So my brother purchased Pro Tools before he graduated and procrastinated on installing it before he graduated. We were unaware of Avid's student policies for activating the product by showing proof of CURRENT enrollment. Sending his transcript was apparently not good enough.

Does anyone have any methods on getting these folks to play ball with us?

Call and ask for a refund? I'm willing to bet they'll find a way to make it work for him if you explain the situation to customer service and demand a refund if they will not allow you to activate the product.

From looking at deals for students (I work as an IT Tech at a University) you usually have to provide proof of enrolment when you buy the software. Once you've purchased the licence then you own it; I'm not sure they can not allow you to install if you've legitimately purchased it in the first place. Do you have the software? Where/when is it asking you for proof?
