Ok, so I’m a fan of action, and of a good Science-fictional setting. With that in mind I’m curious to see if anyone would be interested in a role play set in the WH40K Universe. As far as the specifics of the role play itself go that’s open for debate. I have several ideas, ranging from freeform to systemed, that I’d be willing to throw out here and see what catches interest. And I will do so. If some interest is show. :D So if you’d like to hear more just say so on this thread. Also suggestions/questions are more than welcome.

The Unholy Potato

I think I'd enjoy participating in this, but it probably depends on what the game ends up being, exactly, as WH40K is a ridiculously expansive setting.

For what it's worth, if we ended up leaning towards a system, allow me to volunteer that I'd be willing to run a game of Rogue Trader or Dark Heresy (though I am a bit more enthusiastic about the former).

Opheliac

I find that Dark Heresy is much more balanced than Rogue Trader, as Rogue Trader has classes that are literally nothing for 4 ranks (Namely, the Rogue Trader class). I love the universe though, and I would be more than happy to play in a 40K game.

Paladin

Umm dude I recomend Dark Heresy. it IS the WH40K universe. I know. I own it all and I play the miniatures. I just can't wait till gencon hits so I can get the spacemarines stuff.

DeviantMunster

I like Rogue Trader! But I also like Dark Heresy too~ Though... a freeform game would be most welcome as well. *ponders* It's difficult to decide. For some reason, WH40K system games have died pretty quickly here, for whatever reason.

Cold Heritage

I would like to state tentative interest IN THE EMPEROR'S NAME.

I'm in an RT game right now, and the player of our RT bemoaned that his character was essentially an item that gave us +10 on rolls. Of course, the character's aptitudes are towards social things and she's quite handy in ship-to-ship, and all we've done so far is get in a shootout with some bad guys (Boltgun on Full Auto is so $$$$) and jump a pair of mooks (my Arch-Militant grappled one and everyone else shot the other at Point Blank). We've also never had to make an Awareness check that we haven't failed . . . so it might just be the dice-roller hatin'.

If we go freeform I wanna play a Black Templar or Flesh Tearer.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

If this is freeform I'm totally doing an inquisitor lord or a grey knight.

Ok, so here are my story ideas It should be noted that the pictures are not necessarily what the characters will/should look like, nor do I care not for what sex you are compared to what sex you wish to play, and I don’t mind you playing multiple characters (as long as you can do so well) . I’d like to ask that all interested vote for their favorite 2 of the stories below, the one with the most votes will be the one we do.  Also I’ll be able to fill any unwanted/left over rolls as well as whatever I choose to play.

The Inquisition:  Miranda IV, An Imperial hive world, who’s industrial capabilities have been for several generations focused on the creation of cutlery for the Imperial Guard, strategically unimportant, and boasting only a minimal PDF force. Miranda IV has never known the horrors of war, nor of any other form of strife that is so common throughout the worlds of the Empire of Man…. Until now something has come to Miranda IV and made its home in the under hive of Miranda Prime, Miranda IV’s capital city, stories have begun to spread. Of bodies horribly destroyed, of sabotage, of evil quickly swept under the rug by a fearful planetary government. These stories have not escaped The Inquisition. Who in its wisdom have sent an Inquisitor (along with his retune) to investigate the problem, accesses the danger, and should it be needed, eliminate all traces of whatever taint has grown on Miranda IV.
Key Roles to cast:

Inquisitor: Open
Inquisitor’s Retune: (Between 3-5 characters)
Planetary Governor:
PDF Commander:
Something Dark and Evil: (Chaos forces, Necrons, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, ect ect)
Lieutenants of our Dark and Evil leader: (between 3-5 characters)

Trapped:
A failed attack on a Chaos Cult world has left large numbers of Imperial forces scattered on the planet. What few Imperial landing zones remain are busy with the process of pulling out as much material and men as they can so as to deny them to the archenemy. As the Imperial forces begin to pull out of the system to regroup and re-plan the window for escape is slowly closing. Anyone left on planet when the last troopships depart will be left to their own fate. Those scattered forces who are able must now attempt to make it to the extraction point before time runs out.

Key rolls to cast:
Imperials: 2-6/7ish characters from almost any Imperial force/group (So long as you can reasonably explain why they are there/why they are potentially getting left behind. I.E. a guardsman makes much more sense than a Space Marine Chapter Master).
Chaos Forces: Large numbers of enemies/traps ect ect(that I’ll most likely illustrate/play unless someone else REALLY wants to), between 2-3 significant Chaos followers who are actively hunting the Imperials (I.E. a CSM, Possessed Marine, Abnormally strong Cultist ect.)

In The Guard:
Life in the Imperial Guard, it is hard, it is cheap, and it is fleeting our story follows members of the 3rd Platoon, of 4th Company, of the Yuktobonian “Lucky” 7th combined regiment. As they are sent from theater to theater, War to war, battle to battle, will they survive? Will they earn their glory? And a peaceful retirement?

Key rolls to cast: (It should be noted that some Imperial Guard regiments include both male and female troopers. The “Lucky” 7th is one such regiment)
Platoon Leader:
Commissar:
Platoon Sergeant:
1st Squad leader:
Assorted 1st Squad members: (anyone not taking one of the above roles)
Various enemy forces: (they will fight several different types of enemies and I’m more than willing to share the fun/job of portraying the ‘bad guys’)

Captives:
Captured, taken, enslaved. Several Imperial citizens and warriors have been taken by the Dark Eldar, and transported to the Dark Eldar’s fortress city, hidden deep in the Webway. With little or no hope of rescue they must hold onto what little hope they have. Will they attempt to escape? Will they break under the whip and become loyal slaves to their Xenos masters? Or will they start a slave uprising, the likes of which will shake the walls of the city itself?

Key rolls to cast:

Dark Eldar Archon:
Dark Eldar Wych cult leader:
Dark Eldar Haemonculus:

Captured Imperials: 3-4 captured characters. Once again any Imperial forces are ok as long as you can explain them/portray them well.

Let it Burn! :
Nexos VII a planet on the outer edge of the Empirum, a calm peaceful place, similar in climate and environment to what records say Old Terra was like, at least until today. Today war is clouding Nexo’s skies.  Several enemies of man have landed on the planet for their own reasons, only to be met by the forces of the Empire, each one intent on securing the planet for their own reasons. Only one side will come out the victor, which will it be?

*notes* Has the potential to be the biggest/most ambitious of the stories, it would also be the most systemic. With us employing the WH40K system (I know it quite well so I’d have no problem GM’ing, I also have the ability to provide values for each player/make sure everything is balanced) very similar in nature to Dawn of War (if you remember the game) with several different armies fighting for the same space. Each player would either command their own group or be part of another player’s group. The scope of the role play could be either the entire theater of war, or possibly smaller forces from each army seeking to secure the same strategic location, either way should this story win the vote, we shall decide then *notes*

Key Rolls to be cast:
Several different commanders: (no more than 1 per ‘army’ for instance Space Marines and Imperial Guard would be separate armies)
Commanders Lieutenants(optional):

I am fine with whatever.

But a Dark Heresy game might be intriguing too.

