Hey. This is my first time creating a game world, so it's right now a work in progress. Any ideas would be more than welcome.

I wanted to create a sci-fi/fan game about groups of PMCs (private military companies) that scour the galaxy looking for work, fortune, and fame (and of course, sex).

Elements are borrowed from Mass Effect, Star Wars, Army of Two, with the vibe inspired by the Heavy Metal series. Very sexual, very renegade, very violent combat.

Races can be as creative as you want without going too far overboard. Robots, cyborgs, genetically made humans, all fair game, but I do request primary PCs be sentient and humanoid.

The galaxy this world is in is practically lawless, the republic that governed all the planets totally decimated after defending itself from an alien race. Though the main fleet of this race (still creating it) is driven off, the government itself is crumbled, and only large corporations and organizations have the ability to control planets.

In this world of lawlessness, mercanaries are hired out to play as military. It's literally the wild west in space, where guns, sex, and money are freely flowing.

Still a work in progress, but I'm also open to ideas as well as looking for PC's of both genders.

Xanatos

I could get into this, provided we have some plot. Sex and violence is obviously good but without plot my creativity and imagination just slowly dies until I have to stop playing.

Now for races, do you mean actual aliens or are you referring to just sub-races of humans?

Chreestafer

im in as well if you get this off the ground are you open to ideas?
“The Doctor: This is bad, I don't like this. [kicks console and yells in pain] Never use force, you just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case... always use force!
Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

thanks for your collective interest.

the plot will revolve around an artifact that is key to restoring the government that was lost in the war. the crime lords and corporations are all scouring for this artifact so they can claim control of the core worlds and start a stable government in their power.

all races welcome, but i prefer humanoid. Anthros, wolven derivatives, lizardmen, you name it. They just have to have human-like intelligence.

keep in mind im wide open to any ideas on various corporations, crime lords, and other organizations within the galaxy, as well as ideas for various planets. the PCs of this story will be part of a mercnary group that will be hired out by these various organizations, so choosing a side might become a conflict down the road.

Xanatos

What types of RP are you looking to focus on? Action/violence or are you going to be more open ended allowing for more dialogue and character interaction with the world and so forth? I know we are mercs so that precludes lots of shooting and such, that much is obvious. Are you going to railroad us plot wise or are you allowing more freedom to move around? I am not bothered by either as each can be good in its own way.

As for aliens I might try to make something up or just go sub-human.

Cody

im game though it would be my first group RP...if you get it started lemme know.
Cody has requested an indefinite account restriction.

BlackFistKronos

I'll be doing a general plotline, depending on where everyone is in the world.

It'll just be just a gentle push in certain directions, like the groups having a specific assignment in a certain place. They can feel free to side trek or do something else if they think it'll help in character development.

As far as action/dialogue, I really want it to be about 50/50. I don't want the pace to be hampered down by conversations, but I don't want it to be mindless either.

Chreestafer

yes definitly count me in, im gonna put some good thought into my character so your pretty mush open to any race ideas or the likes? also i might know a few people who interested in something like such

Sounds excellent. I will get to work on a character after my last class today.

Hmm, I'm tempted to mix a very slight amount of magic into my character. Would that be acceptable, or will I get slapped..?

I wanna keep the magic slightly....mild? Like, psionics, or the level of magic in the Warhammer 40K series.

As far as PC races, go to town on imagination. I just request you make them humanoid-like. 2 arms, two legs, the rest is up to you.

Chreestafer

damn i wanted to be a floating magical pop can with 17 heads...thanks for killing my dreams lol

What is the tech level in this world? Energy weapons or projectile based? Shields, no shields? Can we get creative with weapons or stay more base line to what is known along today's standards? Same goes for armor.

BlackFistKronos

you got the vibe of the universe down perfectly Saerra. Go to town!

Other ideas, start throwing them in. I'll say yay or nay.

Techwise, think Mass Effect and Halo. Energy and projectile is fair game, so are material melee weapons and energy melee weapons. Shields are limited, like Halo, and can be worn down with enough or hard enough hits.

Chreestafer

what about things from phantasy star online? have you seen anything from that game?

Yey! ^^ *grins*

Hmmmm..

Can't decide, they are both pretty.
Thinking of having the sword for close combat and be a onehander, and the bulky gun for ranged (duuuuh..)

I'm not much for shields, but would a bit of telekinesis be too much for deflecting shields? Something that can't be used a lot and has to have the 'caster' focused.

Hmm . . . may dust off an old GURPS merc character I haven't played in a while.  I take it cybernetics (limited) are acceptable?

Of course. Go for it.

I think eventually he was a full conversion cyborg, but that was only after a GM gave a few million dollars to a player who knew the system better than he did, and had more sourcebooks.  :)  So, we won't go there.

Name: Markus Davian
Race: Sub-Human (Metalark)
Age: 27
Sexuality: Straight

Description:

Markus is a fairly tall, 5'10”, and well built man; his physique is quite impressive and he boasts strength most would not guess for the size of his musculature. Like most of his race he has dark crimson red hair so dark it borders on being black in some lighting, though in normal daylight one can tell its a dark red. His eyes are a blazing golden orange and are full of intensity and passion. The last feature common with all of his race is his tanned slightly metallic colored skin.

