Awaken Online

Hiroshi Game Studios, the leading developer in advanced Virtual Reality Immersion has just released a revolutionary new game in to the world wide market. Allowing players to fully link their minds in to a vast, multi-tier world of Awaken Online. A world consisting of 100 floors, some of which are as vast as a continent, or as small as a city. With their own aesthetics, unique powers, quests, enemies, allies, and more! Hiroshi Game Studios developed Awaken Online to appeal primarily to manga and anime fans. Every in-game floor has been painstakingly created to perfectly represent a different anime universe. Populating each with rich and iconic characters for players to interact with, learn from, help, or fight. Every player is able to customize their own character with powers which will make them part of their favorite anime. From the biggest Gundams, to the most flashy energy blast, or the most dazzling martial arts! All and more are possible inside the world of Awaken Online.

The game was set to be the biggest video game release of all time. However, a single day before it's official release, a retailer began to sell copies of the title early. Roughly 10,000 players around the world got their hands on a copy and managed to log in a few hours early. After a brief time spent in their imagination wonder-land players discovered that they had been trapped. Nobody was able to log out, or exit the game. Suddenly players ability to communicate with the outside world had been totally cut off, limited completely to the in-game messaging client which only allowed players to chat with each other. Suddenly, a figure descended from the clouds. It’s sheer size and presence blocking out the sun, casting the terrified and confused players in to his shadow. It's identity was shrouded in a green robe, but the god-like entity spoke. Revealing to the players that it was The Storyteller, master of Awaken Online. The only way out was to beat the game. To progress through all 100 Floors and obtain the prize waiting for them. If they were killed in game the VR headset would kill them out in the real world.

In the first week over 2,000 players died. Either while learning the basic mechanics of the game, suicide, or error on the part of the people outside of the game world. Awaken Online is nearing the one month anniversary of taking the players hostage. A group has finally made it to the boss of the first floor. Ready to win, to take back their lives, and to beat the game.

Welcome everyone! This game is a anime fandom based adventure set in a world which follows the same concept of Sword Art Online. Each player that purchased Awaken Online before it's official launch has become trapped. They have learned that if they are killed in Awaken Online, they will die in the real world. Each of the 100 floors that make up Awaken Online's world imitates all of, or a portion of a famous anime. Floor #5 may be the western world of Trigun, or the Bleach universe locations of Soul Society and Hueco Mundo.

This RP will focus on group of players and their progress towards defeating Awaken Online. We will have Story Threads which I will use to GM the players through the different floors and big fights, as well as some sandbox Side Quest threads (which players can feel free to create and GM their own side stories) that allow players to explore their favorite floors further and gain more power! We will unlock, earn, or upgrade equipment and abilities as a result of defeating iconic foes or completing quests for iconic heroes.

We may do small time skips here and there since it would take forever to play all 100 floors! If this game picks up steam I am sure we may eventually start incorporating things like Guilds, player housing, and anything else you guys want to have included in AO.

If you are interested in joining please either comment here or PM me!

The Floors

Every floor is meant to perfectly represent a canon anime universe. Which could be awesome, or awful depending. Every floor has a “boss”, but not every floor has a dungeon which leads up to their boss. Players may have to complete a series of quests to unlock the boss, obtain some artifact, or maybe the boss is standing out in the open right from the get go and is just too strong to challenge safely!

Awaken Online NPCs are made up of canon characters, and thousands of new original characters to make each floor feel more alive. You may ask, do these floors follow the events of what happened in their anime? Are these floors “up to date” with the latest events of the show? Do these floors imitate the entire world, or just a portion of it?

The NPCs and their memories will be handled on a case by case basis. I am not creating a hard and fast rule here otherwise it would make the floors predictable! Similarly, NPCs of one universe will not all be located on that floor, or have just the powers depicted in their anime! You may encounter Spike Spiegel on the Black Lagoon floor. Or fight Ryuk from Deathnote on the Hellsing floor. A lot of floors and what is going on in them may be totally different from the events of their show, making them totally non-canon. Or the events on the floor could be locked at a specific point in the show. For instance, we may show up on the DBZ floor and find ourselves on Namek at the beginning of the Frieza Arc. Or we may arrive on the Vampire Hunter D floor and encounter a story totally different from anything stated in those movies.

Character Creation

When creating their characters every player was allowed to make their own body avatar (or import their regular body) and input 1 anime universe, their favorite from a TV show or movie, to represent their in game aesthetic and power set. Maybe a player wanted to be a cyborg cop from Ghost in the Shell, or a ninja from Naruto. Players were challenged with creating their own original character whose powers are based from their favorite anime world!

Class Breakdown

Next, players were prompted to select their starting class. These classes are based on the Fate Stay Night servant system – Archer, Saber, Lancer, Caster, Berserker, Rider, and Assassin.

Archer – Players in this class excel as highly effective scouts and range fighters, with powerful projectile weapons or special abilities related to projectile weapons.

Saber – For standard players, the Saber class is considered the most “solid” of the 8 classes. They will generally have an advantage in close range combat. The main weakness of this class is the straight forward nature of their playstyle.

Lancer – The Lancer class is most proficient with long range melee weapon, balancing a mixture of speed, strength and agility to defeat their opponents with hit and run tactics

Caster – Caster class users are usually adept in magecraft, sorcery, summoning and everything in between. Generally though they are weak in direct combat

Berserker – The Berserker class power set focuses on resilience, toughness, crushing their opponents with brute force. Players with this class usually possess a “rage” form or mechanic associated with their character, or are generally players who tend to go berserk. The main weakness of this class is Berserker class users is an inability to sustain their power over a prolonged fight, and when tapping in to their full potential, they often cannot distinguish friend from foe

Rider – This is also referred to as the “Mount Class”. Players in this class are known for riding mounts, whether living beasts or human constructs. A Rider is most effective in combat while mounted, and generally speaking has few weaknesses if they are. The main downside of this class is that a Rider is by far the weakest class if a Rider is forced to battle without his mount

Assassin – Players of this class are skilled at operating covertly, silently, and combating their opponents with the use of stealth and single life-ending strikes. They are, true to the title, assassins. However, this class is weaker in a direct confrontation with the enemy focused on attacking the Assassin

Master - * new class * This is a totally new class created by Hiroshi Games, separate from the Fate Stay Night core classes. Unlike the other classes, when this one is selected a player will actually select a canon anime character.. That character becomes their Servant. Leaving the player as the Master. This servant has a personality of their own (mirroring their personality in their show/movie), and will provide insight, advice, and do everything they can to protect their Master.  The strength of this class is the Master does not need to put themselves directly in harms way, and if a Servant is killed in battle they may be re-summoned. However, Servants are generally less powerful then other class player-characters. This class will require the role-player to RP as two characters at once. Servants will not start with a Noble Phantasm

Keep in mind! Just because you are a Saber does not mean you cannot have magic abilities. Also, just because you are Caster does not meant that you cannot have melee abilities. The outlines above just indicate where your character will be most effective in combat. These classes are meant to help give the roleplayer a solid archetype direction, help define their initial power set, strengths/weaknesses, as well as create diversity in the RP group.

Eventually players will unlock Advanced Classes!

Combat and Game

For now there will not be a stat system in the game. But since this setting is literally a video game there will be game-y elements. These will come through in things like seasonal events! Seasonal rewards for unusual quests. Players still have a in-game user interface where they can access their equipment, send private messages to other players, receive quest pop ups, unlock Advanced Classes, roll for loot, and more! Please feel free to suggest anything that you would like to see added to this.

Awaken Online's difficulty will increase steadily between each floor. However, every 10th floor will be considered a “Mega Floor”, which will be more challenging by a good degree than any of the previous ones. This will create situations eventually where the AO players will become more hesitant to move on, or find themselves incapable of defeating the floor with the same speed as those before it.

I use the same system for combat in the previous games that I have run, and it seems to be successful. Players will post what they do during their turn in the fight. They will describe visually what it looks like, clearly indicate any special powers used or tactical plan they are setting up, and even suggest what outcome their character is expecting to happen. Then, after all players have posted, I will make a GM post that tells everyone what the result was of their attacks. Then I will write for the enemies, give players a chance to defend themselves and attack again. Back and forth we go until someone dies!

Progression System

I want players to feel like they are getting stronger as they continue to RP! This system is still a WIP, but the high level explanation right now is players will be able to create new abilities from their canon universe, or increase the strength of existing ones abilities they already have. A player could also choose to adopt a new power from the universe of a defeated floor.

Once again, these abilities you invent when you earn them, and the abilities you start with will not be based on stats! Upgrading your character is meant to only be limited by your imagination, pending that it follows the previously mentioned rules. A Naruto character could choose to invent their own bloodline techniques, or get themselves a fancy new Zanpakuto from the Bleach universe a few floors back.

GM Reminders

Anime characters and their universe have vastly different power scales! Some can destroy worlds (DBZ), some are just really awesome regular people (Cowboy Bebop). A character who chooses to play a DBZ power set will probably start with energy blast type abilities, whereas someone who chooses to play a Cowboy Bebop power set may just be a roguish fighter with a gun. This does not mean that a DBZ characters blast do more damage then a Cowboy Bebop characters gun! Every player has a unseen level in Awaken Online which influences their damage, speed, power, etc. This level is increased through quest completion, combat, and non-combat experiences.

Sex and smut between characters is totally allowed, and even encouraged since it is a big part of playing on Elliquiy. Players can feel free to include this in their own side quest adventures, make their own X rated threads, or just RP through PM. Whatever your preference!

This is a big one – I have seen a lot of anime, but I have not seen anywhere near all of what is out there. I have focused primarily on the main stream shows and movies, catching some of the more obscure stuff here and there. I will do my best to represent these floors well but I will make mistakes! Please do not get upset with continuity errors or errors in how I represent a character or anime.

This game is about combat, adventure, and survival. I am not going to make a rule saying you have to select a “combat anime” universe, everyone is open to select whatever universe they want if they can justify a power set out of it. However, I would not recommend selecting a universe that won't make it easy for you to think up cool powers and abilities.

While the ultimate goal of the game is to “get out” of Awaken Online, the real world will not be a focus of the game. Similarly, who your characters were before entering this game will not be a story focus of the game. Players can choose to RP details about who they are in the real world as much or as little as they want.

I try to actively edit the structure and “features” inside of my RPs as it goes to keep it fun, interesting, and balanced! The game will always be a WIP. Please send me any ideas that you have and would like to see incorporated in to Awaken Online.

Feel free to edit this character sheet form as much as you like!

Name – Your name here
Anime Origin – This is the universe you selected right off the bat which determined your characters first set of gear (your aesthetic)
Class -

[float=right][/float] – This is not required. If you can find a picture you like to represent the look of your character, please place that here. If not, a flavor image would be great too!

Appearance/Style Description – Your character is a OC, so what does your character look like? DO NOT indicate whether you created a unique avatar, or imported your real body. This will remain a mystery that players can choose to divulge through RP if they want.

Personality – What is your character like? Is he a lone wolf sort, or a team player?

Backstory – What I am primarily looking for in this is what your character has been doing over the last month. How have they handled being trapped in this world. You do not need to include your “real world” backstory if you do not want to.

Powers/Equipment – This is intentionally a little open ended. Please briefly describe your normal abilities and/or equipment, as well as any special abilities that your character has. Try to keep your number of special abilities in the 2-3 range. Remember, you are still considered a “starting character” in this world. They would not be world breaking powers at this point.

Strengths – What does your character consider to be their strengths? Maximum of 3

Weaknesses – What does your character consider to be their weaknesses? Note, these may not include Class weaknesses. Minimum of 2

Hexed

This sounds pretty bloody neat.

I know you said no world breaking powers but questions!

Would you consider flight overboard at the start?  The mages from Saga of Tanya the Evil basically have three items/powers. Flight/Shields/Gun(Attack spells).

From the sounds of it once a character has started you've no problems with them picking up abilities/gear from other anime correct?

How much... effect will classes have? Can you eventually take more then one?  Will there be restrictions based on class (Such as non-caster classes only able to learn basic magics)?

BruceTheCat

Great to see your interest Hexed!

I would not consider flight to be overboard at the start. By world breaking powers I am more referring to ultimate attacks that blow up entire planets from DBZ. Basically any power that has the potential to blow up an entire city would be off limits at the start of the game.

That is correct! After the start of the game players will be able to pick up abilities/gear from other anime. For example, lets say you complete a quest on the Kill la Kill floor which required you to defeat some student council member, and obtain their uniform. Your quest reward could be a Secret Technique scroll from Naruto. I want to try and mix things up so that players are not only limited to powers from their own anime, quest rewards that are specific to the floor they are on, etc. When you get stronger and I give you the ability to design your own new power you can also create a new power from any universe we have already defeated. Using the same example, if we beat the Kill la Kill floor and you get a chance to design a new power, you could make something that would only be accessible in the Kill la Kill universe.

Classes will have a medium to heavy effect on combat. Primarily they are there to help me balance fights. There will be no power restrictions based on class. Every class can ride mounts, do melee combat, cast spells, etc. But they will be most effective fighting the way their class dictates.

To some degree I will have to feel this out after the game begins, but I think its going to work well. Eventually we will unlock Advanced Classes where players will be able to be a Lancer/Caster combo, or become a more specialized or unique Assassin, etc. I want players to be able to invent their own Advanced Classes as well!

Let me know if that explanation helps!

This got my interest. I would like to know the scope of what shows will characters be coming from, and what are your thoughts on certain live action series (such as Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman).

Leki

I'm going to admit, I'm a bit cautiously inclined at the moment.
The idea seems fun and all, but I'm wondering how people will deal with anime/worlds they're not familiar with.

For example I've heard quite a few people tell me Hellsing is great...
But I've never really gotten around to it myself, and while I wouldn't mind looking a bit up to blend in.
Doing so for a slew of other series would get pretty tedious, pretty quickly.
So yeah, would we be permitted to skip/avoid those floors? Would we be forced to readup, or... [other options]

BruceTheCat

QuoteThis got my interest. I would like to know the scope of what shows will characters be coming from, and what are your thoughts on certain live action series (such as Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman).

For now no, those would not be applicable because they are not animated.  I may change my mind on this later down the line once the game has picked up a bit.

QuoteThis got my interest. I would like to know the scope of what shows will characters be coming from, and what are your thoughts on certain live action series (such as Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman).

