First of all, this is a sister thread to (Extreme) Evil will always find a way game thread. The other thread has served to attract monsters to a dungeon for a free-form game, where as this thread is intended to serve as a recruiting ground for any would-be-heroes to invade to this realm.

The world needs good and evil. They are two sides of the same coin, and require one another to define themselves. Since the dawn of time, there has been countless battles between the two of them but ultimately neither side could claim dominance over the other. Whenever one side became stronger, the other side would unite to stand against it and push back to restore some measure of balance.

All of that changed when the crusade began many years ago. Evil was chased down, burnt at the stake, and tormented with fire and steel to give away secret lairs and hideouts. Soon, most of the monsters that had been living on the surface had been put to the sword or driven underground. The champions of good followed. Many of them had become greedy and vain, wanting wealth and fame that came with the destruction of their enemies. Some still held onto the virtues in their hearts, but it was beginning to show that world was changing.

Deep underground are the vaults, the monster sanctuaries carved beneath the seemingly impenetrable rock. Its only through the great cracks in the hard stone that entrance between the world below and the realm above is possible. Many of these places have been found, and their so called 'hero gates' sealed, to keep the monsters contained deep underground. Sometimes brave crusaders even venture down there to fight and destroy the threat once and for all, but it seems many vaults lay scattered, and its been hard for the heroes of the crusade to find and seal -all- of them.

After years of trying however, it seems that they've run into a problem. Recently, the construction of a seal upon the Hero Gate was interrupted by a swarm of dark creatures that tore apart the builders and the heroes overseeing the construction, slaying them without mercy, as if driven by the wrath of the Dark Gods themselves.

Worse yet, the grand mages that have served the Crusade by scrying for information on monsters above the deeper layer of impenetrable stone come up with no answer, just a cold, chilling feel of being rejected by something below. Word is spreading that this particular Hero Gate leads to an unconquered, untameable dungeon, one where the favor of the Dark Gods has allowed evil to not only survive but thrive in the time of the hunt.

The heroes are gathering, and many seem eager to claim this honor for themselves for destroying this dungeon, and the whispers also spread it might be the place where the doomed monsters went to hide all their incredible riches. Greed is a powerful motivator for some, and whispers of wealth and fame have drawn people to the kingdom above this unsealed gate.

Evil will always find a way

This game is inspired by game series such as Dungeon Keeper and Overlord, and its fundamental idea is that sometimes, Its good to be bad. The players take up the roles of monsters (the other thread) and heroes (this thread), but their behaviour is upto themselves. Just as heroes can become corrupted, glory-driven murderers or truly be champions for the common people and guardians of the innocent, so can the monsters simply fight to protect themselves and their family, or seek out foes to amass wealth and glory that it brings.

This game is mostly freeform roleplay, while a character sheet was requested it is to help have a concept of what your character can and cant do, as well as introduce your character to other players.

As the game's "Dungeon Master" I take it upon myself to play the Avatar of the Heart, and possibly run some NPC interaction at times, but the idea is that the players interact with one another, and players can roleplay out the events within the dungeons with each other. Some players have taken up the idea of playing heroes, and may be caught entering the dungeons where who knows what fate awaits them.

I am considering recruiting a 'Co-DM' to play a role of a 'Human King' or 'Human Queen' on the world of the surface, near the 'Hero Gate' down into the dungeons. Doubtlessly the two sides will be in conflict, but massing an army down there seems like a suicide with all the traps that may lay in wait for a mass of soldiers, so sending a few more capable individuals seems undoubtedly a better option. Better yet if the royalty only pays for success, and lets the heroes keep the loot they might find.

Oh, the game is intended so that there is freeform playing rather than dice-rolling, and it was even suggested the players might post up thoughts on what kind of scenes / partners they might be interested if caught, setting things up so, or it could be played free-for-all style. Anyhow, this is to see what the interest is on the player side for Heroes.

Character sheet below.

[float=right][/float]
Name:  (Please use a little imagination, and preferably avoid using names blatantly ripped off your favorite stories)
Race:  (Human, elf, dwarf, halfling, gnome, amazon, etc. All kinds of fantasy hero races, or even some 'converted monsters' perhaps, though the reasons should be clear why converted, and would be dependant on co-dm / dm approval, just to avoid 'overflowing' with only this type of heroes.)
Class:  (What your character is called by others, "Knight", "Priest/Healer", "Wizard", "Rogue", "Bard", "Troublemaker" for example.)
Best Ability:  (What your character does best, like 'Swordsmanship' for a Knight for example, or "Sneaking" for a rogue, "Fire Spells" for a mage)
Least Ability:  (What your character can do but not so well, "Disarming Traps" For a stealthy but 'clumsy fingered' thief? "Melee Fighting" for a bookish mage that barely knows how to use that staff to defend himself? This is not a 'total lack of ability', but what your character can do, but not so well.)
Gender:  (I dont think this needs much clarifying?)
Preference:  (Preferred gender of the partner, preference to dominate/switch/submit/ not participate in domination/submission, etc.)
Ons:  (If preferred, just leave out and direct to your O/O page)
Offs:  (As above, but could be useful to mark up the quick-list of things you are not agreeing to)
Appearance:  (At least a paragraph, please.)
Background:  (Same as above, please provide at least a little text.)

