Many great RPers have tried and failed.

But there's such potential in this universe, it can't be ignored.

I'd really love to get a great Naruto-themed game off the ground, and I know there's a bunch of you that feel the same. I appreciate it's going to take a bit of effort, so I'm prepared for this to be a slow-burning interest check, because I don't want to just rush into creating a game without the proper playerbase and ideas behind it.

So hear me out, feel free to contribute, praise, and bash any ideas. I'm willing to listen to the majority on this one, as it's going to take a few minds to get this baby off the ground.

Original characters.

Parallel universe, but same villages and bloodlines.

Only using canon-established bloodlines...to begin with.

Everyone starts off in a village. For those of you wanting to be missing/wandering-nin, I have a plotline in mind, but I'd very much like the majority of us to begin in a hidden village. This is how Akatsuki/Taka started off, after all.

Want Jinchuuriki? This, and other things, I'm going to throw plot hiccups at you. For example, after the game gets going and all the characters are established, I may choose a player whom has had a tailed beast inside them, undiscovered, until now. We will see how that player, and their village, deals with that.

Advancement versus established positions? Still not sure whether to have everyone advancing from genin/chunin level (has to be 16+ for obvious reasons) or to allot ranks and roles such as Kage, med-nin, special jounin and so forth from the start. We should discuss this.

Know your role. I know some people have a thing for ANBU, and this is great-as long as they're willing to go with the character properly. This means if you're an ANBU, only about three people, including the village kage, will ever see you without your mask. Other positions should be thought about as in-depth.

No cheese! People being creative with their own jutsus or bloodlines that they've come up with is great, but it often leads to conflict as only one person ever really knows that bloodline truly (not to mention it's hardly a bloodline if only one person in the village has it). I'm not squashing this from the start, but it needs to be really thought about.

Awards. I'm fully prepared to "reward" (without being patronising) players with something they want after they put in a damn good show of roleplaying for a period of time. For example, if a player wants to be a wandering/missing-nin from the off, then provided he or she roleplays in the village well, then I'll create the appropriate village attention, media, title-giving, bingo-book details, etc. Likewise, if someone decides their character wants to become a Sennin, then provided they put in an applaudable roleplay effort, I'll give them that title, plus some custom powers depending on the writing skill/sociability of the player.

Creativity with your persona. I'm sure we all know the Naruto roleplay stereotypes, but I'd really like to encourage players to be unique and creative when drumming up their characters personality-and to see that personality reflect in the roleplay, including the flaws. I know that sounds like I'm hammering basics home, but I'm sure we've all been in roleplays where there's been an obvious Sasuke rip-off.

Like I say, I want feedback and discussion on all these things, let me know what you think. We can do this.......

....believe it.

I'm very much interested in this. I do agree the Naruto-verse is full of potential that can/could/should be used for a group rp.
I would agree with you with most of the things you pointed out, especially in the use -at first- of original character from canon-bloodlines/clans. It makes things more easy to handle, and there is a lot of resource easy to find, only for the Konoha clans.
I wonder if, instead of a parallel universe, the use of another timeline cannot be chosen? For example, this timeline can correspond to an era prior to Naruto's (like Knights Of The Old Republic did with Star Wars).
Anyhow, count me in !

blackstar

Please count me in!

This sounds like it was made just for me

:D

Just lemmie know whut I need to do!
"You don't understand anything, do you?! The most important thing isn't power, it isn't courage, it isn't even having friends! The only thing that matters is that you can rely on ME."

Ramael

Mains - I hear you with the older timeline. What did you have in mind? Is there any particular reason you'd rather have an older timeline-is it the old ninja wars you're keen on?

