Bahaha, I hate when that happens. "Man, I'm going to do this totally cool new concept-oh, never mind, someone just posted something that is too damn close to what I had in mind. TO THE DRAWING BOARD!"

Anyways, I shall probably work up a VC at some point in the near future. I might take 12th Div VC, though, because I started working on the character and he's very much an R&D dude. :|

ShadowFox89

It isn't that the concept is similar to anyone else's, it's that I need a plausible reason for the high spiritual pressure and having a physical form that is virtually never seen :P

@Zaer Darkwail I had a few questions as they will probably come up.

1 - What squad did the Captain and Lieutenant belong to that you killed, as that would obviously be common knowledge?

2 - We would all be aware of what his Shikai is wouldn't we? Since he was originally part of the squads before this all went down. Unless we are under the assumption that he killed a Captain and Lieutenant at the same time before he had known what his Shikai was capable of? Which if that is the case sounds kind of ridiculous.

3 - Is this character going to be an antagonist? Bullying aside, killing a Captain and a Lieutenant is pretty heavy. I can't really think of a reason why he wouldn't be a 'kill on site' kind of enemy.

Killing a squad member would be plausible... not something like killing a captain. Not even Soul Society Arc Ichigo was capable of actually killing one of the captains.

There can be noble families, and one can be names Shihoin, but the Onmitsukido is technically non-existant, falling under Squad 2. Different factions and the like will become available with more interest.

ShadowFox89

*nods* Okay. The previous was misleading, thought you said Shihoin wouldn't be a noble house :P

And you said that it'd be possible to have squads that are usually general as specialized? Could I have Squad 6 designated as Internal Affairs of Seireitei? Basically handling fights between squads, murders, etc.

I am thinking he belonged to 11th squad (or whatever is considered the 'battle specialist' squad).

My char was rank and file member of the squad and only special was that he was tossed there directly from academy with order from his mentor to make him a 'warrior' because he had one critical weakness which hindered his shinigami career; Hemophobia. So the captain and lieutenant both in turns started shape up their recruit as they did not want him slow down the squad as dead weight (as said they were major dicks in this way). But somepoint the bullying went too intense and during the pain of bullying he learned his sealed Zanpakutō's name first time. Considering he was bullied because he was weak so he with anger announced name of his Zanpakutō.....and he could not control his own sword at all and it's power which throwed both captain and lieutenant off guard (as neither expected him pull Shikai from his ass). Plus I am thinking a shikai level power which can slay anyone who is not prepared for it (or when surprise someone).

Not being antagonist but more as person who lives in exile but tries to do good things. He is good hearted person in heart and he did not intent kill the Captain nor Lieutenant but he nor regrets it (he has awful memories from both guys). So he does not want executed and killed from being murderer so he panicked and ran and also strictly sealed his Zanpakutō so it's power would not be unleashed even by accident (as he cannot control it and he does not want kill people).

ShadowFox89

Zaer, maybe you should type up what you plan on for a shikai that would be able to kill both a lieutenant and captain. Even Soi Fon's zanpakuto require's two hits in the exact same spot.

Player: Zaer Darkwail
Name: Shuda Kazuhiko
Division: None (rogue, former member of 6th squad)
Rank: None (rogue, formerly unseated shinigami)
Appearance:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Strengths:

Rare Zanpakuto: Kazuhiko's sword has very rare abilities which both can be used for killing and healing. But in return it's very difficult to master and control.

Kido Expert: Kazuhiko is skilled in Kido, especially in Bakudo.

Healer: He is highly skilled in spirit healing and medicine (and indirectly expert also in poisons/drugs).

Sharp Perception: Kazuhiko overall has very sharp senses and is able make notice of things what other misses, subtle clues or notice when things are amiss. Even if at times he is not sure why something is amiss at first.

Weaknesses:

Hemophobia: Kazuhiko has outright terror for blood. Become paralyzed and go catatonic upon seeing it and go nauseous upon feeling or smelling it.

Physically feeble: Kazuhiko is not tough, strong nor fast. Below average of normal rank and file shinigami. It's not because he is lazy or did not work out, he simply either has no physical talent or simply lacking body energy pull off said feats successfully. But he can stay wake even while exhausted and have lots of stamina and endurance.

Poor swordsman craft: Kazuhiko is below average shinigami in swordplay, his reflexes and overall skill is lowest compared any other shinigami (ten year olds can kick his ass if they had practiced from young age).

