Looks good, Ebb. Just one quick change - J. Edgar Hoover was the Director of the BOI, not Herbert Hoover. Small nitpick. ::)

But regardless ... your character is most definitely approved. Welcome aboard! :)

Name: Catherine Evelyn Porter
Age: 25.
Position: First Class Passenger; Actress.
Sexual Preferences: Bisexual with a preference for men - Submissive/Switch - O/O's

Appearance: Catherine stands at around 5’7” and weighs around 107lbs. She has a slender figure and because she is quite tall, has long, toned legs which could probable be her most notable feature, other then her obvious English accent that also tends to stand out quite a bit. Her skin is lightly tanned and well cared for; it's the kind of complexion that tans easily under the sun but doesn't burn as quickly. She has long, naturally wavy chestnut hair that reaches the bottoms of her shoulder blades and a pair of beautiful deep hazel eyes that are framed by dark, thick, voluminous lashes. Although she is quite slim, her feminine curves are still apparent.

Personality: Catherine is a very curious woman which can sometimes get her into trouble and other times can...No. It only ever gets her into trouble. She enjoys learning new things; whether that be a skill, facts from someone or lore/history from a book. She can sometimes seem unapproachable or a little intimidating, but that's simply the way she's started portraying herself since becoming an actress. The brunette can sometimes appear a little stuck up or perhaps snobby, but underneath it all is a loving, affectionate, interested girl.

Background: Catherine was brought up in very regal home in London, England; her mother and father wanted her to grow up the perfect lady and enlisted the help of many tutors and maids to watch her progression. Her tutors were kind and taught her of the world and its inhabitants and her maids cared for her and dressed her in the prettiest frocks. She grew up wondering about the world, about other cultures than her own and other walks of life; even though she learned as much as she possibly could, she would never know the true meaning behind each way without experiencing it for herself. When she first mentioned to her mother and father that she wished to travel and learn more, they completely denied it. Their excuse? She was a young lady and their young lady wasn't permitted to crawl about the world in search of adventure.

Catherine wasn't satisfied with spending the rest of her days learning to cook and tailor, among many other things, instead, she sought out acting as an escape from reality. When she became a little too ‘forward’ with her ideals, they both agreed that they would send her off to a ‘Ladies Finishing School’ in New York. It was quite a world away from them, but they eventually trusted the faculty enough to spend lots of their precious money flying her over. That only fueled her dreams further and she began searching for play production auditions in the area. After attending auditions, without letting her parents know what she was doing outside of her school, Catherine finally got cast for a minor role in a short stage production. She carried on attending auditions for other plays that the theater group was producing and was soon gaining more and more roles closer to the spot light; she couldn't help but feeling she had accomplished something. When her mother and father first found out via their daughters letters, they were angry with her and threatened to end her career until she told them of a man she’d been working with that was more dedicated to film production. He told her he helped out with the theater, since he had good expertise, but his paying job was a part of a film studio in New York. After signing a contract with ‘Comet Pictures’ and completing her first role in a feature film, Catherine was arranged to attend a five star cruise aboard the RMS Mystic by the company to make a public appearance and gain press. She found she simply couldn't refuse; she'd hardly ever been on a ship as big and luxurious as that and found that her adventurous side had sparked in her again. Catherine had always wanted to travel and this could be her chance to explore the waters in the comfort of an extravagant, safe environment.

Question Mark

Name: Sub-Divisional Inspector Walter Smith (Ret.)
Age: 35
Position: Steerage Passenger
Sexual Preferences: Straight, loyal to his wife
Appearance: See picture.  Wears the same outfit in day-to-day business.  He's a little rougher around the edges; since the photograph, his nose has been broken, but was improperly set, giving it a slight bent.  He also seems to have some difficulty shaving on a regular basis, and often has a chinful of scruff.
Personality: Serious, solemn, and a bit rough around the edges when it comes to manners and temperament, but he's got a good heart and a driven mindset underneath it all.  Insatiably curious and a proud supporter of rationality and logic.
Background: Born and raised in the London East End.  Joined the Metro Police at 18, rose slowly but steadily through the ranks over the next decade and a half, reaching Sub-Divisional Inspector.  Married, two daughters.  In January 1928, his wife, Mary, miscarried their third child, and their youngest daughter died of pneumonia less then a month later.  Crushed, Walter took to the drink and eventually made a drunken spectacle of himself in New Scotland Yard.  His superiors were willing to overlook the incident on account of the deaths, but they were forced to offer him retirement and discharge by their own bosses.  Jobless, their savings account dwindling rapidly, and unable to move past the deaths of their daughter and unborn child, Walter and Mary decided to restart their lives.  They would leave London behind, emigrate to New York City (especially attractive due to America's enforced Prohibition), and start a fresh life with their remaining daughter, Lilah.  Walter plans to travel ahead on the RMS Mystic's maiden voyage with the majority of their remaining capital, intending to find a residence and job in New York for his family to come home to.

