Who cosplay?

Hey there. I just did my first attempt at cosplaying at a local convention, and I found it was actually pretty fun. Meeting new people in different costumes.

So the question I ask you, if you could cosplay as something...who or what would you be?

What was your cosplay?

I might also have to answer who I've been so far since I picked this up.  I've been Roronoa Zoro from One Piece, Kohta Hirano from High School of the Dead, and Sky High from Tiger & Bunny.  I want to be Commander Shepard most of all right now.

I cosplay. Generally it's OC characters, but sometimes I'll cosplay canon characters (It's really rare though)... Usually my Canon cosplays are Female Martial Arts Turk(FFVII: Before Crisis) and Yuugao Uzuki (Naruto)

I never go to a convention without my Kaylee (Firefly) costume.  Its so freaking comfortable not to mention adorable*nods sagely*.  Cosplay is a great icebreaker I've made some pretty awesome friends through it.  Makes me wish I were more handy (or at all really) with a sewing machine.  It is absolutely amazing what people can recreate.

My 'dream' cosplay would have to be the red leather Mord-Sith costumes from Legend of the Seeker.  So freaking badass, detailed, and sexy without showing skin.

Comfort isn't the object with me, more like... who will I be hanging out with the most...during my short amount of 'me time' at con XD I'm working both nights of con... from 8pm to 8am XD As a Shift Coordinator for all the AV gear...

But yeah, either way... that red dress is one of my favorites, but I have several Dr.Who cosplayers who are like "NUUUU you HAVE to do this! Join us! JOIN US!" and I'm going... *shoulder sag* fine...

LOL, The Archivist is a character I want to do... but the problem lies in the fact that last year... when I showed up as her... and spoke to a few people... I was completely ignored at the photoshoot, even by the couple of people who knew me. No one went "Hey, wanna join us for some pictures"... I ended up getting shoved to the side, and ignored. So I figured "She doesn't stand out enough." But now I have a group of cosplayers, who want me to join THEM. Sarah Jane, 10th Doctor, 11th Doctor, and two Jack Harkness...

MMHMM, It also depends on the weather, what people wear. You guys will be lucky, there is a huge RE cosplay group at Sakuracon :D

Not yet... but soon, hopefully. I've been trawling the Internet looking for decent designs for Rescue from the Iron Man series... and come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to somehow piece my own together. Getting increasingly nervous about this.

For me, step 1 was "have an experienced friend who will hold your hand through the entire process if it means her heavy-armour group gets an Iron Man or a Rescue". I'd point you in the right direction, but... I can't seem to find any patterns for ARC armor that people aren't charging for.

My 'Lady' cosplay, medieval style outfit, is off the roster for my cosplays, for awhile. It needs modifications. I've begun the process on working on a few more of my original character concepts, hopefully they go over well.

Start with cardboard.  I saw some fabulous armor this weekend that was cardboard and colored duct tape.  Since cardboard is cheap and easily attainable, you can go with the 'cut away everything that doesn't look like a shin guard' technique.

This, pretty much. Go-to beginner materials are cardboard or thin foam rubber sheets. If you want a cardboard costume to last a long time, though, you'll need to learn to work with fiberglass resin. I'm going with foam for my first armour, but I'm lucky enough to have a good pattern.  (I'd recommend poking around the RPF or the 501st - the former is loaded with general tips and tricks, and the latter is focused on clone army builds in particular.)

While, I haven't cosplayed, I have a cousin who does an amazing Poison Ivy. Were I to do so myself, I'd love to do either the David Tennant Doctor Who or an escapee from one of the Vaults from Fallout. Could be fun to make a Vault 108 or 77 jumpsuit, just to see who twitches when they remember what happened there....

Yeah, Pepakura is the standard in armour design. It's what I'll be using for my Rescue.

Anyone go to WonderCon this weekend? OMG, you guys and your Cosplays are so awesome. I was so jealous of all the creativity and amazing craftiness put into them.  <3

It's only the 2nd Con I've ever been to and the first really big one. It was overwhelming there was so much to see and do. (I think I need some sort of like Anime character guidebook or something though. I had no idea who half the costumes were but they were still super amazing.)
