighbors regardless of how long they knew them. To divert attention from being drawn to them, her mother abandoned her keep to the ground tactic and joined a forming group of human hunters to expunge weres from their community. It was an uncomfortable time for Rhowen and her siblings. She understood the people standing not even five feet from her window were the type of people who would spit in their faces if they learned of their difference. Faithfully, each night, her siblings and she pleaded with her mother to simply leave rather than betray those who had done nothing against them in order to protect their own hides. Her mother remained firm in her decision to remain exactly where they were and none of her children dared to take a stand against her. They were forced to live a lie and witness the monstrosity of humans.

When the war came to its conclusion, her mother still remained leery of revealing themselves because she could not be certain if the treaty would hold or not. However, Rhowen’s eldest brother, Colin, was tired of his mother’s cowardice and tormented the most by what they had been forced to witness, outed himself loudly and registered as a werecat, the rest of the family had no other choice but to do the same. Eventually, her mother remarried to a successful businessman. It was not a marriage of love but necessity. The man carried protection and financial security for her mother. Meanwhile, he desired her mother’s exotic looks and was curious of the unknown rather than frightened by it like his peers.

Her brothers did not approve of the marriage and loathed how their mother’s new husband viewed her as a possession rather than a person. Arguments escalated to a physical altercation. It was only Fancy’s pleading which prevented her husband from reporting them to the local authorities. Both of her brothers left that night after failing to convince their mother to leave her husband, leaving their mother and three sisters to their new lives. Upon completion of her education, her stepfather pushed her into working for the government as a doctor.

My quirks are...

Fears: Deep Water, Rhowen almost drowned as a child and never fully recovered from her experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click for Details

  • Are pictures of each transformation stage necessary? No.
  • May I put NSFW pictures in my character sheet? Yes, please place them in a spoiler though.
  • Do the werecats have a form of government? If so, did they have spies and such within the war? The werecats have always had a small council of elders which sort of governed them as far as things like--don't draw attention to yourself with the humans and for dealing with into pride (pack) relations, and so on. However, werecats typically are a part of their local pride (pack) and their leader (alpha) may have had additional mandates but for the most part the cats lived among humans and followed human law like any other citizen.

As far as clandestine work, we are not sure what you mean. This "war" is not like an organized conflict like country vs country. Think of the way vampires or weres are handled in most fiction where when discovered hunters (humans who are prepared to deal with their special abilities) might take them out. In large part these are neighbors and community members who might have been in good standing all their life but are suddenly "outed" as a werecat and then either killed or run out of town by individuals they know. Prides might have banned together to actively fight the humans in some case but most cats opted for trying to blend/hide.
  • If I create a messenger, would they work regionally or nationally? Either option is acceptable. Some could work regionally or nationally.
  • If I don't know the name of my face claim, may I still use that picture? Yes.
  • It seems like societal collapse is a fairly recent thing, correct?  If so, how was so much of the West lost so fast? You could say it was fairly recent. Most of the characters submitted so far lived through the virus and following "war" between humans and werecats. The reason why the West was lost is due to the virus hitting hardest over there. Also, it is also where the monstrosities appeared first. People in the East likely believe anything human in No Man's Land is dead. I did not mention this specifically but there is a wall along the border states to keep what's over there out. It is heavily patrolled by mostly werecats but some humans.
  • Is possible for werecats to have caught the virus and survived? Yes.
  • Do the Werecats have a particular religious framework or do they tend to just pick up whatever human practices they happened to be surrounded by? There is no overall religion for them. However, your characters can practice human religions, not believe in any god at all, or have their  own personal beliefs.
  • How long did it takes to transform into one of their forms? Is it instantaneous or would it take a minute or more? What happens upon their death, do they revert to human or stay in their current form? It depends on the character. Like a lot of stuff with species, transformation time varies. Just because one cheetah can reach ## speed, it doesn't mean all of them can. They need to strip or risk their clothes being ruined. And finally, again it varies. Some people might shift back and others may not.
  • What about transportation? Have they run out of petrol and diesel? Are they forced to rely on carts and horses? Vehicles still being used but rarely seen. However, horses, your feet, bicycles, skates, or anything of that sort are how people are getting around.
  • How far back were things pushed with regards to technology? The population has been culled significantly. Electricity is no go. There might be functioning generators around here and there (if some folks are handy) but fuels are used sparingly. Which means it is the same with vehicles and much other machinery. Old infrastructure has been slowly reclaimed by nature so outside of stable communities things are broken down and overgrown. Schools have regressed to the one room school house type feel. Doctors are using more natural remedies. Food is without many preservatives and livestock are precious commodities. Civilization is just beginning to stabilize post outbreak and life is labor intensive.
  • Are the livestock alive? The livestock they have in the remaining territories are fine in a general sense, but any livestock someone may have is precious as there are thieves, normal ailments, etc. and hunting is not quite a plentiful as it once was nor are things produced in the mass quantities they once were.
  • What happens when werecats have sex? In werecat society, female werecats can go into heat when they are around a compatible male mate. In other words, we are leaving it to the female writer’s discretion when they want their characters to enter heat.

