Well the way I understand is that there aren't nobles per se, on Gor. Instead, you have the High Castes, which are the scribes, warriors, physicians, initiates  and builders. These castes are the ones commonly involved in government and to have a parent who is high ranking in one of these castes would be as close as one would get to being a noble on Gor. For more information have a look at this link: http://www.thegoreancave.com/castes/castes.php. Hopefully that helps.

I'm thinking that her father is a member of the council of the city and is of the warrior caste.

Sounds good! Also, nice character Fulgrim. Okay, so I'm going to give everyone else a day or so to get their characters up and then I'll start the thread.

Right now I am thinking of making a Free-Woman as well. Still mulling her over in my mind but the basic sketch is a woman of the Physician Caste who has had the, required, two children to be a fully practicing (and well respected) Physician. Her children will be fully grown and just background NPC's if there is reason for them to appear.

Awesome, I like the concept a lot. :)

So here is what I have been thinking. She's a FW and intends to stay that way! lol She knows she has a good life as a Physician and isn't looking for it to change. At some point in the game it could, of course, but capturing her wouldn't be an easy task to manage without either the one trying, or herself, ending up dead in the process. :) Since most women on Gor aren't trained in weapons, she takes to keeping poison on her person at all times when traveling in the City.

CS

Name: Adilah
Age:150 (appears mid-late twenties)
Gender:Female
Status: Free
Caste: Physician of Ko-Ro-Ba
Homestone: Ko-Ro-Ba

Personality: Adilah is a kind and caring woman with a gentle bedside manner and sweet temperament but with steel at her core. In public she is as cold and haughty as any other FW and pauses in her tasks only for those that can claim kinship to her. Shrewdly intelligent and with an unfailing will and loyal almost to a fault she can be a wonderful friend...or a dire enemy.

Biography: Born the only child of parents both of the Physcian's Caste, she was doted on by her father. In part this was because she was his only child, and in part (though he'd never admit it) it was a sense of guilt that lingered in his soul because his Companion took ill shortly after giving birth to Adilah and he was unable to save her. Having never known her Mother in fact, all of Adilah's thoughts on the woman are through her Father's memories and every year they come together to visit the grave of the woman he never forgot and she never knew.

Knowing no other way to raise a child, her Father simply kept her with him most of the time. He trained her in his own Craft but also saw to the hiring of tutors to see to the training of other skills she would need to know as a FW of High Caste. Seeing she had the aptitude, and drive, for working within their Caste, her Father also saw to it, that she had the chance to study under the most renowned Physician's within the City and that her own skill and knowledge was greater even than his own. He also made sure she understood that, as in many cities, she wouldn't be free to fully practice her art until she had born two children.

Children were easy enough to arrange. Letting her father help in seeking out her first Free Companion she chose a man of agreeable temperament and who was easy on the eyes, from the Warriors Caste who was seeking a Companion to bear him sons. Both knowing it was only a temporary Companionship, and not a love match, she chose to keep her own Caste instead of joining his and after bearing him two strong and healthy sons, they allowed their Companionship to dissolve on good terms and remain quite cordial to this day. She kept the boys with her in their formative years, teaching them the basic skills of reading, writing, mathematics, and science as they are known on Gor and when they came of an age to be trained in the Warriors arts she turned them over to their Father (who had been a steady presence in their life until then, if not their primary parent) to train in the Caste they would belong to.

Now free to fully practice her skills, she joined her father in his work, meeting his patients, garnering new ones of her own (especially among other FW who felt more comfortable speaking to another Woman of certain problems) and among some of the slave merchants who found that, freshly caught, slaves responded better to a Female Physician than a Male.

No fool about the latter set of clients, she never went near such merchants without a dagger concealed in her robes, poisoned pins in her holding her veils, a syringe of poison in her medical bags and both of her sons (now fully trained Warriors still very protective of their Mother) leading the way to protect her should a Merchant take it in his mind that fully trained Physician just might make a profitable addition to their pens.

Currently she has no Companion and is content with that having decided that she had no need to make another political, or simply convenient, partnership and instead choosing to wait for a Man she can love as well as like and respect. Her father still lives and her own home is actually right beside his. Not living alone, her home houses herself, a cook, a maid, one female slave (for running light errands and serving when Company is present) and one male slave (for heavier errands, fetching and carrying heavy burdens, and carting her medical bags when she goes to visit patients) as well having rooms for her sons when they visit and a small house between her own and her Father's house where the guards he has hired live.

Despite people disappearing, and rumors of why, and the added guards her Father insists on, she is well aware that she has a good and comfortable life and fully intends to keep it that way. Because of the rumors she is more cautious than normal, never traveling the City at night and never alone but beyond those few, small, changes she doesn't spend much time worrying about what will come.

Weapons and Equipment: Poisoned pins that hold her veils and concealed on her robes, a dagger strapped to her thigh that she can reached through a hidden slit in the folds of her robes, her medical bags, and at least one syringe of poison always in one, or both, of those as well.

