Playtesting video games and writting porfessionally.  That would be my ideal way to spend my life.  Like Lirliel said tho, dreams.

Ahhh...the amazing abilities of the ''ifs'' and fantasy laced ideals. Well there are quite a few jobs I would like....in the entertainment world, I'd love to be a writer/comedic actor and in the ''every day, normal'' world I'd prefer to be a psychologist....varying in a field from the civil court to sexual in nature. Maybe if I get off my bum and get to school I can make that second one a reality.

AutumnFury

I'm going to school to be a lawyer, corperate.. Maybe work for ebay, yay!

Or, a fashion designer. I also have an idea that I'm working to copyright and sell. -nodnodnod.- Adult clothing, yay!

Ahhhhhh....the dreams of the young.......

I've dropped out of all that money making crap and have my ideal job.

I make weapons props and costume for live role play.
Not a lot of money in it, but it keeps the PC running and I get to claim going to events as a tax loss!

(Oh plus I have two fantastic guys to work with)

Damn, that must be sweet. Tax write off for conventions? *mind shutters at the thousght*

Yep and to go and play at events.

For sheer hilarity, it was hard to beat my first career: providing technical support via a call center for a major PC manufacturer.  I can't say it was my dream job overall...the pay sucked and my supervisor was a total asshole.

But if you could set that aside, the job really was funny.  The humor might be lost on some people though...but I think you all might just appreciate it.  What follows are lessons computer customers can learn from actual tech support calls from across America taken, monitored, or otherwise recorded by me in my building.

First off, we don't support mods to your system.  So, if your computer keeps overheating because you wrapped the whole case (including the cooling fan) in tinfoil to keep the government and space aliens from reading your e-mail, tough shit.

If you lose a part to your system, that's not covered by warranty.  Not even if aliens abduct you and take parts of your computer to "sample Earth technology" before returning you to the middle of a crop circle.

We also don't cover intentional damage to your system.  So if you lose your Windows password, scream "here's your fucking piece of shit computer," and audibly throw your system across the room, that's really not my problem.  Ditto if you kick in the case because you couldn't beat the trolls in Everquest.

If you have an accent, we'll still try to work with you, even if you have a Southern accent so thick you could walk on it.  But please make sure thh telephone equipment on your end is working properly.  If you put us on hold, you take your chances...if your hold ain't workin', me might just hear ya on your other two lines, arrangin' a cross-burnin' on one, and runnin' your house o' ill repute on the other.  And remember that we do record calls, and we want novice techs to be able to handle unconventional situations like this, so you call might get played to whole training classes.  Just for quality assurance purposes, of course.

And if you surf porn sites, clearing all your caches and history files is NOT covered by the tech-support agreement, even though two to five folks a week call in with this issue.  If you'd at least be honest and ADMIT that YOU surfed PORN and you're trying to avoid sleeping on the couch the next week, we might decide to make an exception and bail you out.

Your call may be very important to us, but that doesn't mean we'll get to it right away.  But don't forget, your call IS important, and we will answer it...eventually.  Perhaps after you've forgotten you were on hold, set the phone down somewhere, and decided to have sex with your sig.other on the bed next to the phone.  When your call is finally answered, we'll hear it all.  I did, on several occasions.  And don't forget quality assurance...

We are tech support, not law enforcement.  So if all the homeless people in your city are conspiring to kill you, and the only way you can stop them is to get your computer fixed, that's really a situation best reported to your police department.

We are tech support, not Mental Health.  If your computer has been invaded by aliens from the planet Neptune who are trying to read your thoughts, hang up.  We can't help you.  Try dumping your system in the landfill...maybe the layers of fast-food wrappers, dirty diapers and tin cans will block their signal.

And, lastly, recreational drug use while operating your computer can have unpredictable side effects.  If in the course of using your computer, you notice your hands turning blue and becoming able to bend in all directions at will, you may wish to reduce your intake of mind-altering substances.

So yeah, if they'd pay me $25 an hour and not bitch when I'm two minutes late from lunch or if I decide to play a Flash game while someone reboots their system for the fifth time, tech support would be my dream job.

Elvi

All your points have been duely noted and kept for future reference......*grins*

Now I never said I had to be overly famous or make a bundle of money...those are just some things I'd like to do....hell if given the chance I'd write for a dinner theater if the results were worth it....a show that everyone enjoys and all those involved having a helluva fucking blast.  Money sure as hell aint everything and it comes in afar distant third to happiness with the job and having a job to begin with.