Call me ambitious, but ideally, in a perfect world, I'd like to get enough players to get this into its own sub-forum...henceforth we can have a playerbase for each village...and then those players will decide each factions politics, laws, decisions on world events, etc. That's why I initially thought a parallell universe, giving each player the potential for big things. But I'm open to ideas.

mainsnoires

I do admit the ninja great wars create a dramatic and epic background for the game, that I kind of like. In addition, it gives quite some liberty for the players to move around and meet ancestors of the current manga characters.
I realize however that, maybe some members will not be as interested in meeting such persons, or won't like being caught into a line of events pre-written..for example, if you chose to place the game 70 years ago it will correspond to Sarutobi, the third Hokage from Konoha, birth, and some events of the manga just have to happen...Sarutobi cannot disappear before he did all he had to do...

So choosing a different timeline could be tricky...except if old enough.

I didn't know you planned such sub-forums...This would be ideal, indeed !!
In that case, the use of a parallel universe makes sense, and epic ninja wars could anyway be plotted or constitute a threat in such an alternate reality.. that is if more players have the same attraction than me for this era.

Another word on the advancement thing, I like that idea even if it means quite some work for the GM or Mods, it will definitely give depth to the characters.

Let me know if you need resources about the clan/bloodlines, I'll gladly give you a hand.

Ramael

I could use a spot of research on Stone's bloodlines, although I'm not sure how many starting villages to have-that totally depends on the player interest registered here.

If we get a lot, we can begin using Leaf, Sand, Mist, Cloud, Stone, but if we only get a few, maybe just three of them, and if we only get a tiny dribble, then we may all have to start off in the same village...but the planned advancements mean that maybe some players (given time and good RP) could leave and start their OWN village. Or criminal cartel, depending on their tastes :D

In fact, this may even be something I could consider, as all starting off in the same village (if we even create an entire village structure from our starting playerbase) means there is valid interaction from the off, and I can GM in any other village events/NPCs as necessary if they affect the player village.

Glad you agree on the advancements, Main. Depth is what I'm all about!

Ala Rai Sen

You have piqued my curiosity. I do have a question though, would this use the naruto d20 rules, or would it be freeform?

Ramael

Freeform.

I used to play with a system, but it bogged down the flow a lot, and flow is important to a Naruto universe, especially one where I am proposing a system of advancement in. I want freeform for this, so I'm trusting all the players to be good freeform-ers. I don't mind adding a BIT of system into it at points (as in, for example, two players can't resolve a fight, we can use dice rolls and my own GM genjutsu benevolence to resolve it) but this will definately be run mainly freeform.

Ala Rai Sen

Ah, my experience had been the opposite. Oh well, your game your rules. I wish you luck.

mainsnoires

Well, I believe the interest of freeform rp lies in storytelling over rules and dicing, I do prefer freeform as well and believe a reasonable interaction between players when it comes to battling and resolving actions is possible, ie no god-moding. The job of the GM and/or Mods would be to make sure no god-moding happens. In my experience, I had the greatest rps under this freeform style.

Starting with an existing village if the number of player is limited is a good idea, as long as you can handle the rest of the villages and so a lot of NPCs.
Creating his own village may be difficult as it will mean creating also clans with specific abilities, that the player can choose from. Using Konoha is the easiest way in my opinion. Of course, creating a village/cartel as antagonist is possible, such a place could then be used later, when there will be more players around, to make other type of PC.
This is just a suggestion.

kitakaze

I'm also interested in this idea. My vote would be for either an AU style or maybe even go for a coinciding story to the manga. After all, there are lots of other shinobi and citizens of every village whom are never shown or discussed in detail, so that might work too.
My O/O's and A/A's
I have taken the Oath of Drake

You're screaming

Ramael

I think you might be right about Konoha, Mains, as much as I'd like to have avoided the cliche.

Kita, you're right about the unexplored Naruto-verse, but at the rate the manga's coming out, the other lands/villages are being dipped into quite frequently, to make our RP legit we'd have to be cross-referencing all the time to make sure our information matches up in order to stay genuine.

I think the AU is going to be the best way so far.