Urbanzorro

Ok so that's one whatever vote, and I've recieved a pm with a vote for "Inquisition", and "In the Guard"

So the current numbers are

In the Guard=1
Inquisiton=1
Captives=0
Let it Burn=0
Trapped=0

'In The Guard' and 'Let It Burn' are my two votes. I'd like to play as a tank commander in the first and probably an Ork nob, or maybe the Ork warboss, on the second. Big booms or more dakka.  :D

My only problem is that Im not keen on systems. Personal preference. I have a W40K core rule book on hand with me but I never get the chance to use it for anything except inspire a few stories.

Ive got enough knowledge to GM if we decide on using WH40K as the system. I personally prefer free form as well. As I see it, If it comes to it being a systemed game It will be semi-systemed in the sense that conflicts in which the players can't agree upon who would win/what should happen. Would revert to using the system while players who can agree don't have to use it. (I find this method allows the flexability of a freeform game, while still being fair) and the current count is

In the Guard: 2
Inquisiton:1
Let it burn:1
Captives: 0
Trapped:0

Alright.... after looking at the votes, and then looking at each story objectivly I feel that "Inquisiton" is the best choice, due to the fact that it offers the opportunity to play as something other than an Imperial, and allows for a bit of stablity (with 'bases' ect) as opposed to constantly changing scenery ect ect, If this game goes well and if there is still interest I'd be more than happy to host other games aswell. Hopefully everyone can be happy with this choice :D

That having been said it's time for character creation/role claiming. So as to keep this simple and fair the roles will be on a first post first serve basis. For instance if two people want to the the Inquisitor, the first person to post up a playable character sheet for him/her gets the role. Hopefully there won't be any disputes.

SO without further adue I give you the character sheet.

This is my character for the part of the "something evil" .....I'll have a list of the open roles out in a second.

Name: Varo
Age: Very Very Old
Sex: Male
Status: Minor Chaos Lord
Looks:

Wargear: Power Armor, Jump Pack, Plasma pistol, Bolt Pistol, Two Power Axes
Bio: Originally a member of the Alpha Legion, Varo has recently broken ties with his former battle brothers, and has decided that his fortunes are best suited to working alone, in the shadows, building his own empire from the ground up.
He worships Chaos Undivided and strongly believes that the Chaos Gods have blessed him, which they very well may have given his tendency to emerge the only survivor from situations that should have ended him.  He has come to Miranda IV with one goal, to make the planet his own, strip it down of everything useful. From machines to slaves, and move on using what resources he can garner from the world to prepare for his next move in his grand scheme.

Fighting Style: Varo prefers to use his jump pack to keep ahead of his opponents, moving quickly, striking out with punishing blows from his power axes at close quarters, and using his plasma and bolt pistols do deal with any foes at range.

I had a Night Lord done up in the style of a Chaos sniper (think Vindicare), using the kai gun as a deamonic sniper rifle. In one of the Dark Heresy books there is a psychic power that gives you chameoline level stealth. That, plus a fondness for sabotage and poison ... all nice terror causing, invisible death stuff  >:)

I don't think so. They still have the acid spitting, three lungs, two hearts, bulletproof skin, breathing in space, blah blah blah. Or they did the last time I checked, anyway.

Though, if you're going fluffy (aka "Movie") marines, the inquisitors are so boned it doesn't even begin to be funny. Maybe I'll play mister meltagun for just that purpose. >_>

Okay, yeah. I don't think it'd be very interesting playing against an Alpha class psyker. They blow up titans with a thought, sometimes they even destroy planets. Removes most of the conflict, unless we're going to be pulling in Culexus assassins and stuff.

You want a real fun gun?

Graviton gun. Only really seen in the hands of tech priests these days, but anything you zap with this immediately weighs ten times what it used to. Great for dealing with unstopable armour plated killing machines, and hilarious for zapping skimmers.

Oh, yeah, it's a whole bucket full of fun, but I'm rather... skeptical that it'll be massively effective against Marines, even with their powered armor. It's hella heavy, yeah, but the more chaos-touched ones can punch guns off of tanks and ridiculous stuff like that. They're like a Space Marine's Space Marine, with gribbly bits.

Still, I appreciate the advice, and will certainly keep that possibility in mind, though I'm not sure I'd want to model a character around a fancy gun.

Are there going to be horror elements, gory fighting, romance, and diplomacy/politics involved in the game? Or are we going to focus more on blowing the living crap out of each other?

Opheliac

Name: Esra Sheillkar
Age: 431
Sex: Female
Status: Chaos Sorcerer Lieutenant, Delta class Psyker

Looks: Thin and pale, with abnormally odd color hair, Esra seems like a frail, fragile creature. She has no tattoos, and no insignia of any kind, binding her to any one flavor of fell power, but she writhes with pure psychic energy. Her armor is light in comparison to a Chaos Marine, but effective against most human firearms, the black leathers plated with ceramite underneith. She carries no guns, and instead depends on a force sword capable of extending itself with chain links, controlled by her psychic powers.

Wargear: Ceremite leathers (Equivilent to Best quality Xenomesh armor), Tal-Faern the Living Blade (Force sword capable of extending itself similar to Ivy from Soul Calibur's sword), Best quality Photo-contacts, Vox bead, Gruesome Talismans (Chaos Charms)

Bio: Esra has been a prodigal psyker all her life. At the age of 5, she was taken by the Black Ships to train her to become sanctioned, but the ritual could not hold. The Powers that Lie Beyond forced the sanctioning ritual to appear to bind her, and allowed her to train as a young girl. She quickly became very powerful, the Primaris Psycana eventually decreeing her too powerful for her own good, and tried to have her killed. All that remained of the anti-psyker kill team had to be removed with high pressure hoses from the walls and cielings of the complex.

Many centuries have past since then, and her power has only grown. Dealing with various Empyrean denizens, and the Powers themselves, she has decided to play as a neutral party, a mercenary to all sides.

Fighting Style: She uses her telekinesis powers to block, disable, maim, and otherwise force people up close to her, where she then unleashes Tal-Faern the Living Blade.

Psychic Powers:
Minor:
     Space Slip
     Open Wounds
     Call Item

     Telekinetic Crush
     Telekinetic Weapon
     Telekinetic Shield
     Force Shards
     Storm of Force

It seems about right.  So far, our foe is a budding Chaos Space Marine Lord and an alpha class psyker/sorceror.  According to fluff, either one could flatten an Imperial Guard Company with no sweat and a Regiment with some effort.

Now that I'm thinking about it some more, maybe a Deathwatch Librarian?

Well Esinhorn could go toe to toe with the alphaclass. Most Inquisitor lords can.

Why an Astartes from the Deathwatch? An Inquisitor can have reason enough to request aid directly from a Chapter Master, without having to poach from another Ordo's (I'm assuming that Paladin's character is from the Ordo Malleus) Chamber Militant, and even receive it. It might make more sense than asking to borrow a dedicated alien hunter to fight Chaos.

*blinks* Well, that totally sucks >.< The entire voting procession done in a matter of few hours while I was away... *grumbles* I'm a little confused on something however... what exactly is the plot of the game, precisely? Are there going to be horror elements, gory fighting, romance, and diplomacy/politics involved in the game? Or are we going to focus more on blowing the living crap out of each other?

YES.....I want this to have an actual plot with actual character development with romance, a bit of horror, maybe some gore, diplomacy ect ect.

The idea is you have the evil chaos minons out to take over the city, an inquisitor and his retune out to simply stop the taint and then a planetary govenor and his military commander trying to simply save the planet. Ideally there would be alot everything above, I wouldn't want this to be simply about lineing up and shooting at one another. Does that answer your question?

