Phoenix Academy: A Mass Effect Universe RP [Extreme sandbox, LGBTQ friendly]

Background:

It's been some time since the defeat of the Reapers. The galaxy is a better place, with no threat of something enslaving all intelligent species, or annihilating them. But not everyone is pleased with the current state of the galaxy. After all, at least one organization, Cerberus, was demolished through the efforts of Shepard. But even from the ashes, the Phoenix will rise! However, it is not enough to just copy the efforts of Cerberus, considering how that ended. To make Phoenix powerful enough to prevent one man from being able to destroy it, standards must be loosened for admittance, but not eliminated. Perhaps a recruitment drive could be beneficial...


What is this RP all about, anyways?:

This RP will basically take place about 25 years after the ending of Mass Effect 3. Which ending? An alternate ending where the Reapers were destroyed, but other AIs were left intact. Essentially, our characters will be "students" of the Phoenix "academy", training to earn their place in the group. It will not be easy, but should our characters succeed, they will have a place in a rising power, one hoping to do what Cerberus could not: take power and control of the government, and eventually the galaxy.

You may have noticed the line about standards being "loosened for admittance". The new Cerberus, going by Phoenix, is no longer human-centric. It's not about making humans the supreme power, but about making Phoenix the supreme power. For that reason, any species capable of helping with that goal is allowed a shot. That said, the rigors of the admittance process may not be easy for non-combative species.



What kind of character are you looking for?

Quite simply, this RP is open to all sorts of characters. As long as they are at least capable of working in violent situations, that is. Voluses are a bit risky due to the lore saying what happens if a bullet penetrates the suit. In addition, there should be some sort of reason for Phoenix to accept your character. After all, loosened standards doesn't mean there are no questions about who they accept.



I haven't heard any talk about the plot!

I suppose I have been rambling a bit, haven't I? Well, this isn't entirely a story that will be driven by me. I have ideas for plot elements, but this is more of a sandbox style game. Think of it like the Mass Effect games. There is a specific plot that will be followed up on, but that doesn't mean it will be railroaded. Rather, I'll be allowing for plenty of subplots. This RP is more about the characters than the overarching plot.


Are there any rules?

There are only a few rules, but I'll take them seriously.

First rule is simple respect. Before you post, think about whether you would want another person to do what you did in the post. That means no god-moding, no out-of-character insults, and things of that nature.

Second rule is to respect boundaries. Not everyone is all right with what you are all right with. While I don't have a problem with that in posting, persay, content warnings are meant to be used so people don't have to read things they are uncomfortable with.

Thirdly, if you have issues with the RP, or feel the need to pull out, or are going on an extended please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm fairly easy-going, and I won't take it personally, as well as being able to work on issues if alerted to them. What does bother me are people vanishing with no warning.

Finally, do NOT maim or kill another player's character without permission. While violence is a part of this RP and should be expected, anything permanent should be agreed between the involved parties. I will veto anything of this sort if I do not have confirmation that both parties are OK with it, and that means a confirmation from both parties, not just one side speaking for both.

Simply post! Once I get enough interest, I'll put up the character sheet template to be filled out, as well as an OOC topic. Once enough of those who have interest have sent me a character sheet via PM, I'll put up the story topics.

Yes, topics. The academy is a fairly large place, and there will be happenings in several areas simultaneously. To keep things somewhat orderly, I'll have the academy divided into five sectors, with another topic for more carnal fun, for a total of 6 topics.

In a way, but rather than being for "gifted" students, it's more along the lines of Quantico or any other training facility.

Biotics are not only fine, but welcome. When I said it isn't for "gifted" students, I didn't mean that biotics weren't welcome. I just meant it wasn't solely for biotics.

Ah ok. From what I remember of the universe; Biotics are gifted and sent to Grissom Academy to train their powers properly and eventually make them able to take part in combat and such. So I am guessing Biotics would be transfer students that are stable enough to be safe around normal students?

Well, stability isn't as much of an issue. Remember, for all their talk about being more inclusive, Phoenix is still looking at taking power in the galaxy. Having a few less-than-moral figures would help with that. Total nutjobs that couldn't be controlled, however, would probably not make the cut.

It been a while sense I played the games but I loved them all and waiting for the new one to come out. I think it's some time next year it will come out, still I like to see how well bioware will do this time. Anyways I would be interested, however are you going to add new race's in this or would it be best to stay with what's already known?

You might want to move it to the first post, it would get notice a lot faster, also being this is an Academy I would have to guess that most people would have to start there characters at age 16-18 or how would you want characters to start in this? I have one in mind already but I figure I ask this first before I do anything.