When not wearing his power armor he dresses fairly casually, though, at times he dresses much more suave.

Personality: Most see only his dour battle hardened side but when not in a fight and when relaxing he can be decently pleasant to be around, especially if he wants to be. He does not hide who he is around the ladies but if he really wants a particular female he will play it nicer and smoother if he feels it will net him the woman. He respects women in and out of battle but can be a scoundrel never the less. All in all he is a man who can scrap with the best of them, and is a bit of a scoundrel with the ladies yet still respectful to them at the same time.

Outside of his armor, Markus is a skilled melee fighter, having picked it up during his war time experience and can hold his own in a fight. He prefers ranged combat but is not afraid of getting up close and dirty if need be.

Background:

Augmenters

When Markus was 18 he joined a group called the Augmenters who did exactly as their name implies, augmented themselves. They were into the whole idea of making themselves look different and not just through clothing. They used the ability to get permanent and functional augmentations to become something different. Markus had gotten several in what he calls a foolish time of his life, although he is not actually ashamed or aggravated with his choices though.

He got a tail, his most notable change, and some reflex modifications though he could only get the minor upgrades as the higher tier were strictly military grade. During his short time with the group he was always more reserved than some of his more outlandish compatriots and held back on the augments. Later on in life he would come to almost dislike his tail until he realized he could use it to please the ladies, so he kept it but keeps it low key and mostly wrapped around his waist.

Time as an Engineer/Soldier

Later in life, as a more mature and grounded 20 year old Markus found he was a very skilled constructor of weapons and armor. This talent landed him a job with a highly respected weapons and armor manufacturer who took him aboard and had him design and create for them. This was a great job for him and garnered him a small fortune in a short amount of time as the company placed great value on his skill.

During this time he, however, discovered a love of combat and using the guns he made. He was drafted into a fairly large war which happened between Lark and a neighboring world. His skill was quickly recognized and he was placed in an elite team. Being the teams engineer was hard work but something he enjoyed. However, during his time in the conflict his personality changed. Like many others seeing all the carnage made him a bit darker inside, but not fully, and caused his more youthful exhuberance to fade for the most part. He no longer looked like a teenager, for his looks were youthful, now he looked more like a fighter.

Days of Gray

During his days as a soldier he had earned the nick name, Gray Knight, for his sometimes ambiguous morals when fighting yet his constant compassion towards those in need, especially women. He by no means was a kind and compassionate man through and through, he actually was more a scoundrel and rogue but still just as often as not he would go out of his way to help a woman in trouble.

This nickname stuck with him when he was free from the army and decided to join up with a mercenary company to continue sating his new love of combat and his continuing ability to create.

Markus now spends his days on the move, mostly, going where the jobs and money are. During his free time he beds women, builds and refines weapons and armor, and visits his homeworld.

Weapons and Armor

All of the weapons Markus uses are of his own creation.

FCP Rifle (Focus Charged Pulse):

This rifle condenses energy particles to create a more focused and highly charged particle which is shot in a small pulse of energy. It impacts with great force and is quite lethal, one shot is more than enough to cut an unarmored foe in half or blow chucks off of their body.

The gun has several firing modes, single shot, semi-auto, auto, and gatling fire. Gatling fire mode can cause his gun to overheat after a bit, so he uses it mainly when he really wants to kill someone or needs a constant stream of energy for some reason.

-Spike Charge: This is a secondary mode shot, fired from the second bottom barrel on his rifle. It is designed to cause a power spike in shielding, which either causes the shield to collapse or cut its energy charge by half or so. This mode uses more energy and thus he does not use it often, only when faced with a really annoying enemy.

FCP Pistol:

Same type as the rifle but not quite as strong. Does not have the Spike Charge secondary mode. Has single shot, semi-auto, and auto fire modes.

Black Rose:

This is his short sword, he made out of a black metal alloy which is quite strong. This rests in a sheath strapped behind his left shoulder.

JPA Power Armor (Jet Pack Assisted):

Markus's suit of power armor is quite advanced, as would be expected from a man of his skill. He uses shielding and has installed a sophisticated Jet-pack in his suit. It is not modified to be a constant flight jet pack as he prefers a jump flight jet pack, and mainly because its energy usage is more efficient and self recharging; he can modify his jet-pack for a constant flight should he feel the need, though he cannot do this unless he has the proper equipment and time.

In each wrist section of his armor he has retractable blades which extend several inches out past his fist. They can be used to stab, slash, or even help him climb should he need them. In his boots, right above the ball of his foot is retractable blades as well used mainly for kicking out with.

His armor can withstand several direct hits from normal types of weapons, and can take a few hits from military grade, and as for custom weapons like his he has not felt safe testing it out as he knows how nasty some custom weapons can be made.

His gauntlets can become magnetized, thus he will never lose grip on his guns and or he can climb up metal surfaces. His boots and special spots on his armor are also capable of being magnetized; he uses the spots on his back to hold his guns in place.