Black Howling

Really fond of this part... A character will probably be coming shortly, likely when I get off work tonight as I only have about thirty minutes left before time. Also, I'll be willing to Co-GM with you if you find yourself in need of it. Those sort of posts tend to take less energy from me, and I manage them quicker. Go figure...

Vergil1989

I can't get a CS up right now since I'm stuck on my PS3 but you have my PM so you know I'd gladly lend a hand should you need it.  For now I will say I'll get Giselle going for this eventually but for the moment Cecilia is all I got for the moment.

Ramael

Interested...but cautious of it just turning into a "heroic girls getting gang-subbed by various monsters". No offence, but I've seen a couple go that way before.

As a potential "hero", is there enough plot interest in this game rather than simply potential for raunchy non-con biznezz? I wouldn't want to invest in an heroic character, build one up, get down to the Hero Gate, only to find on the other side heroic and paladin-level ladies getting gleefully taken against their will by creepy denizens of the night. Would kinda disrupt my motivation for the plot.

Dont want to sound negative, just looking for more clarification. Looks like you have a great game going on, a mature development of Dungeon Keeper. I like the morality skewedness of it.

Vergil1989

I don't think you have anything like that to worry about but I can appreciate your concern Ramael.  I'm pretty sure there's gonna be plenty of fighting and plot to avoid said gang related subbing of characters, but that's just my opinion.  We have a dark knight following orders supposedly given to him by his god, a vampire seeking revenge for her twin, and other things of the same for most of the others as well.

#5
Name:  Giselle Do'Urden
Race:  Half light elf/half Drow
Class:  Ranger/Spellslinger
Best Ability:  Swordsmanship mixed in with some lower level spells.
Least Ability:  Trap making.  (She can do so but Giselle prefers to rely on other skills first.)

Gender:  Female
Preference:  Bi so it doesn't matter.  Switch
Ons:  O/O
Offs:  O/O

Appearance:  Deep, ageless brown eyes, a very beautiful face, scars all over her body from her long and warrior life thus far, mostly small however.  A lithe, perfectly toned frame that is both graceful to behold as well as exotically beautiful given her mixed heritage.  Silver gray long hair that flows down her back in lustrous waves or sometimes pulled into a tight ponytail, depending on her mood.  She has two peircings, one through the hood of her clit as well as another in her belly button, both simply small metal studs.
Background:  A century ago, Giselle Do'Urden, with the help of her current love affair, ran into vampire trouble.  They managed to slay a vast number of the undead nightmares, freeing the surrounding countryside from the evil that had gripped the land for too long.  Even so, their actions would have surprising repercussions down the line, but now, in a new world and doing her best to help those here as she had back in Toril, the dark elf/light elf half breed wields her father's blades just as she had for two hundred years now for all the right reasons.  She's not in this current expedition for the gold or the fame, but merely to see that no more innocent bystanders come to harm.  Besides that, she has heard rumors of one of the vampires that had escaped coming here and finding her way deep underground.  That kind of evil in her mind shouldn't be allowed time to recover and garner more power behind her if she has anything to say about it.

CarnivorousBunny

I wouldn't worry about it, Ramel.  There are a couple of serious evil characters that have very strong motives that do not involve carnal activities.

Hm, maybe I should come up with a heavily motivated character as well.  I think I'll make a chaotic good hero :D

I can't honestly think of an ability that Giselle's not all that good with lol.  I've made her to be a bit of a well rounded warrior with specializations in swordsmanship and some spell work perhaps, but really she has a bit of everything in her arsenal I just realized.  Now I can't decide what to do for her blank spot lol.  Anyway Bunny, I'm eager to see what you got in mind considering your last awesome character.   ;D

Do you plan on playing her as a true gish or as a primary warrior with a few spells thrown in for shits and giggles?
Pretty much scrapped my signature because everything in it is hilariously out of date. I might work on fixing that eventually.

CarnivorousBunny

Maybe you should put something like alchemy for her weakness? Or first aid.  Based on what I've read so far she seems to be more offensive than a support type >_>

Hihi thanks! :D Now you're making me blush ^_^

I figured out a weakness for her and to answer your question Rheagar, she is able to use spells beyond the whole shits and giggles range.  Nothing overly powerful or anything, mostly chain lightning, Melf's Acid Arrow, Magic Missile, things like that.  No giant ass meteors coming out of the sky or anything like that lol.  Minor healing but she uses more herbs and potions and stuff to do that anyway.  Her strength however is in her ranger training, able to track, sneak, and slay enemies in nearly an environment but she favors the woods and wild places of the world rather than dungeons and caves like her Drow heritage would suggest.