Unless I come up with a jolting brainstorm for a completely original Hidden Village created entirely from my own mind, I think we will be going with an alternative Konoha, and you guys will make up the ninjas of that village. If we get lots more players, I can set them up in a different village with the same structure, and thus a huge sprawling RP with many people will be born :D

Once the RP gets rolling, any new players will start off as chunin default, like you guys are having to do. This way, time spent in the RP reflects rank IC, and also embellishes on the advancement system. As GM and as the game gets rolling, I'll probably play a couple of characters to fill out the ranks/play the bad guys, and these NPCs of mine can be replaced/killed off as more players join us.

Any other thoughts?

Ramael

Whilst I'm waiting for your opinion gems on my last post...and I trust you're all still interested...here's some info on our Konoha and a basic CS sheet you can fill out for now.

Konohagakure No Sato

Current Hokage: Nawaki Wasaji, aka"The Green Shadow".
A distant and impersonal Hokage, he keeps himself to himself and is rarely seen about the village. All that is known about him is his mysterious jutsu, the "green shadow" that earnt him his nickname and kept Konoha untouchable during the Great Ninja War. Although cold and aloof, he isn't a bad Hokage, and his special jounin aides speak highly of him.

Notable history: The village, thanks in part to Wasaji and in part to its famous clans, performed admirably during both the Samurai wars and the Great Ninja War that succeeded it. Always having been a rich village, Konoha has always enjoyed a comfort often envied by other villages.

Current status: Konoha has been recruiting and retraining over the past couple of years since the end of the Great Ninja War. During this time, it takes on only a handful of A and B-class missions a year, and those always without any major risk to any other land or village. Konoha and Wasaji seem to be focused on its wave of keen young recruits that are the future. One notable little-known thing is, however, that Wasaji and his aides are considering taking action on the crisis in the Mist Village, which has seen a recent uprising and has plummeted into vicious civil war. Like most other villages, Konoha has stayed out of Mist's own business, but is now being urged to take action by various Daimyos and commitees after weeks of violence around Mist lands.

You'll see a tiny bit of history there. The Samurai Wars were initiated when an alliance of supposedly renegade Samurai refused to acknowledge shinobi in the world, and began leading "justified attacks" to stomp them out. Shinobi from various villages retaliated, and thus began the Samurai Wars, ending with the deaths of thousands of samurai, surrender of thousands more, and the exile of hundreds of others. Some claim that fugitive samurai still exist and pose a threat to existing shinobi hidden villages. Others laugh that claim off completely.

Your grandparents might have fought or died in the Samurai Wars. It's fairly old history.

The Great Ninja War began when a power vaccuum, caused by the displacement of the once-powerful samurai, initiated newly formed ninja villages to start jockeying for power. One thing led to another, and soon five of the most powerful villages were at each others throats. This war ended in a cautious stalemate, nearly ten years ago. The peace that exists between the villages is getting stronger.

Your parents or elder siblings may have fought or died in the Great Ninja War. It's more recent history.

Whilst not an outright victor (no village truly won the War) Konoha didn't do too badly out of it, of course suffering losses like all the villages did.

Now for the CS;

Name (Something Japanese-sounding, at least):

Appearance:

Main strength:(Does your character specialise in Genjutsu, elemental attacks, have blistering Taijutsu, rely on his/her bloodline, etc. Bear in mind you will be starting off as chunin, so you won't be overly powerful at all. This is, rather, an area that your character is definately showing promise in. Of course, your character could be a multi-tasker and not strong in anything, in order to remain averagely skilled in lots of areas.)

Bloodline/Clan:(IF applicable. Konoha's main bloodlines, if you don't know them, are Uchiha, Hyuuga,Aburame, Akimichi,Inuzuka, Kurama, Nara,Yamanaka. If your character does not have a bloodline or belong to a famous clan, they will probably be more talented in some other area, and in any GM decisions, I will reflect this.)

Biog:(What made your character decide life as a ninja serving Konoha was for them? And any notable experiences in the village Academy, etc. No cheesey "X's father was killed and X is training for refenj lolz!" plz.)

