Ok, so I'm looking to start up a game centered around a pirate ship, it's crew, their captives, and their misadventures/raids/sexy times/etc. That they experience. Ideally this game will be full of action, fighting, drinking, and sex (both consensual and non-consensual).

Should enough interest be shown I'd be open to having more than one pirate ship/crew take place in the story but I'll probably need the help of a co-gm if that happens. That having been said I'm looking to capture a mix of realism, popular conception, and some (small) amounts of fantasy with this setting. Basically think along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean being rated more along the lines of R/X/NC-17 with slightly lest fantastical elements. If this idea interests you I invite you to say so. In order to get started I'll probably need the following as far as players. Also, I'll be allowing female pirates and we can assume that while not as common as male ones, they are still not exceedingly rare in our setting.

Captain(Urbanzorro):The man/woman in charge of the crew.

1st Mate(Kokaine): The second in command of the crew. Has command of the ship when the Captain is not aboard, and is normally charged with leading other members of the crew. This one needs to be filled

Master At Arms(Master At Arms):The crew-member in charge of instilling discipline and order aboard ship. I'll need someone to fill this role as well.

Quarter Master(Flaming, Pending Completion): The crewman/woman charged with steering the ship during most situations.

Boatswain(Open): The deck chief charged with making sure all the deck hands do their jobs correctly.

Assorted Crew Member/Officers(TheRaven): Doctors, gunners, etc.

Assorted Crew Member/Officers(Open): Doctors, gunners, etc.

Captive of the Crew(Open): Someone taken by the crew during a raid or about to be taken during the game's opening. We'll need at least one of these but hopefully more.

Captive of the Crew(Open): Someone taken by the crew during a raid or about to be taken during the game's opening. We'll need at least one of these but hopefully more.

Captive of the Crew(Open): Someone taken by the crew during a raid or about to be taken during the game's opening. We'll need at least one of these but hopefully more.

And here is our character sheet.

Image Please provide an image for your character
Name What's their name?
Gender Female? Male?
Age How old are they?
Position What part of the crew are they? Are they a captive? If so are they already caught or do they yet need to be?
Personality What's their personality like?
Biography What's their personal history?
Weapons/Equipment Is there anything specific they have/use?
Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes What does your character like/dislike sexually? Not to be confused with your actual ons/offs. For instance your character probably won't like NC sex but you may like NC scenes ;)
Player's Offs: Given that this game has the potential for certain characters to be very much at the mercy of other characters are there any limits you feel need to be stated up front so there is no confusion?

At this point all the slots other than captain are open and I don't feel that any of them need to be gender specific :-)

Bloody pirates... why's the rum always gone?

I'm in of course. I'll be playing a female but I'll wait a bit with the roles. I wouldn't mind playing a captive but seeing how they tend to get too plentiful in games like these, I won't mind playing something else. Therefore I leave it open.

Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals and I get my back into my living.

I don't need to fight to prove I'm right and I don't need to be forgiven.

Hmm, I am in a pirate game now that seems to have died, still interested in being a part of one.  I was playing a passenger, having paid to boarding while observing the life to write about it.  Would something like that work here?

Decided to give 1st mate a try (worse case she gets bumped back down). Its still a bit of a work in progress but yeah...

Name: Lady Charlotte DuPont - "The Black Tigress" (sometimes called Charlie by those she likes)

Gender: Female

Age: 26

Position: 1st Mate

Appearance: Charlotte stands 5'8", with a curvy and athletic build that is strong enough to withstand her current lifestyle. Most often she dresses like a man unless there is a specific reason for her not to (like playing a role). However, her curves are usually still visible to some degree leaving no doubt that she is indeed female. She is not one to fuss over clothes and how lady-like she might look but her hair is probably her most prized feature and she takes quite good care of it despite being at sea.

Personality: With Charlotte what you see is not exactly what you get, though usually that is her intention. She excels at getting others to see what she wishes them to see and obscuring what she does not wish to be known. She is not above lying, cheating, or stealing to get ahead and is good at telling people what they want to hear.

Despite her privileged upbringing Charlotte is not afraid of hard work. She enjoys getting dirty and will always do her best to be number one. She is fiercely competitive and never gives up, even if it requires her to demonstrate great patience and endure much suffering. She is shrewd, intelligent, flexible, resilient, adventurous, and thinks well on her feet. Once her respect is earned, she is both loyal and trustworthy. She can be very mischievous and playful and is often mistaken for someone younger due to her youthful, laid back, devil may care attitude, but make no mistake--Charlotte's years at sea and learning to survive by her boot straps have made her as tough as any hardened pirate and those that get on her bad side are made well aware. She is often described as possessing rather dashing qualities by man and woman alike.

It should be noted that Charlotte is not a fan of taking prisoners so if one finds themselves at her mercy it is best to prove yourself useful.

Biography: Born to two high born Nobles, Charlotte quickly grew weary of the restrictions placed on her. Her brother, with whom she was very close, was allowed to run free and do as he wished as long as it brought no shame to their family but even the most ordinary things were often forbidden to her thanks to her father's over-protective nature. She craved freedom and adventure more than anything and the thought of being married off to suit her parents' needs was sickening to her. Still, she was smart enough to learn to play the part decently well, only sneaking out at night to pester their groundskeeper to no end. It was he who taught her how to properly care for and wield a sword as well as defend herself and it was he who filled her impressionable young mind with tales from his days at sea.

Finally when Charlotte was 14 she could take no more. Her father promising her to a spoiled and most unpleasant Duke was the last straw. Stealing some of her brother's clothes and some food, Charlotte disguised herself and ran away. At first she could get no father than the next town over, which was tricky since her father had sent out his men to search for her almost right away. She was very nearly caught a handful of times and indeed when her brother did manage to catch her she thought she was done for... only, he hid her away until the search party rode on and then released her promising that they'd see each other again. He handed her his weapons--the ones gifted to him by their father--and a small bit of coinage to help her. Lastly, he handed her a map and a note from their groundskeeper then left her.

Following the directions in the note, Charlotte found her way to the sea and instantly fell in love. Her first voyage was as a stowaway upon a smaller vessel and when she was inevitably discovered she was immediately put to work as the crew simply thought her to be an eager young boy by the name of Charlie. She would spend 3 years aboard that ship being mostly mistreated, over-worked, and underfed but she loved every minute of it. Every time they got into a scrape she was right there to join in the madness despite being shoved away or told to hide. Unfortunately, that crew was not the most successful and would eventually be picked apart by sickness and incompetence. When finally only Charlotte and a few others remained alive aboard their ship a desperate act would lead her to her first meeting with the Captain.

Weapons/Equipment: Carries two multi-barrel pistols (given to her by her brother), a cutlass (stolen off a dead Naval Officer), and a dagger in her boot (also her brother's). Sometimes carries a bullwhip.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes: Bisexual - likes both being in charge and having control taken from her, though this is not something one should attempt lightly as she'll quickly put you in your place if you've not got the stones. She also likes big, strapping men, shy women, creative lovers, rough sex, spontaneity, and touches that remind her she is indeed a woman. She dislikes being treated like a common whore, selfish lovers, being drooled over, being treated like she's fragile, and rope burns.