Blasty spells? Even more wasted on a gish than on a typical spellcaster. :P

Go with stuff like Stoneskin, Steeldance, Mirror Image, Animalistic Power, Heroism, Haste, Celerity (god the broken-ness), Vampiric Touch, Dimension Step/Door...

*Is a small-time D&D 3.5e optimizer and loves gish to death.*

Oo, Rheagar's right! Spells to pump her fortitude and abilities in combat would be better.  She'd be a total bad ass tank, haha

Although that was what I was planning to do for my hero... xD I'll think of something else.

Haven't heard of half of these spells myself, and I even have the I think newest addition of the Spell Compendium too on my Adobe Reader lol.  Haste I could use but that'd be almost overkill in her case since Giselle's just as fast if not faster than her father in terms of swordplay.  Heroism I haven't heard of, Stoneskin sounds like a given, Steeldance is another unknown to me, Celerity never heard of, Mirror Image sounds easy enough to figure out, and Vampiric Touch is a no no for her since Giselle would rather die than suck the life out of someone else no matter the means.  That's a dark spell in her opinion, and thus one she'd never touch.  Dimensional door however is one I've used a few times, mostly to help get around more than anything lol.  And no you still can Bunny since I don't plan to change my gal's style just to suit some DnDer's opinion on how she should be according to stats and all that crap lol.  I appreciate the input, don't get me wrong Rheager, but she's already established more or less in my mind as she is now, and I don't think I'd be able to change her spell set without working her over from scratch kind of thing.

Heroism is in PHB I. It gives a +2 bonus to just about everything you have to roll for.

Steeldance (SpC) requires a focus of two bladed weapons. For 1 round per caster level, they float around you and make one attack (each) per round with a bonus equal to your caster level plus your casting stat modifier.

As for Haste, it should be legitimately impossible to be faster than Drizzt.

Celerity is in broken spells' greatest hits and Player's Handbook 2. There are three versions; Lesser Celerity, Celerity, Greater Celerity. They grant, respectively, a move, standard, and full-round action when cast as an immediate action, and in return you're dazed on your next turn. The flavor is that you're reaching forward and grabbing some time from the future to use now.

This video I'm putting up showcases how I see her able to fight.  While Giselle is certainly acrobatic, there is absolutely NO wasted movement as Prince Nauda can be seen doing in his demonstration of his own skills.  However, that doesn't make it less cool or anything by any means lol.  Regardless however, while she's certainly capable of using other weapons, the twin scimitar style is her favored way of fighting.  I'll probably have her carry an enchanted long bow along with a matching quiver of enchanted arrows but beyond that an assortment of throwing knives on her person will be enough I think.   ;D  She's the daughter of a legend, and as such she has some of the best equipment one could hope for, but she's earned the rights to said gear through hard training and even harder adventures.

From 1;32 to 2;45 is the best example of how I see Giselle able to fight.  The rest is just extra coolness from an awesome movie lol.

And only if Drizzt is using the mithril bracers he took from that weapon master's dead corpse will I believe that to be true.   :P

Lol it's rather sad when I know exactly what you mean since I'm just as nerdy when it comes to the actual stories and stuff more than the actors/actresses or stats in this case when it comes to movies, books, and stuff in the same category.  I haven't read the old Drizzt books for a while now yet I still remember in great detail the vast majority of his life up to The Ghost King, which I will say to those that haven't read it that you might not like how it goes if you've read all the ones before.  Beyond that, I won't say any more.

Don't worry about it Rhaegar, if you're going to be D&Ding all over any place at all, you're in the right one.  I wanted to get in to D&D myself, but my friends and I never found a proper DM.

We've got two offensive types (including my future character), both of which cast spells.  I'm thinking of making a monk-like class, minus the assumed lawful attitude or inner calmness.

The inner calmness you're stripping out is imperative to a monk's success if you ask me.  Cadderly's wife, (can't recall her first name at the moment,) is a prime example of how badass a monk can be lol.

Or the endless suck of a monk? (Seriously, anyone who knows what they're talking about will tell you that they're executed horribly. Statistically, Unarmed-Variant Swordsage is a much better option for the same fluff.)

Hmm. I don't feel like playing another heavy warrior. Maybe a gun-fu type, but with throwing weapons? That's a build I've actually wanted to play in 3.5e haha. Not that strong, but it'd be cool.

Bro, that's exactly my point though. The monk class, as a metagame construct of statistical abilities, is awful. The concept and fluff (which is mutable and can be applied to whatever statistical ability set you damn well please) is not.

That's why I'm not making him a monk, rather something similar.  He'll have a similar style of fighting but different motives, among other things.
