Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a world where Vampires¹, Were-animals², witches³, zombies⁴ and all those other mythical beings walk along side regular Human's?  What would you do if these beings where not only known to the world, but where legalized citizens?  These are the type of questions that this game will center around. 



Las Vegas is usually a well oiled machine, a place filled bursting at it's seams with sin and decadence.  But what many people don't see is that underneath the lights and glitz that is associated with this oasis that is known at Las Vegas, there's an underbelly of preternatural activity.  The city is firmly controlled by the Master Vampire, and so far it's ran smoothly, with only the occasional bumps and challenges that could be expected to plague such a city. 

But lately something has threatened the peace that has enveloped the city.  The number of newly turned is startling, threatening to overwhelm the cities population.  The fact that a majority of these newly turned are minors only adds to the problem, since it's a death sentence offense.  So with the threat of law enforcement intervening, something must be done.  But what?  And who can be behind such an act?



So, in case you haven't noticed yet, this game idea is loosely based on the Anita Blake series.  I'm staying away from the cannon characters and the city the books focus on, and the only thing from the books this game would be focusing on would be the preternatural⁶ aspect.

It'll be modern but AU at the same time.  The choice of who and what you are is yours, but choose wisely.  The Vampires are kept in check by the Master of Las Vegas.  The Tigers are the Masters Animal to call, and as such the were-tigers⁵ can be directly controlled by their Queen and the Master himself.  The other Were's in the city live in small groups, and mainly keep to themselves, but they too live under the rule of the Master.  There are also animators, vaudun priests and necromancers, that focus on raising zombies.  In this game there will be quiet a few positions that can be filled, all these positions will be listed for your perusal.  I plan on this game to be slow paced, so if you need a fast moving game, this probably wont be for you.  You do not need to have read the books to participate in this game.

What do we call all the different Were groups?

I got this information from the anita Wiki, so it might be incorrect.  If it is, please tell me so I can fix it.  Also from what I can find, most if not all groups have a special name per localized group.  In the books, the streak in vegas was called the white clan.

Lion : Pride
Leopard : Pard
Rat : Rodere
Hyena : Clan
Wolf : Pack

First Arc: Current : The MOTC has to face down a crisis, when his cities threatened by one of his own.

Second Arc: Planned : The Ulfric has to do something in order to stop the mysterious deaths of his pack members.

Third Arc: Not planned through yet : The Vampire Council comes to town, what can this mean for Vegas' preternatural world?

¹In the Anita Blake World, vampires are blood-drinking former humans who had been infected and turned at some point in their life. After their human death, they have risen to prey on the blood of the living.  For more information of Vampires and facts on what can and will harm them go here.

⁸ The Usurper is the Vampire that is trying to usurp the Master of Las Vegas' position.  The Usurper is also the one behind the growing number of newly turned, and all the terrorist activity that is aimed directly at the Master.

I'm glad I got someone interested in this game so soon.  As for positions of power, like the Master of Las Vegas, the Ulfric, the Pomme de Sangs, body guards and such, it won't be on a first come basis.  So once we get enough interest I'll put up a character template, and the bio's can be PM'ed to me for approval.

I would love to have an animator in this game, because come on, who doesn't like zombies lol.  It's completely understandable why you would be leery of Vampire games, since it can be rather cliche.  But let me assure you that, although this arc is focusing on the vampire aspect of the Las Vegas, the next arc will probably shift towards another preternatural.  I just haven't thought that far ahead as of yet.

Actually I was thinking of having a triumirate.  At first I thought that it was something that had to be initiated by a Sourdre de Sang, or regular Vampire Master, but since Anita was able to create a second one, I'm assuming that as long as theirs a vamp/were/human, anyone can do it? 

If I where to allow it, than there would have to be massive restrictions.  Well not massive per say, but there would be a few.  I wouldn't allow more than three unless we have a huge influx of characters, since it'd be a bit ridiculous if there where a bunch of people running around with one. And..er actually that would be the only restriction, but hey it basically says it all.

I'm also thinking about opening up a few slots for RPIT officers, since the police will be involved in the game.  If I do it, those would be the only(potential) humans in the game.

It would be great to hear some more about the Tigers/Wolves in that respect. Also, their abilities, how individual they are and how they view Vampires...I imagine there's a bit of tension with the Wererats? Are they the weakest of the three lycan species?

Also, one last thing, are we talking modern Vegas, as it is today? I've been a couple of years ago, I remember quite a bit about the place...hard not to, really!