Player's Offs: See my O/O's ... some things may be negotiated for plot but most of them are hard limits.

Image See left.

Name: Boniface Borgia

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Position: Rigger, ship's bard in the evening

Personality: Boniface is quite pleasant for a pirate. He tends to give off the impression that he's a lithe sort of person (which is fair, considering that he's packing quite enough muscle to handle the rigging and fight on his 6'1" frame) without the physical bulk that others aboard the ship seem to have acquired, whether a more attractive bulk from work, or a gut acquired from a little too much rum in port. He's somewhat of a coward when it comes to a real fight and prefers to use distractions, dirty fighting, and whatever other advantages he can muster. Boniface drinks hard, his preferred liquor being rum. That said, he's not particularly picky and will drink almost anything so long as it has a bit of a kick to it. He mostly just enjoys the rigging duties because it means he gets to climb up higher on the ship, and hasn't strayed from that position for that reason. His dry sense of humor, when directed at his fellow crew members, sometimes forces him to climb the rigging rather quickly to escape if the joke's taken poorly.

Biography: Boniface is one of the more recent additions to the infamous Borgia family by an unimportant Italian bastard, destined for unimportant bastardom himself. Boniface sought out his fortunes beyond the shores of Italy when he was 17 by stowing away aboard the vessel of a merchant ship leaving Venice bound for the Iberian Peninsula. From there, he hitched a ride to the Caribbean, where he could successfully hide from his family's legacy. While he was indeed discovered on the crossing, the smugglers aboard were more than happy to share a cut with him when they learned that he could play the violin, and would be able to help reduce the stress of long voyages in the evenings while working in the rigging during the day. Considering that it got him away from the city-states gradually sinking into the mire of corruption (and instead seeking corruption and adventure rather than just corruption), Boniface was more than happy to lend his talents.

He bid goodbye to the sailors after their arrival in the Caribbean and stepped off the boat into the nominally French port of Tortuga. He made a decent wage there as a young man, wooing tavern wenches with his music and his good looks. While he occasionally had to visit an apothecary for a little... troubleshooting, Boniface largely eked out a fair wage in the port with his violin. Admittedly, the tales that the pirates brought back with them from their voyages were sorely tempting him. After all, he had survived the crossing voyage, hadn't he? He signed up with the captain's crew at the tender age of 19 and hasn't looked back.

Weapons/Equipment: A wide-bladed cutlass and a pair of long-barreled pistols. When repelling boarding actions, it's not uncommon to see him pick up a blunderbuss, however. Keeps a bronze knife, since it doesn't corrode, handy for rigging duties and preparing fish tucked away on his thigh. Has a violin that he keeps locked up in his footlocker except in the evenings when he plays.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Straight - he likes his woman with some bite to them. He enjoys the hunt as much as he does the figurative kill, and frequently employs his musical skills to help him in that regard. He prefers to remain in control, but is willing to fight for it like any proper pirate. Boniface also enjoys putting some of his rigging skills to work if that's what pleases a lady.

Player's Offs: Bathroom play

Name Fincher
Gender Male
Age 37
Position Quarter Master

Personality: Fincher is a pirate, what else needs to be said? He is a ma full of passions, likes to do what he wants and the fewer the people that can boss him around the better. He lives in the now and here, and doesn't give a fuck about anything else. He is not a long term planner and a life at sea, grabbing whatever he could, is the perfect expression of who he is, and he also gets to maneuver a ship!
That is probably the best part of it: shouting and cursing against people while at the helm. He has a knack for it: feeling how wind, waves, sail and hull interact, instead of understanding why. He could set the ship to sail smoothly and safely conducting it even in dangerous uncharted waters. He would spend his day at the helm, constantly harassing crew members for a better set of the rigging, while waiting to hit port and unleash himself to well deserved excesses.
His ability at the helm has sprout the rumor he could sail a ship across a rock, this is clearly an exaggeration, but who is he to spoil a legend?

Biography: The now pirate had always trouble getting along with authority and his destitution origin didn't help him growing a law abiding citizen. Having been in trouble with justice since early age he found himself facing a forced embarkment as a crewmen, the other option being jail. He fell in love with the sail, but the discipline was still too much for him, so he jumped ship at the first occasion but stayed a sailor ever since. If he is in a good mood, that is quite often, like any sailor who deserves the name, he would start telling one of the innumerable anecdotes he collected in his long years at sea.

Weapons/Equipment: Fincher is not the kind of man that gets sentimental over stuff, he has the usual pirate equipment, three pistols and a cutlass, but to be true he is never in the first wave of a barding.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes: He is not a sophisticated man, he would stick his cock in whatever hole is given to him, and would take a few that aren't just 'cause he can. For him is not a matter of quality but quantity and excess.

Player's Offs: Can't think of anything right now.

Chreestafer

Definitely interested in this :) possibly as a another pirate that is a prisoner or something ill mull it over and post a character tonight :)

Warlord Zanyl

Name: Shoutin' KeelHaul "Slaughter"

Gender: Male

Age: 31

Position: Master At Arms

Personality: A glimpse is all it takes and many could already tell that KeelHaul is a pirate best not be reckoned with. He enjoys doing what needs to be done and rarely does he demand for clarification or rewards to do them. In fact, he's even willing to convince the rest to do the same. Renowned across the seven seas for his insatiable lust for blood and sadistic ways when interrogating with the captives, the mention of his name alone sends shivers down the spine of even the most sturdiest of men. Standing at six feet two, his intimidating physique is also the result of his disciplined nature.
KeelHaul is an observant, competitive, brave and a confident pirate but he's also arrogant and bold. Despite of the rumors where some of the crews may think he's likely to stab their back during a crisis, those that'd known him would have no doubt on their safety around the "Master at Arms". Chances are, with the "I'll save you now so I can kill you later" attitude, they might just live a day longer to see the end of his whip.

Biography: Son to a General of the Naval fleet, KeelHaul have had the luxury of being on countless of voyages across the seas at a very young age. For a General as a father, he was brought up under harsh disciplinary routine and had inherited the man's arrogance along with his authoritative demeanor where his father's men was also the brat's own. Despite so, the soldiers were not shy with imparting their knowledge on swordsmanship with the boy. Perhaps they'd noticed something within him that burns when he either wield a weapon or held up his fists.

One night, an unfortunate event occurred. Their vessel was boarded by pirates and all hell broke loose. Each men was fighting for themselves. KeelHaul's rage on board the ship had caught the pirates' attention, especially their Captain. They observed how he'd managed to take down a couple of men twice his height as they slowly surrounded him with the boy's father as hostage. Right in front of his eyes, KeelHaul then witnessed how powerless and pathetic the General truly was. On top of that, he was deeply wounded when the man got down on his knees and pleaded for his life. When the Captain laid down his terms, KeelHaul's father immediately agrees without the slightest of hesitation. The General and his men were then spared... in exchange for the son.

