Great! Is there any particular type you're missing, or is under-represented and want more of?

Hm...I wouldn't say there are any particular types that we need, but if you want your character to be more unique, most of our lovely ladies have at least one nerdy interest, so straying away from that would be one way. Also, we have only one or two upper class characters, so that is another option.

About half of our characters are creative types, so we're pretty balanced in that regard.

Here is the profile thread if you want to see what we have currently. Add to the list a personal trainer/exotic dancer/male escort, an attorney/politician, and an owner of a high-end clothing store, and you have all of them (except Gaga's new character(s)).

If you want to hash out ideas or just need a sounding board, I'll try to help you the best I can. :-)

Hmm..thanks! I was thinking of an upper class gal to begin with, but sort of assumed there'd already be plenty of lesbian characters :/ Now..just to find a reference picture I can live with. So, back in a few hours ;) Thank you for the offer by the way! I'll probably drop by when I have something down as a baseline.

Instead of obsessing on the person you want to be, focus on who you DON'T want to be. It's much easier to not do certain things than to break your head on some ideal of yourself.

When the dust settles, you may find out you've become who you were supposed to be all along.

Miguel Fernando Ángel Del Bosque

Nicknames: none. (His friends generally call him either Miguel or Ángel)
Age: 28
Sex: Cis-Male
Birthday: Oct. 16th
Height: 6'1
Sexual Orientation: Openly Homosexual (For erotica M/M only, everything else is fair game.)

Appearance Details:
Some more visuals & information

  • Hair colour: Dark brown
  • Eye colour: Brown
  • Religion: Christian/Catholic
  • Political party: Democrats - Left wing
  • No piercings
  • No tattoos
  • Has a scar (approx.. 3 inches) on his right, lower back

Personality: Miguel is a generally outgoing, positive and optimistic person, with the rather typical hotblooded temper many of his fellow countrymen -his parents immigrated from Spain years before he was born- share. He is a reasonable, intelligent and mature man, graced with quite an amount of patience and humour. He is educated and well-spoken, now and then known to throw in a word or phrase in Spanish (Miguel was raised bilingual). He does have an accent at times, especially when he is passionate about something - a speech, in court now and then, etc. In general, Miguel is easy to get along with. He is a non arrogant, very social and sincere personality.

He has a rather low aggression potential. He does have a temper here and there, but he isn't an overly aggressive person. He values the power of the word, over letting his fists speak for him. Generally, he sees violence as acts of weakness and helplessness. It takes a lot, to provoke him or get him into a sour mood. Despite his dislike for injustice it rarely manages to get him angry. Anger is something he tries to turn into something more productive. If asked, he will provide his honest opinion, regardless if others like it or not. Being overcautious just for the sake of it, isn't something Miguel does a lot. He is of the opinion that mature people should be capable of accepting other peoples opinions without taking everything personal. He is diplomatic, though, and wouldn't purposefully try to 'rub people the wrong way', if it can be avoided, but certain things simply need to be spoken out as they are.

He is not flaunting his sexual preference, neither does he rub it into everyones face. People that know him, know what he likes, and if asked, he would be straight forward about it. He never made a secret about his homosexuality,  but it is nothing he defines himself over. It is as much a part of himself as is his liking for vegan food.

Now and then, he can be quite the workaholic. Especially when he's having his teeth in a case or during a political campaign. He always had worked hard, even during his times in Yale. He did volunteer work, one or the other internship to get more experience, and here and there he had worked as waiter or taxi driver, to improve his meager budget as a student.

Bio: Born as second of three children in Los Angeles/California, Miguel was raised in a middle class, catholic household. His mother a teacher in an undergrad school, his father working as interpreter for the LAPD. From a very young age, Miguel already had a strong sense for justice, probably because of the way he was taught by his parents. Standing up for others, having an own opinion, being faithful and confident in ones talents and given skills, maintaining a certain degree of humility - were just some of the many values his parents made sure their children learned.

After having finished High School, Miguel went to Yale, having decided to be a lawyer one day. It was his passion, by then, and it was what he wanted, and his parents supported him in his plans for his own future. He always had been a hard worker, stubborn enough to go his own way and not stop when there would be difficulties or one or the other blowback. Those happened - and he quickly learned to see them as challenge to try again, make it better and succeed, in the end. He had his failures, and he had his disappointments, in his school career and his private life alike. He had to repeat one course, after a not-so-very pleasant breakup from his first serious boyfriend when he was twenty. Miguel came out when he was eighteen, to himself, to his friends and to his family. It had been a troubled period in his life, mostly for himself, but even that passed and it taught him many important lessons. Lessons that only fortified his beliefs and his choice of profession.