Yup, I can see why you wouldn't want to play a witch when your already playing one in another game.  But there's a lot of different slots you can take, so if you do decided against playing a witch, than your not lacking in choices.

By no means, if we don't get an Ulfric than he'd be an NPC, although I really hope we get that slot filled.  I think Aiden might be interested in it, but I'm not sure.  The Tigers are the main pack, yes.  But only because they're the Masters animal to call.  Which means that the vampire Master can directly order or compel the Tigers to do his will or bidding.  In effect they can be us as brute force if need be.  In the books it was the wolves that where the animal to call, so I'm changing it up a bit.

I can give you some info on them sure, and I'll give you the link to the wiki about these specific preternatural.  The Tigers in this game will be the largest pack, and the other groups of were's are just small packs that keep mostly to themselves.  They have a number of abilities, but for the most part I'll just list some here.  They can shift at any time, although the full moon will force a shift.  So when there's a night of the full moon, they all gather in their particular groups and hunt together.  They do have accelerated speed, reflexes, and senses, that are vastly superior to what a regular human being would have. 

They are pack creatures, and the comfort of a pack is indeed critical at times.  They don't have any ingrained prejudices against the vampires, and vice versa.  They are actually all seen as monsters and freaks by the non preternatural humans, so when it comes to interaction their more likely to hang out with vamps than regular humans.  In fact, no one is ever really willing to allow regular humans to know what they are, because although being prejudice against them is against the law now, they can still find themselves being fired from their jobs or even singled out for persecution.  It's even mentioned that in some states, if their identity is well known they can be hunted down and killed.

For info on the rat's you can go here.  The Rat's are actually really interesting.  They are highly militaristic, and make excellent body guards.  Their human forms do not need to be small or meek like people would assume.  They have the power to smell death on a person,  so they can tell if someone almost died, or was brushed with death.  They are in all actuality very powerful, and in fact really cool.

Okay, you're awesome because I hate super moody 'omg I'm dead, woe is me' vamp, or any other kind of character for that matter.  It's annoying as all hell to put up with.  As for the 'super dominant' characters, well this game will have elements of dom/sub, and some character slot's do have a natural predilection to be a  "top player" but those are mainly the Vampire Master, and pack leaders.  I'll make sure that no one goes over the top with it though. Along with this, everyone who's played with me before, knows I don't put up with godmodding, or any of the other variants of this.  And as for cannon, I've said this before, but this game is not based on any of the characters, or even the same town, hell the books characters don't even exist in this game.  The only thing I'm taking from it is the politics, and premise that these preternatural beings exist legally next to regular humans.  That being said, if something is so far off that even I can see it(which is something, since I haven't read the books) I'll politely and most likely privately point it out.

All the character slots that are open, are listed in the first post of this thread, and the character thread.  RPIT is on that list though, so yups it's up for grabs at any time.  The main positions that I would like to be filled before the start of the game would be, the Vampire Master, the pack leaders, and the Usurper; which shouldn't be a problem since it looks like those positions are going to go fast.  But don't let that stop you from grabbing another character slot.  If it comes to it, I'll just shrink down the scope of the game to center on a smaller group of individuals, which doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Also, if you check out the first post in this thread, you'll notice that I've added the Arc descriptions.  As of right now, the current plot will focus on a power struggle with the MOTC and the Usurper.  The second one will swing it's focus to mysterious murders involving the Werewolves, and the third will introduce the Vampire Council. I haven't thought about anything further, since I don't usually plan too far into a game.

Well if your vamp is a supporter of the Usurper, than I just might have to advertise for a non NPC Vampire gone Usurper.  That way it'll give your vamp something to bounce off of(that sounded suspiciously like an innuendo, but wasn't meant as one.)  If she wont be a Usurper supporter, than you won't have to mind about playing with a NPC leader, since we just got our MOTC a few hours ago.

As for the Usurper plot, I'm working out the kinks.  His turning of minors, is basically to show that his morality it questionable, and that his actions risk the progress that the preternatural community has made towards basic rights in the city and the U.S as a whole.  If people start seeing them as a bigger threat, than what they already consider. Violent act's can increase, and their hard won rights could be stripped away.    Beyond that, his actions will escalate to dangerous levels, all of which I'm so not gonna reveal here lol. 

But either way, another vampire would be incredibly useful.  :)

         It's been a while since I read the books...  Now I want to pick up the last couple, myself.  But I don't recall seeing too much said about them, either.  It was a little different in the series, because some pommes were also werecreatures or otherwise gifted.  Those can have more high-powered roles to play in the power struggles, apart from providing sustenance. 