Angered and hurt, KeelHaul followed the pirates and grew up to be the man he was today under the late Captain's charge. He'd picked up many valuable assets of life along the way as well as a few more skills under his belt. It wasn't until half a decade ago that he'd finally found a new pirate flag to follow and dedicate his services to it's Captain. What'd happened to the previous crew? Rumor has it that it was KeelHaul himself who'd slaughtered them. They believed it was his way of ensuring that history would not repeat itself. What about the horrifying shout then? They'd then added that it was the man's way for diminishing his sense of guilt. So was it all bygones with what his father have done to him? Or was he involved in the General's assassination that'd happened about a decade ago? Was the General's whereabouts obtained through the countless of interrogation? Most would likely believe so..

Weapons/Equipment: KeelHaul carries a whip by his side and two boarding axes crisscrossing over his lower back.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes: Heterosexual - KeelHaul loves dominating a feisty lady. He is just as rough in the bedroom as he was in the interrogation room. Only this time, they might be coming back for more.

Name Nathaniel O'Callahan
Gender Male
Age 27
PositionRecently Captive Naval Officer

Personality Nathaniel is a survivor who values his freedom above all else.  Strong as a horse, and tougher to break.  He is tall, well muscled with a curly mop of dark brown hair that nearly covers bright green eyes.  A naturally gentle man unless pushed, Nate has learned to let others step first and learn from their mistakes.  When pushed, his steely resolve shows.

Biography Born a farmer's son, Nate was destined to follow in his father's footsteps until a few bad seasons forced the family to sell and move into the city.  Without the fields to work, Nathaniel found himself with a band of street toughs, and then on the wrong side of the law.  When presented with the options of prison or duties of a cabin boy, he opted for the jail with sails.  From the first voyage the boy was hooked.  Years passed and he grew into a man, climbing rank and eventually becoming the First Mate on a Royal Navy clipper.

The years of service had been conflicted.  The wind and water were the essence of freedom, but the regimented life with orders from a throne were the anti-thesis.  Months were dragging on as Nathaniel began to question his life.  His prayers were answered with a black flag and cannon fire.  A pirate ship had over taken them, resulting in a short but fierce battle.  Beaten, bloodied, and forced to his knees, Nathaniel watched as his Captain spit in the face of their captors.  The pirate woman standing over the commander drew the Captain's own sword, ran him through, and kicked the dying man overboard.  When Nathaniel's turn was up, he looked into the woman's eyes.

"Mercy, lass. I promise ye won't regret it."

The last thing Nathaniel saw was the pommel of his Captain's cutlass, then darkness.

Weapons/Equipment Had a full regalia, including cutlass, boot knife, and flint lock pistol.  I doubt the crew is rookie enough to have left anything pointy on his person.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Straight.  Consensual sex in the missionary position between a legally wed husband and wife for purpose of procreation.  Rough, devil may care passion.  Light pain like hair pulling and spanking.  Turning the tables, or being turned.  Dominating, but he wouldn't admit it.
Player's Offs: Gore and bathroom play.  Anything else within reason is on the table.

Name: 'Lady' Cassandra Middleton-Howard

Gender: Female.
Age: 22.
Height: 5’9 (1.74m)
Weight: ‘This question is utterly disgusting ...’
Hair Colour: Strawberry Blonde.
Eye Colour: Crystalline Blue-Green.

Musical Inspiration: Abdelazer (also spelled "Abdelazar") Movement 2, Rondeau - Henry Purcell (composer)

Position: Lady Cassandra Middleton is to start as a captive, eventually working her way up to Ship’s Physician through storyline.

Personality: There are words that could be used to describe Lady Cassandra, which are as follows: stubborn, prideful, resourceful, intelligent, passionate, and most of all compassionate when it suits the moment.  She is quick thinking and can use at least some weaponry and fond of bookish pursuits enough to learn a thing or two.

Biography: While many a woman of the 17th century is often willing to take what she is given and shut up, Lady Middleton-Howard is not one such.  While born the daughter of the Earl Carlisle - she is known to be one of at least two baseborn children that were well provided for. Unlike many men, she had a proper education alongside her half brother, heir to the title.  Though a bastard, she has enjoyed every bit of her father's status as well as being fully aware her mother - a Miss Georgiana Middleton - was born of solid gentry stock and became a courtesan to make her life more simple rather than needing to wed or worse - take a position.  It could be said that her mother, called the 'Swan Princess' in her heyday - is nothing short of famous in the right circles around London, Bath and particularly the cities of Calais and Paris.

Weapons/Equipment: Lady Cassandra carries with her a smallish ‘Queen Anne’ pistol with ornate silver decoration, which was a gift to her on her 18th name day.  Three bladed weapons are hidden in various areas beneath relatively lavish attire suited for the child of an English Peer: a dirk, and two more smallish blades, plain blades.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes: Heterosexual, but could probably be “forced” otherwise.  All depends on the writing of the character as things occur.

Player's Offs: No bathroom play, nor maiming and no godmodding.  Most important thing is communicate with me. I’m good with many things - but please don’t force me to suspend my disbelief, either - such as with modernity thrown too much in any writing.  Other questions?  Take a look at my offs and ons - here.  It’s a read - I’ll warn!

And Lady Cassandra is up!  Thank you Urbanzorro. :)

Name Trinity 'Scarlett' Valentine

Gender Female
Age 22
Position Ship's main cook

Appearance: Trinity stands at around 5'2" and has a very petite and slender figure. Although she does posses feminine curves, they are in propotion to her small frame. Her hair is long, reaching the small of her lower back and her eyes are a deep chestnut colour with dark, thick lashes. Trinity has a very delicate, fragile body from being ill for so long and finds it hard to physically stand up for herself but that doesn't hold back her sharp tongue. She often gets herself into trouble when things brew down to fighting because of her loud mouth. Her skin in very pale, almost like porcelain due to part of her illness.

Personality Trinity is a very hormonal character; one moment she could be the best of friends with you and the next she could verbally rip your head off. She's usually a very friendly person and enjoys alone time as well as being with the group and although she may seem quiet at times, be assured that she is quietly judging you and forming an opinion of you. She won't tell you what she's thinking to begin with, but she doesn't really need to. The redhead is very much an open book with her emotions; they radiate from her words and body language, so make sure you look out for that. Although she is aboard a pirate ship, she does have her morals and standards and doesn't give two shits about making them known. She has a bit of a dirty mouth, something that's developed over time with the crew and enjoys friendly banter. Once she has set her mind to something it's very hard to steer her from that thought. She enjoys cooking and it gives her a sense of purpose and relaxation. Although she can sometimes be quiet and enjoy being by herself, she doesn't like to think of herself as 'easy' or 'placid'. She can give as good as she gets and isn't afraid to stick up for herself most of the time and she enjoys playing hard-to-get to some degree. Trinity doesn't like to admit it, but because of her illness she can be very weak and in need of attention, even if it's just to watch her to make sure she's alright; it's brought on an extreme sense of pride for her and she absolutely hates being constantly watched or cared for. She keeps her mouth shut a lot of the time when she feels dazed or weak.