Personality:(Some brief notes summing up your characters traits. The quirkier, the better!)

Strengths and flaws:(Note the latter, please! Everyone has weaknesses or bad traits, your characters should reflect this.)

mainsnoires

I am still highly interested, and will be working on a CS as soon as possible, I will probably be able to send something complete by the end of the week.
I admit using Konoha as a base for this rp is cliché, however it's the best way in my opinion to start the game. A lot of position for this Alternate Konoha will have to be filled, from the hokage (that you've created already) to the teachers, the ANBU leaders, the Clan leaders etc...
For now, I guess making PC is the priority and I believe that with time NPC occupying the positions stated above could be created. That goes for the antagonists too (some alternate Orochimaru ?)
Also I wonder about the Sannin ? Will you make alternate ones ? more than three or less ? or just not use them ?
There is also the question of the tailed beasts and the existence or not of jinchurikis.
Finally, I am really believing advancement is going to be a good thing, it sets this rp as a long term one (which is fine with me) and from mission to mission will really give interesting stories for our characters.

I'd like to join, if you're still accepting. Here's the gist of my idea for a character. If it's on the right path then I'll start fluffing out her appearance, bio and personality a little more.

Name: Uchiha Kaya

Appearance:

Main strength: Sharingan

Bloodline/Clan: Uchiha

Bio:
Despite being born to the famed Uchiha, a noble clan of Konohagakure, Kaya was surprisingly unassuming while growing up. She rarely drew the same attention other members of her clan did and, when opportunity to step into the light showed itself, she often preferred to slink quietly back into the darkness. As the only child of two nin, both of which believed in giving their all for the village and clan, it was inevitable that the young sharingan user would find her way into the academy. And with a genjutsu expert for a father, Uchiha Keisuke, and a taijutsu artist for a mother, Uchiha Kai, it wasn't long before she was taught the skills necessary to excel in her classes. It wasn't a road she chose but one she enjoyed. She was always eager to go to class - even if she didn't participate much by asking questions or volunteering - and was quick to show off her grades, although mostly only to her parents.

At home, she led a fairly uncomplicated life, with plenty of chores and the usual joys and trials a family might face. As a nin, she remained in the background during missions, always choosing to let someone else take the lead or save the day. It might have been considered cowardly by some but it helped her get by and such insults were soon brushed aside by her passing of the chuunin exam. To this day there persists a rumour which claims that she only managed thanks to the sharingan but few have been able to back-up such sayings, especially seeing as almost nobody has seen Kaya activate her sharingan.

As for life changing events... The only real tragedy Kaya ever faced was having to witness the death of an older nin while out on a peaceful walk in the woods. She unwittingly put herself in danger by letting off a terrified scream but was lucky enough to have alerted nearby Konoha-nin to the threat. Kaya helped stopped an infiltration into the village that day. The incident occurred before the academy and was both traumatic but helpful in the end, enabling the young Uchiha to steel herself for the many more deaths she'd come to see in her lifetime. It still didn't help for her first actual kill however, an act which left her hands feeling bloodied, even after she'd washed them over and over and over and over.

Personality:
Kaya is mostly just out there to have fun, make friends and grow to become an accomplished nin. She enjoys socialising, pushing others into awkward spots and finding trouble, only to disappear by the time people start pointing fingers. It's a happy-go-lucky attitude which contrasts greatly with her mannerisms as most who meet Kaya for the first time perceive her as deadpan and a joykill. She can also be fairly confident and arrogant but will always stop short of accepting a task with too much responsibility, or pressure, such as being the leader of a team. Even if not the leader however, she's proven herself to be a valuable member of any team, with a knack for getting the job done.

Another small quirk Kaya has is the way in which she approaches missions. She practically dons a new skin when attiring herself for a task. And in a way, it acts as her safety net. The outfit she wears on missions today is actually the one she wore when she made her first kill, modified and fixed for her through the changes of age and battle. She puts it on to face the horrors of each mission and then slips it off at the end as if shedding away any unpleasant memories or scars.

