You mean, another game, in which you could play, as opposed to the one you're running?

I'm a very experienced Exalted GM, though I've never run it as a play-by-post. I might take a stab at it. Seems as though there might be enough other interested parties to round out yet another game.

Mind you, I'm also trying to launch a Traveller game, and if that comes together I don't think I'd have time to run two games. So give me a few days to see whether that idea takes hold before it drops off the front page and out of everyone's awareness.

*pounce*  That's exactly what I mean, and it would be most appreciated if you did.  :)

(Some systems really lend themselves to play by post.  Exalted and other--more elaborate--systems it can help for players to correspond over instant messenger for combat resolution.  It's not necessary, of course, and there are other ways to make the game run smoother on play by post.)

I  hate to wish another game ill, but I'd far rather play Exalted.  Please let me know as soon as you do.  :)

Just can't seem to finalize any ideas for this one. Sorry. At least you have a decent group of interested players to pick from.

If I were gonna run this instead of my space opera idea…how many people would be interested in yet another Exalted game? Muse, I know you would.

You know... you could do a Space Opera Exalted....

The Gunstar Autochthonia alternate setting from Shards of the Exalted Dream is pretty darn cool. I could run that. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Not holding my breath on that one.

(For those who don't have Shards: the Exalted lost the Primordial War and fled Creation aboard Autochthon. It's high-powered Exalted space opera with shades of BSG and other…stuff.)

Muse

*smiles*  Gunstar is all right.  I think I like the other one better--the future exalted--but I'd play gunstar.

avorae

I have no idae of what gunstar is but I'll be willing to give it a shot.
Life is a hard game but the rewards are sweet if you know where to look.

Sarat

Muse can vouch for me, since I don't know many people here anymore. I'd play an exalted game of any kind.

Anon315

I would likely be able to find my interest piqued for space opera exalted, or any exalted.

Honestly not a fan of Gunstar, I like Heaven's Reach better, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

…And I don't care for Heaven's Reach, though this is neither the time nor the place to get into why.

Are you sure you'd be able/willing to sustain your interest in a game of which you are "honestly not a fan" over the long term? Because if not, please don't trouble yourself. I only want committed players, because my experience tells me that 2/3 of those who sign up for a pbp will drop out pretty quickly, even if they start out interested.

Marie Reynolds

Well Muse if a spot opens up let me know cause I have a Dragonblooded Archer/Healer Concept I would love to run.

Not gonna trouble myself then. Gunstar holds no interest for me due to the horrible setup of how the exalts are done.

I'd be interested in another Exalted game, but not in any of the Shards settings, sorry.

Rook Seidhr

OK, so I count four people who are interested in any kind of Exalted, one who's interested particularly in a DB concept (whereas I would prefer to run a Celestial-level game), one who will play vanilla but not Gunstar, and one troll.

Four or five players are not enough to start a pbp; three of them will drop within two months, in my experience. Waiting on more people to show up. So far no one sounds particularly thrilled by Gunstar except me, so I guess that's off the table. :(

Zaer Darkwail

Well, I do not mind join another exalted game but I do not have Shards so I have no sligthest clue what the setting is like besides what you wrote already and it's not much :P.

Muse

Oh, did Malixie chime in?  He said he was interested.  I'd better remind him he has to actually say so.  *Sweat drop.*

I had a post with a few paragraphs cut-and-pasted from the relevant chapter of Shards but I didn't think it would really tell anyone much about how the setting works so I deleted it. It was a violation of copyright anyway.

I'll put up something with actual useful information about Gunstar shortly.

Zaer Darkwail

Ahaa, ok. I managed read it and was about reply....and then disappeared so it left me paranoid to think 'did I just imagine that'?

Anyways it was enough info that I am willing to try the setting, it sounds interesting mix of space opera/sci-fi in exalted setting :). Also I did like Battlestar Galactica.

I can at least tell you that myself, Muse, and Zaer will likely stick around for a game. A DB in a celestial level game is possible, but requires some houserules to pull off without making the DB player underwhelming.