Biography Trinity was born in a poor village residing on a main Harbor. Her mother and father were poor people who just managed to get by with their butchers store on the front of the harbor. The two didn't plan on having a child any time soon, even though her father was getting on in years, simply because they didn't want to bring up a son or daughter in a world where they could barely afford to keep themselves alive; another mouth to feed would be such a blow on their finances. Despite them being careful, they found that she was with child and all they could do was keep each other strong. Her father put in extra hours at the butchers and the mother helped when she could, though her hours decreased as she became heavier. Trinity was born late in the night and weeks earlier than planned; she was very tiny and frail. They managed to sustain her with the help of a local doctor and although she was so small, she started off without trouble. When she was around four years old, Trinity developed pneumonia which caused her to lose weight, struggle with breathing and even movement was hard for her. Being so young, she didn't understand what was happening and would constantly cry which drove her mother mad. The woman struggled with depression for a long time while her child was sick, thinking that it was a curse on her family because she left her noble parents to marry the man she loved.

Trinity grew up with her illness for years before any improvement was noticeable. When she could, she helped out with her father in the butchers but she would usually just sit in the store and look out the window at the sea. Her mother was extremely depressed for a long time, but when Trinity showed an interest in cooking, she began to perk up and would teach her daughter a few things; it soon turned into full blown meals. Around the age of 15, Trinity had managed to fight off the server pneumonia and with the help of the doctor, she got better with only one thing to remember it by. She'd been left anemic but it was something she managed to get past with medicine from the doctor. She never cured it, but the pills she'd been given helped her to cope with the weakness. She had the occasional dizziness and throughout her life she'd collapsed a few times, but it wasn't anything that left her in real need of a doctor.

Little did her parents know, Trinity had developed a love of the sea; all those years of staring out of the store window had stirred something inside of her. She was now of age and felt she could make her own decisions, but her parents didn't think the same. She expressed to her father that she wanted to go out at sea, but he told her she had to stay home because she was so sick. The shop would often see different people in different jobs come through the front door and they would always tell her of stories of the sea; mermaids, giant fish, boats, different lands, it all excited her equally. When she spoke to her father about it again, he refused to let her leave and it made her consider running away. As long as she had her medication, she would be find. She felt so much better than she had ever done and her dream of going out at sea and seeing new things kept her alive and bright. She slipped out of her home above the store later that night and managed to convince herself to sneak onto a boat, which she managed. The girl was found to be a stoleway but instead of being cast overboard she was placed in the kitchens to earn her keep.

Weapons/Equipment Being the cook, she is around knives most of the time and feels more comfortable using them in battle; she has no weapon that belongs specifically to her, but would be willing to use things given to her.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Straight/Bi-curious - Trinity likes passionate partners who aren't afraid to act on their feelings and who know what they want. She enjoys affection whether it be publicly or intimately and very much likes the idea of a challenge. She very much likes partners who have an equally bad mouth (lots of cursing) and who are a little rough around the edges. (NC is also perfectly fine with MC, though she wouldn't particularly enjoy it.)

Player's Offs: Pregnancy, Bathroom play of any kind, Mutilation and Needles. (I don't mind them being in the RP, but with MC I would prefer none of these be involved. Look into my O/O's and if you have something in mind that is in the maybe/no section, please contact me and I'll see what I can do to compromise or something. If I say no, though, I mean no. Sorry!)

Hi Urbanzorro,

I created this character for a pirate game than never got off the ground, what to you think?

*******************************

Mary Nash was a born sailor  Literally.  She was born in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean as her parents emigrated to the Virginia colony.  Her father was an oysterman, her mother ran a cookhouse.  Mary started helping in the cookhouse as soon as she was big enough to hold a plate, but the sea always called to her, she begged, whined, threw tantrums, snuck aboard and stowed away, whatever it took to be out on the water with her dad.  Oyster fishing in the Chesapeake bay was a good life, even for mediocre oystermen, and her father was far from mediocre, he had a knack for it in fact.

But Mary wanted more.  She was far from unhappy she loved her parents, her siblings, life out on the bay with her dad was pleasant indeed.  But she could see the tall ships entering and leaving the sheltered waters of the great bay and as soon as her brothers were big enough to fill in, she signed aboard a ship headed for the Caribbean.

It was not quite what she had hoped for.  The ocean was glorious, she had been out on the open sea before, short trips and the long hours she spent up in the rigging on the journey south were blissful indeed.  But the captain... he wasn't the man her father was.  A good sort, not particularly brutal to the crew, he took no liberties with her, or the other woman aboard.  But he was cheap.  The sails were not the best, the ropes were a bit frayed.  And the gunpowder in the armory, inferior.  This came back to haunt them.

Their ship was a Barque, and old vessel, not well cared for.  The pirate was a sleek, carefully groomed vessel  packed with fighting men and cannon.  They didn't have a prayer of escape, and the damn fool captain was too proud to give in.  They fought and lost.

They could have won.  Mary had always had a knack with guns.  Despite being not much taller than a typical musket, she took to them like a natural.  As the pirate came alongside, raking the Barque with grapeshot, grappling hooks arcing over the rail, Mary fired at who she thought was the captain.  Hit him dead center of the chest, too.  And then he got up.  The powder, the powder.  She snarled, reloaded, fired again, hit again.  As the Pirate skipper got up again, and led the charge over the rail onto the deck Mary could clearly see both bullets embedded in his leather doublet.

The boarding action was over in less than a minute.  The enraged pirate chief's aim towards Mary was clear:  Rape and murder, with a side dish of torture.  His crew overruled him.  They thought it was damned funny that their chief had nearly had his ticket punched - twice - by a slip of a girl.  They gave her two choices:  She could choose to be passed around like a sack of wine and get dumped over the side with her throat cut.  Or she could choose to sign on with the crew..  She chose wisely.

There was only one major prize taken after she signed on, a merchantman.  Impressed by her marksmanship in defense of her own vessel, the pirates gave her a chance to show what she could do with a decent musket and powder.  She did well, picking off the quarry's helmsman, and the man who tried to replace him a a crucial moment.

And now she is in Port Royal, paid off and looking for a new ship.  The freedom, the sheer rush of life and combat at sea has stirred something in her soul.

************************************************

Of course some editing will need to be done to fit the circumstances of the start of this game - one of the reasons the original game failed was, i think, due to the fact that recruiting the crew was part of the IC play.  A splendid idea, I enjoyed the Rp, but not suitable for Forum play, it took too long and the game died before we even got out of port.