Name: (Stage name)Velvet Posch(As her friends know her, true name Cora Perkins)
Age: 30
Position: First Class Passenger
Sexual Preferences: Hetero/Dominant/Switch

Appearance: Velvet is rather tall, statuesque even, but has generous curves. Her hair is long and deeply black, with eyes of an intense ice blue.

Personality: Velvet is a woman who knows what she wants, and knows how to get it. She comes from New Money, spends it freely, and doesn't care about any sort of 'scandal' she might bring on. Though outwardly she shows herself to be a free spirit, she wishes deep down she might find a man who wants to get to know the real Cora, not the performer Velvet.

Background: Cora had to scratch and claw, and even fuck her way to the top. It took her awhile, but she managed it finally. Top billing is what Velvet Posch eventually received, playing all the high class shows with her Burlesque troop. She remained on top for a long time, long enough to catch the eye of a rather handsome, if not much older Hotel Magnate.

Eventually she fell for the mans determined wooing, how could she not? He ravished her with jewels and furs and cars and trips, and she found herself actually fond of the man. She married him, taking his surname Perkins, and they lived quite happily for several years. During this time, Velvet met a lovely young lady by the name of Lady Abigail. Velvet never had many females friends, as most women turned their nose up at not only her profession, but how she married into her riches. But Abby was different. Sweetly innocent, but wanting to see the slightly darker side of the world, a world that Velvet knew about. They became fast friends.

But smack in the middle of her fairy-tale life, Velvet's husband died in a tragic hunting accident. She found herself however, now independently wealthy, as her husband, having no other family, left her his millions. She has also found herself shunned in all the new circles she had mingled within with her husband, now deemed not worthy of their company, being an ex stripper. So it was she decided to take a trip upon the RMS Mystic, and she decided to drag her friend Abigail with her.

Hey Question Mark,

I really like the basic premise of the character - I have three possible questions/concerns, though:

1. So, Walter's traveling with his wife Mary? Who will be playing her, then - some other player, or is will she be a NPC?

2. Also, is he/are they traveling with their daughter Lilah as well? How old is she?

I'll be honest - I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of the daughter being there, particularly if she's young. This might not necessarily be a smut-filled RP ... but it might, and I'd like to avoid any age-related issues that might crop up. Even if she's conveniently kept "off-screen" the whole time, I think it's a potential headache that I'd personally rather avoid. Also, unless some other player is going to be playing the wife, I'm not sure I like the idea of the wife being there - it means you're essentially running two connected characters, QM, or I'm running Mary as a NPC, and I'd rather not run any more NPCs than I have to as a first-time GM. :)

I would suggest that either some other player run Walter's wife Mary, or have him traveling on the Mystic ahead of his wife and daughter (a common practice back then) - he's going to New York to find a job and a place to live, and when that's accomplished, he'll then send for the rest of his family.

Finally ...

3. Personality: TBD - I'll need a basic personality type for him before I can approve him. It's more for me - I need to have an idea of what all the characters are like before we get started. His personality can certainly evolve as the game rolls along, but I at least need a starting point for Walter.

Hi bubby,

I like the basic character concept a lot - just one question, similar to the ones directed at Question Mark:

Who's playing Abigail? Is she a NPC, or will some other player be running her?

As before, I'd prefer that Abigail not be an outright NPC, so if someone else isn't going to be running her, then I'd prefer for her to be dropped from the background.  (If someone else is running Abigail, though, then kindly feel free to ignore everything I've written in this particular post. :) )

And all three legitimate concerns.  I anticipated Lilah would be trouble, but I also didn't want something as morose as all of his children dying.  For the record, I intended to keep her offscreen pretty much all the time, just referred to.  However, I like your solution of him traveling ahead of his family (why didn't I think of that?), so I'll run with it.  :)

The TBD personality thing is something I do for all of my characters.  I've never liked laying out someone's personality from the get-go, I prefer to let it develop spontaneously, but I'll add my current personality conceptualization for Walter.  No problemo, senorita.

EDIT: Edited the profile.

Name: Lady Abigail Maria Evenwood

Age:19

Position: First Class Passenger

Sexual Preferences: Hetrosexual-Submissive.