If the heat cycle is triggered, it will last for approximately five to seven days. Overall, heat can only occur twice within a single year. It cannot happen if a female is pregnant or infertile. Once a female has entered their heat cycle, the female will become irritable, easily angered, and likely more prone to riskier behavior without some form of sexual *eyebrow waggles* release. This release can be granted by either a male or female werecat. It can be kept manageable through masturbation but this practice will not grant the same relief.

Compatible male werecats are also affected by heat. In other words, you get to determine if your character is affected or not by the female. If they are, it may make the female in question appear more desirable and also increase their desire to forget responsibility for the pleasure of fucking. However, these responses can be managed with experience and control. Some male werecats also possess barbed cocks while others possess human ones. Barbed cocks, within our setting, does not hurt the female. In fact, it increases the female’s pleasure while locking the male werecat briefly into place.
  • Regarding heat, would a female watch on with delight while the males suddenly fought each other both for the opportunity, to impress her with feats of strength and to ensure the others aren't capable to mate with her or is it more...friendly? How does it affect the female? Does she suddenly not care who satisfies her, does she only want the strongest, or will human desires and attachments come into play? It entirely depends upon the character. I am not a fan of settings where it predetermines how people will react to a situation. That’s boring. Instead, I would rather if each character had the freedom to determine how they approach various circumstances. For example, some compatible male characters might feel the urge to fight but that does not mean they have to act upon it. Some might be more aggressive towards the actual female while others might be gentle.

The female always has a choice, which is why masturbation or another woman is listed as an option. If someone tries to force themselves on a woman, they might find themselves missing a ball or attacked by other females in the group.
  • How do regular animals (say horses, livestock, general pets etc. ) react to the werecats? Are they nervous, downright frightened (maybe smelling something that screams "predator" to them) or do they not care? I'd say it's pretty much dependent upon the individual. Just like with humans some werecats will get along splendidly with animals, others will have to approach cautiously, and others still will find animals making warning noises and either trying to attack or flee. Temperament and overall presence probably have a lot to do with it so generally speaking weres can have pets, work with livestock, and ride horses if they've got the right touch.
  • What is human and werecat relations like? Pre-War: There were a few options for our furry weres. They could live side by side with humans. They could also live with their own kind. They could live in an area where there are humans and other werecats. Or maybe they lived somewhere where they were completely alone with only nature around them. All of these are acceptable.

During the War: There are still a few options. Some werecats remained hidden in human society. Some werecats who lived with humans might have moved from their home if the area became dangerous. Some werecats might have moved to more werecat populated areas.

Post-War: Still a few options. They can live side by side with humans but will possibly face discrimination from them. They can live in an area where there is only for werecats and humans who might be in a family (via marriage or birth). They can also live in an area that is sparsely populated.