Hmm I was hoping for In The Guard to win the vote but I guess Ill sit with this one. I may be interested in one of the Chaos positions. Khorne Berzerker, perhaps, but their lack of subtlety may not be very suitable for the story. I would otherwise be interested in the PDF military commander.

I also have this idea to play out my interest as an Ork somewhere in there, but I cant come up with a good enough reason for him to be there. Maybe he could be having some sort of deal with Chaos or some other.

Well, since Orks are pretty much only interested in the fight, maybe the Chaos lord had promised him lots of it when the take over begins? I could make a smart big warboss or nob like Gorgutz in the first game and let him be 'temporary allies of convenience' with the Chaos forces. Say he could have crash landed on the planet with a few of his boyz, and since he found no other Orks to be there, he had to do something to save his skin until he could get away.

I was thinking about going tyranid, and i wondered. Do tyranid have individual thoughts? I know, their all connected to the hive mind, but i always thought it was much like, the geth in ME. Many minds seeing and hearing the same thing, but not necessarily, thinking or feeling the same. Now if that is the case i could actually play a tyranid connected to the hive mind. Tough if its a mindless puppet, i lose all interest in playing one. Choas and Space marines are nice, but my favorite is the Tyranids :P

Almost every time you see a Space Marine in an Inquisition story, he was seconded from the Death Watch.  I'm assuming this is because directly requesting aid from a Chapter Master would take longer and there are not guarantees the Chapter Master would cooperate.

No my dear an untouchable would not. Read the Esinhorn books for more information but if a full unbound daemonhost can't psychically touch an untouchable then an alphaclas wont do anything either. Untouchables are just that. They are psychicl blanks that powers do not affect.

Unfortuantly my dear Tyranids are not even remotely playable. Thaey are like a swarm of locust eating everything in their path only in this swarm ever individual creature is actually linked to a greater mind. They are beasts witha a hive mentality. Great enemies... not so great PC characters.

I've read the Ravenor and Eisenhorn books. I enjoyed them greatly. Alpha class psykers CAN blow through even Untouchables (With a bit of work). Only an Alpha class Untouchable could counter, but one has never been found. An alpha class untouchable would make entire continents psy-void, instead of just a few dozen feet. Most untouchables that have been found are either delta or gamma class. They themselves are void, and they distort the area around them for about 50 feet or so. If im not mistaken, Eisenhorn tried to use the best untouchable he had at the time (the untouchable school mistress person thing, Im blanking her name) to try to void out the command console of a Chaos Warhound titan. She failed, and is in a coma. Daemonhosts, while powerful, are nothing compared to an Alpha psyker.

And as a side note, the only tyranids that can think for themselves are Genestealers... They can talk, you know. :) Still doesn't make it a good idea to play one though. :P

Urbanzorro

The problem with playing nids as an actual PC is that they don't really have any of the motivations most people are used to playing, even in genestealers there isn't really an individuality/self preservation, at least no more than would be needed to make it sneeky/useful for its purpose to the hive mind. That having been said, in a bit I'll be releasing an update on the story (fleshed it out a bit better) as well as a bit of a statment on the direction/tone I'm hoping to capture in the story.

Ok so it occurred to me last night that I left a few things quite vague when I first stated the storyline we were going to use. With that in mind I’d like to elaborate on the following:

Focus: I’d very much like to see the focus of this role play be on the actual story/interactions/thoughts/feelings ect. of each character rather than simply becoming a ‘you line up on that side I line up on this side we talk for two posts then spend the rest of the game shooting’ type thing.  Ideally the rp would be about 85-90 percent story/interactions/planning/sneaky stuff/investigating (you know the fun stuff). And 15-10 percent actual stack um up shoot um down action.

Plot: Alright the plot is pretty simple and I think I did an ok job of conveying how it was originally envisioned but given that I’ve come to realize that a few people don’t particularly want to find themselves on either the Chaos or Imperial side (such as Orks, Genestealer cults ect.) I’m considering one other side comprising of a leader, and his/her main follower. I’d like suggestions/opinions on whether this sounds like a good idea? And as for what the side should be if so. I very much want everyone to enjoy this role play, both because that’s what role plays are for and because I want it to lay the groundwork for other WH40K rps. Also it should be said that the ‘bad guys’ aren’t launching a major offensive, they are being sneaky, they don’t have the numbers to launch a straight up war, they are hiding, biding their time, setting things up to topple the government/planet from the inside out.

Motivation: Here I’ll list what I see as the motivation for the characters that I see as being the main storyline drivers……. 1: The Inquisitor, He is out to remove whatever taint is on Miranda IV no matter the cost, he cares little for the planet or its people and is more concerned with keeping whatever is going on from spreading….. 2: Imperial Governor and his PDF Commander, they want to save their planet. They realize something is going on in the hive city but want to stop it without blowing the whole place up, as such they are a bit at odds with the Inquisitor if for no other reason than they know the Inquisition’s reputation and don’t wish to see Exterminatus enacted on their home……. 3: Chaos Leader, he is out to take Miranda IV at any cost, with an emphasis on loosing as little of his forces as possible…… 4: (Possible) Other leader, he has the same motivation as the Chaos Leader and as such is against the Chaos Leader wanting the planet for his own reasons.

Characters: While I fully realize this is WH40K and EVERYTHING is over the top I’d like to ask that we please keep our characters a bit on the lighter side. As a player of the table top game I can tell you that a Warboss, or a Chaos Lord or any other leader unit is an absolute badass if used correctly, but on the same note if you sit him somewhere without cover. Three squads of Guardsmen with a missile launcher heavy weapons team each will grease him before he can even touch them. So I guess what I’m trying to say is please don’t make them into army killers because I really don’t want to have to outright ask anyone to downsize their character.
With that in mind I’m thinking of imposing some limits on abilities/wargear, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Conflict:  It’s going to happen and  it should be fun when it does. Ideally I’d like to see most if not all of the conflict be freeform simply because it allows for greater creativity, but when people can’t agree as to who should be the winner a system will be needed. For such occasions I’m thinking it would be best for the system to be used to determine the winner, and then have the actual action be decided freeform. Are there any objections to that?

Well that’s about it. I realize I got a bit longwinded hope everyone is still interested, will be eagerly awaiting some replies/seeing more characters.

Ive been working on my character for a while now. Finally decided on using the ork character idea and I'll be done with it soon. After a bit of inspiration and research brought on by HairyHeretic, I've decided on an ork Freebooterz Kaptin.  :-) Whose side I'll be on I do not know just yet.

I think that another side would complicate things but if it helps to bring on a more interesting story, why not? The Dark Eldar could be interested in taking the planet for slaves. Necrons awakening from the depths of the planet's surface. Imperial Guard defectors could plot a hostile take over. Maybe even a discreet Blood Axez Ork invasion or Eldar incursion. For each their own, their situations would be very similar to that of the Chaos side, under manned, under powered and waiting for their time to strike.

No objections to anything else otherwise.