Now, in your character list, you mentions we cold play characterws who were captives, or about to be captives.  Hm, I culd leave out the background text about the loss of her ship, if you are starting things off with a bang, I'd love to actually play out the fight IC.  Nonlethal hits on the captain, or perhaps the master-at-arms  (the crew would love that), then scrambling through the upper rigging to avoid capture, then on the deck enduring relatively minor abuse while the pirates argue about what to do with her, fun fun!

As I'm sure you are aware, recruiting from beaten merchant crews was a prime source of new pirates.  Pirates being what they were, having one or more of their officers almost checked off of this mortal coil by a small woman is a sea story that would never get old.

The tricky part is for Mary to put up enough of a fight to draw notice, but if she were to actually kill two senior members fo the crew... she would not survive her capture for longer that it would take the pirates to pass her around like a jug of rum, then throw her over the side with her throat cut.  But if the happenstance of bad gunpowder is what saves her targets, well, pirate humor comes into play, and they will be eager to see what she can do with decent weapons and ammunition.

And of course, just because Mary Nash is part of the crew doesn't mean that grudges are not held.

This should not be a long involved process, and if it would fit what you have in mind better, Mary Nash can simply begin as a part of the crew.

What do you think?

This has my attentions to be sure. I'll be lookin through the crew list to see what's still open and go from there. I admit ahead of time I'm poor at adding pictures. But I could write out a description if that will suffice.

Name: Brom "Taskmaster" Quincy

Gender: Male

Age:35

Position: Boatswain

Personality: A hard edged man bent on precision and protocal. Nothing goes wrong if everyone and everything does the job thier supposed to when thier supposed to. However he does have a heart hidden behind all that rigid by the bookness but it's hard to find.

Biography: Grew up as a nobody with no grand tales of life before the sea except that he swore to never live in the gutter when he was able to leave home. His first stop was a cabin boy on in the Royal Navy. When he wasn't needed by the captian for something menial he was serving under the ship's boatswain or quartermaster swabbing decks and repairing sail and line. It was hard and many times his fingers bled and his body ached but it was a far cry from living on the streets hoping you had an odd job that would feed you for the week. That being said he was often making friends with the cooks to ensure he always had a way to eat. After being "retired" by a captain who seemed to simply have a splinter in his ass everytime they crossed paths Brom took to plying his trade for other ships reguardless of thier flag but certainly refused to sail under a Naval flag ever again and jumped at the chance to board and assualt one.

Weapons/Equipment: While comfortable with all manner of boarding "tools" he maintains his own cutless which is really very simple and shows signs of age. He's never without a dagger either, which he uses more on the lines of the ship than anything else so it stays very clean and very sharp. He was seen shaving with it once. Though he does carry a unique item with him always, a short handled gaff hook that he keeps sharper than its job demands.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes: Very much a straight man that has punched out a fellow more making advances. Being a man of order and disipline he expects the same everywhere he goes, if he says do it he expects it to be done. But he also believes that work and pleasure are seperate and is happy to simply "enjoy" the moment however it plays out.

selfexiled,

Your character's personality is very much in line with that of a good pirate, despite the image popular culture portrays of the breed.

A sailing ship is an insanely complicated bit of machinery, it takes a very high standard of crew skill and cooperation just to get the bloody thing to move where the Captain wants the contrary bitch to go!

Wild roistering, partying, fighting amongst each other were for port.  At sea, well, you had your job to do and if you didn't do it, you were a danger to everybody.

Pirates were often amazingly well organized while underway, and surprisingly self-disciplined - they didn't hold with "conventiona"l merchant and naval punishments like flogging, keelhauling and the like but they were quite ready to maroon any fellow pirates who didn't pull their own weight.

There were exceptions of course, the wild types who fit the Hollywood image.  They didn't live long, tending to be drunk on watch  when Pirate Hunters are creeping up on you kinda shortens the life expectancy.

It is true Healergirl that many pirates were actually well organized and effiecent atleast the ones who lived longer than a few fights. The hollywood version is ofcourse greatly influenenced by folklore and popular opinion and not really a true pirate.
I am actually a member of the Navy and think that I have atleast a little bit of insight but don't expect an exact representation considering that we no longer use wind powered vessels.

Urbanzorro

Name  Maximilian Mondego aka "Lucky Max"
Gender Male
Age 32
Position Captain
Personality As a result of his upbringing and military experiences Maximilian is normally a quite man, he tends to speak with a calm authority towards nearly everyone he meets. He rarely every seems to have doubts about any course of action he is taking. Those who have not known him long most often receive the impression that he is aloof and detached from his emotions. But those who know him well understand that this is simply the image he wishes to project, he has a violent temper when pushed to his limits and has been known to hold vendettas against those he feels have wronged or insulted him.
Biography Maximilian was born the son of a relatively low ranking noble family. As such he wanted for very little if anything while growing into a man. His education consisted of philosophy, literature, mathematics, and every other skill that a nobleman was expected to possess. He was brought up in the Mondego tradition, with the idea that his loyalty was, and always should be, first and foremost to his family.

By the time Maximilian had reached the age of 14 war had once again come to Europe and, as was expected by his family's tradition of service to the crown, Maximilian joined the military. His branch of choice being the navy. Throughout the war Maximilian proved himself an excellent sailor and eventually showed a strong aptitude for both tactical and strategic planning when it came to naval warfare. So much so that at war's end Maximilian had been given command of a small ship which was to be the first stepping stone to greater glories.

But all this came to an end with the advent of peace, the navy was slowly but surely downsized. And eventually Max's commission was 'forgiven' and his term of service to the crown was considered at an end. It was around this same time that the Mondego family suffered a great tragedy. In a well planned political maneuver another family managed to bring the Mondegos to shame and acquire the vast majority of their estate. With no other option left to him, Max's father took the "Gentleman's Escape" one night in the reading room of the family's house. Max's grief stricken mother followed shortly their after.

With no one remaining and nothing left to him bet vast amounts of anger and rage Maximilian gathered what little funds he could, made his way to the nearest port city, and 'acquired' a ship. He has spent the last four years of his life as a lawless pirate on the seas. Living by no other code than his own, taking what he wants from whomever he wants at any time he so desires. In that time he has managed to acquire quite the reputation as both a skilled pirate and as a man to whom the concept of mercy is quite foreign
Weapons/Equipment Normally, Max carries his family sword, rapier who's blade he has had slightly shortened in order to increase it's ease of use aboard a ship. In addition to this he has a flintlock pistol and often carries a knife or other form of secondary blade. He also has a decorative coat he has been known to wear when needing to give off a regal presence.
Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Max is open to most things when it comes to sex. He as a strong enjoyment for being in power over the other person and has a tendency to dominate his lovers. He also has a bit of a sadistic streak which can at times cause him to greatly enjoy causing others pain.
Player's Offs: Scat is probably the only one I can think of. I'm open to most other things.

selfexiled,

Your navy background explains a lot!  And of course technology changes everything, including human interactions. Bbut people are people.  I am currently reading the Osprey Book "Nelson's Sailors" to get in the headspace for life aboard a sailing vessel, this passage from the book stands out:

"A vessel of war contains a little community of human beings, isolated, for the time being, from the rest of mankind.  this community is governed by laws peculiar to itself; it is arranged and divided in a manner suitable to it's circumstances."  From Samuel Leech's memoirs of his life as an ordinary seaman in Nelson's time.