Unfortunately no. While I will try to make sure that Floors appeal to every player, it's unavoidable that some players will not be familiar with an anime world that is the temporary focus of the main story. You don't need to go watch the anime to understand what is going on for the in-game story. Just to understand who the characters are and what powers to expect from the NPCs and enemies.

Will have to look to see what's this is about.

Tentative interest for now though. :D

BruceTheCat

Hey there Mac! Great to see you too! I’m back on E and wanting to run a group game if there is interest

Regarding your question Callie, I don’t think that you need to watch Sword Art Online to follow the concept of this game. I *think* my explanation was all the info you will need

List of potential Animes...

Super Dimensional Fortress Macross

Space Battleship Yamato (2199-2202)

Mobile Suit Gundam

Godzilla (Yes, toho just released an Anime version of my favorite Kaiju) (Totally Berserker in this!)

Trigun (Over the top western gun slinging? HELL YEAH~)

I have a couple of questions though. For the "Master Class" If I chose someone like Bruno Global/Jack Wild (SDF Macross/Frontier) Would they have access to their respective ships? I.E. Being able to call down an orbital/Air Strike from their respective Fortresses. This would include Junzo Okita, and the Yamato.

Or if I use Char Azanble, or Norris Packard. Will they have access to their mobile suits?

Also, if a player chooses an Anime where mecha combat is very prevalent like Full Metal Panic, Macross, Gundam, etc. Will the player have access to a mecha from that universe, possibly not a "Hero Mecha" Like the Gundam, Arbalest, or Skull One. But like a production Suit like a Zaku II, or VF-1A Valkyrie.

BruceTheCat

When it comes to mecha suits most of the characters in that genre I imagine would fit in to the Rider class. IE, their mobile suit is their mount. The Master class follows a similar logic in that the associated Servant would lean towards one class or another, which would probably make the servant lean towards he Rider class as well.

Yes! You will be able to get powers that let you call down air strikes and such, but these will be treated more like summons from Final Fantasy, which pop in, do their thing, then pop out. As opposed to it actually being there all the time.

Let me know if that helps!

Mac84

Actually I as thinking along the same lines. Orbital Strikes, and the like would fall under "Special Abilities", or Noble Phantasms as it were.

Though would there be Bonuses for playing on/in your territory?

IE. If your character's canon anime is DBZ, would he get a bonus for any quests played on the DBZ floor?

AndyZ

Is this going to be original characters or canon characters?

Good question! No, you would not get an innate bonus while in the Universe of your origin. Though you may unlock a special quest which gives you access to a unique Advanced Class!

QuoteIs this going to be original characters or canon characters?

Everyone will be rolling up their own original character, with a powerset that comes from a anime universe of their choosing. The only exception to this is those players who selected the Master Class! If you do you will still create a OC, but you will also be choosing and making a sheet for your Servant, who is a canon character.

Understood. We'll keep to the more familiar series then. Which ones do you have in mind at the moment, or will we end up listing what anime we're familiar with?

:)

Edit: May end up picking something from a Shonen Jump series. Maybe Shaman King, or even Yugioh (which would mostly function well as a mage class)? Still need a better gauge of overall lineup to figure things out.

BruceTheCat

I'm still debating on the location for the very first Floor (which all of you would be aware of when we start the game) but after that I was going to let players either:

A) Want the floors to remain a secret so that it can be a new reveal thing each time we complete a floor, or
B) Get to choose what the Floor is OOC before we get to it
“Also I've seen that movie, if they're any similar to it, then those guns do not fuck around, please take cover“

I'd go with A, seeing how the characters wouldn't really know what to expect until they get there.

As for the series to choose from, currently thinking from the following:

 • Naruto
 • One Piece
 • Busou Renkin
 • Katekyo Hitman Reborn
 • My Hero Academia
 • Shaman King

I may have forgotten other series from Shonen Jump, not counting other anime series that I have not mentioned.

A) Want the floors to remain a secret so that it can be a new reveal thing each time we complete a floor, or

To be honest, I like "A" more, and it would be truer to a Video Game setting. Making each new floor a surprise for the group. Somethings it is to your advantage, sometimes it ain't.

Though for the Side Quests, and Player Ran Side Areas could be discussed in the OOC.

As for Anime Series. Would our Characters be limited to One Specific Series, or The Franchise?

What I mean is that there are several long lasting franchises out. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Gundam, and Yamato to name a few. So if I chose a Character from the SDF: Macross verse. Would they have access to all the Tech/goodies from the Franchise, or only from a specific series like Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Macross Frontier, Macross 7, macross +

Also, how would one balance Power between players? Depending on which universe the player chooses, they can either be far more "Effective" or putting themselves at a severe disadvantage throughout the game. IE: If someone chose power/skill set of the DBZ universe they could easily rank up to be able to fly, shoot Ki energy from their hands, and destroy planets. Granted they have to scream at the top of their lungs for a week or two before they can do that, but still. Versus someone from like Cowboy Bebop, or Black Lagoon where there are no over the top super powers?

BruceTheCat

Players can choose to give henselves acces to the entire franchise if they want.

Regarding balancing and different character powers, I will be keeping the effect of player abilities on a relatively similar power scale. Even though aesthetically a ki blast is far more epic, in the interest of balance it won’t be hitting harder than a Black Lagoon characters sniper rifle.

Players who come from a series (like Black Lagoom) where there is not a lot of growth room can feel free to stick with their universe when inventing new powers, or start taking some from conquered Floors

Mac84

Wouldn't the Character name be the Player's name, or would it be the handle the Player uses in Game?

IE. While my Player name would be Mac84, my character's hand could be Jeremy Black?

Attempt at Character creation! XD
These are only sample characters.

Player's Handle – Mac84
Character Name - Jeremy Black
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
Rider

Appearance/Style Description – Jeremy's style is more relaxed utilitarian. Being a Rider he is responsible for maintaining his mount.

Personality – Is a friendly person that likes to help others, and often throws himself into danger to protect those around him. Works well with a team.

Backstory – The Player known as Jeremy Black, upon discovering that he was trapped in the game, quickly sought to gather those that could help him beat the game. Though that was not his only objective. He understood that many of the other players would not be up for the hardship that they would face. Having experience with MMO's before, he tried to organize a small army in order to maximize players chances of survival, and getting everyone out. Sadly it did not go as planned. Infighting, Backstabbing, and outside interference caused the group to collapse from the inside. Leaving only Jeremy pretty much to fend for himself in an Ambush that he barely escaped out alive. Jeremy still wants to help people, and free everyone from the Game. However, he is aware enough that he can't do it on his own.

Powers/Equipment – As a Rider, Jeremy has a "Mount" derived from the Macross universe. A VF-25S "Messiah", (I am entertaining using a VB-06 Koenig Monster instead, but that would pretty much relegate him to a "Support" role.) Some other ideas for Mounts are the YF-21, and YF-19

Strengths – Military Prowess, Positive attitude, Kindness.

I should probably slip away from this.  I've never even heard of half of these.

Hope the game goes awesome for you, though ^_^

I have to say this looks very interesting.  Actually ironically  I am in the middle of Sword art online watching through it for the second time.  I am going to throw in my interest but I am going to have to think on the character.  Way to many option my brain is already going on overload.

Would Erza Scarlet of Fairy Tail be a Saber class or Caster?
In my opinion, Erza would be closer to a Saber class. Her magic allows her to change up her fighting style and acts to augment her fighting abilities rather than doing anything direct.

I have not seen Fairy Tale but I went ahead and watched some Youtube videos of her in action. I would agree with Steir's assessment. She is a Saber class fighter who uses magic to augment her melee combat.

Also, her fight scenes are awesome. I may need to watch this show now!

The 'Name' section of the sheet would be for your character. In this case Jeremy Black.

The sheet is looking good so far, Mac! I'm actually more excited now because my initial character idea was for a Rider class who borrowed powers from the Gurren Lagaan universe. But this lets me brainstorm a different idea!

Feel free to edit this character sheet form as much as you like!

Name – Akiko Yukiji
Anime Origin – Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Class - Assassin

– (WIP, Imma have to draw these)

Appearance/Style Description – Akiko has bold features, and tends to dress rather loudly in a sort of neo-hippy aesthetic, complete with a few old bits of jewelry like large, heart shaped earrings, some bangles, and a broach with the figure of a white dove against a psychedelic background.  She also carries a large pair of leopard printed headphones.  Underneath this exterior, she wears a pair of black tights stitched skillfully with non-lustrous metal, and keeps a black mask and cowl tucked under her shirt.  In effect, she can drop the hippy garb and go ninja in needed.

While Akiko is professional, astute and a bit reclusive normally, she has a more ostentatious demeanor that seems to come out whenever Pour Some Sugar is active, prompting her to pose flamboyantly.

Personality – While Akiko is fairly straightforward and personable in a professional setting, she's actually a bit reclusive.  She enjoys history, collecting old objects like coins, and generally keeps to herself.  This isn't to say that she's shy, but that she simply doesn't seem to have much patience for people, preferring to nip drama in the bud by simply doing things herself.  Video games were simply another part of this.

She seems to have a second layer, however, which is more flamboyant and fun loving.  This seems to be related to when her Stand, Pour Some Sugar, is active.  It may be that this is her true self, or it may be a side effect of picking a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Character.

Backstory – Being trapped in the world here has been relatively easy for her, due to the utility of her skill-set.   She's made a good business for herself as an appraiser and antique salesman, able to identify strange items even better than some of the local lore-mongers.  And she's even made a bit of a reputation for herself as someone who can find leads in quests, making her valuable as a party member.  All of this has allowed her to continue a professional, privately reclusive life-style with some measure of success.  Of course, this has come with a few problems, such as getting stuck with useless or nigh suicidal parties, getting into trouble when payment for her services is due, and the fact that she misses her collections in the real world.

Powers/Equipment – Akiko makes quite a living as an item appraiser, but she has no compunctions about being a little dishonest when she finds something that could be truly valuable to her.  As such, she's managed to get her hands on some suitably sneaky light armor, a powerful pair of blades, and a very accurate, silent ranged weapon.

Special Abilities - Stand User

All of Akiko's special abilities come from her status as a Stand User, or a being capable of projecting a spiritual manifestation of their will and psyche that draws out special abilities.  Her Stand's name is Pour Some Sugar.

  1) Pour Some Sugar allows her to talk to / listen to any man-made object.  The older an object is, the more coherent and vibrant that object is when communicating.  The drawback is that this power is always on, which sometimes is extremely annoying.  She's taken steps to muffle the noise.

  2) Pour Some Sugar allows her to sometimes persuade man-made objects to act in usual ways.  For example, asking a dented suit of armor to repair itself, or asking an enemy sword not to hit her.  Again, the older an object is, the more likely she'll be able to persuade it.  She's never successfully persuaded anything that was 'younger' than 3 years old.

  3) Pour Some Sugar is able to manifest itself as a lithe, floating humanoid shade.  It is capable of attacking enemies within a 30 foot range, primarily using its fists and legs.  Any damage Pour Some Sugar suffers is damage that Akiko herself suffers, as the two bodies are perfectly linked in that regard.  However, Pour Some Sugar is capable of moving silently, grasping weapons, scouting an area, and vanishing on command when she has line-of-sight.  It makes her a hell of an Assassin.  Sadly, Pour Some Sugar's range is pretty short, and the Stand itself cannot talk to or listen to objects while away from her.

Strengths –
1) Professional: Akiko gets the job done.  She has little patience for people that muck up the works with silly mistakes, and would much rather do a job alone and with precision, where possible.
2) Historian: Akiko knows things.  In fact, it's because she loves knowing things about the past so much that allows her to do what she does.  She often is surprisingly well informed, and has a good memory for such things.
3) Bold: When Pour Some Sugar is out, Akiko is courageous, bold, and flamboyant.  It often has the right effect on the right people.

Weaknesses –
1) Reclusive: Akiko prefers the company of objects to people.  She has little patience with humanity, and gets snippy and even petty sometimes if people don't at least do what they are supposed to do.
2) Drown Out The Noise: The fact that objects are always talking forces her to listen to music to distract herself, or go into natural settings where there are no man-made objects to get away from it.  Conversely, she is more comfortable in a room with antiques than anywhere else.
3) Loves Body Builders: Perhaps she even chose Jojo because she likes ripped men in loud, nigh-erotic poses.  But she can't help having a weakness for muscle heads in hot positions.
4) Assassin Class: Akiko is useful in a party, but she's not going to break any records in a fight.

Regarding magical girls I would say the answer is... probably? For the most part I remember them using a lot of spell type magic and summing effects. As opposed to fighting their enemies in melee combat.

But I could be easily persuaded with a YouTube video or something that contradicts how I remember those shows

Finalized Character Sheet! XD

I opted to go with the Macross Verse as I'm far more familiar with it than Gundam. And I think the Valkyries are just a bit more versatile than a Mobile suit. Though the Gouf Custom is still one of the most badass Mobile suits! As demonstrated here

Character Name - Jeremy Black
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
Rider

Appearance/Style Description – Jeremy's personal style is is more relaxed and ultiliarian as he is expected to take care of his mount. Though when he is piloting, he has a special suit he wears to negate the effects of inertia, and G-Forces that would normally crush a human body by the tremendous maneuverability of the VF-25S, particularly when he has one of the Supplemental Packs attached. Jeremy's body type can be described as barrel chested. His face with about a months worth of beard growth.

Personality – Is a friendly person that likes to help others, and often throws himself into danger to protect those around him. Works well with a team. Enjoys various types of music, often lounging on the wing of his Mount with a the Radio playing custom play lists from the Macross Franchise.

Backstory – The Player known as Jeremy Black, upon discovering that he was trapped in the game, quickly sought to gather those that could help him beat the game to free everyone. Though that was not his only objective. He understood that many of the other players would not be up for the hardship that they would face as most MMOs were not kind to "Casual Players". Having experience with MMO's before, he tried to organize a small army in order to maximize players chances of survival, and getting everyone out. Including training up those that were not as MMO Savvy. Sadly it did not go as planned. Infighting, Backstabbing, and outside interference caused the group to collapse from the inside. Leaving only Jeremy pretty much to fend for himself in an Ambush in the lower floors that he barely escaped out alive. Jeremy still wants to help people, and free everyone from the Game. However, he is aware enough that he can't do it on his own.