Name: Kazthrull 'Gut Stabba' Gabrukk
Age: At least 300 years
Sex: Obviously male
Status: Kaptin of Da 'Ead Smashas Freebooterz
Wargear: 'Eavy Armour, Krusha' Jawz, Mekboyz Kustom Eye Targetta', Cybork Implantz, Mekboyz Wrist Computa', Kommando Warpaint Camouflage
Weapons: Kustomized Big Shoota (shoulder mounted on armour, backpack ammo feed, palm operated trigger), Kustomized 'Eavy Slugga (modified stormbolter), 'Gut Stabba' Big Choppa'

Bio: Biggest, meanest and greenest of Da 'Ead Smashas, Kazthrull never saw himself as 'un-orky', even as his former clan mates accused him of such during his time with the bigger clans since he thought differently. He was a Blood Axe to begin with but being frustrated with his identity among them, he had switched over to many other clans such as the Evil Sunz, the Bad Moonz and even the Goffs over many decades and many Waaaghs in dozens of worlds. He was never satisfied with being in any of them, because most of the time he kept thinking of why the boyz fought with over which orky philosophy was best. Why not just put them all together and go across the depths of space in one massive Waaaagh? Besides, he enjoyed bashing humie skulls in more than bashing in some git who thought it was funny to punch him in the face. He had always enjoyed the squishy sound humie heads made. Sounded much better than a gretchin's too.

When he proposed this to the warboss, he was tossed out. He thought that Kazthrull was thinking 'smarter' than him and he did not want him around for the sake of his pride and standing as 'da smartest' in the clan. Kazthrull was not daunted by the exile and instead of mucking about, he brought together as many orks as he could from every clan that he could find, bothering to grab only 'da bestest and da smartest' in their specialized fields, hijacked an Imperial ship and his 'Ead Smashas were born, proclaiming himself the Kaptin. Life as a Freebooter from then on was tough, bringing him under the employ of many employers, forced to follow their orders under contract, but the fights were plentiful and he could do anything he wanted without someone else saying anything about it. Da 'Ead Smashas gained a significant amount of infamy among many factions under his leadership and they were hired for many jobs ranging between the direct to the subtle. They were also known to change sides on occasion, depending on who could provide the better fight and not caring about loyalties, politics or morals. Kazthrull had made sure that he and his boyz made no strong attachments to any side, the only trust they know being among each other.

A certain time at a certain place, Kazthrull ran into problems. A job brought him to the Miranda system to stealthily eliminate a Dark Eldar infiltration group. He led his boyz to victory over the ship to ship battle, but his own vessel was critically damaged by a last ditch attack by the Dark Elder leader. As the mekboyz onboard could not fix the damaged hull, he was forced to abandon it and dropped all the surviving orks and their equipment onto the surface of Miranda IV. Knowing that this was a humie world, he thought smart and kept his 'Ead Smashas hidden in the shadows of the undercities, until he stumbled across Varo and his Chaos followers. With the keen interest of survival and opportunity for a big fight, he struck a deal with the Chaos Lord, joining his ranks as a Lieutenant in the fight for control against the Imperium. In exchange, once the deed was done, he and his boyz would be allowed safe passage off-planet.

Fighting Style: Kazthrull is like any other ork, brutish, merciless, dedicated to the fight and lives for nothing more than the fight. When in an open combat situation, he wastes no time to let loose whatever weapons he has on him and attempt to charge straight into close combat where he can do the most damage. Although frenzied in said situation, he isnt stupid, never forgetting to assess the battlefield, employ war tactics, and command his minions. When in a sneaky combat situation, he will try his best to stay hidden and ambush his enemies like his Kommandoes, a.k.a. to him 'smashin' der 'eads in', with chopz and dakka. In the event that he knows he and his allies cant win, he will attempt to beat a hasty retreat, the common ork logic of always being able to come back for another go.

Paladin is not alone!

Name: Theophilus "Theo" Rourke
Age: 43 Terran Standard years
Status: Former Administratum Adept in the Service of the Inquisition
Gear: Common Green Robes, Backpack, Bio-sample kit, medical kit, Auto-quill, Data tablet, Tome, Mesh Armor
Weapons: Compact Plasma Pistol, Compact Auto Pistol, Compact Las Pistol
Biography: Theophilus Rourke believed he was destined to wile his years away inside dusty Administratum archives, as so many other Adepts had in the past.  This brought about that most human of emotional states: boredom.  As he filed away records and reports that would never be read, he would take a few minutes to read some of the random tomes he could find: a book of medicae knowledge here, a log of a Rogue Trader's knowledge there.

Over the years, he continued to absorb this knowledge.  His knowledge grew to a point where he could instantly and correctly recall the answers to all sorts of questions from history to philosophy to science.  This caught the attention of the Inquisition, who wondered what possible proscribed information he might have.  Although he had read nothing forbidden, his intellect and investigative research ability were deemed to be very useful and thus he was "volunteered" for the Inquisition.

Although he does not care for how he came to the Inquistion, he does enjoy the challenge.  Although a decent shot with his pistols, he prefers to leave the combat to those more predisposed to it.  His true weapons are his mind and his tongue.

Black Dragon. So are they a chaos army?

Kiric Rand

nope, they are a loyalst chapter

they are genetlicly mutated (but tolerated), or what they called cursed foundings, Chapters that were attempted to be founded after the heresy using new geenseeds. The Black Dragons mutation involved bone spurs that grow from their elbows that they sheeth in adamantite and use as close combat weapons (in addition to what they already carry)

Kinda odd to see no one interested in playing as either the governor or the PDF commander. If those spots are left unfilled, I may make a second character for the sake of the story going smoothly.

Here it is! Lacking gear and such, of course.

Name: VeronicaVermillion
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Demeanour: Sanguine

Divination - “Die if you must, but not with your spirit broken.”
Sanctioned - Hypno-doctrination

Biography: The birth of young Veronica Vermillion was not a pleasant event, characterized by much pain and suffering. Her father, Dominic Vermillion, was noble born, having lived on the Imperial World Hydraphur, within the Imperius Dominatus. Yet the peaceful lifestyle he lived there (if it could be called peaceful) wasn’t exciting enough for the young man. In the end, his curiosity and desire for more led him on a path to space travel, and eventually the grim title of Rogue Trader.

Flash forward several years to the Argumentum, a Dauntless-class light cruiser. Upon the vessel, her father, a now well established Rogue Trader, began the journey through “the Maw”, a dangerous warp route that passes through the Great Warp Storms separating the Calixis Sector from the Koronus Expanse. Worse yet, his wife, Isabella Vermillion, was nearing the end of her pregnancy. He assumed they’d have adequate time to make it to the end of the journey, yet she soon went into labor aboard the cold halls of the ship.

Despite the powerful Geller fields installed upon the Argumentum, unnatural things still did happen, like the pre-mature birth of their daughter. Despite the many medical personnel aboard the ship, Veronica’s birthing was anything but pleasant. Her mother went into convulsions of pain, and soon nothing they did could manage to keep her conscious. Moments later she died. An utterly grief stricken Dominic stared blankly at his wife’s corpse, yet he would be damned if both his wife and daughter died that day. With some precise cutting, his daughter was safely extracted from the corpse and hurriedly placed in a safer and more sterile location.

Solace Encarmine, a cultured and still swiftly developing pleasure world. Many Rogue Trader families existed there, as did many noble households wishing to expand their power in the new Koronus Expanse. Veronica’s father was one of these, having established a large estate on the planet while sending his fleets to explore and chart more of the new sector. The pleasure planet was, unfortunately, heavily corrupt, even some Slaaneshi cults being present. It didn’t help one bit that it was surrounded by multitudes of Death Worlds and War Worlds to boot. Despite this, his daughter remained relatively safe from such dark influences, at least until her 8th year.