This applies not just to warships - although Pirate ships do, I think, quality as unconventional warfare ships.  It applies to any pre-radio seagoing vessel,  the mental and emotional isolation of spending days not seeing anything other than the sea, even in the Caribbean is just as rough as the physical isolation. More so, I would argue.

I am about to go Full Metal History Nerdette here, so I will dial things back a few notches.

I am by no means demanding diamond-hard realism from any player, E is fun, not work, but I look forward to any insights you may have!

Urbanzorro,

Very believable backstory for a pirate captain!

*reads his personality notes and says weakly*  Um... that's the man Mary Nash  maybe knocks off his feet with a weakly-charged bullet?  Oh, he would not forget that anytime soon, nope.

Urbanzorro

Ok, so this first portion is directed at people who have already posted characters and not yet had them approved
@ Flaming: He looks good thus far, though we'll need a picture before you're approved.
@ Warlord Zanyl: Approved, though I am curious how you intend to play him (mostly for my own plot planning purposes) do you plan on having him be more sadistic/crazy rage or more of a controlled sort of portrayal?
@ElCapitan: He looks good so far, though he'll need a picture of course
@Haloriel: She looks good and is approved. :D
@xSnorkleRainbow: She's approved, though I just want to be clear. Do you intend to have her start as an established crew member?
@selfexiled: looks good so far, though he'll need a picture too

Ok, now this is more directed at everyone. The following is a quick list of who we have in the game thus far and where they will stand as far as the captive/crew line at game start. (this includes those who have stated interest but not yet posted a character). If I'm wrong about anything please let me know.

Crew
Captain Maximilian Mondego (Urbanzorro)
First Mate Charlotte DuPont (Kokaine)
Master At Arms KeelHaul(Warlord Zanyl)
Quarter Master Fincher (Flaming)
Boatswain Brom Quincy (selfexiled)
Assorted Crew/Officers(Rigger) Boniface Borgia (TheRaven)
Assorted Crew/Officers(Cook) Trinity Valentine (xSnorkleRainbow)
kckolbe: Expressed interest in a passenger paying to travel with the crew
immabanana Expressed interest in Quarter Master

Captives
Nathaniel O'Callahan(ElCapitan): A former officer to be captured during game start
Cassandra Middleton-Howard(Haloriel): A bastard daughter of a noble to be captured duing game start and eventually become the ship's doctor
Mary Nash(Healergirl): A female sailor to be captured during game start and quickly be assimilated into the crew with possible tensions remaining
Dashenka: Expressed interest in playing a captive
AurelieCatena: Expressed interest in playing a captive
Chreestafer: Expressed interest in playing a captive rival pirate
MagicalPen: Expressed interest in playing a captive

Ok, so that's 7 crew members with the possibility of it bumping up to 9 should kckolbe and immabanana still be interested, and 3 initial captives with a possible 7 should everyone who expressed interest in being a captive post a character. Of those only 5 are so fare scripted/planned to remain captives for the majority of the game. SO with that in mind I'm closing off the crew portion of our recruiting for now. If you're someone on the list above and have yet to post of a crew character please feel free to do so. But if not please understand that at this point I'm only looking for captives at this point.

By my current count we have 6 male characters and 4 females posted. Of our males nearly all are straight so we are at a bit of a deficit for females. With that in mind I'm not going to close the game off to males just yet but I am going to let everyone know that I'll be giving a strong precedence and preference towards female applications until we have a better gender balance.

As far as raw numbers go, with 10 player characters posted thus far I'd say we have enough people to run the game though I'm hoping for a few more. Ideally I'd want between 12 and 14 players total for a single ship. If anyone has any thoughts or comments or questions about my analysis of our player composition please feel free to say so :D

With that out of the way, everyone can expect some further info on our ship/setting in a short time. I'll most likely include it as part of an OOC thread.

She will already be apart of the crew. (: Glad you like her. I'll read through her profile sometime soon just to proof read it as I didn't get a chance to earlier.

Haloriel

Yaaaaaay.  I am excited.  Excellent Captain, by the way.  Very believable!  Thank you, Urban!

* Haloriel rolls in circles.

Warlord Zanyl

Glad my character's approved. To answer you, I'll be portraying him as the more controlled sort for most of the time but he may occasionally slips into being the sadistic/crazy rage depending on the scene, situations and if that side of him is required.

Healergirl

Her hair is cut shorter than in the picture, it will not get in her eyes under any circumstances.  A small, lightly built  small-breasted woman who is not much taller than the long musket she favors.  Brown hair, brown eyes, usually a slight smile on her face - except when she is fighting.  Then she is snarling, but a very impersonal snarl, a mask of concentration, not fury.

Name Mary Nash

Gender Female

Age Late teens, looks a bit older.

Position Prisoner, then Able Seaman, Tops'lman, Lookout, Marksman

Personality Outgoing, exuberant - except in combat then she is as coldly impersonal as the flintlock on her musket.  She does not expect to win any hand-to-hand fight she finds herself in, and will ovoid such a thing at all costs. Backstabbing somebody?   Depends on the circumstances.  She refers to start a fight by surprise, from behind, and if at all possible, at long range.

Biography Mary Nash was a born sailor  Literally.

Weapons/Equipment  Belaying pin, a hanger (like a cutlass, but a lighter blade), a Musket - not a rifle, not even a high-grade Musket, but it is a weapon she knows very well, knows it's quirks, has fired it many times, calls it "baby".  Durable but not flashy clothing, usually goes barefoot aboard ship, has sturdy boots  and short coat for use on land.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Straight, but since no woman ever got preggers by laying with another woman - becoming a pirate will, um, broaden her horizons.  (I will emphatically not rule out Mary  getting frisky with Male characters.  If it develops naturally from play, I look forward to any IC relationships and interaction whether long term friendships, falling outs and becoming enemies,  moments of post-battle survival sex passion, forced submission due to circumstance, the works!)

Player's Offs:  I dislike mutilation, toilet play is a hard no. Scarring - hey, being a Pirate is dangerous.  For the most part, if it develops from play in a logical fashion, I'm good with it.

Name Konrad Roht

Gender Male

Age 22

Position Captive/Turncoat - Optional Capture Scene

Personality Konrad likes discipline and orders. He can be loyal to a fault once his loyalty and trust is earned. He also likes to drink which often leads to getting into fights once his pride is questioned or hurt.