Helmet: His helmet is linked to his brain via a connection to a device which sits over one of his temples. This allows him to see a tactical view of an area, no greater than his normal racial eyesight. It does not display enemy locations unless they are revealed on motion sensors or thermal heat detectors. This display serves mainly to allow him to 'see' the field in which he works in.

The helmet can allow for thermal viewing, enhanced night time vision, can block bright light such as from a flash bang.

Shield 'Tower': This is a small device which is laid on the ground and emits a 6 foot tall wall of energy. It basically is an easy means of providing cover. Like all shields it will collapse after to much abuse but its power source is limited, but rechargeable, and will drain itself dry after about five or so minutes.

Metalark: The Metalark are humans who colonized a seemingly M-class planet, Lark, which was more than capable of supporting human life; they got their name from combing metamorphosis with the planets name Lark, Metalark. It was an ideal world and met with high praise and was quickly colonized. All went well, but after two generations, approximately 200 years people began noticing children being born with red hair, orange colored eyes, and a slightly metallic looking tanned skin. At first people thought it was freakish birth defects or a prank but soon it was found out some unknown compound in the atmosphere or water and food was causing the changes.

After much research it was discovered no ill effects came about from the changes, instead it seemed to only affect the genetic code which control outward looks, and it created a faster metabolism in Metalarks. They could process food faster and more toxic foods, though only marginally toxic foods; they by no means had the ability to digest highly poisonous of toxic foods. Deemed safe, people quickly began accepting the change as it was fast becoming the norm on the planet; almost every new born child was born with the new characteristics.

The planet Lark, however, despite being almost completely Earth like went through a period of complete darkness every 5 years and it lasted like that for a year. The native plant and animal life had adapted to survive the extreme cold and the lack of sunlight, and so to did the Metalark, eventually. Their bodies slowly acclimated to where they could withstand temps on average 10-20 degrees colder than the average human could and they gained a measure of dark vision. It was limited to about a football fields length; though with certain technology it can be enhanced to like that of a normal humans “to the horizon” vision during daylight.

Lark: Lark is essentially a Earth like paradise. The world has a substantial population akin to that of the 21st century Earth, but its infrastructure is advanced as any other advanced world. The planet has a fairly strong tourist industry but the world to industrialists who wish to plunder its resources. Larkian government is not incredibly Eco-sensitive but they do realize its necessary to keep as much as they have without just leveling it all in a mad rush for wealth and resources.

Lark in the past several years was involved in a war with a neighboring planet, Ducon, which lasted only two years with Lark the victor. Ducon tried to bully their way into allowing Lark to allow companies onto their world so they could mine the resources Lark possesses, but Lark would have nothing to do with it and so Ducon tried to force the issue but underestimated the Larkian military and Ducon paid the price.

BlackFistKronos

great input from you all. It's gonna be a little tough trying to match the creativity.

With all the diversity, I was thinking that either all the PCs can be part of one large, rag-tag merc group, that way the story can be easier to tell.

I was going to slowly add new clients to the list, so that way down the road, the PC team will have to eventually choose who to more permanetly side with...or maybe they would have gained enough power for themselves to not have to and stake a claim to power on their own.

Cassiopeia

I'm definitely interested and I'm just polishing up my bio now.  So Black, you would prefer for us to all already start on the team?

BlackFistKronos

Im actually pretty open and flexible to ideas, considering this is my first time running an sl. I'll leave it to majority vote.

I can make a pre-made team, and whoever wants to join it, can. If you want to make your own, then let me know.

Cassiopeia

Alright, this may get edited and tweaked but thus far this is my girl -

Name: Ly'Andra (pronounced Lee-andra)
Race: Unknown (sub-human)
Age: 21
Sexuality: Straight-ish

Descrpition:
Face and Body

Eyes and Skin Color

Ly'Andra stands 5'7 and has a slender and agile, yet curvaceous figure.  One merely looking at her outer appearance wouldn't guess her strength or fighting abilities.  Her coloring is exotic with silvery skin which seems to almost change color depending on the light.  Her eyes (both pupil and white) are like glittering jewels, the bright aquamarine standing out in sharp contrast to the light silver of her skin.  Adding to her unique appearance is her silky snow white hair, cascading down to the small of her back in choppy layers.  She usually likes to wear a few braids and twists here and there throughout and occasionally has streaks of color poking through the underside.  If not for her coloring she would look completely human except for her ears which come to almost elvish points.

Her dress is usually reflective of her mood or tastes in that particular moment, selecting things that allow her to move freely but also display her assets (which has typically worked to her advantage).  Rarely is she seen without an exposed navel unless of course, to her dismay, she has to wear armor.  Being highly flexible and acrobatic Ly'Andra feels constricted by armor but will wear it when the situation calls for it.