Powers/Equipment – As a Rider, Jeremy has a "Mount" derived from the Macross universe. A VF-25S "Messiah". While he may not have much in the way of super powers. His "Mount" more than makes up for this with its supplemental equipment. He has access to a Super pack, An Armor Pack, and A "Tornado Pack"

Strengths – There is hints that Jeremy Black may have/is currently a Fighter Pilot in real life as he understands military tactics involving Aircraft, Calm in a crisis, Music (Upon hearing certain genre's of music can boost Jeremy's abilites for the duration of the song, particular if sung by an popular Idol

Weaknesses – A bit awkward around the Ladies, Can get in over his head at times/Tries to take on more than he can chew, a bit on the lazy side, Pineapple Salad (Macross fans will get this. :P)

One idea I had was that every so many floors, There is a "Safe Floor/town" where Players don't have to worry about getting attacked, at least by in game elements, and can restock without having to go all the way back down to the first floor.

Though the higher you go up the Floors, the further and further apart the "Safe Floors" Become.

Like the first floor is safe, and is the "Beginning" town for the Adventures. Kinda think like Konasuba. Then the next safe floor would be the Fifth Floor. Then the next Safe floor may be the 13th.

Each Safe Floor could be a Town that is reflective of a specific Anime. Maybe it is a hint to what the next floor is. Perhaps it is an extension of the previous floor.

The Safe Floors are connected via transport Pads that can send Players between the safe Floors for various reasons. However, A safe floor must be "Discovered" by a player first, and that player must activate the transport pad. Otherwise other players cant transport to that safe floor.

Each Safe Floor is populated by NPCs, and NPC Merchants that allow Players to restock on items they need to progress further. As well as "Smith's,", and Armorers" To improve equipment. Yet these items won't be as powerful as Items crafted by Players. Players may also decide to Set up shop in these towns to sell their crafts to other players for the Game's currency. By "PLayer" I'm referring to the generic people trapped in the game rather than actual Players of the Game, us.

WHat does everyone think on of this idea?

Well, if you’re not going to rep the Super Robot Army, someone needs to!

Name - Vandal Black
Anime Origin - Getter Robo
Class - Rider

Appearance
Vandal is a big guy for a pilot, standing 6'7" with a cut physique that would look more at home on a professional wrestler.  Out in the field, he can usually be found wearing a jet black bodysuit with armored segments built into it, designed to put pressure on the body and prevent its pilot from blacking out in high-G maneuvers.  He keeps the sides of his head shaved close, the remaining stripe of his black hair falling forward.  Narrow eyes often make him look pensive or brooding when he's on his own, but when with others he seems more at ease.  In social instances, he wears a racing jacket over more casual clothes.

Personality
Vandal is a boisterous, earnest kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and won’t hesitate to speak his mind.  Rather than cursing his circumstances or wasting energy hating NPC’s, he lays every death directly at Storyteller’s feet, and has every intention of paying him back for every ounce of misery once he’s flushed out of hiding.  Fortunately, Vandal gets along well with most players, seeing them as comrades in arms striving against the same odds.  He trusts quickly, but is slow to let go of a slight, which can get him in trouble as he tends to express himself physically.

Of course, his expressiveness means that he has a lousy poker face.  People who’ve grouped with him before have noticed that he’s kind of awkward with women.  Not flustered, exactly, but more like he’s not sure how to approach them.  It’s made him a favorite target of some female players who delight in watching such a big man squirm.

Background:
The way Vandal tells it, he isn’t much of an anime fan, which makes him a bit of an anomaly among those trapped in Awaken Online.  His friends, however, roped him in to be the third of their Getter Team.  It was a quirk of fortune that allowed him to pick up an early copy, and since he and his friends had intended to share a Mount he decided to go ahead and level it up in preparation for the full launch so they could skip the crowded starting zones.  Now he’s trapped in Aincrad, doing the best he can with only a third of his strength.

Since becoming trapped in Awaken Online, Vandal has mostly been one of the more active players, grinding up trash mobs and acting as an escort for lower leveled characters in exchange for coin.  He’s also spent time Dueling with other players around the back of the starting town, and taking a cut of the gambling money generated as winnings.  Despite his efforts and the meager wealth he’s managed to accrue, he’s spent surprisingly little, getting by on equipment drops and quest rewards.  When asked what he’s saving up for, he says there’s something he needs from the Cash Shop, but the conversion between game currency and real world money is lousy.

In quiet moments, Vandal has been found lying atop the roofs of buildings at night, looking up at the moon and solemnly reaching out to it.  He’s convinced the devs have the Black Getter up there, the only solo-pilot oriented Getter machine, but he hasn’t figured out how to reach it yet.

Powers/Equipment
Mount – Neo Getter Robo:  Designed by Hayato Jin after Getter Ray research was banned by the Japanese Government, Neo Getter Robo uses an alternative plasma-based energy source.  Neo Getter Robo is a fifty meter tall Super Robot comprised of three aircraft that can dock with each other in different configurations to create specialized fighting forms.  Unfortunately for Vandal, he has no copilots, which locks out the “Open Gate” command.  For the time being, he focuses on the land-combat specialist Neo Getter-1, which has the following armaments:
Shoulder Rockets:  An attack for those pesky long distance foes, the Neo Getter-1 leans forward and launches a pair of explosive missiles from its backpack.
Chain Fist:  A twist on an old classic, the Chain Fist is a rocket punch that can be launched out to medium range.  Unlike the Mazinger clan’s iconic attack, however, the Chain Fist has an anchor chair that stretches back to the launching arm.  The pilot of Neo Getter-1 can use this to pull enemies into close range where it excels, or swing the fist around at the end of its chain like a flail as necessary.
Plasma Thunder:  Neo Getter-1’s finishing attack, the mecha reaches overhead and channels lightning between its hands, building up a charge that soon becomes a crackling lightning javelin.  Though it takes a lot of energy, when thrown the Plasma Thunder attack does heavy damage.

Hot Blooded:  A classic for Super Robot Pilots of all stripes, when the pressure’s on the character only gets more fired up!  Parameters increase as HP decreases, allowing for the last-second come backs and clutch saves so often required for saving the world.

Chosen by the Getter Rays:  A passive skill possessed by all Getter pilots.  Already chosen for their exceptional qualities, exposure to Getter Radiation makes the pilots something more than strictly human.  Those who are Chosen by the Getter Rays stats are not as badly reduced as other Riders when away from their Mount, and they can withstand the gravitational forces of extreme acceleration better than normal humans.  This skill is a prerequisite for other Getter Pilot skills such as Hearts Beating As One, Lost to Getter Radiation, and Master the Getter Rays.  It can only be taken by Human characters.

Strengths
Guts!:  Vandal isn’t the sort to back away from a fight, which is exactly why he’s in the party to defeat the 1rst Level Boss.  He’s the kind of person who’d sneer at the gates of hell, the sort who finds a way to fight even when their body is broken, and the type who’ll shoulder impossible odds without complaint.  If he was simply reckless, he’d be dead a hundred times over by now, no, it’s just that his grit allows him to press on where most would falter.
In Sync:  Vandal hasn’t got much of a head for tactics, but he’s no lone wolf either.  He didn’t pick a Getter character for nothing, he has a good sense of his partners’ needs on the battlefield.  Whether it’s guarding a blind spot or creating an opening in an enemy’s defenses, Vandal is at his best when fighting with a team.
Powerhouse:  The Getter Robo isn’t just for show, its massive size allows it to strike with incredible force, staggering foes and crushing armor with each blow.  This creates a kind of “soft control”, making it difficult for enemies to counter-attack when in close, which is necessary as the Neo Getter Robo isn’t particularly tough.  Sustained ranged attacks are easily the Neo Getter-1’s biggest weakness.

Weaknesses
Stubborn:  Of course, the other side of Vandal’s guts is that sometimes he doesn’t withdraw when he really should.  He doesn’t fight with his head so much as he follows his feelings without regret, and it can be difficult to sway him once he’s set on a course.
Not At All Subtle :  It’s not particularly surprising for someone who’d gravitate towards a giant robot, but Vandal hasn’t got much patience for doing things the sneaky, crafty way.  He tends to state his opinion at full volume, and prefers a head-on battle when there’s even a chance for victory.
Can’t Fully Utilize his Spec:  The Getter talent tree has always been one focused on Combination and working in concert with a team.  Vandal was the only one of his friends to receive an advance copy of Awaken Online, and as such he’s operating without his wingmen.  He either needs to link up with some other pilots to get the most out of his unit, find some NPC’s to fill out the role, or work out some other combination that he can exploit before he’ll be able to get the most out of his build.

Well that was epic

I could probably see that character either fitting in to Caster, Berserker or Saber. Obviously has powerful magic abilities, incredible brute strength and is a solid melee fighter.

If I was to create her as a NPC in the game, and you met her later and asked “Hey, what class are you?” She would probably say that she was some special high level Advanced Class that utilized components from all three.

This brings up a important note! For the most part not all canon anime characters will fit nicely in to one class or another. The probably have powers that span across multiple different classes. Sometimes if you are truly wanting to adopt the exact power set of that canon anime character, when your character gets stronger you may end up needing to pursue a Advanced Class.

Example!! I love examples. Let’s say I wanted to mimic Naruto’s power set 100%. Well Assassin seems like the obvious starting class for that character. But what about summoning the giant 9 tail fox? Or taking on his Sage Form and wrecking shop? Neither of those seem like powers that an Assassin Class should be good at.

You are correct! Eventually you will hit a point where in order to get more powers, and more powerful abilities you will need to adopt a Advanced Class. I don’t have a set list of Advanced Classes, theoretically there could be thousands. They are just meant to help you unlock more potential abilities.

In this case with Naruto you would need to pick up the Advanced Class “Hokage” or “Chunnin” or something along those lines, whatever we decide to call it.

It is also worth noting that some Advanced Classes will have prerequisite’s. Sometimes you may need to complete a quest, be a certain class, or have your abilities and fighting style already be themed in a certain direction.

I like the idea, Mac! Regular floors will probably have designated “safe zones” where players can rest and restock on supplies without fear of being attacked (probably). But having specific floors that can act as the HUB for player housing, crafting, season events, etc. would make things a lot more organized.

Since every 10th floor is going to be a Mega-Floor, significantly harder than all the floors which came before it, it would make sense that the 9th floor was always this Safe Floor. Encouraging players to just stay put and never proceed on.

Your sheet looks great as well, Gunmetal! A few questions:

1. Are your character and Mac’s character related? Or is the fact that you both have the same last name just a coincidence? Is he the ‘other pilot’ you reference in your sheet?

2. Who is the other pilot you reference being part of your team? Is that going to be another player, or a NPC that you plan to interact with off screen?

3. This is a question for you as well Mac. Since your mechs are quite large they would have the obvious weakness of not being able to be used while inside of cramped spaces or buildings (assuming the building can’t be blown open). Since you two are the only ones so far who have giant mechs, do you want to make them much smaller than they appear in their anime’s (say 2 stories tall or so) so that you don’t have to deal with this problem? Or would you rather keep their original full size. I don’t think this whole “fighting in a closed space” will be a problem often, but it will come up here and there.

Your sheet is good to go Presta! Since you picked up a Strength which implies you know things others probably don’t feel free to ping me if you want to get some by of information you can use in character to utilize this power. For instance, locations on the floor for good resource gathering, rumors about who the boss might be, potental item locations, etc.

I'm glad I was able to help in any way LH ;D

Since your mech will be shooting missiles and machine guns and whatnot, just a friendly reminder not to be surprised when it is as effective as another player who (without having a mech) only fires a revolver at the enemy.

Hmmm, I can most certainly understand the logic behind that but that does kinda put a damper on being a "Rider" Class. May have to reconsider the character all together. I would like to play something that would prove to be useful to the group as a whole, and not simply something that is more flash than substance.

The VF-25S battroid mode only stands about 16 meters tall so it is already 3-4 stories tall tops. and shrinking the mecha down to two stories, essentially making it a Chibi version of itself, would also diminish the attractiveness of playing the character as well. Though the Intermediate configuration would be roughly be about 7-9 meters call. Possibly keeping it under the two story Max height for "Confined spaces."

Let me rephrase the note. The Rider class is generally more powerful than the other classes given the space requirements to use them and that you could be caught without them. But they will not be far more powerful than the other classes. Obviously in RL a missle shot from a mech is going to do far more damage then a revolver. But if a player wants to play a Naruto character or Trigun and chooses to make themselves a Archer, effectively having someone who uses Kunai or a revolver as their primary weapon, the effect that their attacks have on a enemy will be similar to yours. This is to keep things balanced so that people who pick inherently higher power level anime’s stay on the same plane of combat prowess as those who pick a lower power scale anime (like Black Lagoon, or Cowboy Bebop)

  Just my two cents.

I agree that characters should be balanced. But I think balancing them against the kind of weapon they are using is a good idea. That being, as an example, that a giant robot that throws a kunai won't be vastly different than a person throwing one. By the same case, a person carrying a half ton minigun will have similar damage output to a giant robot with the same gear. Meaning that mechs, who on the whole use much larger weapons, will still be evened out despite their increased payload.

This forces a bit of skill into the RP as well, since a savvy bastard like Spike Speigle will start shooting off your heavy weapons and using them on you.  It also may add a bit of an advantage to using actual ammo, as opposed to beam / laser weapons, since the difference between energy outputs is all scaled evenly.

Maybe just spit balling, but my point is that I kind of lean towards Mac on this one. Yes to power balancing. But if a giant robot isnt any better in a fight than a street thug with a glock, then everyone will be picking weird crap like I did! xD

Sure, my primary interest is just to make sure that players who chose anime’s that are not over the top in their power scale don’t feel like they have to be more inventive or skilled writers/role players in order to hang with the guys who picked something that comes from a very high powered universe.

In my mind I justified the “street thug doing as much damage as a mech” because really they aren’t a street thug and a mech. One is a Archer and one is a Rider. The game is retroactively adjusting their damage values to keep them in line with one another.

If you guys are confident that players won’t feel like they missed out or picked the wrong choice if they decide to go with a lower power anime universe then I’m fine with adjusting

Heyo Mac, it’s been a long while.  Good to see you’re holding up.

Yeah, I am :P  You might’ve beaten me to Macross, but Robotech was one of those series that got me into anime in general so it’ll always have a special place with me.  I do need to go back and finish Delta at some point though, I always seem to lose track of series when I catch them live ^_^’

Been reading a bunch of Isekei and watching Re:Creators, so I was pretty much in the perfect mood for a pitch like this.

