"Don't tempt her," Elreth said, suppressing a chuckle. "The last person who pushed Silver to show her true colours ended up with three broken ribs. If Ariadne told her to go easy on you, it's for your own safety believe me."

"Well, that person didn't have me nearby when he thought it was a smart idea to try riding her," Ariadne sighed. "Come on Daric, we have the best inn in the land to get to before sunset, we can't hang around here forever." She climbed onto the smaller horse, trotting it over to Elreth and offering him a brief hug. "Take care of yourself, you know how to reach the other rangers if something does happen."

"Quit worrying about me," Elreth said. "The only reason I'm not coming with you two is my age, neither of you has any excuse for wasting time though."

Khal Drogo

Daric started to ride forward on Silver, as he saw the blind man joke about it and Ariadne's retort the comment on broken ribs. Daric instinctively rouched his own and swallowed, he heard her talk about the horse and inn so he looked up "good thing I have you with me then" he said, chuckling a little.

He tried speeding on Silver a little, testing the limits of how fast he could go for now as he planned to eventually be able to go at full speed, assuming he had time for it. He ride ahead a little and looked back, yelling "thanks for the help Elreth! I'll survive to repay this debt to you." he waited for Ariadne to lead the way but showed no signs of hurrying her.

"You'll be glad to know our route north doesn't require us to step off the path till we reach the other side," Ariadne said, trotting the horse to the edge of the clearing, which revealed a small track that led back onto the main path through the forest. She directed the horse towards it, keeping a sharp eye on their surroundings to ensure they wouldn't be caught unawares.

"What are you waiting for Daric?" she said as they reached the path. "There's a half day's ride between here and the forest's edge at normal speed, are you willing to gamble on how quickly that steed can go?"

Khal Drogo

He was happy to be back on a path, traveling on the road was always more relaxing than a forest where things could jump out of no where. Though he supposed on the road could be as dangerous. As they reached the path he was surprised by her challenge, he smiled, happy to see that she's not too tense.

He looked down at Silver, petting her a little before looking back up at the elf "race you to the edge?" He said as he started to speed along the path, testing how fast she can go while keeping himself on the saddle.

"Don't say I didn't warn you," she muttered under her breath, unable to stop a small smile crossing her face as she encouraged the horse to start after Silver, for the moment only trailing her by a short distance. "I'm surprised my comment about the inn didn't convince you to go full speed," she said. "It was only after I said it that I remembered your job and realised that I may have insulted your own skill at your job."

At that moment a small bird, its wings covered in silver feathers, flew almost straight across their path, not that Silver seemed to pay it the slightest attention and even Ariadne spared it only the slightest glance.

Khal Drogo

Daric laughed as the wind assaulted his face as they ride, he saw her catching up and heard the comments and laughed some more "my lady I took no offense! We at the Imp's Delight sells the best drinks and owns the best rooms around!" he said as he speed up on silver a little more, she was a lot harder to control but it was definitely a worthwhile experience.

He also ran into one of those silver bird he turned around a little to ask "You saw that bird? Never saw anything like it" speeding up a little, he wanted to go even faster but he wanted her answer first

"I'll spare you their Elvish name," she replied. "I can barely pronounce it myself, but it translates to your tongue as a Starwing. The myth goes that they were born when stars fell to Earth. I doubt it's true, but it's a nice story at least."

She was managing to keep up to him as well as her mount possibly could, enjoying the feel of the wind through her hair. "Try not to get too carried away, you'll need me to point you in the right direction once we're out of the forest."

Khal Drogo

He was grinning the whole time, his red hair and beard flowing in the wind and blue eyes pierced forward as he felt competitive. He looked at her as the elf spoke "interesting name, would love to have some downtime around them" he turned back to Silver, he saw that she could still go faster. He was barely hanging on but figured he could push himself a bit more, especially when he has been sober since morning.

He grinned as she warned him, though he took it more as a challenge "See you at the edge of the forest then" he said as he made Silver go full speed "if you can catch up to me that is" he said as he speed away, thinking he left her in the dust.

She took off, taking time but catching up with him before they reached the edge of the forest. "I should have given you fair warning," Ariadne said, smirking. "I am almost certain I've been riding horses since before you were born, you can get incredible speeds out of most horses if you know the right way to...persuade them."

She took a brief look ahead, seeing the first signs of the edge of the forest in the near distance.

"Tell me," she said suddenly. "What do you know of the lands north of here? I know few occupants of the city find their way past the boundaries of the forest."

Khal Drogo

He gave up trying to go any faster, at least for now since she seemed to know what she was doing. He sighed in a little disappointment but it was to be expected "you must be pretty old then, Granny" he teased her as she gave him the tips.