Appearance: A little on the short side, Abigail though having petite body type she does have curves hidden under the loose gowns she favors. Spiral blond hair that reaches her shoulders when worn loose. Always dressed in the finest and latest trends, Abigail takes a small bit of pride in her appearance. Applying only a little make-up she has little need for most cosmetics. Bright brown eyes framed with thick lashes often show a spark, a hint that there is more than she seems.

Personality: Polite and always well mannered, Abigail is never outspoken almost reserved in most social settings. Yet she longs to be able to speak her mind and do as she wishes. Abigail has dreams of living a life free of social decrees and the threat of marriage looming over her head.

Background: A daughter of Old Money, Abigail was given the best things in life. Education, clothing, food, and whichever her heart desired. Yet she never really cared for such things. All she wanted was a life of her own, not one set up for her since the day her mother found out she was pregnant.

Day after day was filled with lessons- singing, dancing, piano, flower arranging, how to be a proper lady, what to wear, how to act, and the list just went on and on. All quiet boring and all for the soul purpose of finding Abigail a proper husband. Abigail loved her books and the places they were able to take her, an escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of her family's ways.

When she was told about 'Velvet' and how scandalous she acted Abigail was curious. Here was a woman doing everything she was taught not to. Quickly though she became enamored by the outspoken Cora. Happy to finally have a friend that didn't care about the social ladder.

Usually shunned at parties now due to her associating with Widow Perkins, Abigail considers herself lucky. She is showing her parents she doesn't need them to be happy, that she could have friends of her own choosing and not care what they think.

Fearing for their child her family quickly set about finding a proper suitor for their slowly becoming wayward daughter.

The day she found out her parents had found a husband for their daydreaming daughter, Abigail panicked. Running to Cora for comfort she soon found herself packing for a trip, still amazed at how easily she was convinced into accompany her friend.

IrishWolf

Name: Francis MacNamara
Age: 47
Position: Crew, Stoker Foreman/fireman
Sexual Preferences: Dominant, straight
Appearance: Francis is a tall and powerfully built man, standing near to six feet, with a ruddy complexion from hours and hours standing in front of roaring boiler fires over the years. His hair is a dark brown color and kept trimmed short. His hands and arms are covered with old burn scars, most small, from where the flames licked his skin when he was first a stoker.
Personality: A boisterous sailor, he enjoys a healthy amount of drink and his pipe, when the company of women is unavailable. Three things fill him with pride; the first being his position as a stoker, that he is strong enough to do some of the hardest work aboard ship, the second is his Dewey Medal and the third is his mustache.
Background: Francis was born in San Francisco in 1881, a second generation Irish-American, who's family had come over during the California Gold Rush. As a boy, he was always hanging out around the docks and at the tender age of fourteen, he lied his way (about his age) into the American Navy. By the outbreak of the Spanish–American War in 1898, then seventeen year old Francis was serving aboard the USS Olympia of the Asiatic Squadron, in the boiler room, due to his size. It was his great pleasure to have been shoveling coal at a feverish rate, during the Battle of Manila Bay and to have received the Dewey Medal afterwards. Like many of the stokers aboard then Commodore Dewey's squadron, he believes his part in keeping the armored cruisers moving, to be of equal importance to any gunners, in the outcome of the battle.

After the decommissioning of the Olympia and his enlistment being up in 1899, he took work with the White Star Line and served for a short time aboard the HMHS Britannic before reenlisting in the American Navy in 1915, after the sinking of the RMS Lusitania . In a quirk of fate, he found himself serving aboard his beloved Olympia again, when she was recommissioned in 1917, spending the war patrolling the Eastern coast or escorting convoys. When the war ended, he remained in the American Navy and aboard Olympia, when she sailed for the Mediterranean and Adriatic, during the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War and was board in 1921, when she carried the remains of World War I's Unknown Soldier from France to Washington, DC and managed to end his enlistment in 1922, when USS Olympia was once again, decommissioned.

Afterwards, he again signed with the White Star Line and served aboard RMS Olympic before being transferred by request to the RMS Mystic.

Indeed it will.  It's rare that a game appears with such an impressive staff of writers.  I've been pretty humbled, actually, reading through some of your previous posts.

I've got a good feeling about the RMS Mystic.  What could possibly go wrong?

Heh, I wasn't just referring to you mate :P  It's nice to see another character who isn't part of the 1%, so to speak.  I have a feeling Walter and Francis would strike up a good conversation if they were to meet.