Okay, let’s see, questions questions:

Quote from: Red Lobster1. Are your character and Mac’s character related? Or is the fact that you both have the same last name just a coincidence? Is he the ‘other pilot’ you reference in your sheet?
No, Vandal and Jeremy are not related (I didn’t plan anything with Mac in advanced here ^_^; ), it’s a sort of coincidence.  “Vandal Black” isn’t the character’s real name, it’s just the name they assigned the character when they built it.  They’ve been mum on their identity in the real world, for much the same reason they’ve been vague on what they want out of the cash shop.

Quote from: Red Lobster2. Who is the other pilot you reference being part of your team? Is that going to be another player, or a NPC that you plan to interact with off screen?
Currently, Vandal has no Copilots.  The plan is to spend some of his advances to recruit co-pilots, and in doing so unlock the Neo Getter-2 and then Neo Getter-3 forms.  In theory, Jeremy Black could fulfill one of those roles, but I’m imagining he’ll want to pilot his own machine :P  Alternatively, I could pick up the Mobile Doll, Phantom System, or Dummy Plug traits from another anime to help with form shifting, though that approach would lock me out of using traits like Hearts Beating as One later.

Not sure if scooping up canon people would be frowned on, it kinda steps on the Master class’s schtick.

Quote from: Red Lobster3. This is a question for you as well Mac. Given that it’s a game, I don’t mind scaling down the Getter to fit a multiplayer environment better.  I mean, can you imagine if some troll took the Gunbuster and just sat it down on top of the auction house and mailboxes?  As long as I can punch an Oozaru or Naruto’s nine-tailed fox in the face, I’m big enough to do what I want to :P  Admittedly, that does bring up the possibility of Evangelion’s world geometry actually being scaled really small so people like Rally Vincent are dodging between buildings gunning down Angels.  The idea makes me laugh, so I’m all for it.

That having been said, I’m already comfortable with the abstracted nature of HP and the like.  I signed on with the notion that I could beam struggle a Kamehameha using a Getter Beam and have character level determine the outcome of that.  Cowboy Bebop might be a weird example since, ya know, they actually have armed ships that they could use to combat a VF, but I get the concern with stuff like Black Lagoon.

We could also just be hand wavy about the size of you guys like that better? Maybe the size just adjusts for the available space, only not being usable when you are in a very small environment?

I like that (thinking more on it) because my mantra thus far has been “don’t punish players for selecting the anime they like”. If you chose a rider that had a inherently smaller “mount” in the universe that would make you a stronger Rider then someone who takes a giant mech.

Or! I could make it so that relative size does have a impact on power? Thus your “When can it be used weakness” is a problem for available space, but the payoff comes by busting it out when you do have the freedom to move around.

Thoughts?

Mn … my honest opinion is that tying the Mount to “power” is a mistake.  It’s an easy mistake “rides stuff” is a very visible designator after all.  However, if you consider the other roles, they say something about the character’s strategic role, not just their methodology (consider the examples we’ve had about “Sabers who enhance their capabilities with magic”).

It might be better to conflate “Rider” classes with “Cavalry”, a high-mobility archetype.  Of course, having a form of conveyance is the easiest way to represent that, but kind of like you could have a fist-fighting “Saber” I don’t think it should be impossible to have a “Rider” who is just naturally that fast.

In that framework “Has a Mecha” is simply a flavor, just like “Has Ki Control” or “Carries Enchanted Weaponry”.  Under that kind of system, a VF-Fighter is a logical “Rider”, whereas a Getter that slugs it out in close might shift to a Saber or Lancer.

It’s just a thought though.

I mean, if we go smaller, there's nothing saying I can't pick up a "Kaiju Buster" Advanced Class later for pulling an Ultraman and growing huge to punch giant rubber monsters.  Abstraction is our friendly friend in a crossover scenario like this, I assume that Mounts are "summoned" WoW style instead of having to worry about hangar space and maintenance anyway.

BruceTheCat

I like your points Gunmetal!

Let me know what you guys think Mac and Presta. I’m wanting to make a habit of making decisions based on what the players as a group feel is the best option, and will make the game fun for them

In all honestly, I rather keep my mount the size it is suppose to be. More or less for aesthetic purposes. I can understand we may find ourselves in environments that the mounts can't be used in, thus forcing the Riders to fight/operate outside their mounts. But I think that would add more flavor to the game in general. Causing Players to think outside their limitations. There are environments that play the strength, and weaknesses of classes. So long as it holds true to every class.

Ex. While an archer is very effective in an open space with many sight lines. In a very urban area, their strength is diminished cause of buildings, and/or clutter.

Yet this goes opposite for a Assassin. Open spaces don't afford places for the Assassin to Hide, or conceal themselves. While in an Urban environment. there would be many places for the assassin to skulk about to close in on their target.

I still have to think some on the Power issue.

my apologies if I'm not making any sense. Sometimes it is difficult for me to communicate my thoughts.

You are totally fine! No apology necessary, I’m just happy to see some interest in the game.

Yeah I agree, every class should be ideal in some circumstances and less ideal in others. These are pretty obvious for Rider/Archer/Assassin, but less obvious for others.

Honestly my words may be making a mountain out of a mole hill! I’m planing to make fights challenging but my #1 priority will be to make them fun. And it’s not fun to be told you cant use your mount because it is too big, or to feel like your attacks are weak. Or because you aren’t in “optimal” terrain you aren’t doing anything to contribute to the fight. So once we get playing and start fighting I hope it really won’t feel like a problem. That is, players won’t feel like one player is too strong over the rest because of his power set.

Mn, the more I think about it, the more I think I understand the complication.  The thing we're tripping over here is less "scale" than it is how much room a given series has for progression.  Shonen and mecha serieses have built in mechanisms for upgrading the character over time.  You learn a new technique, get an upgrade, whatever.  Hitting a roadblock and then powering through it is built into their narrative, their very souls.

When you get to shows set in the modern time, by comparison, the cieling for how high you can go is much lower and the protagonists tend to be portrayed as people at the top of their field right from the word go.  Whichever episode you watch, Spike is Spike, and Revy would feel less like revy without her custom pistols (which makes it almost impossible to justify weapon upgrades for her...unless the pistols are a cosmetic item applied to whatever she's carrying).  Essentially, to progress these kinds of characters would seem to have to step outside of their idiom.  That can be interesting on its own, but we've already got the Player angle which makes everyone a bit of a fish out of water.  That robs it of a bit of its weight.

Of course, all I'm really saying is that more fanciful concepts get more wiggle room with suspension of disbelief, and thus might be better suited for this kind of scenario.  I don't think that's revelatory to anyone, given the sorts of applications and type questions we've heard so far.  We might be over examining a problem that isn't there.  I mean "nameless thug with a gun" is pretty clearly a trash mob, do you really expect any PC to struggle with one?

I'll throw my weight on in this to (even though I literally just posted about my interest)

I was taken by the idea from the start but can see where this sense of progression is going to cause an issue a prime example being DBZ where characters can go into god mode and then farther and farther

That being said I like what you said Gunmetal at the end. Of it being over thought on. If this was a game like sword art online then the bosses would require a heavy amount of team work and working together. I love Sword Art Online and one of the things about each floor "boss" is that there over powered. People DIE taking them on and it requires a basic army working together to defeat them sometimes.

So its feasible that our characters would be going up against the very best of the best of each anime "floor" so I don''t think it is going to be so much aabout progression and more an emphasis on that sword art online mentality of hey we need EVERYONE to clear this boss.

But anyways thats my input! Like I said hope I am not jumping in here! I do REALLY love this idea!

Lexus
One Piece
Class - Beserker

Appearance/Style Description – Standing 6 foot 5 Lexus’s physique is of extremely defined musculature and bulk. Big and intimidating his appearance reeks of the Beserker class, that of brutishness and the classic anime toughguy aura. His hair is free-flowing and unkempt and his face, if mask is taken off, is rugged and that of a veteran man rather than the common youthful look many other players go for.

Personality –

Given his tanky build it comes as no surprise that Lexus is comfortable with going it lone-wolf style in the game. His approach is pretty simple-minded; slice the enemy in half. However Lexus is very empathic with the plight of fellow players and is not averse to the importance of teamwork in progressing through the levels but Lexus is no buddy-buddy to everyone he meets. His mindset is that of strong before weak is tainted with selfishness which means this player, if faced with the choice, will put objective over the life of another player if it is for the greater good of getting him out of the game.

Backstory –

Fear was the first thing Lexus felt upon hearing the ultimatum laid down by the ‘’Storyteller’’. He was apart a group of close knit mates who were all, in the real world, pretty well-off and sought this revolutionary new game that was Awaken Online out of a desire to take a break from the hustle of money making and relationships. It was just the cruel humour of fate that some of those friends would be killed within the 1st month of the game and the rest divided out of fear, desperation and shock. Those in shock never believed the ‘’Storyteller’’ and they killed themselves in their belief that they would leave the game…

Lexus became a lone, wandering soul after his disastrous group failure. Eventually his fear an confusion warped into that of anger and a feeling of unyielding determination to claw his way out of the virtual hellhole he found himself back to the warmth of the sun and the life he once led. Although still harbouring trauma and shock Lexus applied cold logic and adopted a Machiavellian approach, something he had used successfully during his time in the real world. Setting about on a path of mastering his class in order to become the ultimate Beserker Lexus spent almost all his time grinding on low level monsters with the occasional return to civilisation to update his equipment and catch up on the state of things.

Now, after having risen above his fear and wielding 2 tremendous cleaver tachi swords Lexus returns to join a like-minded group of individuals who want out of hell.

Powers/Equipment

Atomic Samurai
Lexus has chosen to specialise in the wielding of massive, great swords which he prefers to dual wield. His build is completely optimised for the Beserker class and promotes raw offensive power as well as an iron defence befitting his persona.

Iron Body – By his special passive ability of Haki Lexus is able to coat only a small part of his body, such as a limb or his abdominals, in black which serves as highly effective armour that enhances both strength and resilience to all sorts of enemy attacks.

Razor Storm – Harnessing his inner rage Lexus unleashes a rapid, terrifying wave of consecutive, chain assaults by his great sword(s) intended to cleave his enemy into pieces. At the moment this is his strongest offensive attack.

Lightning Strike – A long-ranged attack where Lexus gathers Haki into his sword before unleashing a single but powerful energy sword slash

Righteous Rage – The ultimate Beserker ability where Lexus unleashes all the rage gathered within him, built up and maintained by battle and damage inflicted upon him. Lexus is able to channel this awesome power into his offensive stats, massively empowering them to allow him to enter a temporary state where his attacks will become devastating to all his swords manage to touch at the cost of being unable to differentiate friend from foe.

Haki Armour – A powerful innate power, possessed by all One Piece players, that provides Lexus both offensive and defensive advantages over his enemy. This power can extend to the weapons the user is wielding, empowering them as it would the user. Currently having only mastered the beginner levels of this passive power Lexus can already estimate the sheer potential of Haki for his Beserker playstyle.

Strengths –

Rage Lexus harbours such feelings of wrath and vengeance that he is able to withstand the fear of death and continue to push the enemy to his last breath. It does not matter if his HP bar is at 5% or his swords are damaged beyond the point of repair, if his last act in this hell is that of righteous rage Lexus will stoically push on.

Juggernaut A mighty warrior in both technicality and mentality Lexus is unyielding and unflinching in his advance towards victory. Being a tank he is able to sustain damage that would otherwise be deadly to other classes and this damage also serves to empower his rage bar. Thus, it comes as no surprise that enemies tend to try to pick him out first in a group fight.

Grinder – The monotonous grind of farming low level monsters is something that Lexus revels in. Simple and efficient in his eyes he is a hustler who works diligently toward success whether it be his personal goals or team goals he will work.

Weaknesses –

Rage – As a Beserker the power of anger is his greatest weapon. It is also his greatest weakness. The possibility of unintentionally slaying his teammates is one of the couple things he still fears in this world which is a reason why he went lone wolf for so long.

Tank – His offensive capabilities are no doubt very powerful but they are predictable, unless empowered by Berserk mode, and slow compared to other classes so if faced with a small, evasive and very agile opponent Lexus will have a problem building up rage and countering that sort of playstyle.

Made an upgrade or two.  Can't wait to play!

Finished Character Sheet, except for image
Name – Akiko Yukiji
Anime Origin – Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Class - Assassin

– (I am going to have to draw the picture, but here's a flamboyantly posing female for you!)

Video games were simply another part of this: a way to escape into a place where things made sense, and where troublesome people were avoidable.

She seems to have a second layer, however, which is more flamboyant and fun loving.  This seems to be related to when her Stand, Pour Some Sugar, is active.  It may be that this is her true self, or it may be a side effect of picking a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Character.  Whatever the case, the normally prickly Akiko is a bit of a riot when she loosens up, fan-girling over strange things, pouring down the alcohol, and enjoying animated conversations with inanimate objects.

Understanding Akikio requires understanding her love of an object's history.  She loves knowing where an item has been, who's hands it has passed through, how did it break, who repaired it, and especially what sort of secrets it carried while it was traded around.  She is a bit of a tinker in this regard, enjoying restoring pieces to their halcyon glory, and taking great interest in trading such objects in ways that will improve their tale.  When not doing that, she enjoys watching films and listening to music, taking a special interest in finding out how certain scenes were made and why certain decisions came about.  The process of art, she believes, is meaningful.  I'm fact, that's the reason she wants out of the game world: because the process of making something is unfortunately simplified.  What story is there, in learning someone maxed out their crafting skill and hit a rock until became jewelry?  She often reflects on the paradox, that it took being in a game like this to appreciate humanity.

Backstory – She wanted to escape the world.  She can only be so unhappy by getting exactly what she asked for.  The shock everyone felt when the Story Teller announced that they were trapped here seemed to roll off her shoulders.  She watched from a safe position by the wall, knowing that everyone would go mad once the news came through.  She was happy to be here.  At least, initially.  Although it did leave her having to deal with a lawless land, where sport-killers and morons alike would try to bring her down.  She managed, slowly learning how to use her Stand in new and potent ways, and developing the fine art of 'convincing' a tool to act outside of its normal parameters.