He turned to see what she was looking at and saw the edges of the forest when she asked the question. He shrugged on his saddle and answered "that it's the lands of the wyvern, dragons and humanoid dragons, other than that I've heard telltales of monsters as large as a mountain, serpants the size of a river and such from the inn but sometimes truth and tales were mixed up so you couldn't tell what's what really."

"That is more accurate than I would've anticipated," Ariadne said, laughing. "Although that's not quite true. But even before you get there you have to get through the Orc lands and the Troll Hills. Those could be an...interesting experience."

They finally reached the forest edge, exiting it to find there was a large town nearby, the sun slowly setting somewhere behind it.

"That is our destination for the night," Ariadne said. "I should warn you, the human lands north of the forest are far more lawless. Ezeira over there has a city guard of sorts, but they try to avoid intervening in matters as much as possible."

Khal Drogo

He smashed his fist into his hand and cracked his knuckles in excitement upon hearing it "sounds like fun, finally I'll be able to test out my training" he said, still trying to stay on the horse.

When they reached the edge of the forest he looked into the far distance and observed everything before directing his attention to the town she pointed out when he heard about the lawlessness he sighed "great, more chaos is exactly what I needed" he said sarcastically. "oh well, you said they are  the best inn in the land" the last part he remarked in a mocking tone.

"let's see if they can impress this inn keeper" he said, moving forward in a moderate pace, not in a rush anymore then he turned to the elf "how's my riding? did I manage to impress you?"

Lady Jenn

"You did indeed," she said as she led him towards the open gate to the city. "Although, as weird as it sounds, it feels...odd to be riding out on a horse other than her.

As they entered the town Ariadne let out a sigh of relief, the streets at that hour were mostly empty, other than children ducking into doorways, and the occasional shoddily dressed soldier who seemed to pay them no heed. Near the centre of the town they finally stopped in front of an extraordinary looking building: It was made out of stones that appeared far sturdier than the defensive walls, a well-thatched roof covering the second storey of the building. The occasional neigh from nearby indicated that there was a stable behind the building. Sat on a bench in front of it, dressed in a uniform that seemed two sizes too big for him and leaning against a spear as tall as he was, was a young boy, his unkempt red hair half-hidden by a helmet which had fallen down his face. Indicating for Daric to wait Ariadne jumped off the horse, moving towards the boy as if she hadn't noticed him.

"I was told this inn was guarded by the bravest soldier south of the Badlands," she said airily. "But all I see is a child up past his bedtime." At the latter comment the boy sprung up, but his retort died on his lips as he caught sight of the elf in front of him. "Alex, it has been far too long."

"Auntie Arrie," the boy said excitedly, pulling her into a hug. "I told father you'd be back eventually." He caught sight of Daric behind her. "Who's your friend?"

Khal Drogo

Daric looked around as they approached the town and into the boundaries, he was relatively unimpressed. How could such a shoddy place survive in a place of orcs and elves and trolls not to mention being far from any kind of civilization. The inn wasn’t too much of a disappointment but he hoped it would prove him wrong, so he could learn something but that something was definitely not design. “My inn was still better, not impressed so far” before he dismounted Silver after she went to talk to the boy “thank you” he said rubbing Silver’s neck.

“Daric Dondarian” he said bowing a little as he looked at the boy “an innkeeper from a place a tad far from here, nice to meet you” he said in the usual proud owner demeanor. “And you are?”

"Alexander," the young boy replied, trying to give Daric a salute but failing. "Although those who know me call me Alex. My father runs this inn. Daric, have you been on adven-"

"Alex, there will be time for this discussion later," Ariadne said, cutting him off with a firm but kindly voice. "But I need you to do two things for me: take our horses to the stable, and then tell your father I must speak with him urgently. Can you do that for me?" The young boy nodded enthusiastically, taking the horses from the two of them and vanishing around the side of the inn, Ariadne letting out a sad sigh. "Merrick isn't Alex's true father," Ariadne said, turning to Daric. "I found Alex in the forest, next to the dead bodies of his parents. I don't know why they were there or what killed them, but I couldn't leave him there and I knew Merrick had never been able to have the family he longed for, so I chose to bring those two lost souls together. Alex was...fortunately...too young for him to remember what happened, and I don't have the heart to tell him the truth about Merrick's relation to him."

With one last look in the direction Alex had gone she led Daric to the doorway. As they stepped inside the air around them seemed to shimmer, the enchantments around the building so familiar to Ariadne that she barely noticed the change. The inside of the inn was remarkable: although it was hardly a small building on the outside, the interior seemed far larger than most observers would have expected. It was packed with a mixture of ruffians, the occasional tired looking soldier, and even the occasional dwarf hunched over large glasses of drink. Stood at the bar, talking to a man in a long travelling cloak, was a short, stout older man with thinning grey hair. When he caught sight of Ariadne he gave him a smile and a nod.