There was much opportunity to be had in the Koronus Expanse, yet some people simply weren’t patient enough or courageous enough to risk such endevours. A particularly spiteful noble family by the name of House Lucard. The increasing success of the Vermillion family, as well as the fact that not once did the established Dominic ever visit any of the “parties” (excuses for large orgy fests), ended up in a powerful grudge. Hiring a Void pirate captain, House Lucard made certain that the young Veronica was kidnapped and taken successfully. An enraged Dominic suspected the involvement of House Lucard, yet he couldn’t prove it and thus had to negotiate with the pirates and their outrageous offers. To make certain that Dominic’s fleet never located them, they established a discreet foothold on Krakskul within the Undred-Undred Teef area; unfortunately, this would lead to their downfall.

No one could avoid orks forever, especially an untrained crew such that the pirate captain used. What resulted was the sudden massacre of many of those in the camp, and the utter destruction of the attempted escaping vessels, leaving a lone, young child within the burning camp. A small warband of Crak Skulz were the devious looters of the place, and she was soon located by the hulking Ork boss known as “Humie Crusha.” None had seen such a young and small humie before and Humie Crusha was almost offended at the idea of killing the girl, yet he swung his fist at her nevertheless. And thus, he gained first hand experience with what a nascent psyker was… at least until he was suddenly sundered on the spot, body unraveling in a rain of gore and flesh. And so the new Crak Skulz’ boss came to be born.

After being tormented for months, Veronica took advantage of the Orks that were stunned by the display, quickly picking out the largest among the lot before commanding him to pick up the ex-Boss’ equipment and done it. With slight surprise Gutz obeyed, only to be surprised further by the young humie’s desire to be picked up and placed on his shoulder.

A humie leading a band of Orks was considered considerably “un-Orky,” yet any band that even dared mention those words next to the name of her group would suddenly find themselves in a bloody war of dominance. Surprisingly, the young girl showed massive determination, and after a few years of learning various tactics through both successes and failures, she was able to slowly increase the numbers and powers of her group. She even began to pain herself green, and her once yellow locks turned into a  much whiter sheen as the years passed by.

Gutz grew over the passing of years, yet he remained the ever loyal Ork, seeing the considerable power the young nascent psyker had whenever someone challenged her. No one stood a chance, and the name “Insta-Deff,” eventually became her name. While she slowly became more “Orky” over the passing of time, her father remained firmly rooted in her mind, and she couldn’t help but desire to find him again. As she reached her 14th year, her nature had changed dramatically, and her language was the least thing to suffer. Nevertheless, her uncontrollable psychic abilities did allow her to adapt relatively well to the Ork Waaagh!. Eventually, however, she knew she had to find her father again, and the only way to do that was space travel. Thusly, she devised a plan.

Tusk was a brutal world, a battleground for bosses and warbosses to duke it out and prove their worth. Here, she knew, would be where she could overpower another Ork and thus gain a bigger following. With that, she’d have more teeth at her disposal, enough to potentially buy a vessel capable of navigating the warp more effectively. And so she gathered several of her best kommandos and Gutz, had a downed dropship slapped up, and set course for the planet called Tusk.

Yet, she wasn’t the only one moving to action. Her father, after receiving no more contact from the pirates, eventually leading him to hire more and more mercenaries to find information, anything about his missing daughter. After years of searching it payed off, one of the mercenaries discovering rumours of a girl Ork. Deftly, his mercenary band continued to research this bit of information until they discovered, to their own surprise, that this girl matched the relative description Dominic had given. Once the Rogue Trader discovered this, he made immediate plans to extract his daughter, and thus did he end up raiding that dropship.

It was a brutal battle of supremacy, the young girl viciously fighting off the invaders with her Ork companions, yet the sheer determination of the attackers to simply extract the girl allowed them to succeed. Where a knockout gas would never work on an Ork, Veronica was still very much human, and despite how hard Gutz fought, she was eventually “rescued” and transported to the Freighter. The dropship and Gutz were never destroyed however, the sudden knowledge of ummies within their area of control bringing many Ork ships to the area, though the freighter still escaped.

Describing the amount of sheer happiness and pain involved in their reunion would take considerable amounts of time, though she eventually did get situated back in her home, having to re-learn most of the etiquette she’d dropped during her stay with the Orks. More troubles came however, when her father simply couldn’t keep her daughter’s powers a secret, things happening completely by accident and when she was particularly emotional. He did, however, pay off a certain individual charged with sending psykers to the Imperial Capital of Terra, ensuring she wouldn’t be one of those sacrificed. So did her journey as an Imperial Psyker began.

Now, many years after the events of her childhood, she’s a sanctioned Psyker, working on a distant planet to help stave off chaos as well as to assist with domestic affairs. While she plans on inheriting her father’s merchantile empire, at the moment she’s satisfied with learning and exploring more of her considerable latent psychic powers, as well as serving the Imperium of Man.

Im perfectly fine with giving up the Inquisitor Retinue slot should somebody else wish to play. :)

Name: Sister Clarice Antellei
Age: 51
Sex: Female
Title: Inquisitor Retinue, Sister Hospitaller of the Order of Sanctity

Description: Sister Clarice stands around 5'8", and weighs around 144 lbs. The woman is not frail in any sense of the word, her body toned to near perfection from both training in the Schola Progenium, and in the Adepta Sororitas. Her raven black hair is kept short, bangs just reaching the bridge of her nose, the rest the length to her chin. Eyes the light blue color of glacial ice seem frigid to her enemies, but are kind and gentle pools tho those under her care. A tattoo of the fleur-de-lis in red ink floats on the crest of her cheek bone, just below her right eye. No scars mar the porcelain skin of her face, but there exist many upon her arms, legs, chest and back, from both combat and punishment. In the comfort of her modest room appointed to her by the Inquisitor Whitefire, or in the halls of the Apothecarium, she wears a simple white orderlies dress, with silver veined corset and hood. Her battle plate, worn only during missions with the Inquisitor, is stark white enameled ceramite, with robes chased in silver with ever so tiny embroidered fleur-de-lis, a gold aquila eched across the busom of her chestpiece and left pauldron. The right pauldron is red enamel, the silver fleur-de-lis embossed behind a smaller gold shield, the caudecus etched into the shield. In robes or in powered plate, her right forearm carries the symbol of her office, the Narthecium, and around her waist is a portable Diagnosticator, Rosarius beads, and her Litanies of Faith.

Bio: Orphaned at a young age, parents dying in the war for Medusa V, Sister Clarice was handed to the Schola Progenium. Life was tough, as she was not one of the brilliant young minds sent for the training needed to become future generals or inquisitors or commissars. Clarice had to work and study hard to keep afloat. She prayed hard to the God Emperor, blessed is His light, nightly before bed, and daily after morning ablutions. The only trouble she was ever in was after the Lord Progenia's favorite kell hound was accidently hit by a passing vehicle, and Clarice was found trying to nurse him back to health without informing the school masters and mistresses. At the age of 12, the Adeptas Sororitas recruited her, and shipped her off to Ophelia VII for training. The temple planet was both inspiring, breathtaking, and terribly horrifying to her, for while the entire planet's crust was covered in beautiful shrines and palaces and training grounds for only those who's faith is unerring in the Emperor, if one listened carefully in the right places, you could hear the screaming of the tortured heretics held in the dungeons below. Sister Clarice did not falter in the slightest however, blossoming into a courageous fighter on top of a practiced apothecary, joining the ranks of the Order of Sanctity as a Sister Hospitaller. Currently on assignment for the last 7 years as religious tether and field medic for Inquisitor Whitefire, she has grown accustomed to being without other Sisters, and depending on those she serves with as friends.