Strengths and flaws:
Kaya's strengths lie with the sharingan, genjutsu and an effective, if somewhat lazy, taijutsu style. She's a highly defensive nin which excels in support - utilising her healthy reserves of chakra and a quick flinging arm - but struggles when placed in the more direct roles of a team. She also has an affinity for fire-based jutsu, like most of her clan, but prefers her own subtle strikes over literally "burning up" chakra in a showy blaze. Minus her abilities with flame and a few academy basics, Kaya unfortunately has a very limited pool of ninjutsu to call upon. This leaves her with very few options for dealing damage in a fight, especially when coupled with the fact that her taijutsu style rarely makes use of any direct forms of attack. She mostly relies on using her opponent's strength and/or speed for quick counters or throws but such attacks are rendered useless against taijutsu experts or heavier foes. Lastly, she also suffers from a lack of stamina, meaning she normally has to deal with any opponents quickly or face the consequences of an exhaustive battle. She simply can't run, jump and slide around at the pace her fellow-nin do without tiring herself out.

Mentally, the Uchiha seems relatively stable at a glance but with a tendency to shy away from responsibility. This doesn't mean she won't fulfil her duties or play her part in a team, just that she won't go beyond the call or increase her responsibility voluntarily. She simply reels at the thought of placing another's life in danger by the possible decisions she might make and so prefers to follow orders, to the LETTER. Sometimes, she can be loyal to a fault, by not questioning the commands given to her by those currently in charge. The only time she might hesitate when executing an order is if she feels she might be putting herself in far too great a danger. There would have to be an astounding reason to convince Kaya to take on whatever she deems as suicide.

The original concept interested me greatly and after reading all the posts and discussions I became even more interested by it. I have a few thoughts, but they are raw and still need to even be worked on by me, so before I suggest them here I will think on them. I think the RP is in the right direction and so long as those that are interested don't leave this RP has a real chance of making it. So if you are still looking I am in the process of making a character. I should have it posted by sometime tomorrow, right now I am thinking of making the head of the Hyuuga clans child, so the next head.

SomeGuy

I would be interested, but as a fair warning this would be my first freeform.

I'd be interested in a bloodline based character, though the bloodlines I find interesting are all on the higher end of the power scale and not native of Konoha. Then again, the Sharingan and the Kurama clan bloodline are both pretty high up there too.

Okay, this is my attempt to create a character from the Nara Clan for this group.
Please let me know if I should amend this CS or if everything's ok.

---

Name : Nara Kyosuke

Appearance:

Main strength:

Kyosuke's main ability lies in the manipulation of the shadows, a secret techniques mastered only by the Nara Family.

Jutsu signatures:

- Kagemane no Jutsu (Ninjutsu)
Shadow Imitation Technique uses chakra to stretch and expand the user's shadow. If an opponent's shadow comes in contact with it, then the person is immobilized and forced to mimic the movements of the user.

- Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu (Ninjutsu)
Shadow Neck Bind is a follow-up to the Kagemane where the user extends a hand-shaped shadow up to the victim's neck and chokes him to death.

- Kage Nui (Ninjutsu)
Shadow Sewing is a technique where multipe shadow tendrils can be created. The tendrils are very versatile and can be used for stabbing opponents, binding them, manipulating objects and even throwing weapons.

- Strategical Genius (Special)
Like all members of the Nara Clan, Kyosuke has an IQ fairly above average. If the situation arises, he forms a special hand position and enters into concentration mode.  He is able to generate and evaluate hundreds of possible strategies in mere moments and can pick out the one with the highest probability of success.

