net book and head set

What I would like to do is get my head set working with my net book so I can skype with someone.  It only has one plug in hole with a headphone symbol on it.  Will the mic part still work if I just plug in the headphones?  Is there any way I can get this to work?

I'd say your best bet would be to invest in a split adapter, or if your netbook has a USB port, you could get one for that - something like this