Wargear: Adeptas Sororitas Power Armor, Narthecium, Diagnosticator, Rosarius power shield, Litanies of Faith, Combi-flamer, frag and krak grenades, Chainsword, datapad.

Combat Style: Sister Clarice knows that the role of the Hospitaller is that of combat support, and field medic. She drags people to safety at tends to wounds immediately if she can.

Psh, Space Marines are overrated. With a good force blade in the hands of a Psyker with a large psy rating, it'll cut through power armor as if it were swish cheese~

Basically, the PDF commander is the highest general of the army on the planet. PDF means Planetary Defence Force. You would only answer to the Planetary Governor, Inquisitors, and Imperial Guard Lord Generals and higher.

Cardwolf

If anyone else wants the commander go ahead, I'll be thinking of a character in the meantime though.

Miles Trent

Theres a lot of things about the PDF commander that can be done since he/she is a high ranking military leader responsible for the defence of the entire planet. It goes without saying that he has absolute control over whatever the planet defence forces does, only answering, as Opheliac has pointed out, to the Governor, the Inquisitors and various higher ranking generals such as Lord Generals.

Of course, being a powerful high ranking officer, he/she may be involved in various political and social aspects of running the planet besides dedicating his time to organizing his/her army, such as running official offices and assisting the Governor in a multitude of duties. He may even be a diplomat or a statesman if the Governor allows him to have such powers. In the story, these options might open up some interesting ideas to do with political and diplomatic intrigue or scandals, if you so choose to include them.

That's actually the reasion why I chose to list the planetary govenor and pdf commander as actual main characters, it allows for quite a bit of intrigue/illustration that sometimes the imperium works against itself. pitting the 'cleanes this place' attitude against the 'but this is my home we need to save it' attitude

the problem with that is you gotta hit the SM first. And I know they looks slow but under all that armor are bionics and genetic upgrades and power cords and myomar sinues that make the guy in the armor as good as an olympic athlete.

True! But considering psykers can substitute Willpower for weapon skill *at least game mechanics wise when they have the telekinetic discipline* makes their attacks quicker than even most humans can keep up with~ *noddles*

Full armor
Name: Brother Alexander Prescott
Age: 138 (although Space Marine genetics make him appear much younger)
Sex: Male
Title: Inquisitor's Retinue; Vetren Assault Sargent 1st class of the Black Dragon Chapter.

Description: Not much can be said about Brother Prescott when he is incased in his power armor. He stands massive, even for a Adaptus Astartes, and an impressive 7'5", and has a very large build compared to humans. His armor is pitch black with white hearldry and markings that dipict him as a vetren of hundreds of battles. the most noticible feature, however, are the numerous small bone spurs extending from his forearms and elbows. then appear to have been sharpened and sheeth in adamantium, and Brother Prescott is well versed in their leathal use.

Outside his power armor, He still poses a intemidating figure. A bulky, musclear build is barly contained by the megar clothing he chooses to wear. He has close cropped, blonde hair, strom grey eyes, and numerous scars across his face and body along with a ridge of bone spurs on his forehead. A small silver stud perices above his right eye, marking 100 years of service. He has a tattoo of a black dragon coiled around his neck.

Background: Brother Prescott doesn't remember anything before being inducted into the ranks of his chapter. His life had been a constant blur of battle sence that day though. It wasn't long into his service that the bone spurs he now uses formed from his body as a result of his geneseed. He is a very devout figure, beliving that these same spurs were a gift from The Emporor so that he may further strike down those who oppose him.He fits the mottif of the black dragon perfectly, peacful and docile while at rest, terrible and wrathful when awakened. He revels in bloodshed. His main care is to prove to any who would doubt him or his chapters loyatly.

Equipment: Astartes Power Armor, Power Sword, Bolt Pistol, Crux Terminatus, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades, Melta Bombs, Iron Halo

Name: Shaddam Doctorai III
Age: 93
Status: Planetary Governor
Looks:

Bio: Born the fourth son of his father Leto Doctorai, it was fully expected that Shaddam would never ascend to rule the planet, but as the years passed and Leto began to grow old and older his mind began to break more and more, until one day in the height of his madness he gathered all of his five sons into one room and declared that the next planetary governor would have gotten their by earning the title.

He went on to explain that the one to inherit the throne would be the only one of his sons left alive, they were to fight one another for the title, they were to use intrigue and espionage, the tools of any good ruler, they were to eliminate each other in order to gain power. With that he sent them all out of the room.

The next three years saw ‘accidental’ the death of four of Leto’s five sons, with Shaddam being the only one left alive, the very day after the last brothers funeral procession Leto ‘passed away in his sleep,’ and Shaddam assumed the post of planetary governor.

Though mad, his father had been right, the man who assumed control of Miranda was nothing like the boy who had first been called into his father’s chambers, he was cold, collected, sly, and knew how to look at the big picture. He knew how to play the political game, and more importantly how to win it!

The reports of ‘strange activity’ in the under hive did not fall on deaf ears, Shaddam has been doing all in his power to both quell the disturbances and keep them out of the eye of the greater Imperial government, but his efforts have failed, the Inquisition has been called in. Through the correct use of paperwork and bureaucracy Shaddam has managed to make it appear as if disturbances were reported to the Inquisition as fast as was possible. He now awaits the arrival of the Inquisitor, planning how best to keep himself in power over his world, and how to keep his world a world rather than a dead ball of rock.

Wargear: Refractor field, Inferno pistol-Digital Weapon(Family Crest Ring), Bionic-digestive tract, Needle Pistol, servo-skull, two PDF bodyguards.

Abilities:
Lookout!.....AAGGHH!! : In the event of a mortal blow being launched against Shaddam, one of his two bodyguards will give his life for the governor’s. By diving in the path of the attack
Bionic-enhanced immunity to ingested poisons

Fighting Style:  Shaddam prefers to avoid personal combat, but when it is unavoidable he has been known to stay behind his bodyguards using them as both firesupport and human shields, snapping off rounds with his pistol, no one who has not worn the Doctorai crest ring knows of its secret, Shaddam as no Doctorai has been forced to use it yet, should Shaddam find himself cornered or without his guards it is likely he will use all the tools at his disposal.

Alright, here are the links. I'm opening the threads for posting now. Those of use on the Chaos side of things will be starting in the underhive which will be the Chaos side's base of opperations, those of us on the Imperial side will be starting in the throne room which will serve as the Imperial base of opperations. That having been said at this point neither side is capable of assulting the other's base. The Chaos forces simply don't have the strength, and the Imperials don't know who is causing the trouble, much less where they are. Any conflict that does happen would happen in the Greater Hive at this point, though right now story wise the Imperial's would be focused on trying to get things organized as the Inquisitor Arrives (which is where things will be starting off), and Chaos is simply trying to cause havoc/gain more support/build its forces from the underhive. I'll be sending pms with these links to everyone as well as any individual balacing changes that need to be made. Hope everyone has fun!

