Kinda cool... or could be really bad... I watched that show almost religiously in the earlier seasons but toward the later bits it just got weirder... and weirder... and less quirky but still weirder. Like, in a way I didn't like.

So I'll probably see it, but I don't know if I'll like it. :)

I tend to agree with you, although my husband and I watched the entire series through Netflix over the past 6 or 8 months and I gained a new appreciation for the later seasons.  Robert Patrick was really good in the show in my opinion.  Anyway, I hope it's a good movie too, but I can't help but be excited about the prospect.

Yeah, I feel this guilty little tingle of excitement. Heh. ;)

Hey, I just noticed your sig. Nick Cave for the win! :D

Yep, and interestingly enough, that song was used in an X-Files episode...

I was a huge X-files fan of the first few seasons.

I'd like to re-vist the entire series and I'll scope out the new flick.

It was pretty cool to watch every episode in order, without the commercials.

Indeed. I'll probably add missed seasons to my Netflix queue.

Being a HUGE fan since the first season (and having seen every episode)...I'm really looking forward to this, but I'm also really happy it isn't a mythology episode so the casual fans would be more likely to enjoy it. (hopefully)

SerpentKiss

meeeerrrr...I was more of a fan of the older stuff, the earlier series', when it was more about unexplained instances and stuff like that. When it changed to Smoking Man and the whole government conspiracies...it started to lose interest with me.

The mythology stuff was there from the first episode, although I am glad that the movie is going to be stand-alone.  I always loved the 'monster of the week' episodes.  Remember this one? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0751208/

So creepy and great acting by Doug Hutchison.

How could I forget, the first truly scary episode of the series (at least for me at the time).

The Overlord

X-Files was a great series. Everyone here's correct there were times it got really odd, quirky weird, but during the span of the series it kept true to what it was, and the overplot that carried to the series finale to the theatre.

It's similar to SG-1 in the fact that there were times it wasn't afraid to make light of its genre, if not make outright fun of itself. The episode Jose Chung's From Outer Space was among the quirkiest with a lot of curious references.

This is a series I catch most nights as it replays on at least two channels where I'm at. Along with older stuff like the Twilight Zone, it remains part of my inspiration in gaming and writing. Definitely up for seeing this one.