Personality:  Outwardly Ly'Andra appears carefree and laid back, rarely even seeming nervous during a job or mission, but she's not someone to be crossed.  She is fiercely loyal to the handful of people she allows close to her and if anyone crosses them, or if she is betrayed by one of them, her wrath is swift and furious.  Still she is usually one in search of a good time, and if that includes making money, well, all the better!  She tends to be one unencumbered by other people's sense of right and wrong, or appropriate and inappropriate, sticking to her own internal rules and regulations (ones which she has yet to share with anyone but thus far they've kept her breathing).

Whether species inherent or a special talent all her own Ly'Andra has a penchant for persuasion and manipulation.  She's been known to talk and negotiate her way out of seemingly impossible situations as well as into impenetrable places.  Had she not been on the wrong side of the law she probably could have had a successful career as a diplomat.  But where would the fun be in that?

In combat she prefers to use her mind and body as weapons first rather than just brute force, though she is fully capable of that tactic.  Hand to hand combat is her specialty but her aim is above average as well and she keeps herself well stocked in range weapons.

Background:

Ly'Andra was orphaned at an early age, approximately 3 or 4 (she can't recall exactly), and she has no recollection of her birth parents, let alone her species and homeworld.  After being bounced around between group "homes" and non-permanent living situations for a few years she decided she'd had enough and wanted to take control of her life.  At the age of 11 she ran away and never looked back, hopping on a transport to take her to the other side of the city planet where she began doing whatever she had to for survival.  Inevitably she fell in with a gang who decided she was useful due to her persuasive abilities.  She picked up street life fast, learning quickly how to con people out of their money and how to take what she wanted without paying and without getting caught.

Being so young and living such a life made it necessary for her to become skilled at fighting.  Her natural agility and flexibility gave her an advantage, as did the fact that she was stronger than the average human of her size.  She was best at hand to hand combat, even without weapons, outmaneuvering and outsmarting an opponent twice her size with relative ease and using it to bring them down.  In-fighting was common in the gang, even over minor disputes and her comrades grew to both resent and respect her.

Over the next five years she proved her worth time after time and moved up in the ranks to second in command.  Being that she was only sixteen, however, this secretly concerned the leader as well as some of the other more ambitious members, not wanting to have to give up any control or power to her.  One of her adversaries within the gang saw his opportunity to rid himself of her when out on a job.  Ly'Andra was in the middle of the building, ready to make the grab when he set off the alarm and escaped quickly.  She was fast but not fast enough.  Local security came and took her to a holding cell.  Not one to be fenced in Ly'Andra formulated and carried out a plan swiftly, seducing a guard and escaping.

The first thought in her mind was revenge and so she paid a visit to a member of the gang whom she knew was loyal to her, finding out who betrayed her in such a cowardly way.  Wasting no time she stalked him and waited until the perfect moment when she slit his throat in his own bed, waking him up seconds before so he could look into her eyes as the life drained from him.  Feeling betrayed by the other more prominent members as well she made similar visits to each one, making sure that there would be no one to come after her once her vengeance was satisfied.

When she had taken care of the traitors she decided to leave the planet, given the fact that she was now wanted by the local authorities, and work solo.  For quite a while she hopped from place to place, accepting jobs from the highest bidder whether it was to steal something of import, assassinate someone who was becoming a nuisance, or just stay close as hired protection.  Along the way she picked up a bit of a gambling habit, though luck tended to be on her side.  Ly'Andra's gifts of manipulation coupled with a well crafted bluffing face secured her a fair amount of money in games of chance.  Occasionally she would toss her hat in the underground fighting ring on whatever planet she was on at the time.  Her opponents almost always underestimated her, as did those wagering on the match.  By betting large sums on herself she was able to make herself even more money.  It was few and far between that she used this technique to line her pockets, preferring jobs that sharpened her skills to ones that required sheer physical might.

This life of being a gun or thief for higher continued to the present, as did entertaining herself with gambling or any other way she could find to have fun.  It's rare for her to stay in one place very long.

Special Abilities:

Flexibility and Agility - Ly'Andra is very maneuverable and acrobatic when compared to a normal human, thus giving her an advantage in combat.

Strength - While not possessing super strength her strength is a good deal more than a comparable human of her size.  Her strength is closer to rivaling that of a human male close to 6 feet tall.

Healing - Something that she assumes is due to whatever sub species she is Ly'Andra is able to heal twice as fast as the average human and along with it has a stronger immune system.  There are certain things however that effect her in the same way as a human.

Persuasion - A skill she'd prefer to attribute to her own expertise and experience, Ly'Andra is quite proficient in persuasion and manipulation, something which comes in handy in her line of work.

Piloting - Developed out of necessity and nurtured for the sheer love of speed and adrenaline, Ly'Andra's skills as a pilot are above average.  Her cool demeanor and quick response time have aided her on more than one occasion.

Weapons:

Battle Daggers (two) -
Her personal favorite pair of weapons, Ly'Andra stole these ceremonial daggers from a temple on the planet of Sharah, unable to pass them by after seeing how nicely they went with her eyes.  She uses these for hand to hand combat and keeps them tucked into her boots when not in use.  She views them as a way to give the enemy an honorable death.

Range -
Something she took off a dead enemy after seeing how precise and powerful it was.  This is often found holstered on her right hip.