Since then, being here has been relatively easy for her due to the utility of her skill-set.   She's made a good business for herself as an appraiser and antique salesman.  Her shop, The Antediluvian Kaleidoscope, is known a great place to learn about an object and its owners, get it restored to peak condition, or to purchase old things she's bought off of others.  Sometimes she acts as a fence, although she's not very keen on hawking stolen weaponry.  Even then she's usually fair, willing to make a deal with the sensible ones and not always turn them in, which has given her a strange credit among local criminals and law enforcement alike.  Added to that, she's made a bit of a reputation for herself as someone who can find leads in quests, making her valuable as a party member.  All of this has allowed her to continue a professional, privately reclusive life-style with some measure of success.  Of course, this has come with a few problems, such as getting stuck with useless or nigh suicidal parties, getting into trouble when payment for her services is due.

Honestly, she could be happy here.  Except that the more she learns about items, the more she runs into a wall.  The stories, as intriguing as they are, are simply fantasy.  She misses her collections in the real world, and actually working with her hands to restore something.  There are other reasons to want to return as well.  Still, for the past few years, she's been happy, successful, and full of stories.  It's not bad to want to change if you're in a happy place, she tells herself.

Armor - A black-dyed, suede leather outfit with a finely woven cotton inlay, is sewn with strategically placed, non-clinking metal plates, which go over a Kevlar under armor.  It allows her freedom of movement, multi-climate utility, and is very good for sneaking around.  She wears this under her neo-hippie garb, allowing her to adjust the warmth if needed.  While Kevlar normally will degrade quickly in certain conditions (knives, water, previous bullets, etc) Pour Some Sugar allows her to keep it at peak levels.  She just needs to remember to repair it in between combat.

Close Range Weapon - A pair of antique, extremely high quality daggers, one side with a serrated edge for carving and blocking weapons, and the other side with a clean, sharper edge for stabbing and cutting.  They are durable, able to block considerably larger weapons without breaking.  And as always, she maintains them as only Pour Some Sugar can.

Long Range Weapon - An old, long barreled, .38 caliber sniper rifle with silencer.  Normally, a silencer would go bad after a few shots.  But thanks to Pour Some Sugar, this one silencer has been able to keep this weapon stealthy since she got it.  Best of all, the rifle is an older model, which will actually help her aim if she listens to it.  She sometimes breaks it down into parts when she's on missions, stowing each piece in separate parts of her pouch so she can move unhindered.  Her ammunition is self-made, and she maintains her weapon regularly to get the most of out it, paying each part its own attention.

4) Tinker: Akiko isn't a world-level craftsman.  But she is good with her hands, able to restore, repair, and maintain objects efficiently.  She even makes her own ammo.  (This is much easier if she has a cooperative object, over 3 years old.)
5) Successful Business: The Antediluvian Kaleidoscope is a successful business venture, giving her resources and clout with both the lawful and the lawless.

4) Objects Is People: Not many people would think holding a priceless Ming Dynasty Vase hostage would work, but in Akiko's case, it might just.
5) Calm Your Tits: When she's in her looser, more boisterous mode, Akiko can sometimes make a mistake.  Something she'll chide herself for, knocking her out of the mood.
6) Assassin Class: Akiko is useful in a party, but she's not going to break any records in a fight.

Since RL brought up the subject of Missiles.

I was thinking how to incorporate the Missiles for the Messiah that my character pilots.

Here are two ways I see it working. Both working on the line of a special ability.

He would have infinite missiles, but only a certain number of barrages (a flurry of hyper maneuverable but short ranged Micro Missiles so about 5-7 missiles per Barrage). Like his Basic fighter Outfit gets 5 barrages he can fire off before The weapon goes on a cool down cycle. He doesn't have to fire off all five at once (Unless the situation calls for it) but He has to fire off all five before he can "Reload". The number of barrages change depending on Which Supplimental Pack he has outfited (Still working on the kinks for that, but each armor has its own special characteristics.)

Missile characteristics could be different depending on what the set up as well. Either can can target up to X number of targets per Barrage. OR, He can target one Target with ALL the missiles of that flurry.

Super pack: 8 Barrages (Speed+ Boost, small Firepower boost)
Armor Pack: 12 Barrages (armor, Firepower Boost, Reduced speed)
Tornado Pack: 3 Barrages (cause it focuses more on its Dorsal mounted twin cannons, and maneuverability than Missile Power)

The second set up is taken from the video game Macross 30 (I have it, and it is how Robotech Battlecry SHOULD HAVE BEEN! in other words, SUPER AWESOME!)

The Craft has its primary weapon (In this case the Gunpod), and three Subweapon slots that carry Ten Magazines of X number of rounds each. So once the magazines are depleted, He'll have to replenish them at a "Base" or Store. Subweapons could be different types of things. Like Micro Missiles, Regular Missiles "Anti-Ship Missiles with Areas of affect (Splash Damage), Anti-Air laser system, Etc.

The Subweapons could change depending on which Armor Suite he is using as well.

I'm still working in a different cost for each Supp. Package to prevent  Overuse.

How is that striking you RL, Everyone?

Eliza

I may be biting off more than I can chew by showing interest (as I'm familiar with SAO). Good you're not going the Log Horizon route in regards to respawns.

For my character, I might choose something from a very ambiguous anime that might not be combat orientated... like Musashi.

I take it there isn't an IC thread up yet?

I am still itnerested in as well but I probably wont get my character sheet up until Tuesday!

Character sheets thread is up! If you have been approved please feel free to move them over here - https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=279478.0

@Mac, I like the first idea you proposed better. The one where he can select a number of targets or focus all of the missiles on one single target. At that point really all it is is a Special Power that lets him release a missile barrage, providing him with the ability to decide whether it hits many people, or one person.

For the beginning of the game I don't want to get very "system heavy" with things like ammo, attack types, etc. I'd like to see kind how the fights go and get some player feedback before rolling out that sort of stuff in to the game.

@Eliza, there is no IC thread yet! Glad to see you are interested

It evolves a little, getting weirder every time.

Season 1 features Dio, the archetypical charismatic badguy with a splash of flamboyant so delectable that it revitalizes the entire genre!

Season 2 features what my brother refers to as 'the only universally loved Nazi in fiction,' as well a villain literally named AC/DC.

Season 3 features a goddamn horrorcore, demon-summoning bird.

Season 4 features the act of punching a plate of spaghetti and resetting it to its pre-cooked ingredients as a valid form of deduction.

And all throughout, metal references and incredibly flamboyant, nigh homo-erotic poses!  You have to see this crap!!

Okay, I think I have it down now. If there is any problems. Please let me know.

Also, Canoncially the VF-25 can carry a passenger so I can see Jeremy using that to get Presta's character in close if in an open field or something. :P

Character Name - Jeremy Black
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (Frontier)

(Note: This Messiah is not the "Skull One" Special piloted by Ozma Lee. So it carries no special attributes). The Fighter is Green trimmed in White. No Guild Markings.

His mount's primary weapon is its gunpod that can fire two hundred rounds before it has to "Reload", its Cool down.

The Mount does have some melee capabilities being able to throw punch, or kick in its Gerwalk, or Battroid forms. though it does have a combat knife mounted in its left arm shield.

The Mount's Secondary Function is "Itano Circus", or Missile barrage. The Standard Mount carries 5 missile barrages of 7 hyper manueverable short range Micro Missiles that can be set to target multiple Targets (up to 7), or all on One target. While Jeremy doesn't have to fire all barrages of missiles at once, He has to fire all five before his Missiles reload. (Note: Number of Missile Barrages change depending on what Supplimental Pack the Fighter is using. Armored Pack (12x), Super Pack (8x), Tornado Pack (3x)

While Jeremy may not have much in the way of super powers. His "Mount" more than makes up for this with its supplemental equipment. He has access to a Super pack, An Armor Pack, and A "Tornado Pack"

Armor Pack tremendous increase to Armor, and Fire power while Reducing the plane's speed/Agility.

Fast Pack gives moderate increase to Firepower, and Speed at the reduction of Agility.

Tornado Pack Gives tremendous Increase to Agility with a slight decrease to Firepower.

(Will discuss with GM on Cost/allowable usage of Packs)

Strength:
Loyalty. Jeremy is loyal, almost to a fault and hates the idea of letting his comrades down.

Military Prowess: There facets about Jeremy's persona, despite his laziness, that suggest that he has had prior military training from before the game.

Spatial Awareness: Having to pilot, and operate a mecha that moves in three dimensions he has to be acutely aware of his surroundings at all times.

Weaknesses:
Impulsive: Sometimes Jeremy can get caught up in the moment and jump right in without fully taking stock of his situation.

Lazy: While Jeremy is far from a Causal Player, he isn't exactly Hardcore either. Many would catalogue him lazy as he isn't going out of his way to max out everything in the game.

Mount-less: Jeremy's true strength comes from his Mount. While he is not helpless outside his mount. He is far less effective in a fight.

Pineapple Salad: A macross/robotech fan gets this.

My tentative answer regarding switching between different Packs would just be not to go crazy and I don’t have any concern with it. I’m guessing you probably wouldn’t be switching more than once or twice at the most during a single fight

Sweetness! I was thinking on the swapping can only be done "Outside of Combat." So if No one was actively engaging Jeremy for longer than a period of time, He could swap armors, but it would take some time after he swapped to be able to swap again. Like possibly 5 minutes. So that way he can't just continually swap for the situation. Making which armor he chooses in comparison to the Situation around him important.

Metraxa

Hm, still trying to decide on a character, since at this point it's tossing around a couple anime ideas to see which would be fun for everyone if we ran into it. I'll work it out, eventually

Let's try making a Caster to fill in some variety. Let me know if anything needs to change from this.

:3c

Name – Ryou Kurogane
Anime Origin – Yugioh 5D's
Class - Caster

Appearance/Style Description: Ryou appears to be dressed casually, but prefers the contrasting colors of black and white on his clothes to make him easier to look at. The thing that stands out the most on him is his Duel Disk strapped to his left arm - this one is streamlined for a simpler yet elegant design with a black outer body and white interiors and highlights. Ryou also has a belt with a deck holder strapped to it. He carries around a simple backpack in addition to this for his other belongings.

Personality: Ryou is typically a quiet and observant guy, preferring to stick to the back and let others take the glory while he makes sure things go well from behind. He's surprisingly upbeat and seemingly carefree despite the situation outside, and is known to consider crises as the greatest opportunities. He is known to set strict conditions for those interested in his services, but is willing to give his all to those willing to put up with his rules. If he feels that someone is going to be trouble, Ryou won't hesitate to call that individual out to voice his suspicions.

Backstory: What Ryou thought to be some way to pass the time became more than he bargained for, with The Storyteller informing them of their dire situation. While most people were overcome by the fact that they were trapped without any means of escape, the young man thought of it as a chance for him to settle down and know the game better. Ryou took a more opportunistic approach at adventuring, helping out when things were most beneficial to him and ensuring that ground rules he set were put into place. The ground rules changed over time to make sure groups don't fall apart in the middle of an adventure.

Ryou is known to spend most of his time in the towns of the game, occasionally going together with small groups by request or going out by himself to check on things within the vicinity.

Powers/Equipment: Duel Disk + Cards = Duelist
Ryou's abilities revolve around the cards he draws and the Duel Disk to manifest the power of the cards. These cards are divided into Monsters, Spells, and Traps. Ryou focuses on a Machine Deck that revolves around the archetype of A to Z.

Monsters - Ryou's key Monsters are X Head Cannon, Y Dragon Head, and Z Metal Tank. If at least two of these Monsters are present, Ryou can combine them into the XY-Dragon Cannon, the XZ-Tank Cannon, or the YZ-Tank Dragon. He can also combine all three into the formidable XYZ-Dragon Cannon if given the time.

Spells - with his loadout currently filled with strong Monsters, Ryou could only squeeze in Enemy Controller into his Spell Slot.

Traps - due to the time needed to set up his Monsters, Ryou relies heavily on Scrap-Iron Scarecrow to stall for time.

Strengths:
Lucky Pinch - just when it looks like Ryou's back is against the wall, he manages to pull off a lucky break by getting out the right card for the job.

Let's Be Friends - Ryou's easygoing appearance has a calming effect on certain people, and he's quite easy to approach when there is a need to be satisfied.

Gaming Strategy - something about Ryou's head makes him good at thinking games, allowing him to lure enemies into lowering their guard as he sends out something bigger.

Weaknesses:
Gamer Caution - Ryou plays defensively, avoiding certain risks if he is uncertain of the outcome. This could result in missed opportunities, especially if the opponent is really good at bluffing.

Caster Class - Ryou is no good at close combat, relying heavily on his Monsters to do the brunt of the work in fighting enemies for him. He's not exactly good at taking damage either.

Gamer Flair - the fight could get to Ryou's head, and he'd try to show off by using his Monsters to go for an overwhelming victory against the enemy. A clever opponent could take advantage of this and disrupt Ryou's pacing where it counts.

Summoning Limits - Ryou cannot summon Monsters in rapid succession due to the specific mechanics of his class. There is a cooldown before another Monster can be called out unless special requirements were satisfied.

Eliza

Name – Ethana
Bleach
Class - Archer

[Female Version]

Appearance/Style Description: Ethana stands at 5' 4” and wears a white, sleeveless coat over a black kimono. She also has a off-white scarf wrapped around her neck. Her long hair is jet black and usually tied in a single braid down her back. She wears sandals on her feet.

Personality: Ethana is quiet, usually when she has nothing beneficial to say. She tends to handle things alone, but doesn't refuse help if it is offered.

Backstory: This was supposed to be the last time. After finding out a retailer was releasing copies of the game a day early, he left work and bought himself a copy and brought it straight home. His wife found the game case and threatened to burn it. He begged her to come to a compromise. So she gave him an ultimatum, giving him to the end of the day to enjoy Awaken Online. He was to then logout and grow up and take care of his family, leaving his online fantasies behind.

His ultimate fantasy was playing as a female, as he imagined the looks of guys' faces as she obliterated her foes. He had been grinding in the field, only able to get to the fifth floor when an alarm signaled that it was midnight. He proceeded to logout, but was surprised that he couldn't. For hours he wasn't able to leave, probably due to an in-game error, but he was surprised that his wife didn't forcibly rip the headset from his head. She's probably sleeping, he thought.

Upon returning to the main hub, he was shocked to see everyone gathered, but everyone was not in good spirits. It didn't take long for word of what had transpired to get to him. The in-game clock gave him encouragement. A day had passed and he was still online. Sadly, a great number of other players weren't.

