Slow burning because I still have a fair few other things up in the air, but I'm greedy and I wanted to see what kind of response this will get. So I imagine this will take a while putting together, no rush here.

Taking from the world of Ocarina of Time, and the imagery of Twilight Princess, I have this story in my head about our Hero of Time...and his brothers.

Imagine a sequel plot of OoT, set in TP, add more realistic violence, love triangles, archetypal nightmares, rampant sex and every emotion of the human spectrum.

The characters in bold are playable characters so far. I have one more definate playable character in the works, and another possible, depending on how much interest this gets over time.

My plot goes...
The land of Hyrule was saved by Link, with the help of princess Zelda and a few others, and Ganon was banished into his nether dimension for another period of time...who knows for how long.  Now Link spends his time between the castle of Hyrule, where his lover and soon to be wife Zelda resides and rules over her people, and his old home, the Kokiri forest, where he is still welcomed by his elven friends.

It is a well-known fact that while Link was plumbing the depths of dungeons buried beneath the forest and scouring various temples, his two brothers were doing the same to the limit of their powers in different parts of Hyrule.

Berum, his brawny, large, dark-haired younger brother had used Kakariko village as a base, and helped the Gorons fighting back the hordes of scaly beasts pouring forth from the volcano. Berum is a gentle giant, until angered. He carries the huge double handed blade known as the Goron Knife, and his maroon clothing is bolstered with thick armour. Berum, upon arriving in Kakariko, met the lovely and buxom Malon, the good-natured farm girl who has an affinity for animals and worked tirelessly on her ranch despite the regular raids originating from Mount Doom. The two have a simple and near-blissful life on the farm now, regularly popping up the mountainside to visit their Goron friends (more since Berum was made an honorary Goron, to his pride and Malon's mirth).

Saror, Link's leaner and wiry elder brother with jet-black hair had taken Zora's Domain as a base, earning himself a place amongst the proud Zoras by plunging the depths of their sunken temples and mobilizing the elite Zora guard into a guerilla force agains the invading hordes of creatures coming from the watery depths. When he met Princess Ruto, the two took an immediate dislike to one another, an enmity that eventually turned to a begrudging respect, and then flirting...the rest is history, save it to say that the Zoras mate for life and Saror is now set to become the first non-Zora royal, by way of marriage. The two have a happy relationship when they can see each other, Ruto's time being taken up by the snooty Zora Council (none of whom look very kindly upon Saror and his new position) and Saror himself often giving into his wanderlust and visiting the lands of Gerudo. This doesn't go down very well with Ruto, as she knows Saror trained there, and once had a passing relationship with one of the infamous female Gerudo thieves, who supposedly taught him his dynamic and dangerous style of fighting.
Whilst they love each other, their relationship is strained.

A few years have passed, and now...now darkness threatens the land again. But this is something unlike anything seen before. Link and Zelda have contacted the Sages in their sage realm, but it is nothing to do with Ganon. Strangely enough, evil monsters are still pouring forth from Mount Doom, dark aquatic hybrids are welling up from the depths near the Zora's Domain, and creepy, shuffling creatures have begun attacking travellers in the Kokiri forest.

Confused, the brothers still rush to their posts, gathering their native fighting forces and organising them into battle lines. For this new evil isn't attacking randomly...it is attacking en masse and it is organised. Whilst Malon's heart is torn at watching her beloved march off to battle once more, she is filled with pride at how he is respected by the Gorons and how he has an aptitude for battle thinking and logic, despite his normal thick-headedness. Ruto is immediately plunged into debates with the Zora Council, who rebuke Saror's right to lead any Zora force against this new unknown evil, something of course the reckless Saror ignores as he leaps into battle at the head of a group of aquine warriors.

Princess Zelda obviously wants to help Link as he travels back to his home forest once more, but Link convinces her to stay with her people whom she rules over, and who adore her. Apprehensively, worried both about her man and about the significance of such strong attacks across Hyrule coming at the same time, she meditates, and is beset by horrible visions about a girl split in half by a tree.

Marshalling the quick and nimble Kokiri elves into archer teams and booby trap specialists, Link takes the fight deep into the forest against the new monsters, some familiar, others definately not. As he fights his way towards the Forest Temple, the hero of Time can sense he is nearing the heart of the evil. To his eternal surprise and horror, however, what he finds isn't an offshoot of Ganon's power, nor is it a curse to be broken or plague to be cured. The mastermind of the attacks on the forest is his childhood friend...Saria.
Once a sage, now for some reason having taken that power and binding herself with the forest, she has become an incredibly powerful dryad-mage, able to turn the entire forest to her whim. She has a score to settle with Link, some past hurt that lies unresolved. She is passion incarnate, a wild and dangerous entity that Link has no idea how to defeat or to neutralise.

The heart of the other evils, at Mount Doom and Zora's Domain, have yet to be discovered, but thanks to Berum's might and Saror's cunning, these two other brothers are getting very close...

I will add to this and refine certain points as time goes by. This is definately still work in progress.

I'm worried that Malon is a little underpowered. I appreciate that girls don't mind playing a character like this, but I was apprehensive about exactly how much she would get to see Berum during the course of the RP. Ruto and Zelda have enough incentives and abilities to travel, or to go save their men.

I hadn't thought about exactly who were the other two nemeses at Mount Doom and at Zora's Domain (can't be other sages, would be too tacky and it doesn't fit in with what I have in mind for Saria). I have plotlines in mind involving Gerudo bandits marching on Hyrule castle, including the one who Saror used to love, I have plotlines in mind involving lord Jabu-Jabu (imagine the Kraken...now imagine one man controlling it) and I have plotlines involving that creepy well in Kakariko village. This one is quite important, and...dark. Very dark.