Her first blaster, from back in her gang days.  Ly'Andra admittedly keeps it for some sentimental value though it has yet to let her down.  This weapon is always holstered on her right hip or hidden on her person.

A weapon she considers too clunky to carry around regularly but when the mission calls for it it definitely gets the job done.

Her automatic weapon, not something she feels satisfied when using but it's highly effective when needed.  Only used for specific missions.

Cassiopeia

Well I suppose it could be left up to each players personal choice.  Some could start out already on the team while others join in for various reasons.  Though not having the entire team already assembled might make it take longer to get into the actual action of the game, so it's kind of a give and take thing.  I think my character could go either way.  If she is already a member of the group though I'm thinking she wouldn't be one for long.

Saerrael

I don't mind joining a bit later. Still contemplating my character anyway :)

Chreestafer

yea im not sure what to play at the moment im thinking about playing the ranged member of the group the one whose good with the snipering and all

I use Deviant Art a lot, if you make a free account you can save your faves which is always helpful.  Photobucket can be good, sometimes it's hit or miss.  And yeah if all else fails just google image search.  That's how I found most of my weapons.

Google-san gave me something interesting ;

Not saying I'm going to play Sarah Morrison, though. But I love her slightly gritty look.

Xanatos

I think starting on the same team would save a lot of time and possible headache. As Cassi said, it takes longer and bogs down the game splitting people up. Since your new, I assume to GMing? It would be best not to split your efforts anymore than is necessary for the plot.

Elven Sex Goddess

My vote is to start with the same team.   Also agrees that it saves time.  An keeps the game from bogging down right out at the start.   Allows for a quicker pace to get into a mission scenario.

Xanatos

What is this google-san you talk of Saerra?

Xanatos

Oh Kronos, I can play multiple characters if your needing/wanting NPC's along for the ride but are not sure you can handle them. I can handle many characters at a time. Just throwing it out there.

I was thinking I might come up with some info on the organization we work for, unless you already got that. I can also create races, planets, etc. Sci-fi is my fave setting, tied with of course fantasy.

Cassiopeia

You're just like a kid in a candy shop aren't you *smirks*

A pet name for Google, love.

Note ; I might add something to this at a later time.

Name: Aellae (Ale) Borislava
Race: Human, mostly. About 60% of Aellae's ancestors were humans. The other 40% consist of so many different alien races, one would take a while to cough up the whole list.
Age: 18
Sexuality: Straight as an arrow.

Description:
Standing a measly 5'2" (1m60cm), one would not expect this red haired bombshell to be able to lift a gun without breaking her back. One can not be more wrong. Growing up on space ships and stations might have stunted her growth, but her body is hardly frail. Voluptuous curves and neatly carved muscles decorate her frame in a way that spells trouble for those who dare appose her.
Bright green eyes speak of a mischievous nature and hint of intelligence she doesn't always wish to show.

Do to where she has spend her early youth, Aellae either dresses in her battlesuit or something that much resembles common spacesuits. Both suits are tight formed to the body, allowed the wearer maximum freedom of movement without taking up too much space.

Personality:
Aellae has the basic personality one requires to survive years and years of living in tight quarters.... not.
Though she has no problem in living in spaceships and stations, none really have found her to fit there, lacking a serenity and possessing an explosive passion for just about anything she does. Be it her love for the creation and use of explosives or her fondness for men, Aellae thrives as a burning power of energy. Locking her up with nothing to do would most probably break her spirit.

It's easy to see her as a tomboy, as Aellae has a tendency to hide her feminine and, in her eyes, fragile side. Most commonly, she hangs around with men, preferring even their friendship over that of women. It's no secret Aellae does not think highly of other women, especially those she calls weak beyond redemption ; women only concerned with with to wear and what nailpolish would suit their shoes.

Background:
Being born to a long line of spacetravelers and merchants between the planets, she's been everywhere and back, met every race at least twice, or at least thinks so.
Over time her bloodline has broken every rule in existence, thus labeling her and her kin as pirates.

Having a nack for chemistry, Aellae discovered at the tender age of 5 that she was more then able to blow up a large spacestation compartment with household products. Much to the shame of her parents, who previously rented the compartment...
Not being discouraged by their words, she found it to be an intersting enough hobby to study later in life and has fine tuned this ability to randomly blow things up that shouldn't be into blowing things up that should. ...though accidents still happen.

Aellae is rather green to the life of a mercenary, only having seen the fights between various spaceships and stations that were all too common in her past. Bored of tinkering and hobbying with her explosives 'at home', she decided to hire herself out, see what price she would fetch on the open market.

Special abilities:
In panic situations, Aellae is able to tap into otherwise latent psychokinetic abilities. These would manifest itself in a hastily drawn up shield to deflect missiles like bullets, or small movements of light objects up to 30 feet away from her.

Weapons:
Aside a wide collection of explosives and detonators in satchels, bags and pockets on a broad utility belt that hangs loosely around her waist, Aellae does carry weaponry of a more traditional type as well, though rather grabs a hand made bomb.
Even if her belt is more then isolated and none of the contents are easily removed, one would not wish to be near her with flameables due to it not looking all too save.