Heya Chrystal! I'm happy someone likes this crazy plot brewed up from watching one too many television shows and movies. :-)

For pictures, it can just be photos of your chosen face claim. The "transformation" pictures are not necessary. I'm sure folks can use their imagination and it can also be described via post. That said, if you do find a picture you like that accurately displays what you envision when they transform into one of the five states, feel free to include it in your character sheet. However, spoiler it at the bottom rather than place it as one of the top pictures. The same applies to their feline form, which will probably be easier to locate due to people's obsession with big cats. Just pop it in a spoiler at the end of the character sheet.

Again, although your sheet is submitted, it doesn't necessarily mean the spot is yours. You are one of the runner-ups! I am glad for your interest though.  ;D

Like I said, this is Chrystal-Bait. I love post-apocalyptic and I love anthro felines. (And I can't stand the current trend for zombies).

I don't like zombies at all so you don't have to worry about that!

QuoteOkay so one big mugshot and some smaller pics of the human, then spoiler any anthro pics. Got it. I assume that applies to nude human pics too. Safer to put them under a spoiler.

Yeps. You have it right. Anything but human pictures goes in the lovely spoiler tag.

QuoteI answered my other question myself, by reading the time-line, by the way! *facepalm*

-snorts- I'm just happy that timeline made sense. xD Basically what I was trying to have people understand is that the world has gone to shit. No Apple products or fast food for you! :P

QuoteRunners-up? Those are the people who come second... do you mean I'm one of those "in the running"? I do hope I can make the cut (to switch to a golfing metaphor).

Yea, that goes over my head. I don't watch golf. It just means your character sheet will be one of the sheets considered when recruitment closes. I need to talk with Koka about when that date will be. Probably when all roles have sufficiently displayed interest.

Hey Tiger... *giggles*

I've PMed my sheet. I hope it fits the bill. If there's anything at all there you don't like, please let me know (Like for example calling the POW/Internment caps "zoos" - it seemed like a good idea when I wrote it!)

We've received your sheet and will look it over. Approvals (or request for edits/clarifications) will go out after we've gotten a few more sheets and can have a better idea of the group dynamic. :)

Also, I added this section to the character sheet:

Bitten or Born: Were they born a werecat or are they a human transformed into one?

We will only be accepting two bitten cats. The low number is due to them being rare, the initial transformation process is incredibly life-threatening, and it is frowned upon by both humans/weres.

Clandestine was more like spy work, information gathering, sabotage, infiltration and assassination missions.  Is looking at a Puma that might have been apart of a  team put together for such purposes during the war  just trying to get an idea of such a role would fit the setting?

Crash

I like the puma scout idea but am also drawn to the idea of the Cheetah Express messenger.  Could be fun.

Flower and Koka - Are you looking at one location or some movement.  My only concern with both Puma and Cheetah is that they seem like the outliers of the Bastet.

He could have done that type of work for his local pride alpha. For example, he could have eliminated hunters or even helped families move silently out of dangerous areas. Whatever you decide, try and keep it small scale.

Either option sounds fine to me. Some could work regionally or nationally. Just know this express messenger means they will always be on the move.

Okay Thanks flowers.

You're welcomes! To clarify, that would have happened only during the war years. If a were killed a human after the treaty, it would be considered a crime.

WIP
Hello, I'm...

Character's Name: Rhowen Deveraux
Gender: Female
Born At: Born at North Carolina
Sexuality: Bi-Sexual
Occupation? Scientist | Government Employee

Upon completion of her education, her stepfather pushed her into working for the government as a scientist rather than permitting her to fulfill her dream to work as a soldier and patrol the wall which separates their territories from the West. Most of her job is spent in relative comfort as she dissects and evaluates some of the creatures captured and killed from the frontlines.

My quirks are...

Fears: Deep Water, Rhowen almost drowned as a child and never fully recovered from her experience.
O/O's: Click me
Face Claim: Riya Ray
Notes: Anything else worth knowing that was not covered in the character sheet.

Also, this question came in pm but I thought to clarify here as well.

For those living in one of the border states close to the West (Indiana and Alabama), your character might be aware of the fact that there is something out there in the West...something monstrous. >.>