Thoughts, ideas, comments, criticisms, questions, all welcome.

EDIT: Quick character summaries.

Berum: Hearty and good natured. Think Camaron in the Dragonlance chronicles. Loves a good meal, loves his Goron buddies, and loves his girl. He views all her oddities at the farm and her doting on her horses with affection. Although he doesn't admit it too much to Malon, he also loves a fight. Venerates Link, and worries faintly about Saror.

Malon: Healthy country girl. Loves seeing her man wolf down a meal she cooks, loves her farm and pours all her energy into every little task. Everything she does she does with care and affection, and even the smaller skittish wild animals have an affinity for her.

Saror: Eccentric and impulsive. Takes the ire of the Zora Council on the chin, views their hostility as a challenge. Has a blemished but happy history with Ruto (he won't admit freely to his brothers that it took a Zora to tame him). Quite introspective at times, he often thinks deeply about the nature of good and evil. He tries to analyse those he fights often to the point of endangering himself.

Ruto: Efficient and feminine. Growing up as a girl princess, she quickly shed her youthful naivety in the face of threats to her people. Has a good relationship with Zelda, as they have similar tasks in life. Although outnumbered by the Zora Council, she is definately not outgunned. Her cool demeanour is quickly replaced by a crushing anger when challenged, against which only Saror has the courage to stand upto. Knows Saror sometimes better than he knows himself.

Zelda: Glamorous and knowledgable. She is a paragon to her people, who are incredibly enamoured of her, and her betrothed, both heroes of the triforce. She has power and magic at her command through the triforce of wisdom. She is often the first to be councilled on disturbing matters of any kind. Looks out for her people first, but always has one eye on the entire continent of Hyrule, keeping in good communication with the other two races.

Link: You know him from lore. Courageous and honourable, Link is widely praised as the hero of time. Luckily for him, much of the rebuilding of Hyrule fell to his far more organised girlfriend after Ganon's defeat, something which mildly irks Zelda from time to time. Although he likes Hylians, he prefers spending his time in the cool glades of Kokiri and its ancient trees and boughs, relaxing by fishing and playing music with his old friends. He is still a very formidable fighter, throughout all Hyrule, only his brothers have bested him in combat, and even then it was close. Link is the midway between the burly Berum and the wiry Saror. He has a past, like everyone does, but unfortunately for Link, a heros past can be quite important...

SariaSee her description where I mention her in the blurb above.

Doomsday

Looks like fun. I'm torn between Saror or Berum... Link is the obvious choice.

Ace Flyer

Yeah, I'd be interested as well. Link or Saror...Kinda leaning toward Link, to be honest, just because I don't think I could play faithful to staying loyal to Ruto...Though if Link is taken I can play Saror.

But that would be good for plot twists if Saror didn't stay faithful!

Or do you mean in that Ruto's a bit fishy-looking? I always steered away from the fin-heavy look in my personal vision of her...in my head the Zora males look like that but the Zora females resemble smooth-skinned turquoisey human women with quaint little gills and tiny fins on their wrists and ankles. I'm sure there are some sexy visions of Ruto on deviantart or similar. In fact, I might look for some.

Well, in that case, Saror might be rather fun.

And yeah, it was the fact that Ruto is, well...I'd say more than just a bit fishy-looking. It just may be a bit too tempting to have a Gerudo there on the side and leave the fish at home.

Psycho Mantis: You must spend every day pretending to act like you're falsely letting on that you aren't not unbetraying someone you don't not purport to allegedly not work for but really do! How do you keep all this shit straight without having an aneurysm?
Revolver Ocelot: *shrug* Practice.

Ex68471

I am very interested in this. Preferably either Berum or Link.

Are you going to make more characters for this?
Experiments 68469, 68470, and 68472 were perfect successes.
I am Experiment 68471, the catastrophic failure!

My Ons and Offs. Still a work in progress!

Attention: Everybody
I have horribly unreliable Internet. If I am on and suddenly am not, that is the most likely reason. Sorry! :D

Ramael

Ex- I'll wait before at least 80% of the character slots are filled before putting up some other characters I have in mind.

Pend-I think you're the first person to shout for Berum, so he's yours, but bear in mind this is going to take a while putting together.

Plus, we have no ladies yet!

Character search still ongoing.

If anyone has any ideas for the plot, or any questions, feel free.

pendarious

cool thanks. and i don't mind waiting. *starts laughing like a goron*

Hmm... interesting. How would this game play out with all of the characters? It seems more focused on the fighting than anything else....

Zelric Miras

I find this quite interesting, haven't seen a character I would like to play and hasn't been claimed though. Humbly, I offer ideas for the nemeses.

For Mount Doom, a Goron that lost his/her family to Volvagia, enraged because Link wasn't fast enough. Volvagia's spirit offered him/her a deal, lending him/her it's power and teaching arcane magic to him/her in exchange for Link's and his brother's souls for a ritual to bring Volvagia back to life.

For Zora's Domain, a broken hearted Zora who was in love with Ruto and got shunned first in Link's favor. Once it was clear Link wasn't returning, his relationship with Ruto grew, but he was once again shunned in Saror's favor. He happened to stumble across an artifact in the ice cave that gave him power enough to command the creatures.

Anakira

Sup guys, chick here. I could play either Zelda or Ruto...I could probably play a better Ruto, though everything in my childhood wants me to take Zelda. :c Have you got any more indepth on how you would want Zelda to be played? Is Ruto still the Sage of Water?
It doesn't make any sense, this tragic ending...