This is Gunstar Autochthonia (which I would still like to run if enough people are willing to try it):

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Four thousand years ago, the Exalted realized they were losing the Primordial War. In a desperate move, they took as many of their human followers as they could and boarded the world-jouten of their ally Autochthon, fleeing the Spiral that was their home for the depths of space. They left behind the Unconquered Sun, who had been beaten into submission and forced to swear fealty to the Universe-Emperor Theion (called Malfeas in the standard setting); they left behind Gaia, who grabbed the near-fatally wounded Luna and fled the Spiral aboard her own comet-ship Gnosis. The Five Maidens stole the Loom of Fate from Heaven and integrated it with Autochthon's crystalline core, instituting the Seal of Five Divinities and the Samkhya Heresy Protocols to prevent the Primordials and the Sun from tracking the fleeing Exalted by the prayers of traitors and the cycles of Celestial Exaltation.

The Solar Exalted rule over the Eight Nations of Autochthonia. It is their transcendent mastery of magitech that is still forging Autochthon into the Gunstar, the perfect weapon-world by which the titans can be defeated and the Spiral retaken for humanity.

The Lunar Exalted serve their mates in a variety of capacities. When the Dragon-Blooded pilots of the Gunstar Defense Line launch their voidfighters against the hellstars of the Green Sun Princes, the Lunars are there, needing no ships but taking on the forms of countless space-behemoths they have defeated. When new artifact-implants must be installed in the deepest Reaches of Autochthonia, the Lunars are there, adapting to impossible extremes of temperature, pressure and gravity, defending the crews of technicians against those of Autochthon's internal components that have never seen the face of Man. When Voidbringer cultists seek to open the hatches of the great world-titan to dark forces from without, the Lunars are there, infiltrating and bringing them to justice.

Without the Great Curse or the Arcane Fate, the Sidereal Exalted are what the Maidens meant them to be, trusted advisors to the Solars. They predict and shape the course of events within and without Autochthon, interfacing with the great titan's exmachina to reweave his Design.

The Dragon-Blooded bear the brunt of the fighting. The voidfighter pilots of the Gunstar Defense Line, the commanders of the ground troops who repel boarders and drill endlessly for the day that the Gunstar returns to the Spiral, the savants and sorcerer-engineers who assist Solars in their laboratories, the managers who keep the factories and temples of Autochthonia running smoothly, these are all chosen from among the Terrestrial Exalted.

The Alchemical Exalted are the Champions of the un-Exalted masses of Autochthonia, at once the visible face of authority to the people, and the defenders and advocates of the people in the councils of the Exalted. They are the only Exalts who see and participate in the day-to-day work that keeps all of Autochthonia running.

The Infernal Exalted (strictly NPCs) lead the Primordials' space-navy. Led by the Conquered Sun, they harrass the Gunstar constantly, tracking it across the stars, ever seeking its destruction. When they cannot triumph by force, they board the Gunstar under cover of diversionary battles, then use their Charms to subvert the populace within.

The Abyssal Exalted (strictly NPCs) are…an enigma. Sometimes void-pilots have reported strange black voidfighters appearing seemingly from nowhere to come to their aid, savagely attacking the Primordial forces, then disappearing as suddenly as they came. However, such sightings often presage seemingly unrelated disasters aboard Autochthon. Are these strange beings friend or foe?

PCs would be experienced Solar, Lunar, Sidereal, Terrestrial or Alchemical Exalted, built with more than starting points; I don't have the rules nailed down yet. Nor do I know yet how much of the rules-as-written I want to chuck out the window. I'm far more interested in setting, plot and character than I am in motes and ticks.

I am always willing to answer questions by PM, and often available by YIM. I do ask, if you contact me by IM, that you please mention in your first message that you are from Elliquiy and what your username is here; otherwise I am likely to block you as a spammer.

Meliai

I would really like to give Exalted a try (been signed up for a few games around here, none of which actually got started :\ ) buuuuut I've never actually gotten to play a game so I'm a bit worried that diving into an AU sort of situation would be confusing (and of course you guys might not want to have to hand-hold a newbie through this.)

So um...put me down as a .5 on the player count maybe?

Might be a couple months away, but I plan on running a game in February, when Third Edition is expected to release. If you need help with character creation Meliai, I can help work you through things, the mechanics for Exalted get rather easy after a while.

Huh. That soon? Guess I've been out of the loop.

*ponders waiting to start a game until then*

Nah. It'll be years before all the splatbooks are out, so I don't think I'll wait.

ShadowFox89

They plan on having Infernals out by 2014, dragon-blooded out by summer/August of 2013. The plan is something like 2-3 books a year, which is a pretty good production rate.

There's also a new edition of Scion coming out, which is awesome as Scion has needed a new edition for years.