Biography Konrad hails from the Hesse-Kessel Region of the Germanic States. He was born for war in a highly militaristic society. His training started at a young age and he was fortuneate enough to be blessed with a good body - he stands to 6'2", with broad shoulders and a muscled body. It was clear that he was always going to be destined to be a Grenadier - a troop of soldiers recruited into its ranks based on their size and and intimidation. Konrad fit right in.

Once he came of age, Konrad joined a Mercenary Company. It plied its trade - that of death-bringing - all over Europe and the Americas. The pay was good and traveling the known world was certainly an eye opening experience. Konrad was serving aboard a ship in Her Majesties Service when it came under attack by pirates and he was captured during the course of battle.

Weapons/Equipment All weapons were removed upon his capture.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Konrad is straight and enjoys all the pleasures a woman can give to him.

MagicalPen,

Konrad Roht,  Love him!

What year are we playing in, Urbanzorro?  Konrad might actually have gotten some training with grenades, which were a dangerous and popular boarding weapon.  dangerous to both the user and the target, that is.  The term became used more loosely as a general term for shock troops.

Hm.  Konrad and Mary could become something of a poosible Ic connection. he's a Giant for the time, she's a small woman.  They both are very good with firearms - his training emphasizing rate of fire, Mary goes for accuracy.  Both of them much better than the typical pirate.  Konrad would be just the ticket to spearhead a boarding action with a grenadiers "Take what they throw at you and close with the enemy" attitude.

Why yes, I did some American Revolution re-enacting back in the day.  Sutler, camp follower, soldier's wife that sort of thing.

Rahzilla

I would love to play a female captive, if the spots are still open :)

Name: Rose Escar

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Position: Captive, caught on the last raid

Personality: A typical lady of the time. She is considered prim and proper as she never likes to disobey her parents. She was raised in a rich environment and could be considered stuck up by some, although she doesn’t intend to act that way. She is fun loving and likes to read whenever possible. She was raised to be the perfect bride, although, she still hasn’t submitted to the idea that a man would be in control of her life. She is a bit wild when you get her going. She isn't easily angered but if you know how to push her buttons, then she can be a wild child.

Biography: Rose was born to a rich and noble family. Her parents were relatively well known in their area and were known for sons in the military. Rose is the only daughter, with 3 older brothers. Her parents raised her to be the perfect bride for when it was time to be wed off. Whenever a suitor came along, she seemed to scare them off with her views and desires to be considered free in their marriage. She is a bit of a wild child, her father would say.
She was out for a walk one day, down near the docks when she heard a sound. The next thing she knew there were gun shots and men surrounding her. Fighting back as much as she could—and with no knowledge of self defence—she was knocked unconscious and taken captive by a pirate crew.

Name Sevryn Salryn

GenderMale

Age 26

Position He is a mainly a loner, a Pirate hand for hire, at said moment he is a captive.

Personality Very witty when he needs to be.  Friendly but very untrustworthy, is quiet around others and mistaken as shy, but truthfully he is just listening and waiting.

Biography His mother was a pirate and his father was a noble born.  The love affair betwen two such peoplke was frowned upon and once Sevryn was born, his fathers father scentenced his mother and him to be "delt" with.  On that night his parents planned an escape that worked but ended in his fathers death. He was then shoved off in a barrel with his mothers cutlas and longnknife, days later an older couple found him floating at sea in a barrel and gave him life as a fisher boy.  When he turned 14 though the small fishing village was pillaged by a pirate crew whose captain was said to be halfway into the world of the dead (like voodoo ghosty stuff) anyways he was enslaved on the ship. The captain took the blades sevryns mother gave him as his own. So for years Sevryn slowly moved up to be a crew member secretly ruing the day when he would take his vengeance.   Well at 19 a small ship battle broke out, Sevryn found it time to escape yet sadly couldn't find the blades, so in turn he stole the captains most prized possession,  his gun blades, which werent unheard of, yet he had uniquly engineered multishot gunblades that made him a feared pirate to begin with.  Anywho sevryn got away and has these gunblades and is in search for the captain to take his mothers blades back.  Meanwhile, The dark captain has his own vengence set for Sevryn.

Name Prim Anger-Blade
Gender Female
Age A young eighteen
Position Captive(at the beginning of game)
Personality Despite being a relative tiny thing, standing at only 5', Prim has a mouth on her that will make most courteous men blush. It has been known to get her in trouble on quite a few ocassions, but usually she combats her way out of it with her trusty sword, Damned. When Damned fails to bail her out, she is not above using trickery or bribery. At most ale houses she is known as the "Tiny Temptress" or the "Damnable Badmouthed Whore." This doesn't phase her ego one bit. She can often be found throwing back some strong ones with the boys or cussing over a card game.
Biography Prim was born Primrose Mason to a young whore at an port that she prefers to withold. All of her young life was spent dreaming and wondering who her father was. It was a frequent fantasy of hers that her father was some adventurous, brave pirate taking from the rich bastards that slept with her mother and giving it all to himself. When she wasn't fantasizing, she was cleaning beds soaked in all kinds of unflattering bodily fluids for the owner of the brothel her mother belonged to.

At the age of twelve, Primrose packed up a bag full of stale bread from the brothel kitchen's. With that and the clothes on her back, she ran away before she became the same sob story as her worthless mother. On the docks of the next port over, Primrose took to hanging around the pirates that frequented the docks. She dropped the rose to her name and just became "Prim." Her ways of making a living hustling and gambling caught the eyes of most of the pirate captains, and before she was even fourteen, she was taken aboard the ship of the fearsome Captain Hardjaw.

Her life with Captain Hardjaw was an easy one while she was young. She entertained him by playing cards and drinking with him which is where her love of booze formed. However, as she grew older he entrusted her with more hardened duties. By seventeen, she was his Firstmate. It seemed that she was on top of the world with the other crewman looking up to her, confiding in her, actually wanting her company. It was a nice change until the day that Captain Maximilian Mondego sunk her beloved Hardjaws ship and took her as a captive prize on his floating turd of a ship.
Weapons/Equipment Damned
Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Prim is actually rather innocent, despite having spent most of her younger life in a brothel and the rest among sweaty pirate men. She has yet to develope an specific taste sexual-wise. She is, however, often attracted to males, females, and even those who may not be bound within the two genders.
Player's Offs: No toilet play, mutilation, or any other overly freaky kinkiness. However, most things go. :3

If you are still seeking captives I would be very interested in playing a strong willed, young lady. With a streetwise mentality as an orphan, with spunk and a bit of fight in her. Love a good struggle, she could be yet to be captured possibly on their first stop after starting the roleplay. Let me know I will check back today for a response and post a character profile if you still wish to have more captives.

I was thinking: since, at the start of the game, the crew will be already set, doesn't this mean the crew members already relate with each other, likes, dislikes, old grudges, drink pals...? Do we discuss these pre-game or do we just start with the story?