Poor self-esteem: Because of his flaws Kazuhiko does not recognize nor acknowledged things which he is good at. Resulting that he lacks confidence in anything he does and would not take initiative or make decisions and at times be silent when he should talk.

Zanpakutō:
Name: ブラッククラッド芸者 (Burakkukuraddo geisha; Black-clad Geisha)
Shikai

"Perform, Burakkuraddo geisha!" Upon this invocation Kazuhiko's Zanpakutō transforms into a pair of sai's. The weapons cannot injure nor kill anyone (the blades are simply that blunt). However it's actual power is more closer to kido than actual combat technique. The both sai's can manipulate sound waves, weaken, strengthen them and direct them. However it asks great deal of focus and skill able control this power as it can easily go out of control and direct sound waves in ways what wielder would not desire it to. At this stage sounds cannot kill living beings but it can shatter/weaken physical objects and structures (depending on size and solidness of said things) and also cause pain and stun living things.

Bankai

Have not discovered yet.

History:

Shuda Kazuhiko is son of Shuda noble family and as tradition he was send to shinigami academy despite his own wishes (pressured by his father who is retired shinigami hero). He did not excel anyway in combat in school; in swordplay nor in offensive kido. But he showed great skills in medical arts and also in seals, barriers and binding. So he did not fluke but he graduated in way which displeased his father. More so he was displeased from secret shame of Kazuhiko which prevents him becoming doctor; hemophobia.

For his own good father send him toughest squad after graduation; squad 6. Giving a direct permission for both captain and lieutenant use whatever measures toughen Kazuhiko up and become even half-decent warrior. Kazuhiko was put on trials, practices and once seeing the kinder methods did not work the lieutenant and captain went more and more extreme forms of bullying as means to make him into a warrior despite his natural feebleness or lack of skill in swordplay (and forcibly try remove his hemophobia). Kazuhiko suffered and anguished everyday, but squad kept silent about it because Kazuhiko was reason why others in squad suffered also because him being dead weight in squad combat operations. Kazuhiko tried demand transfer or even quite from squad 6, but either lieutenant, captain or his own father prevented paperwork never completed.

During one intense physical beat up bullying Kazuhiko heard faint voice....a femine voice whisper from his sword...hearing her whisper her name and kindly grasp and use her to show Kazuhiko is not weak! Show strength of his spirit and resolve. Kazuhiko then called on his zanpakutō's name in front of captain and lieutenant! Unaware of his zanpakutō's abilities he shouted and waved wildly with his sai's. His weapons collected the sound of his shouting, empowered it and send it sharp high frequency pitch on support and foundations of the squad 6 HQ by random luck. As result soon whole building started shake and with abrupt action it collapsed! Crushing captain and lieutenant of squad 6 before they had time to react and also killing dozen other shinigamis who happened to be in building at the time. Only reason why Kazuhiko survived because he screamed and covered himself with his weapon, which collected his screams and turned into defensive stone rupturing shield above him to prevent crushed by stone but coated in stone fragments and dust.

Upon seeing destruction what he caused and then learning his weapon caused it....he ran and hided from shinigami patrols which reacted late to his escape because collapse of Squad 6 caused both chaos and nobody knew what happened until one survivors told seeing Kazuhiko fleeing the scene with zanpakutō. Kazuhiko strictly sealed his zanpakutō to point he no longer heard voice of the zanpakutō at all and placed even enchanced peace string on his katana so it cannot be drawn. Ever since he has been on run and moving and living in outskirts of Soul Society in distant communities, living by as humble quiet living healer. Using disguises and false names to keep investigators off his back.

ShadowFox89

I don't think anyone with hemophobia would be let into Squad 11 :P

It's a squad of blood knights and berserkers. You've gotta be good at fighting to get in.

I actually think you might need to change the squad Zaer, as I have been the Captain of squad 11 longer than any other current Captain, and was the Lieutenant before that.

I also just have a personal problem with the idea that my previous Captain was murdered by anything less than several Bankai's, so I would prefer if it were just one of the Captain's that have not yet been selected by anyone.

Could have been Squad 6. But I still really don't buy an unseated shinigami killing two of the strongest shinigami in the entire Soul Society without having Protagonist Power.

Well, I did not write the lieutenant nor captain as 'strongest' in shinigami society. Anyone who is lieutenant and captain are strong by shinigami standards but not neccesary strongest of them all. Only clearly stronger from other squads lieutenants and captains is then commander captain and his lieutenant.