Graduating from Yale with a Ph. D. when he was twenty-four, opened many doors for the young, full-fledged lawyer, and he soon found a position in a Law Firm in Chicago. It was a new city for Miguel, and he was more than up for that challenge. The young man always was up for new challenges, and thus, he accepted the position and moved to Chicago several years ago. Despite the move, Miguel maintains close contact to his parents still living in Los Angeles, to his two siblings, and to his extended family (mostly his grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles) back in Barcelona/Spain.

But - very soon, the young man discovered another passion: The one for politics. Having been involved in one or the other student association back in Yale had inspired it already, and after he met a member of the local Democrat party during a case he had taken, Miguel decided to involve himself there as well. There was no question - he would fight against injustice and for equality there as well, and his education as lawyer only could be an advantage in the political field. Miguel is part of the Left-Wing Democrats in Chicago, trying to be the voice for those that are too afraid, too repressed to speak for themselves. In the past two and a half years, Miguel had made sure to be heard, even by those that didn't want to hear the truth that needed to be spoken out. He has, no doubt, one or the other opponent, especially from conservative, right-wing parties, but those merely strengthen Miguel, in his desire to fight for equality and the enforcement of Human Rights. It always had helped and encourged him that he as well was victim of one or the other attempt of discrimination in the past (mostly during his High School years) - may it be because of his heritage, or his sexual preference. As long as there is discrimination and injustice, there will be voices like Miguel's and his fellow campaigners, in their tasks to fight on and not give up.

  • Narrowminded, intolerant people
  • Violence
  • Injustice and dishonesty

  • People that talk and say nothing
  • Manipulative personalities
  • People without self respect
  • Shaving daily
  • Fast food and meat

  • Unprotected sex
  • Arrogance, people with an exaggerated opinion of themselves
  • Over-the-top pierced/tattoed/muscled men. A bit is nice, too much... is not.
  • Flavoured coffee

Ons & Offs: Please read my O/O thread. If you have an idea, let me know, by all means. Worst that can happen? Me saying nope.

Additional Details: People might or might not know him, based on how an individual follows local News or politics in general. Has been interviewed a couple of times in the recent past, for one or the other LGBTQA oriented magazine/online column, etc. There probably was one or the other article in the newspaper, when there was a case that would have gathered some attention from the public (probably one or the other hate crime that had happened, discrimination at work, etc.)

  • Is a vegan
  • Is allergic to wasps and aspirin
  • His favourite designers for formal wear are Versace, Paco Rabanne and Óscar de la Renta
  • Likes Armani and D&G for the more casual clothes
  • Loves Spanish and French cuisine
  • Speaks Spanish (native), English (native), some Italian and French (enough for a casual conversation)

Sorry, didn't mean to make you feel weird, it's just, I think you were one of the first people on E that I encountered and liked (as a friend). And because of our mutually exclusive sexualities we've never written together. I have even thought of just doing some sort of "mutual friends with no benefits" thing just to see what happens!

So, would you be ok for Maggie to be friends with Miguel?

Of course I would be okay with this. I did not join this group to write one sex scene after the other. ;)

Jasmine  Beaulieu

Nicknames:Mina, Jazz
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Birthday: 04/11
Height: 5"7'
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual with a female lean
Occupation: [To be decided]
Residence: The Kensington 206

Appearance Details:Body reference:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Just as the pictures show, other than a slight scar running across her lower stomach in a straight line.

Personality: Having grown up in a very upper class household, Jasmine learnt the proper mannerisms and tact a young lady aught to. Very self-conscience over how she's supposed to act, from standing straight to her choice of language, Jasmine still retains many of her older characteristics due to her background. Whilst never expecting the same in others and tends to be terribly embarrassed and rather annoyed if other people give attention to her way of holding herself, Jasmine has tried to reduce some of her rather 'posh' characteristics. When it comes to how she is as a person, Jasmine does her best to keep her emotions in check and never give too much away. Especially when it comes to anger and sadness, despite feeling both rather keenly, chances are she'll bottle it all up rather than let even a flicker of pain pass over her cheeks. Though it's only a matter of time before it all comes crashing out.

Kind, generous and a bit of a peoples lover, Jasmine greatly enjoys socialising in pretty much any form. Much preferring to keep the group size small however, in large groups she tends to try and fade into the background a little and listen rather than speak. Suffers from very low self-esteem, never believing anything she does will be good enough. Doing her best to find other outlets, for the most part they're rather self-destructive, asking for help from others has never even crossed her mind.

Bio: Her parents having had a divorce soon after she was born, Jasmine spent half her young life with her mother in France and the other half with her Father in America. Being privy to both cultures, languages and ways of life, for the most part she'd identify as having a French heritage, due to holding a much better relationship with her mother. Her Father, a well renowned businessman, never really had time for his daughter and, whilst he certainly loved her, was more inclined to thrust her into the arms of an aunt or cousin whenever she visited. Never understanding that it was just his way and his own upbringing that led to such detachment, Jasmine harboured terrible amounts of resentment for the Father. On the other side of the channel, her mother was just as well off, if a little less conservative. Having married into riches, as well as having come from riches, the money she had stockpiled meant that when Jasmine was not over in  America , she was sprawled out in a French mansion. Having given up her families business as soon as Jasmine was born, her mother spent her time pursuing the luxuries of life, from travelling to fine horses and even purchasing a basketball team..because she could.