If I'm still alive, my wife is probably patiently waiting for me to logout in the proper way, he thought to himself. This wasn't a time to give up, but to get out there and climb to the top. Because waiting for him was his family. But he couldn't do it by himself. He had avoided clans and player groups, only partaking in battles with close friends. But to gain access to the higher floors, he needed help.

Powers/Equipment:

Energiko Cuffs – Worn on her wrists and ankles, these allow the use of pure energy to manifest weapons such as her longbow and its accompanying arrow bolts.

Jade Energiko Longbow – A longbow made up of pure energy, manifested using Energiko Cuffs, which offers greater stability the longer the bow is strung.

Cloud Step – Using the Energiko Cuffs on her ankles, Ethana can run at blinding speeds, even vertically, with little effort, as the cuffs allow her feet to step on manifested energy.

Arc Gauge – Provides predicted measurements for a current shot that take into account world gravity and wind resistance for accurate targeting for long-range attacks.

Strengths:

Concentration – Ethana is able to drown out most of all the distractions and focus on the task at hand.

Deliberative Mindset – She takes into account the pros and cons, the benefits and risks before making a decision. Relationship-wise, she is not quick to make friends.

Calm – Despite drama or chaos in battle, she can prevent panic from setting in and altering her actions.

Weaknesses:

Stubborn – Ethana sometimes doesn't know when to stop, especially when she's ahead.

Town Markets – Having settled with her current weapons, it doesn't stop her from window shopping at all the various markets.

Introvert – Not the first person to speak or make her presence known. Not great at making friends.

#88
Name – Tybalt "Ty" Wethers
Anime Origin – Hellsing
Class - Saber

Appearance/Style Description – Ty is decently tall, standing just north of 6 foot but not stretching so far as to seem alarming or overtly intimidating by his sheer size. He has broad shoulders and a lean muscular build. He is handsome, although in a more boyish way than most. Most of the time he sports a set of light fitting leather and metal plate armor. Alternating between that and no armor. Prioritizing light weight over sound protection in order to utilize his abilities to their fullest in melee combat. His chest piece, while plain and half rusted, bears the symbol of a dragon coiled around it's own body.

The image on the left is of what Ty's avatar looks like. The image on the right, they red substance creating claw on the woman’s left arm is how his power manifests once he begins combat.

Personality – Ty is a team player, or at least he thinks he is. Nobody has ever really given him any critical feedback on the topic. Being brave for the sake of others is a relatively new concept that he is beginning to learn, a requirement (he believes) of any effective Saber. Most of the time he comes off as relatively quiet, calm, and collected. Usually because he assumes that everyone is probably smarter or better equipped to tactics and strategy than he is. His personal mantra has always been 'If you think you're an idiot, better to stay quiet then open your mouth and confirm it'. He is quick to smile, enjoys the days off he gets from fighting, and (with the exception of the possibility of dying thing) is having a total blast playing AO.

More recently his enthusiasm has been dramatically diminished after several of his old party were killed.

Backstory – After the Storyteller revealed the master plot to every player in Awaken Online, Ty at first simply could not understand what was happening. He is too proud to admit it now but those first few days he sat, and did nothing while braver men and women forged ahead. Clearing the mobs on the first floor, searching dungeons, and gaining experience. They became stronger while he sat in a inn by himself, waiting for somebody to take his headset off.

When that never happened and Ty finally made peace with the fact that he was not going to be leaving anytime soon he ended up having a conversation with an adventuring party passing through the inn. They were in need of a Saber class fighter like him AND their party leader (a older looking man named Hachi) was apparently a big fan of Hellsing out in the real world. Agreeing to split the loot, and give Ty a chance to become a permanent group member, he went with them on the next dungeon raid. He performed marvelously, only nearly dying once.

The weeks passed and Ty remained with his new team. They would often talk about the 'front line fighters' over a campfire at night but none of them seemed to have daring to actually go join in. Instead they busied themselves and gained power by clearing as many dungeons and side quests as they could. Feeling as though they contributed to the 'war' effort by gearing up lower level players with a items stronger than they could have gotten on their own. Eventually, while clearing a relatively normal difficulty dungeon for the third time, something changed. The boss they'd been expecting was faster, stronger, with more potent killing abilities then ever before. It even focused on their Caster first, killing the poor girl, eviscerating his team, and causing the few who still were lucky enough to be alive to flee.

The group disbanded after that, and he has not seen any of the surviving members since. Determined not to give up again he made his way to the front lines.

Powers/Equipment –

Dark Composition - Ty’s body is made up of a highly variable otherworldly substance that is black in core and reddish on the edges. This can be especially seen whenever he takes heavy damage, the darkness being immune to conventional weaponry. Along with being able to use it to add extra or totally replace his limbs the darkness can serve as a malleable weapon.

Regeneration - Ty has the ability to quickly recover from any form of physical damage. This power, though it does not require him to stop fighting, does drain him of power. His speed, strength, and eventually rate of healing gradually diminish he more damage he sustains.

Enhanced Strength and Speed - Part of the vampire abilities he has gained as a result of borrowing powers from the Hellsing universe is superhuman speed and strength. If needed he could lift an object several times his own weight, or move fast enough to dodge a bullet he knows is coming at him.

Strengths –

Determination - After what happened with his last party Ty is utterly determined to beat Awaken Online. He has made peace with the fact that he will probably die in the effort, but it’s no less than his friends had to pay already

Barfly - Ty keeps in contact with a lot of the NPC or player quest givers and gossip fiends. As a result he usually knows more than most about what quests, items, enemies or special events are going on in the world.

Trap Lore - Most of Ty’s experience with Awaken Online so far has been spent inside of quest dungeons instead of on the front lines. He has developed an eye for spotting mechanical or magical traps

Weaknesses –

Holy Weapons - Probably Ty’s biggest weakness. In return for the incredible powers he gained from Hellsing he also took on one of Alucard and Seras’s main weaknesses, an inability to withstand damage from Holy Weapons or items. These do more damage to him than they would to a normal player

Blood - While Ty doesn’t necessarily need to drink blood in order to survive, it is required if he wants to regain his strength in a timely enough fashion to finish a dungeon or a quest. He hates it, but he has to carry a few vials of the stuff around to chug before or after fights.

Likes it Here - While Ty’s primary motivation is to escape Awaken Online, he recognizes that it mostly comes from a feeling of duty to everyone who died just so that the players could make it this far. In truth, he likes it better here than out there. Which is a problem that he thankfully does not yet need to comes to terms with.

I filled out my sheet with the exception of the Personality part! Let me know what you guys think

@Mac, I almost included Shapeshifting as part of his power just to have the excuse to actually turn Ty in to a big boobed blonde girl during a fight once in awhile. “Oh, I was being serious with that image. He’s REALLY in to Hellsing”

Incidentally, do we have a final call on the size thing?  If Mac wants to stay big, I'm comfortable doing the same (unlike him, I've got Chosen by the Getter Rays to keep me relevant indoors, and dungeon bosses tend to be in big open areas :P)

Now that we've got some more characters in, I'll admit, I'm thinking about making revisions so I can do the form swaps out the gate and retooling his "Boosts from Group Activities" theme a bit.

BruceTheCat

For now we will keep them at the same size as they are represented in their shows. If we have to change it later because it isn’t working we can discuss OOC

As of right now Kokaine no, there are no mechanics to the game other then what is described in the combat part of the recruitment post, and understanding that the Class you select will have certain strengths and weaknesses.

Other than that it’s freeform. I’ll let you know what works and what doesn’t in my GM post, as well as tell you what NPC attacks worked and did not work

Hey!  This looks really interesting.  Still character slots open for a possible caster?

Metraxa

Name – Fiorella
Anime Origin – Gunslinger Girl
Class - Archer

Appearance/Style Description
– Fiorella has light brown hair, blue eyes, She tends to wear a business suit which has been modified to be reinforced enough to serve as armor, though will settle for a dress in a more casual situation. Has a holster strapped to her belt for her sidearm, while she can be seen carrying around her other weapons slung on her back.

Personality – Fiorella is the lone wolf type, working in a small group if she needs to. She devotes herself fully to whatever task she is given, shows no mercy in combat, and tends to be more of the 'silent serious type' when interacting with others. She is fair when doing business and does not betray the deals that she has made. Has a serious dislike for PKers, and doesn't thunk too fondly of cowards either. She isn't the most charitable person but if she sees someone in a tight spot during a fight she will generally swing to the rescue. Still, she's willing to sell her services for the right amount of money or other valuable goods.

Backstory – Finding herself stuck in the game like everyone else, the reality of it did not initially sink in for Fiorella. She was busy enjoying life, and was assigned to a team as part of the initial push to move through the first couple floors in the game. Friends were made with those in her group, and she learned not only how to fight but the other skills that she would need to succeed in the game.

It did not last. The group got isolated during a push through a dungeon, and by the time the rest of the party came to the rescue she was the only one left. Fiorella was a changed girl once she had recovered, more serious and taciturn than she was before. She took a sabbatical from the floor push, secluding herself to grind, to learn, and grew more powerful so she would not let people down again. It was the only way in her mind, and she threw herself into it for quite some time before she deemed herself up to a level that met her own standards

At that point she returned to civilization at large, to find that a lot more progress had been made and there was a lot more ground open to the players. That meant there was a lot more to do, and she abstained from frontline work for the most part to throw herself into a position where she could move between the opened floors, doing the jobs that needed to be done by someone with her skill set. Now she's been pulled in for a new job, one which promises some unique rewards. She just hopes that it's worth it.

Powers/Equipment:

Augmentations - Fiorella has been augmented with skeletal implants, muscle enhancers, and artificial organs, granting her increased strength, speed, and durability. She's still killable, but it's much harder than it would be for a normal person.

MP 7 - It's a submachine gun. It shoots bullets. You can look it up on wikipedia if you want.

Beretta M9 - Like the above, it's a pistol. It shoots bullets.

Explosives - Fiorella has an assortment of flashbang, fragmentation, and tear gas grenades to use in a fight

Strengths:

Infiltration
- While not to the extent of an Assassin Class, Fiorella is good at making herself indistinguishable from other NPC's in a crowd up until a fight starts

Accuracy - Fiorella is a dead shot, no matter the weapon she uses.

Repair - Fiorella is good at maintaining and otherwise restoring her equipment

Weaknesses:

Lone Wolf - She prefers to work alone, or at the very least in small groups.

Unnatural Biology - Because of her augments, healing items are less effective than they would be otherwise.

Vendetta - Because of her work as a hired gun, there are some people who would very much like her to suffer an unfortunate 'accident' at the first convenient opportunity. Not a problem at the moment, but they could be.

Mac84

Howdy Sephora, and Metraxa! :D

#102
Name – Rina
Anime Origin – Pretty Cure
Caster

Appearance/Style Description –Long pink hair and a short stature, Rina can typically be found in garb that is easiest to move about in. She can usually be found in a bright and lightweight garment, along with her flower head band and gloves.

Personality – Timid and soft spoken, Rina spends the majority of her time being overlooked and under noticed.  That being said, she isn't a loner and would much rather be a part of a group than be by herself.  She tries her best to be a good person, and is determined that this 'game' won't change that.  Gentle of spirit and of mind, she tries her best not to let fear control her...all the time.

Backstory – Rina was terrified when she'd heard the announcements of the "storyteller".  She didn't have anyone in this world on her side, she didn't have friends or a team to rely on.  She was all alone.  For the first couple of weeks she hid out, trying to go unnoticed while hoping that someone else would save the day.  When she did venture out, it was just to do enough scavenging that she'd be able to make some potions that she could sell to her fellow players.

She accepted some training from some more experienced (and extremely charitable) players, but what she did next might as well have been a crime.  She watched from the backround as braver and more deserving heroes fought and...died.  People who trained her, people who had helped her----people who she had cheered on from the safety of an inn as they went to adventure forward.

It has only been just recently that Rina has finally made the motions to start pushing forward through the floors, guilt and determination guiding her to follow the footsteps of those who had deserved better fates.

Powers/Equipment –

purification:  Using her magical girl abilities, Rina is able to more effectively take out demonic or toxic opponents with a purification beam

Barrier:  She can develop a small protective barrier the size of a large shield around a single person or item of her choosing.

elemental attack:  She can shoot out a blast of elemental magic at an enemy.  At present the only element she can use is water.

Strengths –
Book smart: She is quite studious and is good at absorbing information

inventive:  She'll take the information she's gotten from books and be able to apply it outside of them.

Easily underestimated:  Both her stature and personality often lead people to assume Rina can't accomplish much.  She's used that to her advantage in the past month.

Weaknesses –

Timid:  she is unsure of herself, and that effects her both in and out of battle.

Gullible: She buys just about what anyone is selling

physically weak:  In a universe where most players are able to take and deliver hit after hit, she couldn't handle being on the front line for more than a few minutes.

Sephora

I'd been waffling back and forth, and I went the magical girl route instead.

Mac84

Nothing wrong with that at All! We don't have a caster yet, and she is a cutie. :p

#105
Name – Niko Fox
Anime Origin – Fairy Tail
Class - Saber

Appearance/Style Description – Fox stands 5'11" tall and despite possessing an undoubtedly feminine build, gives the appearance of being more tough than soft. She has an athletic physique with and sports a distinctive tattoo around her upper left arm. Her skin is of a darker complexion and her hair a black so dark it appears to have blue highlights. Her eyes are a pale pale blue, with the right being covered by an eye patch. There is also a wicked looking scar on that side of her face that slices through her right eyebrow and eye and curves down over the top of her cheek bone. Fox also has metal prosthetic limbs (her right arm from the middle of her bicep down, and her right leg from the knee down) that seem to move rather naturally despite being somewhat obvious.

Personality – Fox is quite the dashing figure. She styles herself as the suave and debonair heroine, an adventurer out for conquest and glory. It allows her to be quite friendly while giving very little of the truth away, her charisma and charm usually working to offset any abrasion her cocky person might happen to cause. Its true she is at her best in the thick of things and can sometimes be slightly socially awkward when there is nothing going on to play to but she does her best to disguise anything that falls short of full confidence. She has a knack for being inappropriate and forward and has a tendency to think with her "instincts" and heart rather than her head, but she does -possess some measure of cleverness nonetheless. Still, however much she can seem to operate for her own self-interests, Fox is the sort that strives to ensure that no one with her is ever left behind.