"Find us a table," Ariadne said quietly. "I'll get us a drink."

Khal Drogo

Daric didn't like cutting people off but he understood it was urgent business. He was interested in the boy's story though he'd need to first teach him how to salute. He felt sad when he heard of the story. Said but he didn't pity the boy, pity is a dangerous thing that can be mistook for looking down on them. When his father died everyone said "I'm sorry" or "my condolences" and so on like they cared about him or that it was their fault. He knew some did feel that way but it wasn't the best option either. "He will grow up to be a fine boy, you did the right thing" he said turning to her and placing his hand on her shoulder, best he could anyways.

"seems like you dumped the responsibilities on him" he told her when she said she didn't have the heart  to tell the boy "it's not my place to tell him anything but I think both you and Merrick should tell him together, when he's older and has the ability to process the news of course. Though the sooner the better". He stepped in along with her, he was impressed by the inside and now believed why they praised it so much "impressive, I might be able to take a trick or two from this place after all".

As she said she'd get the drinks Daric raised an eyebrow "I thought you don't drink Ariadne" he said as he looked around "for a place in the middle of nowhere this place is pretty good".

"This place was here long before Merrick was," Ariadne replied. "He's never told me who its original owner was, although I swear it feels like he has been here longer than most humans live. And as for a drink," she said, laughing. "I said I didn't drink alcohol, that doesn't mean this inn doesn't provide other drinks I don't appreciate."

As she turned to head toward the bar a particularly drunk patron tried to grab her cloak. "Darling, come sit on my lap and I'll give you whatever you want."

"Allow me to offer you friendly advice," Ariadne said, turning enough to stare straight into his eyes, the daggers she wore glinting in the lantern light. "If you want your hand to continue to be attached to your arm you will keep it a LONG way away from me. Do we understand each other?" The man managed nothing more than a whimper in reply, turning back to his companions. "Unfortunately Merrick and Alex's kindness is...rare in this part of the world. As I said, find us a table and I'll join you shortly. And if anyone causes any trouble tell them you have one of the Shin'erai with you, anyone stupid enough to try anything then deserves what's coming to them."

Khal Drogo

He smirked a little when she barked the man away "I see you're popular here" he teased as she went to the bar.

He didn't really needed the advice but he needed in appreciation as he turned to go get a table for them. He found one next to the wall nearby so he walked over and sat on one side, waiting for her to come back as he stared blankly around. The familiar setting made him a little homesick but he brushed it off. He wondered how old this man was, if he lived for that long he could easily be over a hundred. He watched her a little as she went to get the drink.

A man walked up to him, looking like he wanted trouble "what'd you want?" Daric asked the man. He was uncomfortably lose but his expression didn't change "you new here boy? This is our seat" he said motioning at the table

"oh sorry, I didn't know your name was on here, let me get my Shin'erai friend" the men looked at each other before one of them punched Daric, instinctively he drew the sword and cut the man's hand off.

Before the man could respond Ariadne had a knife against his neck, the other lingering near the small dagger the man was carrying. "I don't know if you know the reputation of the Rangers, but my knife can move far quicker than your hand or your friends can, tell them to back off."

"I think it's time for everyone to leave," came a gruff voice from the direction of the bar. There were some loud grumbles from around the bar. "If you think you haven't had your fill yet I'm sure my royal friend here will be happy to...discuss your complaint."

A few of the patrons seemed to steal a glance at Ariadne, before thinking better of causing a scene and heading to the door, along with the man who had struck Daric once Ariadne had let him go. She turned to see Merrick escorting an especially grumpy dwarf out, catching the tail-end of a discussion. "I know Doran, there is never enough alcohol to take your mind off work, you can try again another night." With that the stout older man shut the door, stretching just high enough to bolt it, before going to the bar for their drinks and heading towards them.

"Merrick, I've told you about divulging who I am in this bar," Ariadne said to him, more frustrated than annoyed. "I am capable of protecting you without people expecting something of me that I am not."

"My apologies Ariadne," the man said, offering her a brief embrace before turning to Daric and putting out his hand. "My name is Merrick, this place is my home and my inn." He let out a sigh as he saw the hand on the floor. "I swear it is not usually THIS unpleasant though."