Beside the basic techniques learned inside the Konoha academy (E-Rank jutsu students are expected to know like Bunshin no Jutsu : clone technique, Kawarimi no Jutsu : body replacement technique, Henge no Jutsu : transformation technique) Kyosuke does not master yet any other jutsus or elemental attack.
He does not know any Genjutsu techniques, even if he has basic knowledge of the different techniques existing, and how to snap out of them. He has classic capacities for hand to hand combat, but no knowledge of Taijutsu movements.

Bloodline/Clan:

Member of the Nara Clan, only son of the family header, Nara Hiroshi.

This clan from Konoha Village is known for its ability to manipulate their shadow. With this ability the clan member can attach their shadow to the shadow of another individual, and then take control of the user, resulting in the affected person replicating or "shadowing" the exact movements in mirror form of the clan member. The Nara clan have worked along side the Akimichi and Yamanaka clans for many generations. With each new generation, the clan member swears an oath to defend the honor of the previous generation and also raise a new generation to look after the village.

Biog:

The Nara's Clan members had taken an important part in the Great Ninja Wars that had happened about 10 years ago.
The value brought by this Family, beside the use of their secret technique, was their faculty to create military strategies in battle. Kyosuke's father (Hiroshi) and uncle (Shoha) participated in this war and had contributed to a great extent to the survival of the Hidden Leaf Village, Konoha.
In order to train ninjas as great as these elders, it seemed natural to the eyes of the Hokage and of his advisors, that Kyosuke was asked to enter the academy. If the promise to defend the honor of the Nara's family is important, if not vital, in Kyosuke's eyes, his lack of motivation has been evident inside the academy, until he passed the Chuunin exam.
He maintained a correct level, without making extreme efforts, which had upset some of his teachers and succeeded in a number of D-class missions before being presented for the first time for the Chuunin exam.
Despite the encouragements of his family, Kyosuke didn't prepare himself fully for the challenge represented by this exam, and was, like other students, assigned to be a member of a group for the duration of the second stage of this exam. The first stage, written task, was passed without problems, and it is during the field stage that Kyosuke's personality, hiding beneath his apparent laziness, had to surface.

His teammates were badly injured during this stage, almost resulted in their failure for the exam. Kyosuke felt responsible for their wounds (he felt he didn't prepare enough). It is then that his strategic abilities helped them going through the second stage of this exam. Ever since, Kyosuke made the vow to never let any member of a group he'd be part of, to be severely injured -or die, making his best so that their mission would be flawless.

Personality:

Kyosuke is extremely lazy and hard to motivate, he enjoys peace and quiet. Especially sleep, his favourite passtime, the second being to observe forms created by clouds up in the sky, and the third playing strategic games. He is a fairly simple person, easy going, who doesn't ask for much or care for much. He dislikes tasks he finds pointless and meaningless, he finds them dead end, without goal. But when Kyosuke must act, he will do so decisively and in the aid of those he cares about.
He finds most women are troublesome, and feels that men like him should be the ones protecting them and not the other way around.

Strengths and flaws
:

Kyosuke's strong points lie within the use of his shadow technique, but this technique can be limited by environmental conditions.
He is also clever in battle, and can be a good asset when setting up military strategies. Even if he is friendly, his personality can confuse people who don't know him in depth, his continuous remark of how troublesome a task may be, how he is annoyed by the bossy attitude of certain persons, could upset his entourage.

He has not learned yet the techniques to create medical potions, another specialty of the Nara Clan, especially his uncle, Shoha, but is definitely interested in doing so.
Finally, he is not really gifted in Taijustus, or hand to hand combat. In addition the use of his shadow technique implies he should always stay at a reasonable range from his opponent.

Another of Kyosuke's flaw is the fact that he vowed to prevent the ones he care about to be hurt or injured, even if it implies he has to make a self-sacrifice or take a hard decision.

Yorubi

Hmm saw this but been shying away from it due to RPs I am involved with and what not. Not quite sure if I would join though. I'm a sucker for creating my own blood lines or unique powers so it might make my little desire to do so difficult. Either way I'll keep peeking on this. Not sure if I will join but I do enjoy the naruto universe... I just prefer AU Rps and like to shy away from the naruto story line since it has been a bit lack luster to me. :\

This is great stuff guys -  I'm glad this is starting to take off!