          I think it's mostly a steady food/energy source.  Becomes more important for those who have large energy needs, or more specialized types of need/taste in food.  Being one can also be something of a prestige (or danger) factor in the vampire/fan/paranormal communities, as places one "close to ear" of the biter on a regular basis.  Or perhaps it's the other way around!

Not all these positions need to be filled, in fact I doubt very much they all will be.  But view this as a guide of what's available, only these characters are available.  If you want a position that's not listed, well, sorry it won't be allowed.  That being said suggestions on adding positions is more than welcome, but regular humans will not be in this game outside of NPC's unless I think it fits into the story arc. This game will not be on a first come first serve basis, so make sure your character applications are awesome! I will be updating this list over time, so positions can/will be added and subtracted.  All Characters will be older then 18, unless your the newly turned vampires, those characters will be 17, nothing younger please.  The Master as well as the Usurper will need to be older than 200 years, the older the better; but nothing too out there as an age.  Non vamps are not immortal-esq.  When a were shifts they shift into their animal and/or a man beast.

        Sent a sheet.  I just made a loyalist vamp, so there's no great pressure to get a PC usurper there.  Although I have to admit, the idea of being in the bevy of young usurper victims was pretty tempting too  ;)

Lol, that idea is tempting!  But I'm glad you chose a loyalist, makes it easier for me :)  I' haven't read it yet, but I'll get to it right after I post here.

Dis...   looking at the links etc you provided makes me want to read the books!  also, i can't find anything other than the basic definition of the Pomme.  i am assuming they are not equivalent to the 'human servant' that goes through the four marks. 

Kylie answered that perfectly for me.  I don't see why a pomme couldn't also be a human servant, but I think Masters usually choose powerful humans as servants, someone who could somehow benefit them.  In the books Anita was an Animator/necromancer, Marshal, vampire hunter, Lupa and so on and so forth. 

Which reminds me, Kylie a human servant going through the marks, is a triumvirate thing right?  So if for example if the Master wanted a Human servant he would still need a were to close the triangle right?

Do you need anymore Male's I was directed this way by auroraChloe. I can pick a role you need filled or make a vampire or werewolf.

Of course we can use more males :)  As for roles, we do need an Usurper(although I'm seeing the benefit of having him/her a NPC more and more.  But a wolf would be really handy!  I still have to go over and nag Aiden into finishing his character bio, but why not be the were-doctor in the wolf tribe, I'm thinking this game needs a doctor.

Heh.)   Next, there is only a limited and experimental understanding of what sorts of triumvirates are possible.  There are only a few in the entire series.  It's one of the ongoing mysteries, revealed in bits and pieces here and there.  They do seem to all involve vampires (or similar leaders), weres, and a servant or follower of the vamp...    I don't remember all of the details so well now, but the triumvirates are mentioned on various web pages.  Doing the best I can...

Leaving alone the general usefulness of the marks...  I don't think many plan out a triumvirate per se.  I got the impression that sometimes, they just find that they relate and can share power in ways that count as one.  I think some might also wish to have one and not be able to, or not imagine it possible for their joint personalities or power levels.

Check, I got that part :)  As for the surprise powers, I was thinking about people putting up ideas of powers(within limits) that they wouldn't technically want for their own characters, and I would randomly throw them at people as time goes by.  So the powers could be the proverbial wrench in this game that people get and gain randomly.  Ehhh even as I write this it sounds too complicated, so I'll be thinking about this, and of course everyone's opinions are welcome here.

See I figured the Anita getting 'vampire powers' where directly connected to the fact that she was in a triumvirate with Jean Claude, but than if that was the case, I guess Richard would have had the same powers bestowed on him.  And without giving too much away, she does eventually have a second triumvirate with Nat and Dam. 

So all in all, I'm thinking in this game, Yes the MOTC, and any vampires(although I don't technically know if this is only pertaining to high level vamps) could have a relationship(both romantically or not) that involves marks, that is not exclusive to a triumvirate.  So I guess what I'm getting at is, that the MOTC's Pomme de sang could have marks with her master; and in affect become his human servant.

And yay, we now have two more characters added to the list, which is awesome!  I really want to fill in some of the WereRat spots, but if no one is interested, than I could change it to another were group.  What do you all think?  Check in here with your opinions on if I should change the wererats to another group, and suggest what were group you would like to take their place.  There's a list in the first post of this thread, but keep in mind there might be more than what's listed there, those are the ones I'm aware of.