Kokaine

I'd certainly be open to discussing possible history/relationships with those who'd already be aboard the ship.

Hey! If you're still accepting female captives, and since this is a pirate RP, how does a female mermaid captive sound? When dry, she'd be a normal looking human, but in salt water, she'd have the tail?

Rahzilla

That sounds cool, but maybe it wouldn't have to just be salt water, as in, if she were on deck when it rained, she would become wet and her tail would show?

Wouldn't that be counter-productive? I wouldn't mind, but it's harder to interact when you've got a fish tail and can't move on deck! Haha.

Only one problem I see, if she were desperate to get away, which her character personality might be, then they can't ever bring her above deck, because as soon as she's in the water, she's gone lol

A small amount of strangeness is fine, after all people did believe low-fantasy magic in a way.   Whether it is real or not.   Very rare, and very dangerous to be around, even more dangerous to actually use.  dangerous to the point of:

Self-described Wizard:  "We are making no headway, I'm casting a spell to bind the winds! Itt will take a couple of hours but-"

Mary:  "You're going to do what now?"

Wizard:  "Cast a spell to bi-"

He falls silent as a pistol cocks and the muzzle is placed against his head.

Mary:  "No.  No you're not."

Take any modern trope about how dangerous Science and Technology are, dial it up to 11, and that is how people used to feel about magic.

Note that this has no bearing on whether or not magic per se actually exists in Urbanzorro's setting.  But claiming you know how to use it will get you killed.

In a very messy way.

Not by the authorities perhaps, the heyday of the Burning Times is past but depending on when exactly the year is that this is set in... you don't want to take the chance of being known or suspected as a witch, no matter how useful to the ship's crew you are.

A real Mermaid in the group is a very interesting idea.  Magical beings, magic itself if used in very small doses adds a wonderful atmosphees, but I think such elements should be introduced with great caution.

Right, and anyways, I was thinking of her getting caught in a completely human-ly way. Something along the line of fishing nets, or being sold as a slave. Many pirate genres have mermaids, and she won't be too magical. Her only ability would be the transformation anyways.

Not necessarily: sometimes are not physical shackles that keep you where you are. Maybe she needs something, or is in love with someone, or could get away but should leave behind something too important for her. I think those are things much more interesting that just being captive.

depends on her character type I guess. if she plans to fall for someone or not... but if she wants to escape, then they would need to shackle her, or something. Once she goes over the side of the boat, it would be hard to catch her again after she swims away

Flaming,

Pirates acquired all sort of odds and end, bits of jewelry and knickknacks they never sold for booze or sex because well, there was just something about that little item.   It's kinda weird when you look at it in dim light,  but it's small, takes up no room in the kit bag at all, so why not keep it.  It will make a nice memento to show  people at a tavern, the story about how you got it might be worth a tankard of ale, and who knows, maybe someday when a guy is hard up (in every sense of the word) some tavern strumpet might take it  n exchange for a roll in the hay.

Something a mermaid might be searching for, and whoever has it doesn't even know what they have.

immabanana,

Mermaids are no harder to incorporate than the idea of women serving openly as pirates, really.  But to keep the period feel and flair, caation and moderation must be used.  Pirates were a rather free=wheeling bunch by the standards of the day, so women serving openly can be handwaved away as part of heir social separateness from the mainstream.  Pirate women taken prisoner by the authorities will be harshly treade because they are women who break social conventions even more so than their mail bretheren.

Not that I have any kinkish interest in such a thing, of course not.

Magic....  this is an old argument in gaming.  How realistic should things be?  People of the time believed in mermaids, and low level non-flashy magic.  If players don't get some benefit from acting true to that belief, well, being players, they won't because it gains them nothing.  So throwing some taste of magic into a pirate game, magic that is not quite relegated to  the corners and shadows of reality but is getting pushed there fast?  I'm good with that.

Name Lillian
Gender Female
Age 21
Position Uncaught captive.
Personality Shy, quiet, straightforward. She fears relationships, and tries to distance herself from people.

Biography Every mermaid is born with a soul pearl, an item that is needed to reproduce, and Lillian happened to wear hers around her neck.
Being born to a loving father and mother with a beautiful magenta tail and dark brown hair, she was raised as a normal mermaid in the Atlantic Ocean, until, at 3 years of age, she was kidnapped. A slave trader had been out, fishing for budding mermaids, but instead, had caught a toddler. This man had no idea how to care for the young mermaid, in fact, he didn’t even know that they even needed care at all, and after taking her soul-pearl, threw the useless 3 year old into a jug of chlorinated water.
She was then raised by the slave traders for 3 years, and at 6 years old, and was sold to a rich old man who wanted only to add her to his collection and watch her swim. Unlike the slave traders, the old man was kind and kept her fed, though without much interaction. When she was 9 years old, her caretaker, the kind old man passed away, and she was whisked back to the slave traders.

After 6 years of living in, breathing, and soaking in chlorine water, her hair and tail colors had been bleached silver. And although considered ugly and socially unacceptable to mermen, the humans found it beautiful and enchanting, and she was again sold off as entertainment to a rich couple. The couple kept her for a long 7 years until the husband began to fall in love with the beautiful young mermaid. He kept it a secret from his wife, and everyday, he’d slip into the room where the tank was held, and watch her. Finally, one day, the man decided to enter the tank, and was caught by his wife, whom, of course, blamed Lillian for seducing her husband, and was sent off again, back into the market.

The mermaid circled the market for another year, and finally, an Indian collector bought her, and had her shipped over to India. However, during the trip to India, a rough storm broke out and Lillian’s tank shattered in the discord. She then escaped off the boat and went back where she belonged, the sea.

18, and without an idea in the world of where she was, Lillian wandered around the ocean, making her goal to find her soul-pearl. For 3 years, she’s been on and off land, falling in and out of love and still searching for that special jewel.

Ability When dry, her tail turns into human legs; this is reversed by submerging the legs in a body of water.

Character's Orientation/Likes/Dislikes Wet sex (baths, bodies of water, semen… etc) Giving oral. Hates dry sex, NC, pain.

Player's Offs: Intense gore, watersports, pregnancy. Most everything else should be fine.

Sorry I have been away from a computer all weekend. I would like first to clarify my character's image, the picture is mainly for the face and head without the rediculous expression of course. His body however, while as strong as depicted is not as toned. He also has a little bit of a belly, as was mentioned he's fond of befirending the cooks so that he always has access to food. A byproduct of growing up with a meal never being guarenteed.

As to the mermaid, if I may throw in my hat for a brief moment, I believe that in salt water her tail should be complete but in fresh water like rain only her scales become visible. This would add a more exotic feel to the character I believe. Also pirates are a very superstitous lot, magic and voodoo and curses were common place but not always very real. But all is in the hands of the GM.
Originality is fast becoming obsolete, to make a trully unique world all your own is the mark of a great writer, artist, thinker.