Looks good Caela. Since we have the majority of our characters already posted, I'm going to go ahead and start the thread tomorrow. helvorn, feel free to take as long as you need and as soon as you post your character sheet, feel free to dive right in.

Do the characters have a list of skills? Or if you are going simply by "Career" skills, do they have ratings in them?
Just curious at the moment, as I've got other games on this forum and others. But this looks like a nice mix of Amber and Stalker. Which is actually quite appropriate 8-)!

I might drop by later, though, if I get more free time and you happen to have free slots >:)!

Name: Lisah
Age: 18
Gender:Female
Status: Free
Caste: Warrior
Homestone: Ko-Ro-Ba

Personality: Lisah is a proud and willful girl who has been desperately spoiled by her father upon the death of her mother when she was 10.  She has absorbed the tenets of the Warrior Caste despite her female nature and many who know her say that she is truly a warrior who was born into the body of a female.  Intelligent, proud and stubborn she fiercely maintains her independence with the support of her father and projects a cold and commanding aura to the outside world.

Deep inside she hopes that she can find a man whom she can truly respect.  She wonders what it would be like to be tamed and taken as a slave or even given as a concubine to a strong warrior.  Yet these thoughts she keeps to herself hidden well beneath her proud and beautiful exterior.

Biography: Born the only daughter of Mikhael Valenti Lasonovich, an adventurer from Earth and Palas, a Free Woman of Thenthis, she was spoiled from an early age by a doting father and a proud mother.  She has two older brothers who serve in the army of Ko-Ro-Ba, both of whom are fiercely protective of her.  As a native of Earth, her father was abnormally devoted to his wife and took nothing but slave girls in the years since Palas died.

After her mother died in a plague she became the mistress of the household in charge of entertaining and all of the domestic slaves.  She gained a reputation as a sharp tongued and demanding mistress as she dedicated herself to making her father proud.  Lisah rules the houshold with an iron rod and her sharp wits as even the pleasure slaves bow to her will in domestic matters.

Being raised in a household of warriors and men of importance, Lisah took to learning what was allowed of swimming, running, fighting and arts that might be considered manly.  Her father was an important member of the council and was able to quell any scandal associated with his daughter.  Regardless, Lisah threw herself into training with a ferocity not normally seen in even a Free Woman until many whispered that she was a warrior reincarnated into the body of a woman as a punishment.  Lisah disregarded such whispers with disdain and continued her own course, secure in the support of her family.

A willful student as well, Lisah's knowledge of both Gor and the Earth is broad but oddly scattered as she studied those things that interested her and discarded those that did not.  Her father secretly taught her the lore and tongues of his home world while more traditional tutors struggled to teach her the basics of Counter Earth.  Still, and at her father's rare insistence she is skilled in dance, music and many of the household arts so that she might 'make a good partner to some warrior'.  Lisah has so far spurned many an offer for one reason or another and frightened off others by her reputation for willfulness and a sharp tongue.

She lives in her father's household in her own set of apartments.  She has never taken a lover, finding none who impressed her so she remains a virgin.  Currently she is happily running her father's household and attending social events in the city state.  The rash of disappearances has her worried as her father has shared with her much that is unknown to the public.  She had badgered him about allowing her to help investigate at least at the scenes of the happenings to no avail as of yet...

In public she flaunts her Free Status and the beauty of her body.  Yet she is ever careful and is always escorted by one or both of her brothers or one of her father's burly and well trained guardsmen.  She is armed with a pair of daggers as well as a smaller pin in her bodice.

Weapons and Equipment: Daggers, fine clothing

Okay, looks good helvorn. I'm going to try and get the IC thread up and running today, but I'm not feeling well at the moment so it might not be up until sometime tonight or tomorrow at the very latest. I'll post a link once everything is ready to go.

Umm, I'm not actually using either of those systems. I'd like to keep things mostly freeform, the only exception is the dueling and capturing which I've somewhat based on a few homemade forum systems I've come across (which may be based on what you're thinking of...I don't know) but long story short there aren't any real "career" skills or anything like that. As long as someone acts within realistic boundaries of what their characters would likely know given their place in society (Caste, gender etc...) then I'm good with it. Either way, feel free to drop by any time you like and post a character sheet.

I'm glad she passes muster.  I'm not as familiar with the details of Gor as I would like so I was worried about getting something really, really wrong.  She'll be good as an independent FW or as someone to track down and capture either as a concubine or a slave.  :)

Take your time Athos and rest.  Health is more important!

Athos, someone acting within the realistic boundaries of what their characters would likely know given their place in society (Caste, gender etc...) is a by-the-book definition for a Career skill ;D!
Either way, let's not hijack the thread. As pointed above, I might send you a character at some point in the future, but that depends on too many factors, most of which simply aren't game-related 8-).

All I'm saying is that there isn't some big list of skills somewhere and there aren't any ratings in them being used at this point. Like I said in my PM to you, feel free to post a character any time. :)

EDIT: Alright guys, I've just created the IC thread which can be found here: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=155015.0