I also want to talk threads.  Lately all my games have focused on one thread, which is something I prefer so that a game doesn't end up being too spread out.  But for this one I'm thinking two or three might work out.  I want one specifically for Sid's house, which will house all/most of her tigers(at least the PC's), A thread for the Vampires main base(Which needs to be determined), and a thread for Vagas itself. 

In the Anita Blake books, the vampire head quarters is the Circus of the Damned, I'm sorta thinking that in  this game it could be a casino that's vampire themed maybe?  It's up to those playing vampires.  When this arc ends, and we have some character development, I can open up another thread for the wolves, since the second arc focuses on them.

I did contemplate having her have a huge house, but I rather like the idea of her having a medium sized two story house on the out skirts of the glitz of Vegas.  Not all of her streak will live there, but most if not all of the Tiger PC's could.  So yups, constantly tripping over all those tiger shifters in the morning, while she's on the way to the bathroom will probably be an everyday occurrence lol.

I like the idea of having a statue of the Lady of fortune(Lady luck) in the front of the casino.  It could be a huge fountain, and in the middle there's the statue.  It can be a kind of myth, that if you throw a coin and have it land at the very base of her feet, it can bring you good luck and fortune at the tables.  Okies I have this part thought up, I'll work on the thread tonight, but again it wont be open for posting until next week when Chloe gets back.

Yay, so the Las Vegas thread is up, but not open yet.  That's the last thread, for now, that needs to go up for now.  So technically we are all set thread wise.  All those that have characters that live in the main Vegas thread, tell me about locations you want me to insert into the description.  Is there certain businesses that need to be put in?  Where do your characters work? Live?  Keep in mind that any preternatural being can work in the casino, but only vampires and the MOTC's Pomme live there.  As for other were groups, Animators, and RPIT members, tell me about your homes/work places.  As the story unfolds, and we merge into other arc's, more threads will go up for these specific places.  But for now they will be located in the main Vegas thread, so give me details now lol.

We have three more days until this game is officially open to post in, so we need to talk details out now.  Once the thread goes up, I'll open an official OOC thread.  So the things I want opinions on are:

Character connections- Who knows who prior to the start of this game? Did they grow up together?  Have business together?  Even date at some point in time?

Character intentions-  Who wants to create character connections after the start of the game?  Ideally everyone will get a chance to interact with each other at some point in time.  But this is for the more specific things.  For example, Trevor Broddick, our vampire hunter/Animator will be coming in and will be hired by Sid to look into the disconcerting illegal vampire actions happening around the town, this is completely going to happen behind the Masters back, but will eventually come to his attention at an appropriate time in the story line.  Does anyone else want something like this with their characters?  This does not include character relationships, or who's sleeping with who.  I figure everyone can figure out who they want their characters paired up with during the game, if they want their characters to be paired up at all lol.  And I completely support the idea of there being poly relationships, not just monogamous ones in this game.  Also this isn't just a hetero game either, so the more same sex pairing the better in my mind :)

Locations- Mentioned above in the first paragraph of this post, I mention people giving me details about their businesses and homes within the main vegas thread.  I definitely want to discuss this.

Other- Any other topics people want to discuss or ask about, feel free to.  This also includes changes or improvements on plot, if people want them than I will definitely look into it.

All weres have that animal form they are part of, a stronger were can go into the "hybrid" form of half human and were and everyone has their "human" shell.

If you want to be a scout, your four legged form can "specialize" in stealth and recon.

Gonna talk to Dis, find our "wolf grounds" and they can all meet for the first time on the eve before a full moon. (it will be some instinct that calls them all to gather).

It's no problem if you haven't read them in a while, this game's only very loosely based off the series.  They can join, but no one would know that you're character ia a were.  There's a lot of prejudice against were's, and if the boss people knew, they'd find a way to fire your charrie.

Well for RPIT, animators and witches are allowed, in fact one perminant RPIT member, and another who's associated with them are animators. 

Right now, for were's you can choose between the tigers and wolves.  I need a lot of Tigers, since they're the main were's in the city.  But we can always use a lot of wolves to.

Well for the wolves, most of the main positions are already taken.  Tell me what the Hati does and I'll tell you if it's filled.  I don't know all the positions so I only put the ones I do know.

I know close to nothing about the different position in the white clan(tigers,) but I am looking for someone to be second in command, enforcer(I don't have another name for it in her clan) and regular members.  I need a lot of tigers, since their the main were group in Vegas.