Backstory – After joining the game on a whim, effectively taking her sister's place in the game, Fox wasted no time making a name for herself. Disinclined to waste time sitting around, she quickly worked out the mechanics of the game and went charging forward with the intent of leaving her mark (or possibly flaming out in grand style). At least before it was revealed that they were all trapped within the game anyhow.

Admittedly, Fox was one of the disbelievers when their circumstances were first revealed to her but after watching the leader of her small party literally get ripped apart... well, if anything it only made her more fierce, more resolved--though no less crazy. A daredevil with something of a white knight complex, Fox has not spent the last month sitting idle. Any job that comes her way or any whisper of trouble on the horizon has her setting out to face it. She fully intends to climb the ranks and beat the game just as she had when she first signed in, however, now she knows it is a matter of life and death.

Powers/Equipment
Equipment
 • Requip: Blades of Justice - Fox's signature form of Magic, over which she seems to have an incredible potential for great mastery. It allows her to swap weapons, armor and clothes at will. While not fully maximized, Fox already is noted for her ability to Requip quite fast and has developed the ability to Requip weapons and armor while fighting. Each armor type comes with its own inherent strengths and weaknesses.
Abilities
 • Swordsmanship - Fox possesses growing mastery in swordsmanship. Her offensive capabilities mainly come from her swordplay, which enables her to effectively utilize the weapons that her Requip provides, which includes swords, short swords, axes, lances and staffs (among others). She can use a reverse-grip as well as the normal grip. Her swordsmanship is adept enough for her to deflect small projectiles and when combined with her magic her sword slashes possess enough force behind them that they are able to slice through metal using only the air pressure from the swings.
 • Hand to Hand Combatant - Despite favoring the use of her various weapons, Fox has proven to be a skilled hand-to-hand combatant and not entirely reliant upon a weapon. She is also able to mix hand to hand combat with her swordsmanship while in the midst of battle.
 • Sword Magic - In addition to her signature Magic, Requip, Fox is also a talented user of Sword Magic. As the name implies, this is a type of Magic which revolves around the use of swords. Through the use of this Magic, Fox is capable of using her swords to perform different Magical attacks. This is usually done in combination with specific armors of hers, which can make her deadlier in close melee combat or, when combined with her. It is theoretically possible that she can also combine different armors with other swords from other armors to either block or attack using deadlier force and mixing different elements together but thus far she has not yet demonstrated this in combat.
 • Immense Reflexes - Fox possesses extremely sharp reflexes, and a high degree agility and speed.
Strengths
 • Daredevil - Fearless and intense to the point of seeming a little crazy, Fox enjoys the rush of adrenaline and is most adept, most dexterous, when thinking on the fly. She's not dumb by any means and possesses a surprising wealth of patience when she has an end game in mind. She is doggedly persistent in achieving her aims even if her commentary can make her seem somewhat flippant.
 • Iron Will - When her stamina has run its course, when something needs tackling that seems insurmountable, when things just don't go her way... Fox will never just break, never just lay down and die. She always seems to have some drop of reserve in the tank.
 • Keen Battle Intellect - It may not always show itself in other situations but Fox is both clever and observant when it comes to combat. Thus far in her time she has been able to steadily increase her ability to anticipate and counter her foes after being able to observe or fight against them. She has also begun showing signs of being able to work out the mechanics behind magical attacks used against her.
Weaknesses
 • Hero Complex - Fox can't resist a chance to play hero. Whether for the "glory"/gratitude, or because she genuinely can't stand to turn away from anyone isn't clear, but it has gotten her into plenty of tight situations.
 • Prosthetics - No matter how well they move or handle weapons, two of her limbs do not have typical sensation and can be targeted as weak points. They also require upkeep in addition to her magic.
 • Ego - It can be used to distract/blind, and also may make it difficult for her to back down from a challenge or in situations where she feels she is right.

I find it interesting that Sephora picked out Pretty Cure/Precure for her Caster choice. That was one of the options I was thinking about when I was making my character. :D

Just a suggestion, but would be nice if you could give a little more fancy names to your powers. Reading up on the description, this Precure was the first to mind.

I thought picking YugiOh was really clever Stier,  I wouldn't have thought of that as a castor, but it totally fits in with summoning.

And I'm totally open for editing if need be, but I think I'm going to hold off on getting creative with my powers until I get a head tilt from Lobster.  :P

Norsegod1839

Should have my own up in the next couple of days! Super excited for this one guys!

That and I get to shout things like "It's my turn!" and "Draw!" as well as "I activate my Trap Card!". ;D

Feel free to use the wiki I linked you. Precure is a really fun series to draw from. Characters start decent and then become awesome powerhouses. Also, Dragonball level fight scenes in a show primarily aimed at little girls may surprise people.

@Sephora, approved! Feel free to move your sheet over to the Character Thread, say hello in the OOC, and post!

@Kokaine, question regarding her Requip ability. Do you have a specific list or number of different swords/armors that she has? Does every unique sword/item have a different magical ability that she can use to argument her Sword Magic?

In the anime Erza has over 100 armors. Obviously I don't intend for her to have that many but Im not sure what's a good number. At this stage Im not looking to give each sword a unique ability. Actually I was thinking maybe she'd have access to a larger number of armors just from her activity in the game but she would have to unlock each special ability or something along those lines as she levels up.

I recall Erza's armor are bought from one specific shop. Clearly some are magical in nature and grant her certain traits (protection from a particular element, or faster movement). I'm not fully aware what exactly each and every one of them does though.

Norsegod1839

Name – Axel
Anime Origin –  Chivalry Of A Failed Knight)
Class -Saber

Appearance/Style Description – Axel stands at 6 foot and is a tall lean man. His body is very light and limber with golden skin broad shoulders and a runners build. His legs are long and tan with powerful thick calves. He has a slight blemish on his face in the form of a crooked nose. His hair is buzzed short and is close to the point of being bald. His eye are his most striking feature mismatched with one being jade green and the other a very clear blue. He has a pointed chin and when shirtless has a weird looking symbol branded directly on his chest where his heart is.

Personality – A Jovial sort outside of combat. Axel is always quick to be friendly happy and make people feel welcome. He doesn't believe in any sort of hostility or making people feel unwelcome. He is warm and happy to everyone he meets and if he sees someone hanging out alone or looking sad he isn't afraid to go over there, talk to them, and make them feel included. During combat however is another story as Axel doesn't want to die and takes the game very seriously. He doesn't joke on the battlefield and is quick to yell at or shoot down anyone who isn't taking the game of death seriously. However afterwards he will apologize and depending on what was said might even buy the person a drink.

Backstory – The last several months of the game of death have been spent training for Axel. He is one of the few who hasn't given up on getting back to the real world and is one of the most determined on the front line. Axel doesn't talk about his life outside of the game and is known on the front lines as the lightning swordsman. He takes the game of death very seriously and hasnt done much of the more social activities like buy a home or anything within the game.

Strengths – Blazers: a special being who can manifest one's own soul as armor and control superpowers with one's magical power.

At it's most basic Alex can using his unique "blazing" skill to form a unique weapon  based on his own soul to use in battle. This soul weapon is called a "device" and is the primarily ability of a Blazer. Axel's is a shield which he uses for both offense and defense on the battle field.

His second ability is tied more to the magic of his "Blazing" ability

His ability is a variation of perfect sight from the anime itself. Alex can use his magic to slow down everything around him and increase his perception greatly. When this happens he perceives data and everything growing around him much faster and much more greatly than anyone else. He can react and not only that but by focusing on a single enemy can "scan" them and figure out their weaknesses. He can even use that knowledge and temporarily move faster and attack faster though doing so will drain his health meter by a point for every second he is in that state of mind.

Weaknesses – Using his powers for to long or taxing himself will LITERALLY kill him

Even after using the power Axel is usually left exhausted and in some extreme cases unable to move

Your sheet looks good to me but right now we are just accepting sheets for future players if we have someone decide to drop who is already in the game.

I will make another post in here when we are actively recruting if you are still interested in joining

Ziya

This looks amazing! Quick question though: would the Master class allow the Master to have at least some abilities as well? I was thinking about using Guts from Berserk as a Servant and have my OC have some magic abilities like Schierke from the same series so that she could keep the Berserk Armor in check for a set time, but I'll need to find another way if she can't.

BruceTheCat

Glad to see some new interest!

Whenever you have the chance to finish up your sheet Rel go ahead and send it over to me! Love what you have so far

Hey there Ziya! Good question. To answer your question yes, the Master could have some very minor magical abilities or equipment. However, it is important to note that they would not be very powerful. The intent of the Master class is definetly to have the Servant out there doing the fighting while the Master tries to stay back and avoid getting pulled in to the fight.

I’ve actually read the Berserk manga so conceptually I see what you are going for character wise. I think that could totally work. You just wouldn’t be able to do the powerful magic that Shierke is capable of.

As you progress and your servant becomes more powerful I would think the same thing would happen to the master. You would get slightly more powerful, and in turn be slightly more effective if you were forced in to a combat situation.

Here and reporting for review!

Name – Olive Saks
Anime Origin – Full Metal Alchemist
Class - Berserker

Appearance/Style Description: – Olive has long brown hair that she usually likes to wear up in a pony-tail on the top of her head. She also had bangs that always look like they need to be cut, so that they cover her brown--almost hazel eyes. She's not one for make-up or putting on fancy clothes. She likes her clothes straight forward, tight, and leave her plenty of room to jump around in. On a normal day she wears a black tank top with denim cut off shorts that leave very little for the imagination when it comes to the athletic tone of her body.

She usually carries a gun holster around her hips like a belt. Sporting two guns, because one is never enough. Another notable feature is the tribal tattoos on the right shoulder of her body. Sometimes people may be able to see it shift around, almost as if it can manipulate and form different patterns over her body. Or even cover it completely (see power below).

Personality: – Olive is a lone wolf. Before entering the game she also didn't like to have very many friends. It's why she was attracted to video games in the first place! However, in this game she's particularly anything but a team play. She's a lone wolf who is realizing that she is going to have to warm-up to people to progress further.

She's a bit rough around the edges, but those who have gotten close realize that she can be rather soft and gooey inside. However, if they tell anyone she'll surely yell, punch them hard in the arm, and then consider giving them a wet willy. Somewhere under that gruff and rough edges is really a woman who wants to help and wants to be accepted, but she'll never admit it.

The competitive spirit within her is no joke, which is why she's been a lone player this entire time. However, she also has the will to go on and never stop. She does not give up, no matter what the costs. She's pretty quiet about her sexual nature and can be considered all talk when it comes to her advances.

Backstory: - Olive has always been the type of gal that prefers the solo campaign side of things. Not because she's shy, far from it, but because she can be rather impatient when people fall behind or don't match her skill. That and her temper and crude way of talking can sometimes turn people off and away. Since she entered the game, she hasn't joined a single group for more than a few hours. At least joining a group and being allowed to say. Most of them have caste her away for rubbing the members and leaders the wrong way. However, Olive gave zero fucks about this.

Recently she's been soloing the levels on her own. Up until the most recent level (insert level AO campaign starts here). She's discovered that it is now impossible for her to progress further without a team, and she's getting bored farming "dumb XP." Olive is a completionist and she's almost getting desperate for a team to join and a team that will take her in. She had no idea how lucky she's going to be to be part of the squad of AO.

Powers:

Ultimate Shield -  She can rearrange the carbon in her body to make her skin as hard as diamond, thus making her impenetrable by most weapons. However, this levels with her, so if there is someone at a higher level--they can break through her shield.

Razor Sharp Talons - Her Ultimate Shield can also turn into sharp talons on her fingers that she can use to tear through people from a melee range. She likes to attack the stomach, because that's where all the soft bits are.

Berserker Mode - She can only activate this once per fight, but she can unleash an insane amount of anger and energy to move very fast and to do a lot of damage. When she does this her eyes get red and her ultimate shield covers her face. She does not like to do this very often.

Hall and Oats - The weird name that she gave to the two guns at her side. This is the weapon that she uses most of the time, and these guns are effective from a long range. However, they are normal guns and she's far more powerful up in melee range.

Strengths:

Kinda Famous: She's known for being able to complete levels on her own without the assistance of a team, up until this recent level. Very, very few have been able to do this, and she's gained a bit of fame from her grand feat. However, the rumor is that no one wants to work with her, so she's forced to solo these levels on her own.

Athletic: She has a very high level of fitness and athleticism. When it comes to sports and fighting, she's definitely the girl for the job. There is even rumor that she's excellent at beach volleyball! But good luck finding a beach ball and a net in some sand for her to play in.

Endurance: The woman can seem to never run out of energy, even if she can channel her energy into one huge blast. However, she can go on for miles and miles. When it comes to drinking, fighting, and pretty much doing anything for a long period of time.

Weaknesses:

- Addiction: Of the alcohol and smoking vices. Olive is one of the firsts to grab a drink and she's also really into the smoking aesthetic in the game. It's costing her a lot of credits and it can hinder her stamina/rage meter if she doesn't get her smokes in a decent amount of time. Anything that she can develop as a vice--she'll be addicted to. She's also lethargic and has low stamina after a bender of drinking all night... but it was so worth it. It's always worth it.

- Social Skills: She's not the nicest person and doesn't always have the right thing to say. She says what's on her mind, and she may have an unpopular opinion. A lot of people say that she's rough around the edges, and impossible to get to know. The lack of friends on her friends list makes this claim very true. From this, she also gives the worst nicknames.

- Stubborn: It's really hard to get her to do something she doesn't want to do. Like impossibly hard, and with this comes the trait that she also finds it hard to take direction from leadership if they don't agree to her way. She is learning to combat this with time, if she wants to progress further in the game.

Pink Professional

#138
Name – Marcus Daniels
Anime Origin – History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi
Class - Sabre

Appearance/Style Description – A Handsome looking late-twenties man with shaggy blonde hair and a moderate amount of stubble, Marcus has a honest look about him, even if he’s a bit rough looking. Some people might accuse him of looking ‘plain’ and others still have accused him of looking like a bit of a thug, especially in his Gi. His martial arts makes him a fit and muscular individual, even if he’s only about 5’7.