Fighting Style:  Shaddam prefers to avoid personal combat, but when it is unavoidable he has been known to stay behind his bodyguards using them as both firesupport and human shields, snapping off rounds with his pistol, no one who has not worn the Doctorai crest ring knows of its secret, as no Doctorai has been forced to use it yet, should Shaddam find himself cornered or without his guards it is likely he will use all the tools at his disposal.

CHAOS

Abilities:

Space Marine Physiology: Granting him all the power and abilities of a Space Marine.

Summon Daemons: Can call on the gods of Chaos to aid him, should any of them be listening he will be granted a number of Chaos Daemons to command, these Daemons must enter the physical realm through a living host, the Daemons which are able to enter depend entirely on the host used. For example a normal human being, willing or unwilling, would not be able to support the summoning of a Greater Daemon, and would only be able to open the door for lesser Daemons, or Chaos Spawn.

Fighting Style: Varo prefers to use his jump pack to keep ahead of his opponents, moving quickly, striking out with punishing blows from his power axes at close quarters, and using his plasma and bolt pistols do deal with any foes at range.

Keala Mensha Khaine

#173
Player:
Kaela Mensha Khaine

Name:
Octavian Von Hazeraoth

Age:
45

Sex:
Male

Rank:
PDF Commander

Looks:

Strong and physically fit, Octavian is in better shape in his 40's then most soldiers are in their 20's. His body shows his age though, bearing many scars from the various battles and encounters he has taken place in. He also bears the mark of the Inquisition just below his right hip. His body beneath the scars is decorated with several tattoos showing his vaunted faith in the Almighty God Emperor, having the Aquila tattooed across his chest and on the back of his neck amongst various other deceptions of the Emperor about his body. He keeps his hair shaved close to his scalp, leaving a little stubble to match that which usually adorns his face. He is missing a few teeth and the features of the upper right side of his face appear distorted due to the fact that he amazingly survived a brutal punch from an Ork. He doesn't mention that the cranial armor plating he has due to an earlier wound probably saved his life, instead preferring to tell the soldiers (especially the female ones) that he was too damn stubborn to let an Ork take him down with one punch and that he countered the Ork's punch with a headbutt of his own which broke the Ork's jaw (which actually was true, again due to the cranial armor).

Disposition:
Usually seems quite angry about one thing or another, often claiming he was forced to 'retire' early. In truth, that is just how he seems to others when he is in a good mood and the confusion is usually cleared up when orders are not followed correctly.

Wargear:

Weapons
Cadian Pattern Hellgun w/ photo sight
Mars Pattern Mark II Sunfury Plasma Pistol
Lightning Claws
Lucius Pattern Ceremonial Power Saber

Armor
Cadian Pattern "Kasrkin" Storm Trooper Carapace
Flak Greatcoat
Lathe-Pattern Refractor Field

Additional:
Cranial Armor plating
Rebreather
Usually has set of 3 frag, 2 photon flash & 1 krak grenades
Preysense Goggles
Vox Caster
Flask of Amasec :)

Bio:
Taken at a young age from the dark death world of Krieg, Octavian lived a life that was harder then most Imperial citizens can imagine. Not only did he survive this harsh life, he thrived and excelled in it. Raised from a young age in one of the harshest environments the Imperium has known, he saw being shipped off to the Schola Progenium as a bit of a vacation. Through years of rigorous training, Octavian grew to enjoy the way his life had taken him, excelling at every task and challenge that was put in his way.

It wasn't long before he was singled out to join the ranks of the Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. He served for several years with the Inquisition, ever training and increasing his skills, proving his worth through the various purity and incorruptibility tests. Soon, he caught the eye of Inquisitor Viudarkth who would take him on several active assignments throughout his life. It was one of these missions that brought him to Miranda IV.

Sent to investigate accusations of heresy against Planetary Governor Leto Doctorai, they had arrived to find that Leto Doctorai was no heretic, but an increasingly deranged and mad man. Not one to just accept things as they seemed though, Inquisitor Viudarkth delved further into the situation to learn that one of Doctorai's sons had been poisoning his father with ambitions to become the Planetary Governor himself. Not willing to let him succeed with his plan, knowing full well that men with such ambitions easily fell to the sway of the Dark Gods, Inquisitor Viudarkth devised a plan to take advantage of the 'game' that Leto Doctorai had set in motion amongst his sons and killed off the corrupted son...letting the others believe that one of them might have been responsible.

With Shaddam assuming his place as the new Planetary Governor though, Viudarkth still wished to keep an eye on the planet, just to be sure he had rooted all of the corruption amongst the Doctoari family, lest he have to return to put an end to their family tree. Using his Inquisitional authority, he placed Octavian in control of the PDF as a 'reward' for service, claiming that it would be a more peaceful and less stressful job would do good for such an exemplary servant of the Emperor. Octavian was not quite pleased with his new post as 'babysitter' but he did as he was ordered, keeping an eye on Shaddam, as well as turning the 'slack jawed eldar trash' the planet had into actual soldiers worthy of the Emperor. Despite how much he would like to admit it though, the years of serving Shaddam were not quite as bad as he had first imagined and he had grown to like him and the planet as well, not that he would ever admit it to anyone.

Combat Style:
Having spent his life growing up on Krieg, raised by the Schola Progenium, and in the presence of an Inquisitor, Octavian has seen his share of fights and horrors that would make most Guardsmen wet their fatigues in an instant. He is fearless, but not stupid and has an extreme grasps of tactics and situational awareness. He is a crack shot with his Hellgun at any range, but is not afraid to get up close and personal when he is able to, using his lightning claws to devastating effect.

Abilities:
Fear Insures Loyalty!: Octavian is no stranger to the tactics of the Commissariat and knows that sometimes...executing a coward is the best way to insure that his fear does not spread like wildfire to the other troops. Not to mention it makes others think twice before disobeying orders.

Angry and Pissed: Common troopers often comment how Octavian seems to have an 'aura' about him that just seethes with anger, as if he is constantly pissed off about something. This makes them tend to shake a bit when giving out bad reports.

Nice picture choice.  The Death Korp of Kreig Commissars are some of the coolest minis FW has in my opinion.

Tharic

Just checking in to see if there's an opening still. It looks like there may be but so far I've read through only this post in it's entirety. I haven't read through the three linked posts.

Last I could tell it looked like there was a Chaos Lt #3 open still? If so, let me know and I can get a profile worked up.

are there any slots open...

Urbanzorro

There are still open slots but at this point there has saddly been little activity in Imperial side of the thread Paladin's post has gone unanswered for quite a while now. So saddly at this point I'm seriously considering declaring the thread dead (simply because you can't have an Emipre of Man vs Chaos war without the Empire of Man). That having been said if their is interest I have no problem starting up something new once my current attempt either starts up or flops (See signature)

Unless they want to take the slots of the other players on the IMperial side. If people arnt gonna post then they have no rightto keep those slots.

Urbanzorro

That's quite true.....if you're still interested in playing then I have NO problem  what so ever with allowing them to take up what ever unactive slots they like. would you be interested in that Rolin & Ironwolf85?

I am still interested as long as I have some people to back m,e up. I can send whoever has not posted for the imperials off on other secondary mission thereby freeing up slots for the newcomers to take.

Urbanzorro

Hmm sounds good, ok....so Rolin & Ironwolf85 feel free to go ahead and post up some characters. If you want an Imperial slot go ahead and post up and Imperial character and if the slot is taken Paladin will send someone who is inactive on some side mission. Right now I'd ask that you please do Imperial characters simply because at this point the game can't continue without them.

