Neither of my girls are under 18, but I don't really think it's cool to force people to play 18+ when site rules allow for 16+. But that's just me.

Well, no one is being "forced". There are plenty of other superhero group games that they can play.

Then you get in to the question of who should be forced to go elsewhere? The person following the sites rules, or the person who wants to add to them? I think so long as 16-17 year old characters make sense in the setting (and there's no reason why they wouldn't make sense here), then bumping up the age limit serves no real purpose.
I want no ordinary lover. I want a storm. I want sleepless nights and endless conversations at four a.m. I want passion, I want madness.
I want someone who's able to make my whole body shiver from a distance and also pull me close to make sense of all my bones.

And then you run into the problem on the other side of the fence, of forcing people who are uncomfortable playing with teenage characters. It's not a dealbreaker for me (though it's damn close), but I will avoid their character sexually even if they're OMFGWTFBBQAMAZEBALLS and we could plot out the most awesome side story ever.

I apologize to Lunar and Josi for making this decision hard, but opinions were asked for and I gave mine.

I personally don't understand why E permits play between 16-17 year-old-characters.  It's illegal in the United States.  I understand the reasoning: some states have an age of consent set at sixteen.  But American citizens are usually governed by both state law and federal law.  And "the age of consent for sexual activity in a given state is irrelevant; any depiction of a minor under 18 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct is illegal." This is exactly why I prefer everyone's characters to be above 18. I understand that not everyone is from the States, but Elliquiy is based here and, in my opinion, would fall under this legality. I don't understand why someone would even want to play a teenager. If they person is canonically 16 or 17, bumping the age up a year or two isn't going to hurt anyone or the story. Besides, this is essentially an AU. This AU just has everyone being of legal age.

The real issue here is about the comfort level of the players.  We have multiple players thus far who have expressed discomfort about the age of characters allowed below 18.  Would making it 18 and older really cause anyone to be uncomfortable?  The number of Marvel characters who would fall under 16 to 17 is very few, and two of those characters were already going to be 18 or older before this discussion came up.

Also note that when you create your histories on your sheets, don't forget to add a bit about your character's involvement in the recent Kree invasion detailed in the game's setting description.

Brief History:   Born in New York to parents of Italian ancestry, Francis Castiglione is a former U.S. Marine Captain. Before Frank joined the Marines, he was studying to become a Catholic priest but changed his mind because he was unable to forgive those who did evil. Also prior to his enlistment, he married his wife Maria who was already pregnant with their first child. During his time in the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Castle graduated from Basic Training, then went on to Infantry School. Immediately following that, he went through the USMC's Reconnaissance, Force Reconnaissance, and Sniper Schools. Attaining dockets, Castle was permitted to go through U.S. Army Airborne School, and U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Team training, becoming qualified as a Navy Seal (Sea, Air and Land). He served in the Gulf War in a special forces unit as a point man. For heroism in the line of duty, he was decorated with numerous medals, including the Purple Heart.

Shortly after a tour in Iraq, Castle, his wife, Maria and their children were in New York's Central Park for an afternoon picnic when they witnessed a Mafia gangland execution; an informant had been hanged from a tree. Seeking to eliminate all witnesses, the Costa crime family murdered them on the spot. However, Castle survived. Even though Frank was able to identify all of the shooters the police were unable to help Castle in his quest for justice; they were tied in too deeply to the powerful Costa family. He decided that the only punishment criminals might receive is that of physical destruction. Shortly thereafter, he emblazoned his body armor with a symbol of a death's head, and exacted his revenge. Since then he has waged a one-man war upon crime, taking the name Punisher.

When the Kree attacked New York City, the Punisher fortified an apartment building in Queens and led a group of civilians in defending it with small-arms fire.  Though his small group suffered extensive casualties, they managed to fend the Kree off from the neighborhood.

I don't mind the age bump if the GMs feel it's appropriate. It doesn't seem like it would effect too many characters anyway.

Frank Castle is approved and posted in the approved character thread, PhantomPistoleer.  Welcome to the game.  :-)

Should be interesting to see how well he meshes with the heroes.  Are you planning on playing up the immense respect he has for Cap?  I remember in the comics he was shown to have been completely starstruck when he met Steve.  If not that's totally fine.  You can go with your own interpretation as long as the spirit of the character remains.

So my body has been being a scumbag and I'm having the hardest time trying to finish writing anything. But I promise you that I will have Lilith's sheet finished. I just need her description and I'm done.

Also... I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle two characters, but if I am, can I tentatively reserve one? If so, I'd like to reserve Dazzler. 'Cause fighting evil on skates never sounded so badass before.

Thank you.

The Punisher admires and respects Steve Rogers.

The relationship between the two is a bit more complicated, though.  In the comics, Captain America believes that the Punisher is an insane psychopathic criminal, whereas the Punisher believes that Captain America's methods ultimately just kick the can down the road.  I suppose you could say that one represents American idealism, while the other represents American pragmatism.

Nevertheless, my version of the Punisher is a bit more concerned about alien invasion and is willing to play nice.

Hey Swashbuckler!  Wander had expressed interest in Nightcrawler before as I recall.  I know he's settled on Hawkeye for sure but you'll have to ask him if he's ok giving up his tenetive claim on Kurt.  Johnny is wide open, though.

Broad note about the game: we have decided to set the age limit in this game to 18 and older for character ages due to majority player opinions on the matter.

I will also be largely unavailable today because of Sunday football.  Fair warning.

*purrs and cuddles*

I updated the character listing. I still need confirmations from Von Doom and wander on which characers you all want reserved.

Also to toss this out, we won't be doing 'villains turned hero'. Either they are one now or aren't. There is no gray area, with the slight exception of the Punisher.
I was looking over the cast list and Silver Sable caught my attention. I hadn't thought about this character in years, but when she had her own series I remember reading and being interested whereas the male-dominated merc stories like GI Joe or SHIELD never appealed to me. Kind of an early Danger Girl. The merc thing is not unique by itself, but Silver Sable's thing was that she took in reformed villains, including several of the Sinister Six, as a force for good called the Wild Pack. I guess her dad was basically Aldo Raine from Inglorious Basterds, so potentially it's that kind of story.

If there aren't going to be any reformed villains on the cast, then I suppose that only leaves Punisher?

How do you see Silver Sable fitting into this setting?

wander

I need a good RL face-claim for Clint.

Renner is just a bit old for comic-version Clint. I see Clint as being 30 or just over, he's in canon younger than Iron Man and he has this laid-back cool about him that Renner just hasn't brought to the screen yet. When I think of Clint, I think of the guy who looks like this;

And yes, Kate is 21 in that pic.

Dhi - Assuming my Psylocke is approved, I was sort of thinking that maybe there'd be room for a Secret Avengers style section, or something like that..the darker missions, etc. Perhaps something like that?

Wander- I always thought Jensen Ackles, Bradley Cooper, Ben Mckenzie, and Chris Pine would make good ones, though I do like Renner.