Writing can be nice.  I just completed a contracted script for an independent film company (not my own).  I'm hoping to be getting the money soon as I am living very cheaply right now.

Honestly jester, you could write all you want, you just have to have an 'in' to get anything done.  Heck, copyright your stuff, then give me a look (shameless plug) and I might see what's up.  My company is working on an anime series and a Rally Driving movie right now.  I can always use more.  And I suck at comedy or even mystery.

Since Lilac's out of commision for the next few days, it's supposed to be my duty to point out to you people that we have rooms not available for general public viewing :-p

Anyway, I've started my own freelance tech support business.  While I'm making somewhere in between jack and squat right now (well, I suppose a bit more than that, am paying for this place...), there is nothing that compares to the feeling of raw liberation I get from being my own damned boss!

I don't have many amusing stories to tell.  One couple had a son that was rather into porn (particularly this girl named Jordan Capri, can't fault his taste), and loaded down his parent's computer with so much spyware that it was unrunnable.  The spyware even started up in safe mode (actually see that a lot now).

Unfortunately his parents were pretty laid back about him being into porn.  Damnit.  That kid made me work for my money!

Guess I'm just boring - I can't think of anything that would be my 'dream job' as I find the very thought of routines and working for anyone (including myself) soul destroying!

My dream would be simply not to work at all and actually have time to do all the things I want to do and pick up all the things I've had to drop due to lack of time from working - start up my band again, continue with my martial arts, learn to sword fight (no, not fencing - sword fighting... theres a big difference), dedicate more time to working out, learn a couple of languages etc

The lists endless!

I've played around with replica hand axes before, they seem so more fluid and natural in my hands for me than swords - give me a battle axe in each hand and I'm ready to go!

They are a two handed weapon and were use as the claymore was more as a tool to smash skulls and bones, than to cut flesh

I wouldn't mind learning how to properly wielda sword... long, short, scimitar, or an axe (single hand axes and double bit battle axe), staff (including short spear).  For my height and build, I don't think I would want to wield, though I would be interested in learning, the larger swords and whatnot.

The claymore (the true type not the poncy pretendy ones in the films) are made to the length of the persons body who is to use it. They are frightening when you frist get hold of one, but it is a matter of practice. In reality, it didn't matter whether they have a sharp edge or blunt because you used to use them to beat your opponant to death, though if you were able to hit with the cutting edge, it could easily cleave a mans head in two or take off an arm by the shoulder.

Other swords had other uses.
The war hammer and battle axe basically stong and heavy enough to batter anyone in plate maile.
Short swords for stabbing, sabre mostly for cavilery use.......the list goes on.

Unfortunately I don't have the opertunity for 'real' weapons use now, so I resort to my huge array of larp safe weapons and beat people to 'death' with rubber and latex....

Well, right now I look more male than female, being in the beginning of the sex change. I do have small breasts (Yay! I love hormones  ;D), but I was a decent looking male, I will be a average looking (at best) woman. So far. That could change. There are not many where I live, that would want to go out with a T-girl.

RogueJedi

Zakharra,

I know what it is like being a T-girl.  I haven't even begun hormones yet, though I guess i am lucky (or unlucky depending on who you ask) in that I have always appeared feminine.  It has made my life difficult since I live in one of the bastions of Redneck Culture (not that there is anything wrong with that).  But, chin up sis, eventually things will work out.  And I don't know where you live, but the are T-girl escort services even here in Virginia.

Zakharra

Virginia? Heh. I live in North Idaho. Where the rednecks, Satanists, White Supremists, survival nits and wackos are thick in the woods. Heheh.. That being said, there are more T-girls here than I thought. About 30 or so, so I am not alone and i'm not too scared of any violence against me when I do come out publicly.

I have been on hormones for nearly a year now and I love it. They are pricy, but it's a price that I'm willing to pay. If I absolutely had to, I'm sure I could find work in the nearest cities from employers that didn't mind having a T-girl work for them.

*huggles RogueJedi, and Elvi, and everyone else*

Elvi

Now thats a slightly different problem.....but as I have friends who have gone through the whole thing now, your body does improve, so don't get all disheartened already give it time.
(Oh and from what I have seen those breasts will end up improving almost over night!)

Naw, I would love to be skilled enough in art to get a job. Probably graphic designer in my future (I have some history in work and I pick up the stuff fast... just... need the jobs~!) but as for my ideal job... I'd have to say art director for a game or design artist for a game. I excell at designing random weapons and characters. I literally can come up with 10 or more characters in a brainstorming session, all unique, all different. I drew every BESM character I've ever played and I never played one more than a week. >>;