On her back she carries a one handed sword of unknown origin. As a present of her father, she has a hard time parting with it, even if it's not her weapon of choice by far.

In a sheate attached to her left outer thigh, Aellae carries her mothers blade, something of a mix between an large dagger and a very short sword.

On her back she has a rather bulky gun that is able to either shoot bullets or a limited amount of strong pulse energy (worth about 20 shots).
She got this as a parting gift when she left 'home'.

On her right outter thigh a few strips of throwing stars can be found. Aellae has, of course, tinkered with them and they explode on impact, able to blow a hole in someones head with an approximate diameter of three to five inches wide.

if you want, Xanatos, you can make information about the organization. Just a few guidelines:

-start it small but decently reputable. I want their reps to grow as the story goes on
-don't make them incredibly powerful. The dynamic Im sensing with these characters made is that theyre all very skilled alone, but lack the 'team chemestry' at the moment.
-which means that the team should be fairly new

-finally, leave some room at the leader position for me to make a character. Thanks

Xanatos

Roger. Sounds good. I was thinking more of a general idea for the group instead of intense details. Those I would leave to you, as you know what you want to do with them.

Mercenary Company, Fersarlik

Fersarlik: Fersarlik is a small time mercenary company which hires its men and women out on the normal jobs one would expect from a company such as it. Unlike most smaller companies, Fersarlik has a reputation for doing good work. Its people are skilled, and good at what they do. They get paid well and in part because of this, make sure to do a good job. No one has complained about the work Fersarlik does and thus their reputation is quite clean and spotless.

Farsarlik is based on the planet Trepdofson, a large and influential world.

The organization is only known to have 20 on the payroll and has several craft on hand to use.

Trepdofson: The 'mega' world, as some call it is a planet which is now mostly covered in city. It at one time was Earth like, though less lush and has grown to become a major player in the Igir sector. The world had abundant mineral and crystalline resources and they were eagerly plundered bringing wealth and power to the planets government. Little remains of their former natural resources but the power remains.

The population is estimated to be around one hundred billion people of many races, mostly human or sub-human. Trepdofon's military is substantial and as powerful as the planets influence.

Brian

Race: Human
Age: early-30s
Sexuality: Straight
Notable Skills: Kenjutsu, Jojutsu, Jujutsu, Infiltration (stealth, camouflage, lockpicking, etc.), Forward Observer, Sabotage

Description: About 5’10”, Brian actually weighs a bit less than one might guess given his height and profession because he is made up of lean muscle.  He’s trained himself for endurance and speed rather than bulk strength.  He maintains the ghost of a goatee and a samurai-style topknot.  Due to its design, he pretty much constantly wears his cybersuit, seeing as it acts like a second skin.  Usually, though, he leaves the helmet off, unless he’s working.  The entire suit of armor is normally turned to matte black, but switches to its chameleon mode when appropriate on a job.

Background: Brian was born under another name on a former corporate colony.  When the company went under, a variety of criminal organizations moved in and took over.  The colony, he refuses to give its name, quickly became a hive, but one that the galaxy’s governments found useful . . . after all, spies from different nations need neutral places to meet, spies from the same nation need secure drop points, and the higher ups in many governments have, refined, tastes that can’t be met with licit goods.  Street wars and covert black ops, shadow wars, were common on the planet by the time Brian was born.  Neither of his parents were involved directly, although everyone was indirectly involved.  But, his family wasn’t well off either, because they weren’t involved.  By the time he was thirteen, Brian was running messages for a House.  They were the kind of thing that couldn’t be trusted to potentially compromised comm systems.  By sixteen, he was scouting targets for House enforcers.  By eighteen, he was an enforcer himself, infiltrating rival Houses and leaving silent, or not-so-silent, messages.  Something was lacking, though.  When he got the chance, Brian left his homeworld for the stars.  He was picked up by a minor mercenary company that only did specialized covert ops, mostly for companies.  They broke up a few years ago, once the founder retired and didn’t leave a clear succession.  And that, as they say, is how he ended up with Fersarlik.

Notable Gear:
Armor—Cybersuit (molecular weave PCA, 20% strength enhancement, sealed, sensor visor, short range comm, holo-HUD, chameleon surface, IR masking)
Weapons—Twin Blasters, Blast Rifle, Paralysis Pistol, 9mm Pistol (caseless), Grenades (flash-bang, HESH, EMP), Vibro-Knives (2; tanto and k-bar), Forcesword
Cybernetics (most were acquired during his days as a House scout/enforcer)—Biomonitor, Comm Implant (bone induction mic), Cyber-eyes (both; UV, thermograph, optic readout, polarization, light intensification), Gyrobalance (perfect balance), Reflex Booster (+50% above average Human level)

Paralysis Pistol

Blasters

9mm Pistol

Vibro-Tanto

How does that look to you Kronos?

Actually, the organization seems a little TOO clean. With all these colorful, dynamic characters everyone is making, I suggest a little less flawless organization.