Khal Drogo

Daric looked at the men and the other patrons as they left, he didn’t expected them to make a scene and he felt guilty for robbing everyone of their drink, especially that dwarf. “Give me a minute he said before rushing to the door as he saw the dwarf leave “hey! Doran was it? Here take this” He said lightly tossing a bottle to the dwarf “home specialty from my inn, sorry for the commotion so take that as my compensation!” Before the dwarf can reply he rushed back inside to see everyone who’s left “I’m sorry for that, didn’t expect it to happen. As an innkeeper myself that was unacceptable” he looked away, rubbing his head. He turned to Ariadne for a moment and raised an eyebrow “and did he just called you a royal?”

He turned to Merrick apologetically and bowed, his right hand on his left chest “Daric, an Innkeeper from the capital” he said “I’m so sorry for what happened, I don’t usually make this kind of ruckus either” he picked up the hand and put t away in his pouch “I’ll throw it away somewhere later”

"You haven't told him have you?" Merrick asked, raising an eyebrow, before turning to Daric. "Did you not wonder why a blade like the one you're carrying is so elaborate, even by Elvish standards?"

"My grandfather was an Elvish king," Ariadne said, sighing. "The last to rule before my people fled to the lands south of the Great Sea. Indeed, as we speak, my brother rules there now. The story of how a princess finds herself as a ranger however is...a story for another time. Especially with the mission we're on."

"Alex told me you wanted a word with me," Merrick said, pulling a chair up to the table. "I can only think of two reasons that'd be, and I'm sure you wouldn't be crazy enough to...travel north..." He fell silent, seeing the look on Ariadne's face. "Ye Gods, you are going north, aren't you?"

"You're the only person I know aware of the events north of here," Ariadne said. "We need to know what we're getting ourselves into."

"You're not going to like my answer," Merrick said, sighing. "Do you want the bad news, or the worse news?"

Khal Drogo

His eyes wisened a little as he looked at her I was racing with a princess? he thought as he looked back and forth between them "I mean, she only told me that he made the blade" he shook his head to get rid of the shock "well, that explains a lot. From her beauty to well... everything, except for the ranger part" he paused for a moment to listen to them talk and as they talked about how suicidal it was to travel north Daric helped himself to a bottle of alcohol from the bar, placing the coins on the counter, a little more than the market price for it and chugged a good amount before turning to Merrick "not like we have much of a choice do we? Do help us" he said and turned to Ariadne "so what'd you like to drink? I'll get some while we talk princess Ariadne" he teased her a little in a friendly way as he looked around and listened "as for the news, let's go from bad to worse" he said preparing to make non alcoholic drink.

Lady Jenn

"I suppose she's told you about the Orc-ruled Badlands to the north?" Merrick asked, chuckling slightly as Ariadne shook her head. "Let me guess, you were waiting for the right moment? Well, the bad news is the Orc warlord who rules there, Blacktooth, is said to be the nastiest Orc seen in generations. There are rumours of resistance fighters but...good luck tracking any of them down."

"If that's the bad news, I dread to think what you consider worse," Ariadne said.

"Well, as always I get idiots who travel north on some great hunt and are never seen again," Merrick replied. "Recently ten men decided to go to the Troll Hills to try and gain themselves the head of Troll Alpha to boast over. Only one managed to flee south, he was frightened half to death and he refused to say anything other than one word: Dragonstorm."

"N...no..." Ariadne said, trembling. "That's...Merrick, worse doesn't even begin to explain what that is if the man is telling the truth."

Khal Drogo

Daric stopped screwing around and joined them, he swallowed hard as he listened to them. He placed two glasses of water down for them before joining them, sitting in a triangle and positioned himself between the two. The Orcs which were supposed to be as tall if not taller than her, strong enough to break a tree with their bare hands and frightening enough to scare even the bravest of any warrior. "Does sound like a bloody ordeal, probably best to sneak pass them unless they have some kind of a grand prison we can get some friends from"

He scratched his head a little, confused about the dragonstorm "excuse me but could you fill me in on this dragonstorm? my folks knew a lot about many things but dragons are out of their range of expertises"
I'm always up for new RP and I've been trying to improve my writing. Anything with smut and story I'm in just hit me up, I have a request post but anything outside of it is good! check my O/O and hit me up!

Lady Jenn

"I suspect the only people who would understand a Dragonstorm are dead, dragons or living among the elves," Merrick said grimly. "Although I suspect Arrie can explain better than I can."

"Dragons don't invade like other races," Ariadne said. "They send their minions-"

"You mean the Thunder Lizards of myth?" Merrick asked.

"Assuming the myths are true then yes, they would be among them," Ariadne replied. "They are sent ahead to push anything in their way ahead of them. First come the Orcs, then the Trolls, then the occupants of the foothills. If by some blind luck you survive them...then come the denizens of Dragonblight. The only positive side of this news is it can't have started yet, otherwise we'd already know about it first hand. We still have time to get to Dragonblight and persuade Stormrider there is another way to get what he wants."