Only factor in background story was a strong spiritual presence (which can vary between captains and lieutenants) which allowed his sai's quickly build a charge which he could unleash on them accidentally. Also because he refused commune with his blade he did not learn how he killed them or how his shikai ability works (plainly said scared by his own power).

But I am fine if I am assigned to another squad where he got bullied and was tried to reform into more warrior alike. Just did not know Red Lobster was eldest captain and so my char story would not make sense. Overall I wanted some heavy impact in the accident where he used his shikai accidentally (killing squad mates would not be big deal at all while some recruit knocking both captain and lieutenant would raise quite a alarm).

It's not meant ridicule the raw power of captains and lieutenants, but simply said both of them got off guard by Kazuhiko's shikai and any skilled figther can be surprised off guard (and Kazuhiko nor anyone had idea about his shikai's ability and that how deadly it can be). It was more surprise what killed the captain+lieutenant than actual skill or power what Kazuhiko had. I applied several limitations to power and also outright silence field would also negate the sonic effects (but not the build up itself).

ShadowFox89

Zaer, look at it in DnD terms. Most unseated at level 1-5. Lieutenants are 6-10. Captains are usually 11-20. Maybe critically injuring one, but killing a captain with anything less than a bankai just should not happen. Bleach might have it's inconsistencies, but needing a bankai or similar to scratch a captain is not one of them.

So your saying captains are immune to poisoning, drugs, kido or any other form of offense? Remember that Aizen faked his own death which was a shocker but considering nobody said 'impossible' it means captains can be killed with normal steel if somehow dropped down their guard (I remember there was strong paranoia going on as all thinked same; someone whom Aizen trusted killed him with a sneak attack).

Also Renji who has achieved bankai (and also the bald guy from Kenpachi's squad) get hit, hurt and closely dying by stuff which aren't bankai related. Captains are not immortal nor invulrenable (expect Kenpachi comes close in being able just ignore injuries he receives). The shikai ability targeted both captains with transformed spiritual pressure attacks during a surprise stunned moment. The most deadly part of the shikai's ability is that it cannot be seen or detected by normal senses. More so when they do not know expect it nor likely seen such attack before (and attack was not launched by user's own spiritual pressure/essence but by recycled excess material so able sense change from Kazuhiko would not had warned them either).

So rupturing your lungs, heart and most everything in torso area should kill or paralyze even toughest captain and lieutenant. The sheer factor that his mere shikai killed two such strong shinigamis is actual reason why he sealed his zanpakutō so tightly and deafened himself on purpose from part of his own soul.

Or whole event can be written as one time dumb luck and considered that in future Kazuhiko could not do it never again (and he unlikely ever unseals his katana, whole point of the char is that he never unsheaths his katana and is unskilled in combat). But I left some space for development if circumstances pushes it to happen.

In DnD terms both lieutenant and captain rolled nat 1's.

You actually make a very good point here Zaer. This is actually one of the problems with Bleach in that the Captain's of the Soul Society Arc seemed like very different monsters compared to the Captains during Hueco Mundo.

How many characters can we have? I might end up making a rogue shinigami of my own... A seated officer who left the Soul Society because she felt the corruption and bureaucracy was too bloated.

Zaer Darkwail

I think there could be room for more rogue shinigami. As retirement for shinigami means they get into locked cells :P. Or when they desire leave the squad willingly (for whatever reason). Or when shinigami misbehaves a lot.

Kendre

First of all, to clarify the "can't kill captains" thing, that is based on the fact that Reishi (Spiritual Energy) surrounds and cloaks the Shinigami at all times. In stronger Shinigami, this Reishi becomes an almost-tangible barrier against attacks. Thus Zaraki Kenpachi literally stopping blades with his hands. Ichigo's bankai clothing is an ultimate form of that, for example. However, all shinigami possess this trait. If a Captain were to fight an unseated officer, he wouldn't need to draw his weapon. Simply releasing his Spiritual Pressure would drop an unseated officer to their knees, period. They're not invincible, this is true, but a weaker shinigami who is not trained for combat simply wouldn't be able to bear the combative presence of a Captain and a Lieutenant unleashed, such as in a bullying situation. Sneak attacks are also difficult due to Captains typically being able to detect reishi as an almost casual thing. Finally, your ability would be unbearably overpowered in the Soul Society, as Spiritual Energy is what EVERYTHING in Soul Society is made of. Walls, floors, water, earth, air, everything. As such, your weapon would be on par with a nuke within moments. A sound attack is an interesting and perfectly acceptable Shikai/Bankai thing, but the methodology would cause it to be destructive enough to destroy the entire Seireitei at a whim. That's Soul King level abilities, to be honest. Also, catching a captain off-guard, you could indeed slay him. If you release your Shikai for the first time, and it's a strong one, or you're simply lucky, it can happen. Cripes, simply firing an icicle attack at point blank range would be enough to kill a Captain, technically, if he wasn't prepared for it. However, a Captain and a Lieutenant would be nigh impossible with a single ability from an unseated officer. Also, a Shikai with one-hit-kill slaying abilities is a bit much. Perhaps it could have the ability to manipulate reishi in a healing-type fashion, effectively causing high-speed regeneration, but when used offensively can create spiritual necrosis (cellular death), causing them to fall ill and die. Just an idea!