What I do like is that their preformance is top notch, and they get the job done. Maybe this should just be 'our' perticular crew of PC's, but I'm thinking they should have some other 'flawwed' reputations such as:

-high collateral damage (buildings decimated, company and civilian vehicles always getting wrecked)
-bad expense reports (spending money on fun things like alchohol, sex, high rise hospitality)
-maybe not having the best of relationships with the higher ups (to prevent PC to PC breakdown, I'll rp as the executive NPCs)
-maybe they're just too provocative...if these flaws are just our particular team in the company, maybe it's our team that only has the hot, half naked, women.

As for the game itself, the new threads are coming soon. As soon as we finalize the team dynamic, I'll get an IC thread going. Group vote, should we start the game as the team just meeting, or have they already met?

Cassiopeia

Kinda like that idea Kronos, like the company has a high rep but we're kinda the "bad boys" of the group?  Maybe they're even putting pressure on us like if we don't clean up our act and start working as a team they'll split us up or cut ties all together ... something like that?  Idk, I'm just like spit balling here, lol

And HEY!  Don't blame the hot half naked women!  We can't help that we're sexy ;) the team just needs to learn how to utilize us!

Vandren

Could also simply be that they're the crew that takes the jobs others won't, like those that simply can't be done without PR nightmare collateral damage, and therefore overuse the expense accounts as "their right" due to the jobs (not that the brass would see it that way).

I went ahead and created a commander of the team...a walking talking middle finger to the higher ups:

Richard "Dick" Moorhouse

Race: Human
Age: Mid-50's
Sexuality: Love that pussy over and over again (straight)

Description: "Old School" can be the two words that describe Dick Moorhouse. A mercenary commando of nearly 30 years, Moorhouse has seen it all, and been through it all, and his body, though highly strong and conditioned (some say 'the body of a man half his age'), bears the weight of his verteran experience. His signature beard and hairline hide the cracks of his aged face and his dark eyes. His dark brown hair has a slight few coarse greys, surprisingly not as much as other humans in his age rank.

As straight laced and as simple as he is, his space suit is cold black, not reflecting any light, and going the 'old school' route, prefers to wear a gear filled tactical vest that has all the essentials for a successful mission.

Personality:

Dick is a hardened man's man. He hates the bureaucratic and corporate lifestyle, instead preferring the straight forward approach to getting the job done. He tosses civility and many times manners to the side, tending the curse a mile a minute.

He loves to train, stay in shape, and he loves the vice of a man. He doesn't mind lighting up a cigar on occasion, having a bottle of hard liquor, and for a man his age, he stays heavily sexually active. Boasting a libido and 'size' greater than many men his age, he doesn't hesitate to back up his words with a woman.

Some call him an old playboy....some such call him a dirty old man...not his fault he prefers females 10-20 years younger than he.
Background:

Dick grew up in a blue collar family, in a blue collar agricultural  planet of Tetaris 6. Aspiring to see the galaxy, he was recruited at a young age by the PMC Red Dragon Inc.

As large of a corporation it was, Red Dragon higher ups had no intention of making a fighter out of Dick. Instead, he became a logistics navigator in one of their assault ships. For his first few months, he saw very few moments of combat, and was in no real danger.

His career path changed when he got into a fistfight with an 'officer' of the merc company. The officer never saw combat either, much less the natural ferocity that Dick showed in the brawl. As punishment, the executives at Red Dragon assigned him to Specforce Training, wanting him to suffer and potentially die during the grueling regimin.

It was the first within Red Dragon that the training program was used as a punishment. Everyone else in the program aspired to be the best of the best. Being around with people with such courage, such strength, such BALLS, Dick easily adopted their mindset and mentalities, eventually graduating with the rest of his class.

Years pass, and as Dick completes operation after operation, he gains reputation with Red Dragon, not only as a man who gets the job done, but at one that throws caution to the wind. Being a natural rogue, Dick was always on the bad side of the higher ups of the merc organization. Despite his ability to get the job done, he was more of a liability than anything else, so they eventually fire Moorhouse from Red Dragon.

He jumps from one organization to the next, seeing more of the galaxy than he ever though he would, and completing the job, yet in a way that leaves the leaders of the organization reeling from the bad PR, the collateral damage, and Dick's foul mouth.

His latest organization, Fersarlik, hired him with a sight of caution. By now being a heavy war veteran, Fersarlik gives Moorhouse command position, giving him the jobs that no other team would want to accept.

Weapons:

His pistol of choice, he always keeps this gun strapped to his thigh no matter if he's in the captain's chair or in the thick of battle. Being VERY old-school, he prefers the updated versions of classic slug-throwers than the crazy energy weapons that his team would use.

His knife of choice, also strapped to his chest and ready to be drawn, is actually an updated version of a class knife he used for years. Upgrades include an upgraded luna-titanium vibroblade.