I mentioned in the first post what post the character sheet is on, but you may have a point.

As for age, they don't have to be younger. Basically, it's not like a military recruiting, where they are starting from scratch. With Phoenix, they take notice of you for some reason and recruit from there. For that reason, having older characters would work just as well.

Ok I am making a Krogan but there is something I need to ask in order to better describe him. You know on their skin or rather on their heads, is that like scales or some sort of skin plate or something?

I think the head pieces are basically plating, while the rest of their skin is more reptilian scales.

Also yeah a Krogan's head plate is thick and armored kind of like horns on goats. That's why you see them head butting each other all the time.

Stands to be 7 foot tall, weigh's over 800 pounds without any armor. Have dark gray scales and light green eyes.

Personality: Like most Krogan he is blunt and hold nothing back of what he thinks or feel. When meeting new people he tends to act like an ass to them not because he hate everyone but testing them and see how people would react. Depending of the reactions he would view them as either good would be friends or pests. To his friends and those he cares about he is loyal, respectful and do anything for them even if it would kill him. However he dose have a sort temper, that and if one betrays him he is not so forgiving. He takes revenge and payback very seriously.

Skills: Expert in hand to hand combat and able to use any weapon that is given to him or that he could find. Expert mechanic, survivalist, strong biotic and a very good cook.

History: Kalive was born an orphan and raised by an Asari mother and a Turian father. Though raising a krogan was a challenge they still raise and love him as his own and loved them in return. At the age 12 Kalive was taken to Tuchanka in order to learn how to be a full krogan, more or less like a boot camp but nothing what humans and other race's could have endure. Within seven years he learn how to fight and to survive both on planet and in space. It was within his the final month his biotic ability's started coming to life.

Those of Phoenix notice this and being that a it is very rare for a krogan to have biotics they took this opportunity to make an offer to Kalive. The offer would be that Phoenix would pay and perform the surgical procedure if he joined their academy program. Being the high mortality rate the alliance wouldn't do it even if he joined them, on top of that Kalive's parents didn't like the idea too well and afraid of losing their son. So Kalive made his own deal, would go though with it, if it fails Phoenix would have his parents set for life and if he live though he would go to the academy without question. Phoenix agreed. A week after the procedure Kalive was still alive, with that he said his fare wells to his parents and said he would visit them when he is able.

Weakness: He moves slow while in combat and have a short temper
Ons: Women, creampie, rough sex, gentle sex, anal.
Offs: Men, shemale, transsexual , vore, gore, bathroom play.

Other: Even though he enjoys any fight he could get into he also loves to cook. Also he have a soft spot for soft and human country music which helps relax him greatly.

OK, not too bad, but a few things. First, I'd like the character sheets PMed to me rather than posted, that way I can scrutinize and make suggestions in a more private setting rather than a post like this.

Secondly, the age is, I assume, in human years. However, krogan age quite a bit differently than humans. For example, Wrex is stated to be over 1,000 years old, so you may want to adjust the age to reflect that.

Thirdly, you list quite a few skills, and from quite a wide range. This is my fault, and I'll make a correction on the sheet template, but I'd like to have some weaknesses as well. It just makes the characters feel a little more balanced.

Finally, his history is a little unclear, and there is one other issue besides that. What is the surgical procedure? Is it something to do with his biotics? IIRC, biotics don't really need surgery. They have amps to control their powers, but nothing else, though I could be wrong. The other issue with the history is the time he has been in the Academy. Once again, I should have made this more clear, but the characters are new recruits. The start of the RP will be their arrival at the Academy.

The age it wasn't clear but it states they live much longer then Asaris, it was either Wrex or another krogan that have lived up to 1400 so far. So I took a wild guess and went with it being he would be still young but not like a little kid if that make since?

Now with skills being you said they are just starting then I would say he is not skilled with biotic's as of yet. However as it stated in wiki they become very skilled in combat very fast or that is how I understood it. He can still die by how a human can, however it is much harder becuase of his race. They are walking tanks for a reason lol. However I am not sure what weakness, I did point out he have a short temper and being he is a large guy he wouldn't be fast would be a given I think. Though what else would you recamend?

As for the biotics it saids on wiki they have to, need emplants in order to use the biotics, check out mass effect wiki and look on krogan and it will tell you. I have just spen about four hours looking up stuff and it is the best i can find.

Finally, after some consideration, the only real tweak your history needs is having him maybe be a member of Phoenix, but just recently enrolled in the Academy.

It is also because it is a show of dominance or when they challenge each other too. I thought it was funny when my fem shep gave herself whiplash from headbutting the Krogan who wouldn't shut up. XD
