I had never heard of him before, but from what I read, he was (i) never convicted of the actual attacks, and (ii) he wasn't pardoned, his sentence was commuted. The big difference is that a commutation reduces someone's sentence, but leaves the guilty verdict intact, i.e. they still have a criminal record, whereas a pardon wipes out the guilty verdict itself.

Skittle spill in Wisconsin actually helped road traction during bad weather, and because of the spill, people found out that cows are often fed Skittles.

I asked my father about this (he grew up on a farm), and he shrugged and said his family used to give the cows sorghum syrup from time to time, so he said that the Skittles thing, while a bit odd, made sense to him as a small something to feed cows. Neat--learned something new today.  ;D

Dozens of Congressmen (all listed are Reps, not Senators) are skipping the inauguration.  Some are specifically attending other events, such as an interfaith vigil, or the Women's March on Washington (which is the following day.)  Several are specifically citing things that the President-elect has said or done that has made them decide not to attend.

Sweden has officially reached the milestone of ten million people. A couple of years ago that was not supposed to happen until around 2028, but a rise in immigration has pushed the numbers faster upwards since around 2010 (actually, we probably hit the mark about a year ago after the refugees surge of 2015, but before those people have a permit to stay for an extended time they don't enter the population statistics...).

Trump is already trying to copyright a slogan for a re-election bid, "Keep America Great".  Except that's already taken.

Yeah, Trump’s new slogan is literally the same exact one used in the fittingly titled horror movie “The Purge: Election Year.”

Actually, the movie basically made the slogan as a way to troll Trump. While discussing the film, star Frank Grillo told Comicbook.com:

“In the beginning when we shot the movie it wasn’t called Purge: Election Year,” Grillo reveals. “Oddly enough, the guy who plays the President in the movie, he plays him like Trump - totally by accident. There’s a lot of parallels between the GOP race and the movie and the messages that are being put forward and then Universal got this great idea to call it Purge: Election Year.”

And now, the president-elect wants to use the slogan from the film as his own.

As for Trump - he's in the news over here, of course. Some of the prognoses for how his rule will impact Poland are... scary.

When I was a kid we were around 8½ million. Most of Sweden is nowhere near as densely populated as Poland or Germany. Massive forests though.  :-)

This is pretty bad news. This means Clinton Health Access Initiative, Clinton Climate Initiative and the Clinton Development Initiative will most likely shut down. Whatever your personal feelings it was a billion dollar charity that did work on a global scale.