Okay, I'll post an Imperial. I don't have time right now but for a very rough high level view what I'm thinking is either a full Inquisitor or an Interrogator (Inquisitor in training) serving under Inquisitor Lord Andreas Whitefire.

Typically if you're familiar with the Eisenhorn/Ravenor series an Inquisitor will be assigned a trainee under them who is the Interrogator. Whitefire however, is not a simple Inquisitor but an Inquisitor Lord. Someone who would be responsible for dozens upon dozens (if not hundreds) of Inquisitors from a jurisdictional standpoint as he would most likely be responsible for the overall well-being (from an Inquisitional perspective) of a large swath of space.

However if you feel a full Inquisitor would be too powerful, that's fine with me. A typical Inquisitor typically has easily half a dozen people in his retinue, while a full Inquisitor Lord could easily have dozens upon dozens.

The Interrogator however, seems like it would not serve under a full Inquisitor Lord, but rather under a "normal" Inquisitor.

Let me know which path and I'll flush out more of the details.

Urbanzorro

at this point I'm thinking either an Interrogator or a lower level Inquisitor, perhaps just promoted/still seeking to train some under Whitefire's tutelage

Here's my bio sheet. Let me know if there are any issues with any of this. If not, I'll begin posting in the Imperial thread..

Name: Markus Eliksar (alias Markus Elizan)

Age: 46

Sex: Male

Status: Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus

Looks: 6'6, 240 lbs of solid muscle. Markus wears his brown hair cropped short with a pointed goatee. He still bears the Praetorian 12th tattoo below his right eye, serving both as a remembrance of where he came from as well as allowing him to slip into anonymity. Markus clearly has a very commanding personality and presence, both due to his size for a standard Human as well as his quick intelligence and wit. A long flourishing cape adorns his shoulders over his dark blue artificer armor.

Wargear: Brand new suit of Artificer Armor with a refractor field and psychic hood, he was gifted this by his parents after attaining his full Inquisitor rank. Master crafted bolt pistol and an ornate power sword. Two gun-skulls, both equipped with bolters hover within two meters of him at all times.

Bio: Markus Eliksar was born on Terra. The son of Flavius Eliksar, current Provost Marshal, directly reporting to the Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites. The Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites is a High Lord on Terra, one of the nine offices represented. Flavius serving as Provosot Marshal is essentially second in the chain of command for the Adeptus Arbites. His father has served in the Adeptus Arbites for the past 214 years on Terra.

His mother, Tatiana Cordova Eliksar is an Inquisitor and assistant to the Inquisitorial Representative. The Inquisitorial Representative is the voice of the Inquisition on the High Lords of Terra. She has served the Inquisition and the Ordo Hereticus in particular for over 290 years.

As the son of two very high ranking individuals, he grew up on Terra, spending his first 17 years under the Scholarium Segmentum, receiving an unparalleled level of training and education anywhere in the galaxy. At the age of 7 days, he was blessed before the Golden Throne itself. Growing up, he learned the political intrigue and backroom plots and twists that accompanied it through his parents dealings. Training in personal combat by the best Terra could offer, even at a young age he was unbelievably formidable.

Rebelling during his teenage years, he fled from home at 17 and boarded a freighter destined to get as far away as possible. Eventually he ended up on the hive world of Praetoria where he spent the next two years falling deeper and deeper into troubles as well as becoming addicted to Obscura. He soon fell off the radar of society, running with various Praetorian gangs to further support his Obscura habits. His physical prowess, combat training and commanding presence began paying off as he enjoyed the gang hab life of wanton killing and brutality. Soon he was leading hundreds of bangers in hive wars and business deals.

At 19, he was caught up in a Founding on Praetoria and was conscripted to join the newly founded Praetorian 12th Imperial Guard Regiment. Giving a last name of Elizan during the Founding, he remained obscured in anonymity. He served the next eight years in the Praetorian 12th, fighting in countless planets throughout the system during that time. He was rapidly promoted to Corporal and then on to a Sergeant. Throughout this period, he never once contacted his parents back on Terra.

At 27, while on Sebastin VI, he encountered a chance meeting with an Inquisitor. His squad was assigned to assist the Inquisitor with anything he may need. The inquisitor realized after several weeks that Sergaent Markus Elizan of the Imperial Praetorian 12th was much more than he seemed. After several more weeks, when the campaign was drawing to a close, the Inquisitor requested the permanent reassignment of Sergaent Elizan to his personal retinue.

It was at this point, that Markus relented and told him who he really was.

Markus was immediately shipped to Terra, fearful that he was in custody and heading towards not only his parents but also his death squad. Upon his arrival, he learned that his parents had been desperately searching for him for the past 11 years and were overjoyed at his return. He spent several months back home on Terra before his mother talked him into joining her as an Interrogator. He served under her very controlling and excellent tutelage for the last 18 years. Assisting to root out heresy, mutation and scourges his role has expanded more and more until finally he was inducted as a full Inquisitor. His mother requested a special ceremony, where the Inquisitorial Representative himself presented Markus with his Rosetta.

Now, six months after receiving his full Inquisitor rank, Markus has been sent to report to Inquisitor Lord Andreas Whitefire on Miranda IV.

Fighting Style: Markus excels at combat fighting, hand-to-hand and weapons training. In addition, his knowledge of tactical situations allows him to often use his environment to his advantage.

Retinue: (All of these will be NPC characters I will utilize in postings)

Purity & Faith - A pair of twin female death cult assassins who have served Markus for the past eight years. (Unlike the death cult assassins Eisenhorn encountered, these two are fully capable of verbal communication) Both are dressed in full black form fitting armor. Purity wields a plasma pistol and a chain-sword while Faith wields a bolt pistol and a chain-sword.

Prioress Helena - Sister Dialogus from the Adepta Sororitas. While a member of the Adepta Sororitas, Prioress Helena is a data analyzer and gatherer, she is not a combat individual. She has served as in that capacity with Markus' mother Tatiana for over 60 years and has been asked by Tatiana to assist Markus on this, his first full Inquisitorial mission out from under his mother's wing.

Roark - Former member of Imperial Guard Praetorian 12th with Markus. They have known each other for over twenty years. Roark tends to handle many of the unsavory items that must be done. He wears combat fatigues and carries a laspistol and shotgun.

Out of laziness to troll through eight pages of posts, are there still slots available, and if so, could I get a rundown of what's been settled on? Cause I've got a big hankerin for some 40k Inquisitorness. Inquisitocity.

Paladin

WEll I know e already have 1 Inquisitor lord and a second INquisitor who's working for him. I don't think a 3rd INquisitor would fit, but Its Urbanzorros game.

Urbanzorro

At this point there is 1 chaos lieutenant, and a few of the inquisitor's retune.

Right now the only plot is the Inquisitor and his retinue vs Chaos in the underhive thing. That was the one picked.

Paladin

OK so who do I need to send away so that the other Inquisitor can jump in?

I approve of his character :D as far as who to send away that's your call I'm leaving it up to you seeing as they are your retune.

Yeah, that I did, though I'd appreciate it if until I try my hand at starting a new one we let this thread die, and posting someone else's billboard on it is not the best way to do that, I personally don't like the idea of advertising someone else's work on a different person's threads without said person's permission, which in this case was not given or even asked for, but I don't want to make an issue of it and I still don't so yeah...I be locking the thread now.