As for "Kido Healing", it doesn't exist. "Healing" is not classified as a Kido, as it is actually a simple release of spiritual energy. Typically, a healer performs energy restoration first, restoring the victim's reishi stores, and then utilizes the energy within the injured person to heal them internally, as it is much easier.

Finally, you can certainly play a Rogue Shinigami in addition to a Captain/VC. Just don't make it so the two characters overlap all that much. For example, making a Rogue Shinigami who killed 200 people in Rukongai, and then your Captain captures and slays him, gaining glory, rewards, etc is baaaaaaad. :D Aside from that, enjoy! Post your app as normal!

ShadowFox89

How does the app look so far for Shinobu? I'll PM you some extra info (like gender). I figure Shinobu is a very new captain and hasn't had their bankai for long, hence how it is very dangerous to use.

Zaer Darkwail

Well, the idea of the 'spiritual pressure resonance' was that it reacts only to spiritual pressure of a living beings than from objects or structures. Also true the captains and basically everyone has passive layer of reishi to block attacks which would harm them (so even if Kenpachi would be sleeping and you tried whack him up with a maul, you could not crush his head and only wake him up pissed).

But the idea was that the attack which my char shikai uses ignored 'toughness' factor of the reishi as reishi blocks physical attacks and elemental stuff but not something which goes through solid objects without harming said objects. But I do like idea trade 'sonic' stuff for actual reishi manipulation, which helps greatly in healing (like I originally intended) but also same way it can be lethal weapon as it can cause degenration to muscles and nerves (do reverse healing and drain reishi). Perhaps it's not using my char own reishi at all but rather subject's own reishi (so captain nor lieutenant would not sense him using reishi but sense something is 'wrong' with their own reishi acting up).

But you say you dislike one shot kill wonders and so how we can create scenario where somehow a non-seat shinigami killed lieutenant and captain? Would it be simply combination of luck, surprise and oppoturne subtle moment for his shikai power hit two targets once when their guard was down?

Just asking ideas because I am not asking my char kicked ass of a PC controlled captain or have direct fight from lieutenant and captain, simply a accidental killing with his shikai power on two victims who could not expect attack coming.

ShadowFox89

Zaer, the idea of a non-seated shinigami killing a captain is just bad. Even Ichigo managed to fight off a low-level Menos Grande when he fought Kenpachi, and even then only managed to cut him.
Call me Shadow
My A/A

Zaer Darkwail

Yeah, but you think every captain is like Kenpachi? Kenpachi is freaking Chuck Norris compared to other captains. Also you must forget idea that my char fought the captain or lieutenant. There is difference between a direct confrontational force/attack compared to sneaky ambush attack (albeit accidental one).

Now question is why neither lieutenant nor captain saw attack coming? They were surprised and neither did expect attack from a weak nilly shrimp front of them. Not knowing he had ability in shikai which can kill them without figthing them (nor use any combat skill) or using kido or such. Perhaps they sensed what was going on but once they realized it, it was too late (as attack happened so sudden).

Anyways after the event (and some years hiding) he could be considered lieutenant level in his own field of strenghts but his weaknesses cut off any direct combat advantages what he may have. If it helps any in argument the both the captain and lieutenant could had been weakest captain and lieutenant among the other captain and lieutenant ranks (or 'weakest' meaning same as 'dumb').

BruceTheCat

How about just having killed a Captain Zaer? Realistically the moment you struck one the defenses of the other would go up. That's the primary unbelievable point for me, that you would manage to get both at the same time.