Mains
- Sannin and jinchuuriki will be present in this RP, but don't worry about it yet. The possibility for any player character to become a Sannin, special Jounin, or even Kage is very possible after a certain amount of RP. Until then, NPC Kages and Sannin may pop up into RP, played by myself, until they either leave, quit, become crippled, or maybe even killed  >:) making space for someone to succeed them.

Scribbles and Mains - Great profiles! Thanks for putting in some effort with them. I see we have some good support/anchor team members! One thing, you've embellished on your characters physical strengths and weaknesses, which is ace, I was wondering also about their personality weaknesses? I might not have made that clear enough in my CS template.

Someguy -  We'd love to have you aboard, and yes as you can see from the first post onwards, we're focusing on an alternate Konoha using traditional bloodlines.

Yorubi - We'd love to have you aboard too! Not sure what you're saying, you have little desire to create your own bloodline but you're a sucker for doing so? :? Well, if you can stand either creating a ninja without a bloodline, or using one of Konoha's bloodlines, we'd love to have you on-board too.

This is stirring up great....from the looks of it we have more than enough players to create two ninja teams straight off the bat :D

P.S CrazyIvan - thank you very much for your support! I am exerting a certain amount of brainpower on this and will continue to do so. Look forward to seeing your character.

P.P.S Wouldn't mind seeing someone have the stones to roll up a sensor-type ninja...tough character to play in combat, I know, but I promise good things if someone does.

Kaisude

I'm aboard, but I am off to go do something fun, so I will have a character later. What is your take on having the population have more of one clan? I two wish to play an Uchiha, but I don't mind having to play another clan. Plenty of other good ones.

Yorubi

Oh bleh maybe I was groggy typing earlier. I meant I like making up my own bloodlines usually. Maybe its just my reluctance on having to focus on using ninja arts or simply my desire to be unique. I usually make up my own kind of character and try to give them powers that are different from the norm. ^^;;

Scribbles

Thanks Ramael, I've just thrown in her appearance so I'll start writing up a more in-depth bio and personality now.

Hi Kai! it wasn't my intent ever to limit one clan-member, would like diversity, but seems we have plenty of players so I'm sure there'll be a good spread between other clans and non-clanners, so go ahead and create an Uchiha if you want. I'd encourage thinking outside the box to make him stand out :D

Yorubi - glad you mentioned differing from the norm. Thing is in my experience, people making their own (usually never-ending, unbeatable, works-in-every-situation) bloodline IS the norm. Also it can be a pain in the neck for other players. What I consider to be outside the norm is making a completely unique personality. Also, with the wealth of thousands of different canon jutsus that exist, plus different types of taijutsu and genjutsu, not forgetting the basic ninja equipment and low-level jutsu, there's so much room for variation and unique characters. What's the saying from Naruto? "A good ninja using a stone can beat an average ninja using a shuriken" or similar. My understanding from that in this situation is that using the tools to hand maybe in a way that no one else does will make a more interesting and maybe more skilled ninja. Also don't forget that in RP, people's characteristics and attitude define them, and a distinct personality will serve better to define a person than a fancy inherited genetic flaw. Also, earning respect in-character through actions and teamwork is better than just pressing the "bloodline" button.

ALSO, I'm not really one for "ninja magic". All the fancy flashing lights and glowing magic balls in Naruto are cool, but the ninjas that impress me most from the series are the improvisers. Shikamaru/Kakashi V Hidan/Kakuzu is my all-time favourite fight from the series. Shikamaru, massively underpowered against the immortal, outwitted and used his limited abilities and basic ninja equipment to the best of his capabilities. I realise he was using his bloodline! This is more of a general point.

Either way, I hope you decide creating your own bloodline isn't the only thing that can ever define a Naruto OC, and hope you roll up with us :D