Yet whilst her mother showed some form of interest in Jasmine, for the most part she was left to her own devices. Growing up and trying to fit in as best she could, the young woman often found herself alienated either due to coming from money, or from being a foreigner in both countries. Working hard to finish school as quickly as she could, Jasmine had few friends and even fewer relationships. It was not until university that she came out as bisexual, much to her mothers distaste. Argument and anger soon following, it took a good long time for their relationship to heal, by which point her Father had since died (leaving his fortune to Jasmine) and her Mother had burnt herself out due to an excessive lifestyle of drink and occasional drugs.

Passing out with a degree in history, Jasmine spent a few years working for her Father's French branch of his old corporation, though the work soon bored her due to the political nature and backstabbing that went on. Still having yet to explore her sexuality other than quick one night stands that left her even more wanting and curious than before. After finally having had enough of her current lifestyle when someone she'd previously thought was interested in her turned out to be only sharing her bed to increase her standing within the company, Jasmine packed up her bags and left.

Her destination? Chicago. Having chosen due to the proximity to her aunty and cousins, the peace and quiet of Chicago's Indigo Way seemed perfect to try and find her feet once again. Having not lived in the US permanently for many years, it was quite the culture shock to be moving back, especially under such circumstances. Having been living in the neighbourhood for only a few weeks, Jasmine has yet to properly find her bearings and settle in, nor has she been much of a social butterfly.

Likes:
-Being romanced; dates, walks, ect.
-Younger women.
-'Bad' girls.
-Quality conversation.
-Books and movies- fantasy, romance, drama.
-Art, despite knowing very little about the subject.
-Travelling.
-Small groups.
-Poise, manners and elegance.
-French speakers.

Dislikes: At least 4
-Large groups; they make her nervous.
-People who speak without thinking.
-Being the centre of attention.
-Taking things too quickly.
-People who refuse to let her pay for things.
-Talk of her family.

Ons: Anything new, exciting and a little kinky. Whilst she's never really come into contact with BDSM and any sort of D/s, she certainly holds some form of almost morbid curiosity about it. Though for the most part, playful kinkiness is what gets her truly going; blindfolds, light bindings such as scarves, and roleplay. For the most part she prefers her partner to take control, but every now and then, especially when she's frisky enough, it'll be Jasmine calling the shots.
Offs: She's yet to find anything she does not enjoy, though her sexual experience is rather limited.
Additional Details:
-Her scar came from falling off of a horse when she was a young girl.
-For the most part she knows nothing about 'nerdy' things, though she's rather curious.
-Was never really one for sport; does what she was to to keep fit, but hardly enjoys it.

Thoughts? A little less fleshed out than I'd like, but I guess it's a start :/

Chrystal

My only real thought is that Chicago is NOT a small town! Also, if you want realism, you need to have some very special reason to get into the USA other than as a visitor - so she's either an illegal immigrant or she has unique skills that mean an employer has sponsored her for a green card, or she's on a student visa... I don't think the US Immigration service is corrupt enough that you can buy a visa, not yet, anyway... *winks*

Just my personal thoughts on the subject...

I would say the same as Chrystal. I'd say Indigo Way is a pretty small neighborhood within Chicago, though, if that's what you might have been trying to go for.

Other than that, the character looks pretty good to me. :-)

That's what I was worrying about as well, the reasoning is rather weak..and yes, I know Chicago hardly counts as small :D I guess I read the community bio wrong and assumed Indigo Way was separate from the city.

As for not being able to buy a visor..well..I'd seriously doubt it being not possible actually. I'll change her bio around a bit so her Father was a US citizen.

Nowherewoman

As the French-born daughter of a US national, she'd have, I believe, dual citizenship in France, but the US is still weird about things like that. She'd have to renounce her French nationality to establish a long-term residence, but just visiting, even for an extended period, would likely just be a matter of filling in the proper forms (and we know how the French AND DC looooove paperwork...)

If she's an artist or musician, there are also specialty visas that allow temporary residence for work. I can't recall the form number right now, but they exist.

I had a quick internet search and it seems as if you can actually hold both citizenships without having to relinquish either, as long as you go from American to French, rather than the other way around. So..think I'll leave it at that, or there's going to be stupid amounts of specifics I'll have to research and think up, just so it makes slightly more sense.

Nowherewoman

*nod* yeah, sorry if I was unclear. Most EU countries allow EU-plus-US citizenship, AFAIK. It's the US that gets the quiffies about it. Outbound, you can keep your US passport; inbound, you cannot keep your NON-US passport, and still claim US citizenship.