Cassiopeia

Lol, definitely a walking talking middle finger, very nice!  ;D

Name: Apophis Reynolds
Race: Oxoniyeitix (called Golemites by humans)
Age: 85 Earth years (relatively young)
Sexuality: Unknown

Description: The stone man stands at a steady 6'3" tall, which is small compared to others of his race, and weights well over 300 lbs. His skin is a muted gray with no luster. It is believed that he is semi-organic, and has organs similar to a humans. One example of this is a strange red mucous mesh like material that stretches between the breaks of skin where his joints are. His age reflects the very long life span that his people endure. Their evolution has been very slow; home world technology is millions of years in the making despite the fact that it may not be as advanced as other civilizations.

Personality: For a being who appears to be very rigid, Apohphis is an easy going sort who will follow commands with very little question. Like others of his kind he favors acceptance and is open to change when it is necessary. He sometimes overuses his strength without being aware of it and is not very attentive to details. Clumsy and a slow paced learner.

Background: The origins of the Golemites trace back to a small cluster of planetoids that are located in the depths of space. The planetoids where almost empty, even with the presents of it's inhabitants. Their only resource that was useful to them was an exotic material that could be produced by a strange organism that co-existed with them. It was rocky, like them, and the closet creature that could be used to describe it is a tortoise. This material became of greater use when the Oxoniyeitix used it to power their newly developed mining equipment to explore their worlds further. Eventually the planetoids were invaded by outsiders that wanted to take their main resource. The rock people's technology could not match their adversary's so they converted most of their mining units into space cruisers and fled, never to return.

Time passed, and the rock people made contact with an Earth colony. As strange as it may seem the Oxoniyeitix fit into the Earth colony with few confrontations with humans. Their technology, of course, was inferior to the humans but felt that they could slowly learn and benefit from having their first ally. The Oxoniyeitix adopted human culture, naming systems, and dropped their old tongue in favor of English (it had taken them many years to learn). Apophis was born on the space colony, and grew up into a space excavator. It felt great to follow this trend for the first 70 years of his life, but after most of his human friends grew old and died he wanted to move on to another line of work.

It took him some time and having to part with a few of his inherited mining vessels to convince the organization Fersarlik to hire him as a contractor. He wanted to command his own crew, but since the group valued it's high social view he was hired to work as a crew ships supply grunt. He couldn't complain too much, they paid him and the work was not hard for him, dull as it may be. Apophis always dreams for a brighter position with the crew in the future.

Abilities:

Strength: He has yet to see a human that can match his impeccable strength. He also has the ability to survive unprotected in most hostile environments for short periods of time. This may be the only innate trait that has shown any value to the crew.

Mining: Being in the business of drilling and breaking through all kinds of minerals for decades has allowed him to gain knowledge on many types of different tools and techniques used in that area. Apophis can only pilot the rock crushing vessels or similar that came from his world. They were made for his people's understanding.

Gear:

Apophis wears this protective vest along with a pair of olive trousers and combat boots. Mostly for show and a way for him to blend in with the other mercenaries.

This rifle is an energy weapon that is capable of firing a single shot or a burst of coherent light. Uses standard energy cells for ammo. Was acquired from the Earth colony before he left.

A tool from his own collection, Apophis has found over the years that this cell powered mining hammer was good for close range combat. Able to knock an opponent off his feet with ease.

Note: Had a hard time finding a profile picture for the character. Let me know if anything needs to be changed.

1. high collateral damage (buildings decimated, company and civilian vehicles always getting wrecked)
2. maybe they're just too provocative...if these flaws are just our particular team in the company, maybe it's our team that only has the hot, half naked, women.

Quote from: BlackFistKronos on February 27, 2010, 09:42:48 PMi'll keep this thread the ooc thread for now

Technically speaking, that shouldn't be done, under E. guidelines.  Every Small Group gets 2 threads per player plus an OOC thread, so this board's not cluttered up by OOC threads for games already running.

This actually seems very fun if you are still looking for people to play.
Don't tempt the hammer of the Waagh. The Black Riva is in our blood, spill a drop and the rest of us will drown you in it, got it?

Xanatos

Blackfistkronos should be on later today to answer your question.

Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

For the two new guys, I'm gonna have to think about if I can fit you guys. We have a pretty full team as it is, and this being my first GM job, I wanted to keep the group slightly small so its more managable.

If need be, I can create a second merc team within the company. Maybe a rival team, or even a rival company. If my 'adviser' (you now who you are), has any input, PM me.

Tydorei

I would like to post interest in playing this game as well. I would of applied sooner but I only recently been allowed to make posts.

Same here. I was actually thinking of making an RP of my own, but this one is pretty much the same thing I would have done.  ;D  Any objections (from anyone) to having me play a female character?

If your original merc group is filling up, perhaps that idea of a rival group is looking more possible? If so, I would certainly be interested. In fact, I have an idea I'd like to propose. What would you say to having the "second" group be a band of space pirates, and the "main" group has to hunt them down?

BlackFistKronos

After giving it a lot of thought, I decided that this game is filled and I can't accept new players without starting a new one.

Thanks for the others for their interest and Im sorry I couldn't get you guys in on this one.

Blackbird

Fair enough. Good luck and have an awesome game!