Personality – Marcus is a pretty straight forward man in terms of how he acts with people. He’s not the sort to pull punches when it comes to opinions on people, although he generally leans towards being optimistic and thinking the best. His thuggish looks don’t really tell the real story about his want to be surrounded by friends, although he’d never admit it because it ‘isn’t manly.’ He’s the sort of person who might say they don’t want to do something, but very easily be swayed into doing it for a friend, despite ‘begrudging’ protests. Despite all this though, Marcus is a fairly fun, honest, and straightforward soul who prefers to have and help friends than run it alone. He is dependable and honest, sometimes even painfully so.

Backstory – Marcus is very quiet about his real life, but he was shocked by the sudden declaration of the God-like Storyteller who promised death for the defeated and entrapment for everyone until the game was over. Marcus was quick to gather as many people as he could under his banner of friendship and protection to anyone who didn’t seem like they’d survive the game on their own. A lot of people owed Marcus their lives in the early days of the game, but even as hard as Marcus worked trying to watch over the inexperienced players, he saw a daily drop in his list of protectees. It was impossible to save them all. He nearly fell into desperation until a young boy suggested that he go and beat the game to save everyone. It sharpened his resolve and, even though he knows he’s not the strongest individual in the game he became enraptured with the idea of becoming strong enough to carry the entirety of Awaken Online on his back. If he could become a true Master, he’d be able to beat the game and save everyone. There was only so much he could do on the defensive. He’d have to go on the attack, if he wanted to save everyone.

Powers/Equipment –

Seikūken: Marcus’ strongest technique at this early juncture, Seikūken is a complete domination of a space around him that allows him to predict, obstruct, and avoid attacks that enter a small radius around him. The powerful technique works as both a defensive and offensive technique, but is limited in a few key ways. First of all, the Seikūken demands a calm and steady mind, as well as a planted body. He needs to be fairly still in order to use the technique, and he has to be in a calm mental state. Secondly, while the Seikūken lets him perform superhuman feats, it can be overwhelmed by attacks that are either too numerous or too powerful to be stopped.

Ki wielder: Marcus is able to tap into the mystical energy of a martial artist’s soul, known broadly as ‘Ki’. Ki, unlike some portrayals, is the internal source of all martial artists, and is power used to augment a their offensive and defensive capabilities, allowing them to survive lethal blows with an Iron-like body, or punch holes through solid rock without so much as splitting the skin on their knuckles. Ki demands a lot of practice and skill to manifest properly, and Marcus is only a novice at using it thus far. He's barely able to manifest it more than at the subconscious level, meaning he can't really make himself stronger unless his in a dangerous situation.

Strengths

The Talent of Hardwork: Marcus’ most prominent talent is his ability to understand and dissect the world around him in the ways only a Martial Artist can. He might see the movement of the wind through the trees, and sees martial arts. He might observe the powerful roar of a mighty dragon, and see martial arts. He might see the insane power of some monstrous divine, and see martial arts. This constant understanding of the world allows him to rapidly develop new techniques and gain new edifices of knowledge about Martial Arts simply from existing in the dangerous world of Awaken Online. It has allowed him to become stronger without a Master, and he hopes to continue to grow; stronger and stronger until he becomes a Master himself and holds the strength to protect the world.

Overpowering Martial Artist: Marcus’ skills as a Martial Artist make him as deadly as any Swordsman, Gunner, or Monster, perhaps even more so because of people’s tendency to underestimate his empty hands. He’s taken on beasts and warriors alike with his powerful blows, and is still standing where others are not.

The Will to Live: Marcus’ other redeeming quality, the Martial Artist’s focus on training and hard work have crafted more than a body of rock. Marcus is near impossible to terrify, and difficult to stop from fighting if he thinks it is the right thing to do. Don’t think that knocking him out or killing him is the easy option either. He’s liable to take attacks that’d kill lesser men and just punch the attacker back just as hard, all with that infuriating look of self-belief on his face.

Weaknesses

Reticence: Marcus, for all his skill and strength, seems to be shackled by a few strange hang ups that might put him in danger. While he has no qualms destroying monsters, or mindless beings, he finds it incredibly difficult to injure or kill anyone who shows they have a mind. His fist, he says, is meant for protecting people; not killing them. That means that, in a fight to the death against someone who is trying to kill him, he’ll be forced to perform an even more difficult task - defeating them without killing them.

The Way of the Fist: Marcus’ strength is impressive, but it is certainly One-Dimensional. He doesn’t have the options of a caster, or the range of an Archer. He can’t instantly bridge the gap to foes, and he can’t use his abilities to attack from anything but the closest of ranges. It doesn’t take a genius to see that Marcus’ options are straightforward and limited, and that straightforwardness is easy to manipulate.

Obvious Secrets: Marcus' reluctance to talk about his real-life situation is an obvious indication of some great discomfort that could easily be used to distract or disorient the normally stalwart Martial Artist. Normally, he can brush it off by not talking about it, but if someone were to ever find out about his real-life situation, it would be a major distraction; a distraction that would make use of the Seikūken impossible and would create very real openings in his guard.

Only Human: Despite his above average strength and endurance, Marcus is only a human being. Any wounds he takes are very real injuries that will take time to recover, as he has no special regeneration or recovery traits. If he loses an arm or a leg, that limb is gone forever. Should he take a blow and not be able to defend it properly, that could easily kill him. He may be one of the least fragile humans around, but he's still a fragile human.

Ziya

Whew, that took a bit longer than I thought! If this one is okay, I'll get Gut's sheet finished up and posted.

Also, do I need to put Guts' backstory in, or just what he's done since the game started?

Lucia Kalenia
Berserk
Class - Master

Appearance/Style Description – Lucia’s defining style is comfort and ease. She usually keeps her long purple hair down, mostly because she can’t be bothered with braiding it every day, and her bangs tend to cover her left eye somewhat, lending a slightly mysterious look that is by no means intentional.
Around the safe zones she prefers simple tunics and either pants or a long skirt, while her actual equipment often leaves her looking like a witch, complete with a long cloak and a pointy hat. In both she prefers blacks and purples, though she will occasionally wear something brighter around town.
Lucia is taller than average, nearly 6 feet, with moderate muscle tone. While she is by no means willowy, she does have some curves to her, despite a smaller chest and broad shoulders.

Personality – Lucia is an introvert through and through, often needing time to herself to relax and recharge after being around people for too long. Friends are difficult for her to come by, but the few she has are closer than family and she is fiercely loyal to them.
She has a bubbly personality, often trying to make her friends smile and laugh through silly antics or sarcastic jokes. What most don’t see though is that this is a mask for her depression and anxiety, which can shut her down entirely when they flare up.
Lucia also fears rejection and anyone seeing her in less than full clothing due to certain things from the real world, though she refuses to tell anyone more than that. As such, she is also afraid of intimacy from any but her closest friends.

Backstory – When the announcement was made about the true rules of the game, Lucia had a pretty severe panic attack for a few days. Once she calmed down though, she swore that she would do everything she could to help progress and set out for the front lines. Being a Master was still new to her when she and a friend were ambushed in one of the early floors, and when Guts used his armor to save her life she saw the horror of a berserker firsthand as he killed not only the enemies, but her friend as well. She and Guts isolated themselves after that while she tried to use what little skills Masters were allowed to prevent a reoccurrence, advancing alone through the floors and only returning to safe zones when low on supplies.
Recently she found a way to control the rage within Guts somewhat, allowing them to rejoin the rest of the players once more. While most of the other players still want to clear the game, and Lucia by no means wants to die, secretly she enjoys being there, and dreads returning to real life for reasons she is unwilling to tell.

Powers/Equipment
Summon Guts – Exactly as it sounds, Lucia can summon Guts with a short chant. This usually takes about ten seconds, and also irritates Guts, who claims the process is very disorienting.

Astral Projection – Lucia’s answer to the Berserker Armor’s rage, she can use this ability to merge her mind with Guts’, allowing him to use the armor without losing his mind. She cannot move her physical body during this, and as such requires someone to protect her or a safe place nearby. Often the final safe room in a dungeon is close enough to the boss room to rest her body in, but not always.

Thought Transference – Lucia can craft trinkets using her hair that allow the wearers to communicate telepathically over long distances and share images.

Strengths
Resourceful – Lucia can find a way out of nearly any situation, even if it breaks the game a little bit. Sometimes she doesn’t even realize she did it, like trying every combination on a trapped dungeon door and blocking the arrow holes with a boulder.

Natural Warrior – Despite not having much combat ability herself, Lucia has an instinctive grasp of tactics and very rarely misses anything in a fight. Her demeanor completely shifts during combat, becoming
confident and calm to take advantage of these traits.

Determination – Once Lucia starts something, she will finish it no matter what. Even if it doesn’t need to be done anymore.

Weaknesses
Depression – Lucia has occasional bouts of severe depression. While this happens less frequently since being trapped in the game, whenever she makes a major mistake or gets someone hurt she has been known to become incredibly withdrawn and even passively suicidal.

Social Anxiety – Lucia is very awkward and anxious around strangers, isolating her from the other players somewhat. The only way she can get around this is by being forced into a situation where she has to interact with someone, either by chance or by the other person approaching her first.

Secrets – Lucia has secrets from real life that she is terrified to tell anyone about in the game, but is also really bad at hiding. This can lead to tension even among her friends, as well as anxiety and panic attacks.

Hey Ziya,

I don't believe you need to put in the MP's story into your character's story. She is just "Of that Universe". A good example is my character. He is of the Macross Franchise, Frontier Local. Yet I didn't need to put any details about Frontier, nor their association with my character.

Am I correct, Red?

To clarify, the Master class requires two character sheets, one for the Master (the OC) and one for the Servant (the canon character). I was trying to ask about the backstory section for Guts' character sheet, since it is actually him. Sorry about the confusion!

BruceTheCat

You can remove the backstory section out of your Servants sheet!

Also if you’d like to just include a image for his appearance I think you can skip that as well. Unless you’d like to write it!

Alright, sounds good! I tried to balance out his abilities a little, but the only thing I could come up with was a time limit for his armor, which is kinda what happens anyhow. Let me know if I need to nerf him more!

Guts, The Black Swordsman
Berserk
Class – Servant (Berserker)

Appearance/Style Description – Guts is a massive man, standing over 6’ 3” with a physique that any bodybuilder would envy. His short black hair is naturally spiked, with about a fourth pure white in a triangle pattern in the front, and his one remaining eye is a deep brown. Innumerable scars cover his body from a lifetime of battle, and he has replaced his missing left arm with a metal prosthetic.
Guts wears simple tunics and pants of browns and greens on the rare occasion he is not in his Berserker Armor, preferring comfort and simplicity over fashion. He also has a brand on the back-right of his neck that occasionally bleeds.

Personality – When Guts first met Lucia he was vindictive and callous, caring nothing for others and even going so far as trying to use them as bait. Not even Lucia escaped his ire, until he accidentally slaughtered her friend in a berserk rage while saving her on an early floor. Seeing her state afterward reminded him of his feelings after the Eclipse, and he made an effort to change, even if just a little and the two became even closer once Lucia shared her past with him, forging a bond between the two outcasts.
Now Guts is cautious but open to working with others and even appreciating them after a time, and his relationship with Lucia has become near to that of siblings. He is aware that the players are from a different world, but he is willing to do everything he can to help them return. Above all, he is the embodiment of stubborn persistence, fighting against anything that stands between him and his goals with a terrifying passion that allows him to overcome impossible odds again and again.

Powers/Equipment
Dragon Slayer - "It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was more like a slab of raw iron." Such is the description most use at the sight of Guts’ massive sword, a massive blade about 6’ 6” from hilt to tip, about 15” wide, and nearly an inch thick at its core. The blade has been rumored to weigh hundreds of pounds and takes two other men to lift. As Guts’ main weapon throughout his journey it has tasted the blood of numerous demons and Apostles, giving it the power to harm even astral forms such as ghosts.

Multi-Weapon Prosthetic Arm – Guts’ left arm from just past the elbow is a steel prosthetic with a magnet built into the hand. Within the arm itself is a hidden cannon fired using an ignition chord, though it is limited to a single shot before reloading. Guts can also mount a repeater crossbow to a bracket on the arm, though he cannot use it while using his Berserker Armor.

Berserker Armor – A suit of cursed plate armor made up of overlapping panels of deep black, said to have been forged by dwarves and given the ability to draw out the darkest emotions of the user. When Guts uses this armor he becomes capable of fighting enemies dozens of times larger than him with ease and feels no pain at all.
But such power comes at a high cost. The armor works by removing the subconscious limits placed on the Guts’ body, putting massive strain on every muscle, bone, and tendon, and ultimately reducing it to a puppet of Guts’ will if the battle lasts too long. Injuries do not affect the Guts’ abilities, but the armor impales his body to force bones back into place and hold together torn muscles, ultimately leading to death by blood loss or nerve damage.
Even worse is the effect on the Guts’ mind. The armor draws out and amplifies fear and anger to the point that Guts will attack any moving target relentlessly, be it friend or foe. Eventually the armor could cause Guts’ mind to snap if left unchecked, leaving him no better than a feral beast. Only by allowing the mind of one trained in astral arts to connect to his can the armor’s effect be limited, but it is a bitter struggle even so.

Strengths
Swordsmanship – Fighting with swords larger than he since the age of 9, Guts is a master swordsman when wielding such blades. Despite the weight of his Dragon Slayer, he can still wield it with tremendous speed and accuracy.

Sheer Willpower – Guts has fought against beings capable of killing entire armies for two straight years, and no longer cares what most consider possible. No matter the situation, he will find a way past it, through either wit or brute force.

Battle Instincts – Despite losing an eye and arm, Guts has survived all-out battle against demons and ghosts nearly every night for two years, with harder battles against Apostles sprinkled throughout. This has honed his instincts to the point that he can detect attacks from anywhere and sense killing intent.

Weaknesses
Lack of Self-Preservation – Quite simply, Guts doesn’t care about his own life or well-being. He often pushes himself to the brink of death (or past, if not for some timely magic) limited only by how fast he can defeat his opponent. He would gladly give up an arm (as he already has) or a leg if it means winning.

Haphephobia – Guts has an overpowering fear of being touched by anyone he does not consider a friend, and has been known to violently push away any who attempt to do so. He reacts slightly less to women, but only his close friends can touch him without any fear.

Magical Ignorance – Not only does Guts lack any understanding of magic, he lacks even the desire to learn. His own weapons have always been enough to see him through, and on the rare occasion they fail his companions have magic to fill the gaps.
